Y El ángel de Jehová subió de Gilgal á Bochîm, y dijo: Yo os saqué de Egipto, y os introduje en la tierra de la cual había jurado á vuestros padres; y dije: No invalidaré jamás mi pacto con vosotros;
And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.

Por lo mismo, yo tampoco he querido exterminarlos de vuestra presencia, a fin de que tengáis enemigos, y sus dioses sean para vuestra ruina.
Con tal que vosotros no hagáis alianza con los moradores de aquesta tierra, cuyos altares habéis de derribar: mas vosotros no habéis atendido á mi voz: ¿por qué habéis hecho esto?
And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?

Al decir el ángel del Señor estas palabras a todos los hijos de Israel, alzaron éstos el grito, y se pusieron a llorar;
Por tanto yo también dije: No los echaré de delante de vosotros, sino que os serán por azote para vuestros costados, y sus dioses por tropiezo.
Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

de donde aquel lugar se llamó lugar de los Lloradores, o de las lágrimas; y ofrecieron allí sacrificios al Señor.
Y como el ángel de Jehová habló estas palabras á todos los hijos de Israel, el pueblo lloró en alta voz.
And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

Despedido que fue el pueblo o ejército por Josué, y vueltos los hijos de Israel a disfrutar cada cual la posesión que le había tocado en suerte,

sirvieron al Señor todos los días de la vida de Josué y de los ancianos que vivieron después de él por largo tiempo, y habían visto todas las obras maravillosas que había hecho el Señor por Israel.

Y dejaron á Jehová el Dios de sus padres, que los había sacado de la tierra de Egipto, y fuéronse tras otros dioses, los dioses de los pueblos que estaban en sus alrededores, á los cuales adoraron; y provocaron á ira á Jehová.
And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.

Y el furor de Jehová se encendió contra Israel, el cual los entregó en manos de robadores que los despojaron, y los vendió en manos de sus enemigos de alrededor: y no pudieron parar más delante de sus enemigos.
And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

Suscitó el Señor jueces que los librasen de las manos de sus opresores; pero ni aún a los jueces quisieron escuchar,
Por donde quiera que salían, la mano de Jehová era contra ellos para mal, como Jehová había dicho, y como Jehová se lo había jurado; así los afligió en gran manera.

prostituyéndose de nuevo a dioses ajenos, y adorándolos. Dejaron presto el camino por donde anduvieron sus padres, y por más que oyeron de su boca los mandamientos del Señor, hicieron todo lo contrario.

Cuando el Señor les suscitaba jueces, mientras éstos vivían se apiadaba de ellos, y oía los gemidos de los atribulados, los libraba de la crueldad de sus verdugos;
Y tampoco oyeron á sus jueces, sino que fornicaron tras dioses ajenos, á los cuales adoraron: apartáronse bien presto del camino en que anduvieron sus padres obedeciendo á los mandamientos de Jehová; mas ellos no hicieron así.
And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so.

mas luego que moría el juez, reincidían, y hacían cosas mucho peores que las que habían hecho sus padres, siguiendo a los dioses ajenos, sirviéndolos y adorándolos. No dejaron sus devaneos, ni el obstinado tenor de vida a que se habían acostumbrado.
Y cuando Jehová les suscitaba jueces, Jehová era con el juez, y librábalos de mano de los enemigos todo el tiempo de aquel juez: porque Jehová se arrepentía por sus gemidos á causa de los que los oprimían y afligían.
And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.

Así el furor del Señor se inflamó contra Israel, y dijo: Por cuanto esta gente ha invalidado el pacto que yo había hecho con sus padres, y se ha desdeñado de escuchar mi voz,
Mas en muriendo el juez, ellos se tornaban, y se corrompían más que sus padres, siguiendo dioses ajenos para servirles, é inclinándose delante de ellos; y nada disminuían de sus obras, ni de su duro camino.
And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.
But when the judge was dead, they turned back, and dealt more corruptly than their fathers in following other gods to serve them and to bow down to them. They didn’t cease what they were doing, or give up their stubborn ways.
yo no exterminaré las naciones que dejó Josué cuando murió;
Y la ira de Jehová se encendió contra Israel, y dijo: Pues que esta gente traspasa mi pacto que ordené á sus padres, y no obedecen mi voz,
And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;
The LORD’s anger burned against Israel; and he said, “Because this nation transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not listened to my voice,
porque quiero experimentar si viviendo los hijos de Israel entre ellas, siguen o no el camino del Señor, y andan por él, así como le siguieron y anduvieron por él sus padres.
Tampoco yo echaré más de delante de ellos á ninguna de aquestas gentes que dejó Josué cuando murió;
I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:
I also will no longer drive out any of the nations that Joshua left when he died from before them;
Por esto dejó el Señor todas estas naciones, y no quiso acabarlas luego, ni las entregó en manos de Josué.
Para que por ellas probara yo á Israel, si guardarían ellos el camino de Jehová andando por él, como sus padres lo guardaron, ó no.
That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.
that by them I may test Israel, to see if they will keep the LORD’s way to walk therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.”
Estas son las naciones que dejó subsistir el Señor, y con el fin de instruir por medio de ellas a Israel, y a todos los que no tenían experiencia de las guerras de los cananeos;
Por esto dejó Jehová aquellas gentes, y no las desarraigó luego, ni las entregó en mano de Josué.
Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.
So the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily. He didn’t deliver them into Joshua’s hand.
