OR Abimelec, figliuolo di Ierubbaal, andò in Sichem a' fratelli di sua madre, e parlò loro, e a tutta la famiglia della casa del padre di sua madre, dicendo:

Y FUÉSE Abimelech hijo de Jerobaal á Sichêm, á los hermanos de su madre, y habló con ellos, y con toda la familia de la casa del padre de su madre, diciendo:

And Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem unto his mother’s brethren, and communed with them, and with all the family of the house of his mother’s father, saying,

Deh! parlate a tutti i Sichemiti, e dite loro: Qual cosa è migliore per voi, che settant'uomini, cioè tutti i figliuoli di Ierubbaal, signoreggino sopra voi, ovvero, che un uomo solo signoreggi sopra voi? ricordatevi ancora che io sono vostre ossa, e vostra carne.

Yo os ruego que habléis á oídos de todos los de Sichêm: ¿Qué tenéis por mejor, que os señoreen setenta hombres, todos los hijos de Jerobaal; ó que os señoree un varón? Acordaos que yo soy hueso vuestro, y carne vuestra.

Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.

“Please speak in the ears of all the men of Shechem, ‘Is it better for you that all the sons of Jerubbaal, who are seventy persons, rule over you, or that one rule over you?’ Remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.”

E i fratelli di sua madre parlarono di lui a tutti i Sichemiti, e dissero loro tutte quelle parole; e il cuor loro s'inchinò a seguitare Abimelec; perchè dissero: Egli è nostro fratello.

Y hablaron por él los hermanos de su madre á oídos de todos los de Sichêm todas estas palabras: y el corazón de ellos se inclinó en favor de Abimelech, porque decían: Nuestro hermano es.

E gli diedero settanta sicli d'argento, tolti dal tempio di Baal-berit, co' quali Abimelec soldò degli uomini da nulla, e vagabondi, i quali lo seguitarono.

And they gave him threescore and ten pieces of silver out of the house of Baal-berith, wherewith Abimelech hired vain and light persons, which followed him.

Y viniendo á la casa de su padre en Ophra, mató á sus hermanos los hijos de Jerobaal, setenta varones, sobre una piedra: mas quedó Jotham, el más pequeño hijo de Jerobaal, que se escondió.

And he went unto his father’s house at Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, being threescore and ten persons, upon one stone: notwithstanding yet Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he hid himself.

Poi tutti i Sichemiti, e tutta la casa di Millo, si adunarono insieme, e andarono, e costituirono re Abimelec, presso alla quercia dove era rizzato il piliere in Sichem.

Y reunidos todos los de Sichêm con toda la casa de Millo, fueron y eligieron á Abimelech por rey, cerca de la llanura del pilar que estaba en Sichêm.

And all the men of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the plain of the pillar that was in Shechem.

E ciò essendo rapportato a Giotam, egli andò, e si fermò in su la sommità del monte di Gherizim; e alzò la voce, e gridò, e disse loro: Ascoltatemi, Sichemiti, e così vi ascolti Iddio.

Y como se lo dijesen á Jotham, fué y púsose en la cumbre del monte de Gerizim, y alzando su voz clamó, y díjoles: Oidme, varones de Sichêm; que Dios os oiga.

And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, ye men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.

Ma l'ulivo disse loro: Resterei io di produrre il mio olio, il quale Iddio e gli uomini onorano in me, per andar vagando per gli altri alberi?

Mas la oliva respondió: ¿Tengo de dejar mi pingüe jugo, con el que por mi causa Dios y los hombres son honrados, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?

But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?

“But the olive tree said to them, ‘Should I stop producing my oil, with which they honor God and man by me, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?’

Poi gli alberi dissero al fico: Vieni tu, regna sopra noi.

Y dijeron los árboles á la higuera: Anda tú, reina sobre nosotros.

Ma il fico disse loro: Resterei io di produrre la mia dolcezza, e il mio buon frutto, per andar vagando per gli altri alberi?

Y respondió la higuera: ¿Tengo de dejar mi dulzura y mi buen fruto, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?

But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees?

“But the fig tree said to them, ‘Should I leave my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?’

E gli alberi dissero alla vite: Vieni tu, regna sopra noi.

Ma la vite disse loro: Resterei io di produrre il mio mosto, che rallegra Iddio e gli uomini, per andar vagando per gli altri alberi?

Y la vid les respondió: ¿Tengo de dejar mi mosto, que alegra á Dios y á los hombres, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?

And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?

“The vine said to them, ‘Should I leave my new wine, which cheers God and man, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?’

Allora tutti gli alberi dissero al pruno: Vieni tu, regna sopra noi.

Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, and reign over us.

E il pruno disse agli alberi: Se ciò che voi fate, ungendomi per re sopra voi, è con verità, venite, riparatevi sotto alla mia ombra; se no, esca il fuoco dal pruno, e consumi i cedri del Libano.

Y el escaramujo respondió á los árboles: Si en verdad me elegís por rey sobre vosotros, venid, y aseguraos debajo de mi sombra: y si no, fuego salga del escaramujo que devore los cedros del Líbano.

And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.

“The bramble said to the trees, ‘If in truth you anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.’

Ora altresì, se voi siete proceduti con verità e con integrità, costituendo Abimelec re; e se avete operato bene inverso Ierubbaal, e inverso la sua casa; e se voi gli avete renduta la retribuzione delle sue opere

Ahora pues, si con verdad y con integridad habéis procedido en hacer rey á Abimelech, y si lo habéis hecho bien con Jerobaal y con su casa, y si le habéis pagado conforme á la obra de sus manos;

Now therefore, if ye have done truly and sincerely, in that ye have made Abimelech king, and if ye have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done unto him according to the deserving of his hands;

“Now therefore, if you have dealt truly and righteously, in that you have made Abimelech king, and if you have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done to him according to the deserving of his hands

(conciossiachè mio padre abbia guerreggiato per voi, e abbia cacciato dietro alle spalle ogni riguardo alla sua vita, e vi abbia riscossi dalla mano de' Madianiti.

(Pues que mi padre peleó por vosotros, y echó lejos su vida por libraros de mano de Madián;

(For my father fought for you, and adventured his life far, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian:

Ma oggi voi vi siete sollevati contro alla casa di mio padre, e avete uccisi sopra una medesima pietra i suoi figliuoli, in numero di settant'uomini, e avete costituito re sopra i Sichemiti Abimelec, figliuolo della sua serva, perciocchè egli è vostro fratello);

Y vosotros os levantasteis hoy contra la casa de mi padre, y matasteis sus hijos, setenta varones, sobre una piedra; y habéis puesto por rey sobre los de Sichêm á Abimelech, hijo de su criada, por cuanto es vuestro hermano:)

And ye are risen up against my father’s house this day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother;)

se, dico, siete oggi proceduti con verità e con integrità, verso Ierubbaal e verso la sua casa, godete d'Abimelec, e Abimelec goda di voi;

Si con verdad y con integridad habéis obrado hoy con Jerobaal y con su casa, que gocéis de Abimelech, y él goce de vosotros.

If ye then have dealt truly and sincerely with Jerubbaal and with his house this day, then rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you:

if you then have dealt truly and righteously with Jerubbaal and with his house today, then rejoice in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you;

se no, esca il fuoco d'Abimelec, e consumi i Sichemiti e la casa di Millo; esca parimente il fuoco de' Sichemiti e della casa di Millo, e consumi Abimelec.

Y si no, fuego salga de Abimelech, que consuma á los de Sichêm y á la casa de Millo; y fuego salga de los de Sichêm y de la casa de Millo, que consuma á Abimelech.

But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.

Poi Giotam scampò e se ne fuggì d'innanzi ad Abimelec suo fratello, e andò in Beer, e quivi dimorò.

E Abimelec signoreggiò sopra Israele tre anni.

Y después que Abimelech hubo dominado sobre Israel tres años,

E Iddio mandò uno spirito maligno fra Abimelec e i Sichemiti; e i Sichemiti ruppero la fede ad Abimelec;

Envió Dios un espíritu malo entre Abimelech y los hombres de Sichêm: que los de Sichêm se levantaron contra Abimelech:

Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:

acciocchè la violenza fatta a' settanta figliuoli di Ierubbaal, e il sangue loro, venisse ad esser messo addosso ad Abimelec lor fratello, il quale li avea uccisi; e addosso a' Sichemiti, i quali aveano tenuta mano con lui a uccidere i suoi fratelli.

Para que el agravio de los setenta hijos de Jerobaal, y la sangre de ellos, viniera á ponerse sobre Abimelech su hermano que los mató, y sobre los hombres de Sichêm que corroboraron las manos de él para matar á sus hermanos.

That the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, which slew them; and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.

that the violence done to the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might come, and that their blood might be laid on Abimelech their brother who killed them, and on the men of Shechem who strengthened his hands to kill his brothers.

I Sichemiti adunque gli posero agguati in su le sommità de' monti, i quali rubavano in su la strada chiunque passava appresso di loro. E ciò fu rapportato ad Abimelec.

Y pusiéronle los de Sichêm asechadores en las cumbres de los montes, los cuales salteaban á todos los que pasaban junto á ellos por el camino; de lo que fué dado aviso á Abimelech.

Y saliendo al campo, vendimiaron sus viñas, y pisaron la uva, é hicieron alegrías; y entrando en el templo de sus dioses, comieron y bebieron, y maldijeron á Abimelech.

And they went out into the fields, and gathered their vineyards, and trode the grapes, and made merry, and went into the house of their god, and did eat and drink, and cursed Abimelech.

And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him?

Gaal the son of Ebed said, “Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? Isn’t he the son of Jerubbaal? Isn’t Zebul his officer? Serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem, but why should we serve him?

Oh! fossemi pur data questa gente sotto la mia condotta, io caccerei Abimelec. Poi disse ad Abimelec: Accresci pure il tuo esercito, e vien fuori.

Fuérame dado este pueblo bajo de mi mano, yo echaría luego á Abimelech. Y decía á Abimelech: Aumenta tus escuadrones, y sal.

And would to God this people were under my hand! then would I remove Abimelech. And he said to Abimelech, Increase thine army, and come out.

E Zebul, capitano della città, avendo udite le parole di Gaal, figliuolo di Ebed, si accese nell'ira.

Y Zebul asistente de la ciudad, oyendo las palabras de Gaal hijo de Ebed, encendióse su ira;

And when Zebul the ruler of the city heard the words of Gaal the son of Ebed, his anger was kindled.

E cautamente mandò messi ad Abimelec, a dirgli: Ecco, Gaal, figliuolo di Ebed, e i suoi fratelli, son venuti in Sichem; ed ecco, stringono la città contro a te.

Y envió sagazmente mensajeros á Abimelech, diciendo: He aquí que Gaal hijo de Ebed y sus hermanos han venido á Sichêm, y he aquí, que han cercado la ciudad contra ti.

And he sent messengers unto Abimelech privily, saying, Behold, Gaal the son of Ebed and his brethren be come to Shechem; and, behold, they fortify the city against thee.

e domattina a buon'ora, in sul levar del sole, levati, e fa' una correria sopra la città; ed ecco, egli e la gente ch'è con lui, uscirà incontro a te, e tu gli farai secondo che ti occorrerà.

Y por la mañana al salir del sol te levantarás y acometerás la ciudad: y él y el pueblo que está con él saldrán contra ti, y tu harás con él según que se te ofrecerá.

And it shall be, that in the morning, as soon as the sun is up, thou shalt rise early, and set upon the city: and, behold, when he and the people that is with him come out against thee, then mayest thou do to them as thou shalt find occasion.

Abimelec adunque si levò di notte, con tutta la gente ch'era con lui, e stettero agli agguati contro a Sichem, in quattro schiere.

Levantándose pues de noche Abimelech y todo el pueblo que con él estaba, pusieron emboscada contra Sichêm con cuatro compañías.

E Gaal, veduta quella gente, disse a Zebul: Ecco della gente, che scende dalle sommità de' monti. E Zebul gli disse: Tu vedi l'ombra de' monti, e ti pare che sieno uomini.

Y viendo Gaal el pueblo, dijo á Zebul: He allí pueblo que desciende de las cumbres de los montes. Y Zebul le respondió: La sombra de los montes te parece hombres.

And when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, Behold, there come people down from the top of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, Thou seest the shadow of the mountains as if they were men.

When Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, “Behold, people are coming down from the tops of the mountains.” Zebul said to him, “You see the shadows of the mountains as if they were men.”

E Gaal parlò di nuovo, e disse: Ecco della gente che scende dal bellico del paese, ed una schiera che viene dalla via del querceto degl'indovini.

Mas Gaal tornó á hablar, y dijo: He allí pueblo que desciende por medio de la tierra, y un escuadrón viene camino de la campiña de Meonenim.

And Gaal spake again and said, See there come people down by the middle of the land, and another company come along by the plain of Meonenim.

Gaal spoke again and said, “Behold, people are coming down by the middle of the land, and one company comes by the way of the oak of Meonenim.”

E Zebul gli disse: Dove è ora la tua bocca, con la quale tu dicevi: Chi è Abimelec, che noi gli serviamo? Non è egli questo popolo quello che tu sprezzavi? Deh! esci ora fuori, e combatti con lui.

Y Zebul le respondió: ¿Dónde está ahora aquel tu hablar, diciendo: Quién es Abimelech para que le sirvamos? ¿No es este el pueblo que tenías en poco? Sal pues ahora, y pelea con él.

Then said Zebul unto him, Where is now thy mouth, wherewith thou saidst, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? is not this the people that thou hast despised? go out, I pray now, and fight with them.

Then Zebul said to him, “Now where is your mouth, that you said, ‘Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him?’ Isn’t this the people that you have despised? Please go out now and fight with them.”

Allora Gaal uscì fuori davanti a' Sichemiti, e combattè con Abimelec.

And Abimelech dwelt at Arumah: and Zebul thrust out Gaal and his brethren, that they should not dwell in Shechem.

E il giorno seguente, il popolo di Sichem uscì fuori a' campi; e ciò fu rapportato ad Abimelec.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that the people went out into the field; and they told Abimelech.

El cual, tomando gente, repartióla en tres compañías, y puso emboscadas en el campo: y como miró, he aquí el pueblo que salía de la ciudad; y levantóse contra ellos, é hiriólos:
