En ces temps, où il n’y avait point de roi en Israël, un lévite, habitant sur la lisière de la montagne d’Ephraïm, avait pria une concubine originaire de Bethléem-en-Juda.

EN aquellos días, cuando no había rey en Israel, hubo un Levita que moraba como peregrino en los lados del monte de Ephraim, el cual se había tomado mujer concubina de Beth-lehem de Judá.

And it came to pass in those days, when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the side of mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Beth-lehem-judah.

Le quatrième jour, ils se levèrent de bonne heure et l’on se disposa au départ; mais le père de la jeune femme dit à son gendre: "Mange un morceau pour te réconforter, vous partirez après."

Y al cuarto día, como se levantaron de mañana, levantóse también el Levita para irse, y el padre de la moza dijo á su yerno: Conforta tu corazón con un bocado de pan, y después os iréis.

And it came to pass on the fourth day, when they arose early in the morning, that he rose up to depart: and the damsel’s father said unto his son in law, Comfort thine heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward go your way.

Et tous deux se mirent à table, mangèrent et burent ensemble, et le père de la jeune femme dit au mari: "Consens à rester encore cette nuit, pour te réjouir le cœur."

Y sentáronse ellos dos juntos, y comieron y bebieron. Y el padre de la moza dijo al varón: Yo te ruego que te quieras quedar aquí esta noche, y alegraráse tu corazón.

And they sat down, and did eat and drink both of them together: for the damsel’s father had said unto the man, Be content, I pray thee, and tarry all night, and let thine heart be merry.

So they sat down, ate, and drank, both of them together. Then the young lady’s father said to the man, “Please be pleased to stay all night, and let your heart be merry.”

L’homme se leva néanmoins pour partir; mais son beau-père le pressa tant qu’il se ravisa et resta là cette nuit.

Y levantándose el varón para irse, el suegro le constriñó á que tornase y tuviese allí la noche.

And when the man rose up to depart, his father in law urged him: therefore he lodged there again.

L’homme alors se leva pour se mettre en route, avec sa concubine et son serviteur. Son beau-père, le père de la jeune femme, lui dit: "Ecoute donc, le jour tire à sa fin, passez la nuit ici; voici un gîte pour aujourd’hui, restes-y cette nuit pour te réjouir le cœur; demain de bon matin vous vous mettrez en route, et tu regagneras ta demeure."

Levantóse luego el varón para irse, él, y su concubina, y su criado. Entonces su suegro, el padre de la moza, le dijo: He aquí el día declina para ponerse el sol, ruégote que os estéis aquí la noche; he aquí que el día se acaba, ten aquí la noche, para que se alegre tu corazón; y mañana os levantaréis temprano á vuestro camino, y llegarás á tus tiendas.

And when the man rose up to depart, he, and his concubine, and his servant, his father in law, the damsel’s father, said unto him, Behold, now the day draweth toward evening, I pray you tarry all night: behold, the day groweth to an end, lodge here, that thine heart may be merry; and to morrow get you early on your way, that thou mayest go home.

Mais l’homme, ne voulant plus passer la nuit, se mit en route et arriva en vue de Jébus, qui est Jérusalem, ayant avec lui les deux ânes sellés, et accompagné de sa concubine.

Mas el hombre no quiso quedar allí la noche, sino que se levantó y partió, y llegó hasta enfrente de Jebus, que es Jerusalem, con su par de asnos aparejados, y con su concubina.

But the man would not tarry that night, but he rose up and departed, and came over against Jebus, which is Jerusalem; and there were with him two asses saddled, his concubine also was with him.

Y su señor le respondió: No iremos á ninguna ciudad de extranjeros, que no sea de los hijos de Israel: antes pasaremos hasta Gabaa. Y dijo á su criado:

And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside hither into the city of a stranger, that is not of the children of Israel; we will pass over to Gibeah.

His master said to him, “We won’t enter into the city of a foreigner that is not of the children of Israel; but we will pass over to Gibeah.”

Il ajouta, parlant à son serviteur: "Passons outre, nous pourrons atteindre quelque autre endroit, et passer la nuit à Ghibea ou à Rama."

Ven, lleguemos á uno de esos lugares, para tener la noche en Gabaa, ó en Rama.

And he said unto his servant, Come, and let us draw near to one of these places to lodge all night, in Gibeah, or in Ramah.

Ils continuèrent donc de marcher, et le soleil se couchait lorsqu’ils arrivèrent à la Ghibea de Benjamin.

Pasando pues, caminaron, y púsoseles el sol junto á Gabaa, que era de Benjamín.

And they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down upon them when they were by Gibeah, which belongeth to Benjamin.

Ils tournèrent de ce côté, dans l’intention de coucher à Ghibea; on entra dans la ville, on s’assit sur la place, mais personne ne leur offrit l’hospitalité pour la nuit.

Y apartáronse del camino para entrar á tener allí la noche en Gabaa; y entrando, sentáronse en la plaza de la ciudad, porque no hubo quien los acogiese en casa para pasar la noche.

And they turned aside thither, to go in and to lodge in Gibeah: and when he went in, he sat him down in a street of the city: for there was no man that took them into his house to lodging.

Survint un vieillard, qui rentrait, ce même soir, de son travail des champs; c’était un homme de la montagne d’Ephraïm, domicilié à Ghibea, dont les habitants étaient Benjamites.

Y he aquí un hombre viejo, que á la tarde venía del campo de trabajar; el cual era del monte de Ephraim, y moraba como peregrino en Gabaa, pero los moradores de aquel lugar eran hijos de Benjamín.

And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at even, which was also of mount Ephraim; and he sojourned in Gibeah: but the men of the place were Benjamites.

En levant les yeux, le vieillard remarqua ce voyageur sur la place publique, et il lui demanda: "Où vas-tu? D’où viens-tu?"

Y alzando el viejo los ojos, vió á aquel viajante en la plaza de la ciudad, y díjole: ¿A dónde vas, y de dónde vienes?

And when he had lifted up his eyes, he saw a wayfaring man in the street of the city: and the old man said, Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?

He lifted up his eyes, and saw the wayfaring man in the street of the city; and the old man said, “Where are you going? Where did you come from?”

L’autre lui répondit: "Nous nous rendons de Bethléem-en-Juda à l’extrémité du mont d’Ephraïm, d’où je suis, et d’où j’étais allé à Bethléem; c’est vers la maison du Seigneur que je me dirige, et personne ne me recueille chez soi!

Y él respondió: Pasamos de Beth-lehem de Judá á los lados del monte de Ephraim, de donde yo soy; y partí hasta Beth-lehem de Judá; y voy á la casa de Jehová, y no hay quien me reciba en casa,

And he said unto him, We are passing from Beth-lehem-judah toward the side of mount Ephraim; from thence am I: and I went to Beth-lehem-judah, but I am now going to the house of the LORD; and there is no man that receiveth me to house.

He said to him, “We are passing from Bethlehem Judah to the farther side of the hill country of Ephraim. I am from there, and I went to Bethlehem Judah. I am going to the LORD’s house; and there is no one who has taken me into his house.

Du reste, nous avons de la paille et du fourrage pour nos ânes, du pain et du vin pour moi, pour ta servante et pour le jeune homme qui accompagne tes serviteurs; nous ne manquons de rien."

Aunque nosotros tenemos paja y de comer para nuestros asnos, y también tenemos pan y vino para mí y para tu sierva, y para el criado que está con tu siervo; de nada tenemos falta.

Yet there is both straw and provender for our asses; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for thy handmaid, and for the young man which is with thy servants: there is no want of any thing.

"Sois le bienvenu, dit le vieillard; tout ce qui peut te faire faute, je m’en charge; je ne veux pas que tu couches sur la voie publique."

Y el hombre viejo dijo: Paz sea contigo; tu necesidad toda sea solamente á mi cargo, con tal que no tengas la noche en la plaza.

And the old man said, Peace be with thee; howsoever let all thy wants lie upon me; only lodge not in the street.

The old man said, “Peace be to you! Just let me supply all your needs, but don’t sleep in the street.”

Il le fit entrer chez lui et donna la provende aux ânes; et les voyageurs lavèrent leurs pieds, mangèrent et burent.

Y metiéndolos en su casa, dió de comer á sus asnos; y ellos se lavaron los pies, y comieron y bebieron.

So he brought him into his house, and gave provender unto the asses: and they washed their feet, and did eat and drink.

Tandis qu’ils se délectaient, voici que les gens de la ville, des hommes dépravés, investirent la maison, frappant à la porte, et criant au vieillard, au maître du logis: "Fais sortir l’homme qui est venu chez toi, que nous le connaissions!"

Y cuando estaban gozosos, he aquí, que los hombres de aquella ciudad, hombres hijos de Belial, cercan la casa, y batían las puertas, diciendo al hombre viejo dueño de la casa: Saca fuera el hombre que ha entrado en tu casa, para que lo conozcamos.

Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.

Le maître du logis sortit à leur appel et leur dit: "Non, mes frères, de grâce, n’agissez pas si méchamment! Puisque cet homme est venu sous mon toit, ne commettez pas une telle infamie!

Y saliendo á ellos aquel varón, amo de la casa, díjoles: No, hermanos míos, ruégoos que no cometáis este mal, pues que este hombre ha entrado en mi casa, no hagáis esta maldad.

And the man, the master of the house, went out unto them, and said unto them, Nay, my brethren, nay, I pray you, do not so wickedly; seeing that this man is come into mine house, do not this folly.

J’ai une fille encore vierge, il a une concubine, je vais vous les livrer; abusez d’elles, traitez-les comme il vous plaira, mais ne commettez pas sur cet homme une action si odieuse."

He aquí mi hija virgen, y la concubina de él: yo os las sacaré ahora; humilladlas, y haced con ellas como os pareciere, y no hagáis á este hombre cosa tan infame.

Arrivé chez lui, il prit un couteau, et, saisissant le corps de sa concubine, le divisa par membres en douze morceaux, qu’il envoya dans tout le territoire d’Israël.

And it was so, that all that saw it said, There was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt unto this day: consider of it, take advice, and speak your minds.
