Et Abimélech, fils de Jérobaal, alla trouver à Sichem les frères de sa mère, et il parla à eux et à toute la famille du père de sa mère, disant :

Y FUÉSE Abimelech hijo de Jerobaal á Sichêm, á los hermanos de su madre, y habló con ellos, y con toda la familia de la casa del padre de su madre, diciendo:

Dites donc à tous les hommes de Sichem : Quel est le meilleur pour vous d'être gouvernés par soixante-dix hommes, tous fils de Jérobaal, ou de n'avoir qu'un seul chef ? Et n'oubliez pas que je suis de vos os et de votre chair.

Yo os ruego que habléis á oídos de todos los de Sichêm: ¿Qué tenéis por mejor, que os señoreen setenta hombres, todos los hijos de Jerobaal; ó que os señoree un varón? Acordaos que yo soy hueso vuestro, y carne vuestra.

Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.

“Please speak in the ears of all the men of Shechem, ‘Is it better for you that all the sons of Jerubbaal, who are seventy persons, rule over you, or that one rule over you?’ Remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.”

Et les frères de sa mère parlèrent de lui à tous les hommes de Sichem, de sorte que leur cœur inclina pour Abimélech, parce que, dirent-ils, c'est notre frère.

Y hablaron por él los hermanos de su madre á oídos de todos los de Sichêm todas estas palabras: y el corazón de ellos se inclinó en favor de Abimelech, porque decían: Nuestro hermano es.

Ils lui donnèrent donc soixante-dix sicles d'argent du temple du Baal- Berith. Et Abimélech prit à son service des mercenaires méchants et dénués de tout, qui le suivirent.

Aussitôt, il entra dans la maison de son père, en Ephratha, et massacra, sur une même pierre, ses frères, les fils de Jérobaal, soixante-dix hommes. Il n'y eut d'épargné que Joatham, le plus jeune fils de Jérobaal, parce qu'il s'était caché.

Y viniendo á la casa de su padre en Ophra, mató á sus hermanos los hijos de Jerobaal, setenta varones, sobre una piedra: mas quedó Jotham, el más pequeño hijo de Jerobaal, que se escondió.

And he went unto his father’s house at Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, being threescore and ten persons, upon one stone: notwithstanding yet Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he hid himself.

And all the men of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the plain of the pillar that was in Shechem.

On l'apprit à Joatham, et il partit ; il s'en fut sur la cime du mont Garizin ; là, il éleva la voix, il pleura, et il leur dit : Ecoutez-moi, hommes de Sichem, et Dieu vous écoutera.

Y como se lo dijesen á Jotham, fué y púsose en la cumbre del monte de Gerizim, y alzando su voz clamó, y díjoles: Oidme, varones de Sichêm; que Dios os oiga.

Et l'olivier leur dit : Puis-je abandonner mon huile dont les hommes se servent pour honorer Dieu, et m'en aller pour être élevé à la tête des arbres ?

Mas la oliva respondió: ¿Tengo de dejar mi pingüe jugo, con el que por mi causa Dios y los hombres son honrados, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?

But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?

“But the olive tree said to them, ‘Should I stop producing my oil, with which they honor God and man by me, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?’

Et les arbres dirent au figuier : Viens, règne sur nous.

Y dijeron los árboles á la higuera: Anda tú, reina sobre nosotros.

And the trees said to the fig tree, Come thou, and reign over us.

Et le figuier leur dit : Puis-je abandonner mon doux suc et mes excellents fruits, et m'en aller pour être élevé à la tête des autres arbres ?

Y respondió la higuera: ¿Tengo de dejar mi dulzura y mi buen fruto, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?

But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees?

“But the fig tree said to them, ‘Should I leave my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?’

Et les arbres dirent à la vigne : Viens, règne sur nous.

Dijeron luego los árboles á la vid: Pues ven tú, reina sobre nosotros.

Then said the trees unto the vine, Come thou, and reign over us.

Et la vigne leur dit : Puis-je abandonner mon vin qui réjouit Dieu et les hommes, et m'en aller pour être élevé à la tête des arbres ?

Y la vid les respondió: ¿Tengo de dejar mi mosto, que alegra á Dios y á los hombres, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?

And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?

“The vine said to them, ‘Should I leave my new wine, which cheers God and man, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?’

Et tous les arbres dirent au nerprun : Viens, toi, et règne sur nous.

Dijeron entonces todos los árboles al escaramujo: Anda tú, reina sobre nosotros.

Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, and reign over us.

“Then all the trees said to the bramble, ‘Come and reign over us.’

Et le nerprun dit aux arbres : Si, en vérité, vous me donnez l'onction pour que je règne sur vous, venez, demeurez sous mon ombre ; sinon, qu'une flamme sorte de moi et qu'elle dévore les cèdres du Liban.

Y el escaramujo respondió á los árboles: Si en verdad me elegís por rey sobre vosotros, venid, y aseguraos debajo de mi sombra: y si no, fuego salga del escaramujo que devore los cedros del Líbano.

And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.

“The bramble said to the trees, ‘If in truth you anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.’

Et vous, maintenant, si c'est en vérité et en toute perfection que vous avez agi, et que vous avez proclamé roi Abimélech, si vous avez traité avec bienveillance Jérobaal et sa maison, et si vous avez dignement récompensé mon père

Ahora pues, si con verdad y con integridad habéis procedido en hacer rey á Abimelech, y si lo habéis hecho bien con Jerobaal y con su casa, y si le habéis pagado conforme á la obra de sus manos;

D'avoir commandé vos armées, jeté sa vie aux hasards des combats, et délivré Israël des mains de Madian ;

(Pues que mi padre peleó por vosotros, y echó lejos su vida por libraros de mano de Madián;

(For my father fought for you, and adventured his life far, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian:

And ye are risen up against my father’s house this day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother;)

Si c'est en vérité et en toute perfection que vous avez agi envers Jérobaal et toute sa famille, faites votre joie d'Abimélech, et que lui aussi mette sa joie en vous.

Si con verdad y con integridad habéis obrado hoy con Jerobaal y con su casa, que gocéis de Abimelech, y él goce de vosotros.

If ye then have dealt truly and sincerely with Jerubbaal and with his house this day, then rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you:

if you then have dealt truly and righteously with Jerubbaal and with his house today, then rejoice in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you;

Sinon, qu'une flamme sorte d'Abimélech, qu'elle dévore les hommes de Sichem et la maison de Bethmaalo, et qu'une flamme sorte des hommes de Sichem et de la maison de Bethmaalo, et qu'elle dévore Abimélech.

Y si no, fuego salga de Abimelech, que consuma á los de Sichêm y á la casa de Millo; y fuego salga de los de Sichêm y de la casa de Millo, que consuma á Abimelech.

But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.

Ensuite Joatham s'enfuit, il courut, et se rendit à Béor, où il demeura loin de son frère Abimélech.

Para que el agravio de los setenta hijos de Jerobaal, y la sangre de ellos, viniera á ponerse sobre Abimelech su hermano que los mató, y sobre los hombres de Sichêm que corroboraron las manos de él para matar á sus hermanos.

That the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, which slew them; and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.

Et Gaal, fils de Jobel, survint avec ses frères ; ils passèrent à Sichem, et les hommes de Sichem espérèrent en lui.

Y Gaal hijo de Ebed dijo: ¿Quién es Abimelech y qué es Sichêm, para que nosotros á él sirvamos? ¿no es hijo de Jerobaal? ¿y no es Zebul su asistente? Servid á los varones de Hemor padre de Sichêm: mas ¿por qué habíamos de servir á él?

And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him?

Que l'on remette le peuple entre mes mains, et j'expulserai cet Abimélech, et je lui dirai : Complète ton armée et sors.

Or, Zébul, chef de la ville, apprit les discours de Gaal, fils de Jobel, et il en fut courroucé.

Y Zebul asistente de la ciudad, oyendo las palabras de Gaal hijo de Ebed, encendióse su ira;

Et il dépêcha secrètement des messagers à Abimélech, disant : Voilà que Gaal, fils de Jobel, et ses frères, sont venus à Sichem, et ils campent autour de la ville contre toi.

Y envió sagazmente mensajeros á Abimelech, diciendo: He aquí que Gaal hijo de Ebed y sus hermanos han venido á Sichêm, y he aquí, que han cercado la ciudad contra ti.

And he sent messengers unto Abimelech privily, saying, Behold, Gaal the son of Ebed and his brethren be come to Shechem; and, behold, they fortify the city against thee.

Y por la mañana al salir del sol te levantarás y acometerás la ciudad: y él y el pueblo que está con él saldrán contra ti, y tu harás con él según que se te ofrecerá.

And it shall be, that in the morning, as soon as the sun is up, thou shalt rise early, and set upon the city: and, behold, when he and the people that is with him come out against thee, then mayest thou do to them as thou shalt find occasion.

Abimélech et tous ses adhérents partirent donc au milieu de la nuit, et, formant quatre troupes, ils dressèrent une embuscade contre Sichem.

And Gaal spake again and said, See there come people down by the middle of the land, and another company come along by the plain of Meonenim.

Et Zébul lui dit : Qu'est devenue ta langue ; ne disais-tu pas : Qu'est donc cet Abimélech, pour que nous lui soyons asservis ? N'est-ce point là l'armée que tu comptais pour rien ? Marche maintenant, et livre-lui bataille.

Y Zebul le respondió: ¿Dónde está ahora aquel tu hablar, diciendo: Quién es Abimelech para que le sirvamos? ¿No es este el pueblo que tenías en poco? Sal pues ahora, y pelea con él.

Then said Zebul unto him, Where is now thy mouth, wherewith thou saidst, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? is not this the people that thou hast despised? go out, I pray now, and fight with them.

Then Zebul said to him, “Now where is your mouth, that you said, ‘Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him?’ Isn’t this the people that you have despised? Please go out now and fight with them.”

El cual, tomando gente, repartióla en tres compañías, y puso emboscadas en el campo: y como miró, he aquí el pueblo que salía de la ciudad; y levantóse contra ellos, é hiriólos:
