Muerto Josué, los hijos de Israel consultaron al Señor, diciendo: ¿Quién marchará delante de nosotros contra el cananeo, y será nuestro caudillo para continuar la guerra?
Y ACONTECIÓ después de la muerte de Josué, que los hijos de Israel consultaron á Jehová, diciendo: ¿Quién subirá por nosotros el primero á pelear contra los Cananeos?
Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?

Y respondió el Señor: La tribu de Judá marchará delante de vosotros: Yo le he entregado en sus manos aquel país.

And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

Saliendo de aquí fueron a pelear contra el cananeo, que habitaba en las montañas, hacia el mediodía, y en los llanos.

Y habiéndola conquistado Otoniel, hijo de Cenez, hermano menor de Caleb, le dio a su hija Axa por mujer:

a la cual, estando de camino, sugirió su esposo que pidiese a su padre una heredad. Y como ella, yendo sentada sobre un asno, comenzase a suspirar, le dijo Caleb: ¿Qué tienes?
