And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there.

Cuando se acercaban a la casa de Micaía, reconocieron la voz del joven levita. Al llegar allá, le preguntaron: ¿Quién te trajo aquí? ¿Qué haces en este lugar? ¿Qué tienes aquí?

When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here?

El sacerdote les respondió: ¡Vayan en paz! El camino por el cual andan está en presencia de Yavé.

Los cinco hombres salieron y llegaron a Lais. Vieron que la población que estaba en ella vivía con seguridad, a la manera de los sidonios, tranquilos y seguros, porque nadie estaba en aquella tierra que los perturbara en alguna cosa, ni quien se enseñoreara de ellos. Estaban lejos de los sidonios y con nadie tenían trato.
Entonces aquellos cinco hombres se partieron, y vinieron á Lais: y vieron que el pueblo que habitaba en ella estaba seguro, ocioso y confiado, conforme á la costumbre de los de Sidón; no había nadie en aquella región que los perturbase en cosa alguna para poseer aquel estado; demás de esto, estaban lejos de los Sidonios, y no tenían negocios con nadie.
Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.

And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.

Cuando lleguen, entrarán a un pueblo seguro y a una tierra espaciosa. Ciertamente, ʼElohim la entregó en su mano. Es un lugar donde no falta alguna cosa de las que hay en la tierra.
Cuando allá llegareis, vendréis á una gente segura, y á una tierra de ancho asiento; pues que Dios la ha entregado en vuestras manos; lugar donde no hay falta de cosa que sea en la tierra.
When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure, and to a large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth.
When you go, you will come to an unsuspecting people, and the land is large; for God has given it into your hand, a place where there is no lack of anything that is in the earth.”
Entonces 600 hombres equipados con armas de guerra salieron de Zora y Estaol, de la familia de los danitas.

De allí avanzaron hacia la región montañosa de Efraín, y llegaron a la casa de Micaía.

Aquellos cinco hombres que fueron a reconocer la tierra de Lais, tomaron la palabra y dijeron a sus hermanos: ¿Saben que en esas casas hay efod, ídolos domésticos, una imagen tallada y una fundida? Por tanto, miren lo que van a hacer.
Entonces aquellos cinco hombres que habían ido á reconocer la tierra de Lais, dijeron á sus hermanos: ¿No sabéis como en estas casas hay ephod y teraphim, é imagen de talla y de fundición? Mirad pues lo que habéis de hacer.
Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do.

Se desviaron hacia allá y saludaron pacíficamente al entrar en la casa de Micaía, donde vivía el joven levita,

And these went into Micah’s house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye?

Ellos le respondieron: Calla, pon la mano sobre tu boca y ven con nosotros. Sé para nosotros padre y sacerdote. ¿Te es mejor ser sacerdote de la casa de un solo hombre, que para una tribu y una familia de Israel?
Y ellos le respondieron: Calla, pon la mano sobre tu boca, y vente con nosotros, para que seas nuestro padre y sacerdote. ¿Es mejor que seas tú sacerdote en casa de un hombre solo, que de una tribu y familia de Israel?
And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?
They said to him, “Hold your peace, put your hand on your mouth, and go with us. Be a father and a priest to us. Is it better for you to be priest to the house of one man, or to be priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?”
Entonces el corazón del sacerdote se alegró y tomó el efod, los ídolos domésticos y la imagen tallada, y fue con aquella gente.

And they cried unto the children of Dan. And they turned their faces, and said unto Micah, What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company?

Él contestó: Tomaron al sacerdote y mis ʼelohim que hice, y se marcharon, ¿y qué me queda? Aún me preguntan: ¿Qué pasó?

And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee?
He said, “You have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and have gone away! What more do I have? How can you ask me, ‘What ails you?’”
Pero los hijos de Dan le respondieron: Que tu voz no se oiga entre nosotros, no sea que los de ánimo colérico te ataquen, y pierdas tu vida y las vidas de tu familia.

And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household.

Así mantuvieron erigida para ellos la imagen tallada que Micaía hizo, todo el tiempo que la Casa de ʼElohim estuvo en Silo.

And they set them up Micah’s graven image, which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.
So they set up for themselves Micah’s engraved image which he made, and it remained all the time that God’s house was in Shiloh.
