Après la mort de Josué, les enfants d'Israël consultèrent Yahweh, en disant : " Qui de nous montera le premier contre les Chananéens pour les combattre ? "

Y ACONTECIÓ después de la muerte de Josué, que los hijos de Israel consultaron á Jehová, diciendo: ¿Quién subirá por nosotros el primero á pelear contra los Cananeos?

Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?

Yahweh répondit : " Juda montera ; voici que j'ai livré le pays entre ses mains. "

Y Jehová respondió: Judá subirá; he aquí que yo he entregado la tierra en sus manos.

And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

Caleb dit : " A celui qui frappera Cariath-Sépher et qui la prendra, je donnerai pour femme ma fille Axa. "

Y dijo Caleb: El que hiriere á Chîriath-sepher, y la tomare, yo le daré á Axa mi hija por mujer.

And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

Othoniel, fils de Cénez, frère cadet de Caleb, s'en empara, et Caleb lui donna sa fille Axa pour femme.

And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted from off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wilt thou?
