Con esta mira los hijos de Dan despacharon desde Saraa y Estaol cinco varones muy esforzados de su linaje y familia, para que reconociesen y registrasen bien el país de su suerte; y dijéronles: Id y reconoced la tierra. Los cuales puestos en camino, en llegando a la montaña de Efraín, entraron en casa de Micás, y descansaron allí.
Y los hijos de Dan enviaron de su tribu cinco hombres de sus términos, hombres valientes, de Sora y Esthaol, para que reconociesen y explorasen bien la tierra; y dijéronles: Id y reconoced la tierra. Estos vinieron al monte de Ephraim, hasta la casa de Michâs, y allí posaron.
And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there.

Y conociendo por el habla o acento al joven levita, en la casa en que estaban hospedados, le preguntaron: ¿Quién te ha traído acá? ¿Qué es lo que aquí haces? ¿Cómo es que has venido a esta tierra?
Y como estaban cerca de la casa de Michâs, reconocieron la voz del joven Levita; y llegándose allá, dijéronle: ¿Quién te ha traído por acá? ¿y qué haces aquí? ¿y qué tienes tú por aquí?
When they were by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this place? and what hast thou here?

El cual les respondió: Esto y esto hizo conmigo Micás; y me tiene asalariado para que sea su sacerdote.

And he said unto them, Thus and thus dealeth Micah with me, and hath hired me, and I am his priest.

Le rogaron entonces que consultara al Señor para que pudieran saber si su viaje sería feliz, y llegaría a efectuarse su empresa.
Y ellos le dijeron: Pregunta pues ahora á Dios, para que sepamos si ha de prosperar nuestro viaje que hacemos.
And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.

Les respondió: Id en paz; que Dios mira con buenos ojos vuestro designio, y el camino que lleváis.

And the priest said unto them, Go in peace: before the LORD is your way wherein ye go.

Partiendo de allí los cinco exploradores, llegaron a la ciudad de Lais; y vieron que aquel pueblo habitaba en ella sin sombra de recelo, como acostumbraban a vivir los sidonios, tranquilo y sosegado, sin que nadie le molestara, rico en extremo, y distante de Sidón, y apartado de todos los demás hombres.
Entonces aquellos cinco hombres se partieron, y vinieron á Lais: y vieron que el pueblo que habitaba en ella estaba seguro, ocioso y confiado, conforme á la costumbre de los de Sidón; no había nadie en aquella región que los perturbase en cosa alguna para poseer aquel estado; demás de esto, estaban lejos de los Sidonios, y no tenían negocios con nadie.
Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.

Con lo que habiendo vuelto a sus hermanos de Saraa y Estaol, y preguntados sobre el resultado de su comisión respondieron:
Volviendo pues ellos á sus hermanos en Sora y Esthaol, sus hermanos les dijeron: ¿Qué hay? y ellos respondieron:
And they came unto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren said unto them, What say ye?

Vamos y marchemos contra ellos: porque hemos visto que es un país muy opulento y fértil: no os descuidéis ni perdáis tiempo: vamos a ocuparlo; que no nos costará trabajo alguno.
Levantaos, subamos contra ellos; porque nosotros hemos explorado la región, y hemos visto que es muy buena: ¿y vosotros os estáis quedos? no seáis perezosos en poneros en marcha para ir á poseer la tierra.
And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good: and are ye still? be not slothful to go, and to enter to possess the land.

Entraremos en un pueblo que vive en una total confianza, en un país espaciosísimo y el Señor nos entregará un territorio donde ninguna cosa falta de cuantas produce la tierra.
Cuando allá llegareis, vendréis á una gente segura, y á una tierra de ancho asiento; pues que Dios la ha entregado en vuestras manos; lugar donde no hay falta de cosa que sea en la tierra.
When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure, and to a large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of any thing that is in the earth.

Partieron, pues, de la tribu de Dan, esto es, de Saraa y Estaol, seiscientos hombres armados y a punto de pelear;

And they went up, and pitched in Kirjath-jearim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Mahaneh-dan unto this day: behold, it is behind Kirjath-jearim.

aquellos cinco hombres enviados antes a examinar el territorio de Lais, dijeron a los demás compañeros suyos: Ya sabéis que en esta casa hay efod y terafim y un simulacro de talla y de fundición: ved sobre esto lo que queréis hacer.
Entonces aquellos cinco hombres que habían ido á reconocer la tierra de Lais, dijeron á sus hermanos: ¿No sabéis como en estas casas hay ephod y teraphim, é imagen de talla y de fundición? Mirad pues lo que habéis de hacer.
Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do.

Y apartándose un poco, entraron en la habitación del joven levita, que vivía en la casa de Micás, y le saludarón con palabras amistosas.

Y subiendo los cinco hombres que habían ido á reconocer la tierra, entraron allá, y tomaron la imagen de talla, y el ephod, y el teraphim, y la imagen de fundición, mientras estaba el sacerdote á la entrada de la puerta con los seiscientos hombres armados de armas de guerra.
And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war.

En fin, los que habían entrado se llevaron la estatua de talla, el efod, los ídolos y la imagen de fundición, a los cuales les dijo el sacerdote: ¿Qué es lo que hacéis?
Entrando pues aquellos en la casa de Michâs, tomaron la imagen de talla, el ephod, y el teraphim, y la imagen de fundición. Y el sacerdote les dijo: ¿Qué hacéis vosotros?
And these went into Micah’s house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye?

Le respondieron: ¡Calla! y pon el dedo en tu boca; y ven con nosotros, que te tendremos por padre y sacerdote. ¿Qué es mejor para ti, ser sacerdote en casa de un particular, o en toda una tribu o familia de Israel?
Y ellos le respondieron: Calla, pon la mano sobre tu boca, y vente con nosotros, para que seas nuestro padre y sacerdote. ¿Es mejor que seas tú sacerdote en casa de un hombre solo, que de una tribu y familia de Israel?
And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?
They said to him, “Hold your peace, put your hand on your mouth, and go with us. Be a father and a priest to us. Is it better for you to be priest to the house of one man, or to be priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?”
Oído lo cual, cedió a estas razones, y tomando el efod, y los ídolos, y la estatua de talla, fuese con ellos.
Y alegróse el corazón del sacerdote; el cual tomando el ephod y el teraphim, y la imagen, vínose entre la gente.

y comenzaron a dar gritos a sus espaldas. Mas algunos de ellos volviéndose a mirar lo que era, dijeron a Micás: ¿Qué es lo que quieres? ¿Por qué me gritas?
Y dando voces á los de Dan, éstos volvieron sus rostros, y dijeron á Michâs: ¿Qué tienes que has juntado gente?
And they cried unto the children of Dan. And they turned their faces, and said unto Micah, What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company?
As they called to the children of Dan, they turned their faces, and said to Micah, “What ails you, that you come with such a company?”
¿Es bueno, respondió él, que me habéis robado los dioses que yo hice para mí, y al sacerdote y todo cuanto tengo, y decís: ¿Qué es lo que tienes?
Y él respondió: Mis dioses que yo hice, que lleváis juntamente con el sacerdote, y os vais: ¿qué más me queda? ¿y á qué propósito me decís: Qué tienes?
And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what is this that ye say unto me, What aileth thee?
He said, “You have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and have gone away! What more do I have? How can you ask me, ‘What ails you?’”
Le replicaron los hijos de Dan: Guárdate de hablarnos más palabras sobre esto; no sea que se echen sobre ti los hombres llenos de indignación, y vengas a perecer con toda tu casa.
Y los hijos de Dan le dijeron: No des voces tras nosotros, no sea que los de ánimo colérico os acometan, y pierdas también tu vida, y la vida de los tuyos.
And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household.

Dicho esto, prosiguieron su camino; y Micás viendo que podían más que él, se volvió a su casa.

Y permaneció entre ellos el ídolo de Micás todo el tiempo que estuvo en Silo la casa o Tabernáculo de Dios. No había en aquel tiempo rey o jefe supremo en Israel.
Y levantáronse la imagen de Michâs, la cual él había hecho, todo el tiempo que la casa de Dios estuvo en Silo.
And they set them up Micah’s graven image, which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.
So they set up for themselves Micah’s engraved image which he made, and it remained all the time that God’s house was in Shiloh.
