Voici les nations que Yahweh laissa en repos pour éprouver par elles Israël, tous ceux qui n'avaient pas connu toutes les guerres de Chanaan,

ESTAS, pues, son las gentes que dejó Jehová para probar con ellas á Israel, á todos aquellos que no habían conocido todas las guerras de Canaán;

Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

et cela uniquement pour l'instruction des générations d'Israël, afin de leur apprendre la guerre, à ceux-là du moins qui ne l'avaient pas connue auparavant.

Para que al menos el linaje de los hijos de Israel conociese, para enseñarlos en la guerra, siquiera fuese á los que antes no la habían conocido:

Ces peuples devaient servir à mettre Israël à l'épreuve, pour savoir s'ils obéiraient aux commandements que Yahweh avait prescrits à leurs pères par Moïse.

Estos pues fueron para probar por ellos á Israel, para saber si obedecerían á los mandamientos de Jehová, que él había prescrito á sus padres por mano de Moisés.

And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

ils prirent leurs filles pour femmes, et donnèrent à leurs fils leurs propres filles, et ils servirent leurs dieux.

Y la saña de Jehová se encendió contra Israel, y vendiólos en manos de Chusan-risathaim, rey de Mesopotamia; y sirvieron los hijos de Israel á Chusan-risathaim ocho años.

Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan-rishathaim eight years.

Les enfants d'Israël firent de nouveau ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, et Yahweh fortifia Eglon, roi de Moab, contre Israël, parce qu'ils faisaient ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh.

Y tornaron los hijos de Israel á hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová; y Jehová esforzó á Eglón rey de Moab contra Israel, por cuanto habían hecho lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová.

And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.

Eglon s'adjoignit les fils d'Ammon et Amalec, et il se mit en marche. Il battit Israël, et ils s'emparèrent de la ville des Palmiers.

But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.

But when the children of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up a savior for them: Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a left-handed man. The children of Israel sent tribute by him to Eglon the king of Moab.

Aod se fit une épée à deux tranchants, longue d'une coudée, et il la ceignit sous ses vêtements, sur sa hanche droite.

Y Aod se había hecho un puñal de dos filos, de un codo de largo; y ciñósele debajo de sus vestidos á su lado derecho.

But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.

Il offrit le Présent à Eglon. roi de Moab ; or Eglon était un homme très gras.

Y presentó el presente á Eglón rey de Moab; y era Eglón hombre muy grueso.

And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.

He offered the tribute to Eglon king of Moab. Now Eglon was a very fat man.

Lorsqu'il eut achevé d'offrir le présent, il renvoya les gens qui avaient apporté le présent.

Y luego que hubo presentado el don, despidió á la gente que lo había traído.

And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present.

Et lui-même revint depuis les idoles qui sont près de Galgala, et il dit : " O roi, j'ai quelque chose de secret à te dire. " Le roi dit : " Silence ! " Et tous ceux qui étaient auprès de lui sortirent.

But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.

But he himself turned back from the stone idols that were by Gilgal, and said, “I have a secret message for you, O king.” The king said, “Keep silence!” All who stood by him left him.

Aod l'aborda comme il était assis seul dans sa chambre d'été, et il dit : " J'ai pour toi une parole de Dieu. " Eglon se leva de son siège.

Y llegóse Aod á él, el cual estaba sentado solo en una sala de verano. Y Aod dijo: Tengo palabra de Dios para ti. El entonces se levantó de la silla.

And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.

Ehud came to him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. Ehud said, “I have a message from God to you.” He arose out of his seat.

Alors Aod, avançant la main gauche, tira l'épée qui était sur sa hanche droite, et la lui enfonça dans le ventre.

Mas Aod metió su mano izquierda, y tomó el puñal de su lado derecho, y metióselo por el vientre;

And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:

Ehud put out his left hand, and took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his body.

La poignée même entra après la lame, et la graisse se referma sur la lame ; car il ne retira pas l'épée de son ventre, et la lame sortit par derrière.

De tal manera que la empuñadura entró también tras la hoja, y la grosura encerró la hoja, que él no sacó el puñal de su vientre: y salió el estiércol.

And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.

The handle also went in after the blade; and the fat closed on the blade, for he didn’t draw the sword out of his body; and it came out behind.

Aod sortit par l'escalier extérieur, ferma sur Eglon les portes de la chambre haute et tira le verrou.

Y saliendo Aod al patio, cerró tras sí las puertas de la sala.

Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them.

Quand il fut sorti, les serviteurs du roi vinrent et regardèrent ; et voici que les portes de la chambre haute étaient fermées au verrou. Ils dirent : " Sans doute il se couvre les pieds dans la chambre d'été. "

Y salido él, vinieron sus siervos, los cuales viendo las puertas de la sala cerradas, dijeron: Sin duda él cubre sus pies en la sala de verano.

When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.

After he had gone, his servants came and saw that the doors of the upper room were locked. They said, “Surely he is covering his feet in the upper room.”

Ils attendirent longtemps jusqu'à en avoir honte, et, comme il n'ouvrait pas les portes de la chambre haute, ils prirent la clef et ouvrirent ; et voici que leur maître gisait par terre, sans vie.

Y habiendo esperado hasta estar confusos, pues que él no abría las puertas de la sala, tomaron la llave y abrieron: y he aquí su señor caído en tierra muerto.

And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.

They waited until they were ashamed; and behold, he didn’t open the doors of the upper room. Therefore they took the key and opened them, and behold, their lord had fallen down dead on the floor.

Pendant leurs délais, Aod prit la fuite, dépassa les idoles et se sauva à Séïrath.

Mas entre tanto que ellos se detuvieron, Aod se escapó, y pasando los ídolos, salvóse en Seirath.

And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath.

Aussitôt arrivé, il sonna de la trompette dans la montagne d'Ephraïm. Les enfants d'Israël descendirent avec lui de la montagne, et il se mit à leur tête.

Y como hubo entrado, tocó el cuerno en el monte de Ephraim, y los hijos de Israel descendieron con él del monte, y él iba delante de ellos.

And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.

Il leur dit : " Suivez-moi ! car Yahweh a livré entre vos mains vos ennemis, les Moabites. " Ils descendirent à sa suite, s'emparèrent des gués du Jourdain vis-à-vis de Moab, et ne laissèrent passer personne.

Entonces él les dijo: Seguidme, porque Jehová ha entregado vuestros enemigos los Moabitas en vuestras manos. Y descendieron en pos de él, y tomaron los vados del Jordán á Moab, y no dejaron pasar á ninguno.

And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.

He said to them, “Follow me; for the LORD has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand.” They followed him, and took the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites, and didn’t allow any man to pass over.

Ils battirent Moab en ce temps-là, environ dix mille hommes, tous robustes et tous vaillants, et pas un n'échappa.

Y en aquel tiempo hirieron de los Moabitas como diez mil hombres, todos valientes y todos hombres de guerra; no escapó hombre.

And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.

They struck at that time about ten thousand men of Moab, every strong man and every man of valor. No man escaped.

En ce jour, Moab fut humilié sous la main d'Israël, et le pays fut en repos pendant quatre-vingt ans.

Así quedó Moab sojuzgado aquel día bajo la mano de Israel: y reposó la tierra ochenta años.
