Abimelech aber, der Sohn Jerub-Baals, ging hin nach Sichem, zu den Brüdern seiner Mutter, und redete mit ihnen und mit dem ganzen Geschlecht des Vaterhauses seiner Mutter und sprach:

Y FUÉSE Abimelech hijo de Jerobaal á Sichêm, á los hermanos de su madre, y habló con ellos, y con toda la familia de la casa del padre de su madre, diciendo:

And Abimelech the son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem unto his mother’s brethren, and communed with them, and with all the family of the house of his mother’s father, saying,

Redet doch vor den Ohren aller Bürger von Sichem: Was ist besser für euch, daß siebzig Männer, alle Kinder Jerub-Baals, über euch Herrschen, oder daß ein Mann über euch herrsche? Denket auch daran, daß ich euer Gebein und Fleisch bin!

Yo os ruego que habléis á oídos de todos los de Sichêm: ¿Qué tenéis por mejor, que os señoreen setenta hombres, todos los hijos de Jerobaal; ó que os señoree un varón? Acordaos que yo soy hueso vuestro, y carne vuestra.

Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.

“Please speak in the ears of all the men of Shechem, ‘Is it better for you that all the sons of Jerubbaal, who are seventy persons, rule over you, or that one rule over you?’ Remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.”

Da redeten die Brüder seiner Mutter alle seine Worte vor den Ohren aller Bürger von Sichem. Und ihr Herz neigte sich gegen Abimelech; denn sie sagten: Er ist unser Bruder!

Y hablaron por él los hermanos de su madre á oídos de todos los de Sichêm todas estas palabras: y el corazón de ellos se inclinó en favor de Abimelech, porque decían: Nuestro hermano es.

And his mother’s brethren spake of him in the ears of all the men of Shechem all these words: and their hearts inclined to follow Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.

Und sie gaben ihm siebzig Silberlinge aus dem Hause des Baal-Berit. Und Abimelech dingte damit müßige und leichtfertige Männer, die ihm nachfolgten.

Und er kam in seines Vaters Haus nach Ophra und tötete seine Brüder, die Söhne Jerub-Baals, siebzig Männer auf einem Stein. Jotam aber, der jüngste Sohn Jerub-Baals, blieb übrig; denn er hatte sich versteckt.

Y viniendo á la casa de su padre en Ophra, mató á sus hermanos los hijos de Jerobaal, setenta varones, sobre una piedra: mas quedó Jotham, el más pequeño hijo de Jerobaal, que se escondió.

And he went unto his father’s house at Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, being threescore and ten persons, upon one stone: notwithstanding yet Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left; for he hid himself.

He went to his father’s house at Ophrah, and killed his brothers the sons of Jerubbaal, being seventy persons, on one stone; but Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal was left, for he hid himself.

Und alle Bürger von Sichem und das ganze Haus Millo versammelten sich und gingen hin und machten Abimelech zum König bei der Eiche des Denkmals, die zu Sichem steht.

Y reunidos todos los de Sichêm con toda la casa de Millo, fueron y eligieron á Abimelech por rey, cerca de la llanura del pilar que estaba en Sichêm.

And all the men of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went, and made Abimelech king, by the plain of the pillar that was in Shechem.

Als solches Jotam angesagt ward, ging er hin und trat auf die Höhe des Berges Garizim und erhob seine Stimme, rief und sprach zu ihnen: Hört mir zu, ihr Bürger von Sichem, so wird Gott auch auf euch hören!

Y como se lo dijesen á Jotham, fué y púsose en la cumbre del monte de Gerizim, y alzando su voz clamó, y díjoles: Oidme, varones de Sichêm; que Dios os oiga.

And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, ye men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.

Die Bäume gingen hin, um einen König über sich zu salben, und sprachen zum Ölbaum: Sei unser König!

Aber der Ölbaum antwortete ihnen: Soll ich meine Fettigkeit lassen, die Götter und Menschen an mir preisen, und hingehen, um über den Bäumen zu schweben?

Mas la oliva respondió: ¿Tengo de dejar mi pingüe jugo, con el que por mi causa Dios y los hombres son honrados, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?

But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?

“But the olive tree said to them, ‘Should I stop producing my oil, with which they honor God and man by me, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?’

Da sprachen die Bäume zum Feigenbaum: Komm du und sei König über uns!

Y dijeron los árboles á la higuera: Anda tú, reina sobre nosotros.

And the trees said to the fig tree, Come thou, and reign over us.

“The trees said to the fig tree, ‘Come and reign over us.’

Aber der Feigenbaum sprach zu ihnen: Soll ich meine Süßigkeit und meine gute Frucht lassen und hingehen, um über den Bäumen zu schweben?

Y respondió la higuera: ¿Tengo de dejar mi dulzura y mi buen fruto, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?

But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees?

“But the fig tree said to them, ‘Should I leave my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?’

Da sprachen die Bäume zum Weinstock: Komm du und sei unser König!

Then said the trees unto the vine, Come thou, and reign over us.

Aber der Weinstock sprach zu ihnen: Soll ich meinen Most lassen, der Götter und Menschen erfreut, und hingehen, um über den Bäumen zu schweben?

Y la vid les respondió: ¿Tengo de dejar mi mosto, que alegra á Dios y á los hombres, por ir á ser grande sobre los árboles?

And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?

“The vine said to them, ‘Should I leave my new wine, which cheers God and man, and go to wave back and forth over the trees?’

Da sprachen alle Bäume zum Dornbusch: Komm du und sei König über uns!

Dijeron entonces todos los árboles al escaramujo: Anda tú, reina sobre nosotros.

Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, and reign over us.

“Then all the trees said to the bramble, ‘Come and reign over us.’

Und der Dornbusch sprach zu den Bäumen: Wollt ihr mich wirklich zum König über euch salben, so kommt und nehmt Zuflucht unter meinem Schatten! Wo nicht, so gehe Feuer aus vom Dornbusch und verzehre die Zedern Libanons!

Y el escaramujo respondió á los árboles: Si en verdad me elegís por rey sobre vosotros, venid, y aseguraos debajo de mi sombra: y si no, fuego salga del escaramujo que devore los cedros del Líbano.

And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.

“The bramble said to the trees, ‘If in truth you anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.’

Habt ihr nun treu und redlich gehandelt damit, daß ihr Abimelech zum König gemacht habt, und habt ihr wohl getan an Jerub-Baal und an seinem Hause, und habt ihr ihm getan, wie er es um euch verdient hat

Ahora pues, si con verdad y con integridad habéis procedido en hacer rey á Abimelech, y si lo habéis hecho bien con Jerobaal y con su casa, y si le habéis pagado conforme á la obra de sus manos;

Now therefore, if ye have done truly and sincerely, in that ye have made Abimelech king, and if ye have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done unto him according to the deserving of his hands;

er, mein Vater, der für euch gestritten und seine Seele preisgegeben hat, daß er euch von der Hand der Midianiter errettete;

(Pues que mi padre peleó por vosotros, y echó lejos su vida por libraros de mano de Madián;

(For my father fought for you, and adventured his life far, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian:

während ihr euch heute wider meines Vaters Haus aufgelehnt und seine Kinder erwürgt habt, siebzig Männer auf einem Stein, und den Abimelech, den Sohn seiner Magd, über die Bürger zu Sichem zum König gemacht habt, weil er euer Bruder ist;

Y vosotros os levantasteis hoy contra la casa de mi padre, y matasteis sus hijos, setenta varones, sobre una piedra; y habéis puesto por rey sobre los de Sichêm á Abimelech, hijo de su criada, por cuanto es vuestro hermano:)

And ye are risen up against my father’s house this day, and have slain his sons, threescore and ten persons, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his maidservant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother;)

and you have risen up against my father’s house today and have slain his sons, seventy persons, on one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his female servant, king over the men of Shechem, because he is your brother);

habt ihr also an diesem Tage an Jerub-Baal und an seinem Hause treu und redlich gehandelt, so erlebet Freude an Abimelech, und er erlebe Freude an euch!

Si con verdad y con integridad habéis obrado hoy con Jerobaal y con su casa, que gocéis de Abimelech, y él goce de vosotros.

If ye then have dealt truly and sincerely with Jerubbaal and with his house this day, then rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you:

if you then have dealt truly and righteously with Jerubbaal and with his house today, then rejoice in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you;

Wo aber nicht, so gehe Feuer aus von Abimelech und verzehre die Bürger von Sichem und das Haus Millo; und es gehe auch Feuer aus von den Bürgern von Sichem und vom Hause Millo und verzehre den Abimelech!

Y si no, fuego salga de Abimelech, que consuma á los de Sichêm y á la casa de Millo; y fuego salga de los de Sichêm y de la casa de Millo, que consuma á Abimelech.

But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.

Darnach floh Jotam und entwich und ging nach Beer und wohnte daselbst, aus Furcht vor seinem Bruder Abimelech.

sandte Gott einen bösen Geist zwischen Abimelech und die Bürger von Sichem; und die Männer von Sichem fielen von Abimelech ab,

auf daß der an den siebzig Söhnen Jerub-Baals begangene Frevel und ihr Blut über ihren Bruder Abimelech käme, der sie ermordet hatte, und auf ihn gelegt würde, auch über die Bürger von Sichem, die seine Hände gestärkt hatten, daß er seine Brüder erwürgte.

Para que el agravio de los setenta hijos de Jerobaal, y la sangre de ellos, viniera á ponerse sobre Abimelech su hermano que los mató, y sobre los hombres de Sichêm que corroboraron las manos de él para matar á sus hermanos.

That the cruelty done to the threescore and ten sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, which slew them; and upon the men of Shechem, which aided him in the killing of his brethren.

Und die Bürger von Sichem bestellten Wegelagerer auf den Höhen der Berge, die beraubten alle, welche auf der Straße bei ihnen vorüberwandelten. Und es ward dem Abimelech angesagt.

And the men of Shechem set liers in wait for him in the top of the mountains, and they robbed all that came along that way by them: and it was told Abimelech.

Gaal aber, der Sohn Ebeds, und seine Brüder kamen und siedelten nach Sichem über; und die Bürger von Sichem verließen sich auf ihn

And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him?

Wäre doch dieses Volk unter meiner Hand, so wollte ich den Abimelech wegschaffen! Und es ward dem Abimelech gesagt: Rücke mit zahlreicher Mannschaft aus!

Fuérame dado este pueblo bajo de mi mano, yo echaría luego á Abimelech. Y decía á Abimelech: Aumenta tus escuadrones, y sal.

And would to God this people were under my hand! then would I remove Abimelech. And he said to Abimelech, Increase thine army, and come out.

Als aber Sebul, der Oberste der Stadt, die Worte Gaals, des Sohnes Ebeds, hörte, entbrannte sein Zorn;

und er sandte insgeheim Botschaft zu Abimelech und ließ ihm sagen: Siehe, Gaal, der Sohn Ebeds, und seine Brüder sind nach Sichem gekommen, und siehe, sie wiegeln die Stadt gegen dich auf!

Y envió sagazmente mensajeros á Abimelech, diciendo: He aquí que Gaal hijo de Ebed y sus hermanos han venido á Sichêm, y he aquí, que han cercado la ciudad contra ti.

And he sent messengers unto Abimelech privily, saying, Behold, Gaal the son of Ebed and his brethren be come to Shechem; and, behold, they fortify the city against thee.

So mache dich nun auf bei Nacht, du und das Volk, das bei dir ist, und lege dich auf dem Felde in den Hinterhalt.

Levántate pues ahora de noche, tú y el pueblo que está contigo, y pon emboscada en el campo:

Now therefore up by night, thou and the people that is with thee, and lie in wait in the field:

Und am Morgen, wenn die Sonne aufgeht, mache dich früh auf und überfalle die Stadt; wenn dann er und das Volk, das bei ihm ist, dir entgegenziehen, so tue mit ihm, wie es deine Hand vorfindet.

Y por la mañana al salir del sol te levantarás y acometerás la ciudad: y él y el pueblo que está con él saldrán contra ti, y tu harás con él según que se te ofrecerá.

And it shall be, that in the morning, as soon as the sun is up, thou shalt rise early, and set upon the city: and, behold, when he and the people that is with him come out against thee, then mayest thou do to them as thou shalt find occasion.

Da stand Abimelech bei Nacht auf, und alles Volk, das bei ihm war, und sie stellten einen Hinterhalt gegen Sichem in vier Abteilungen.

Levantándose pues de noche Abimelech y todo el pueblo que con él estaba, pusieron emboscada contra Sichêm con cuatro compañías.

Da zog Gaal, der Sohn Ebeds, heraus, und trat an den Eingang des Stadttors. Aber Abimelech samt dem Volk, das mit ihm war, machte sich auf aus dem Hinterhalt.

Als nun Gaal das Volk sah, sprach er zu Sebul: Siehe, da kommen Leute von der Höhe des Gebirges herab! Sebul aber sprach zu ihm: Du siehst den Schatten der Berge für Leute an!

Y viendo Gaal el pueblo, dijo á Zebul: He allí pueblo que desciende de las cumbres de los montes. Y Zebul le respondió: La sombra de los montes te parece hombres.

And when Gaal saw the people, he said to Zebul, Behold, there come people down from the top of the mountains. And Zebul said unto him, Thou seest the shadow of the mountains as if they were men.

Aber Gaal versicherte nochmals und sprach: Siehe, Leute kommen von der Höhe des Landes herab, und eine Abteilung kommt auf dem Weg von der Zaubereiche her!

Mas Gaal tornó á hablar, y dijo: He allí pueblo que desciende por medio de la tierra, y un escuadrón viene camino de la campiña de Meonenim.

And Gaal spake again and said, See there come people down by the middle of the land, and another company come along by the plain of Meonenim.

Gaal spoke again and said, “Behold, people are coming down by the middle of the land, and one company comes by the way of the oak of Meonenim.”

Da sprach Sebul zu ihm: Wo ist nun dein Maul, damit du sagtest: Wer ist Abimelech, daß wir ihm dienen sollten? Ist nicht dies das Volk, welches du verachtet hast? Zieh nun aus und streite mit ihm!

Y Zebul le respondió: ¿Dónde está ahora aquel tu hablar, diciendo: Quién es Abimelech para que le sirvamos? ¿No es este el pueblo que tenías en poco? Sal pues ahora, y pelea con él.

Then said Zebul unto him, Where is now thy mouth, wherewith thou saidst, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? is not this the people that thou hast despised? go out, I pray now, and fight with them.

Then Zebul said to him, “Now where is your mouth, that you said, ‘Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him?’ Isn’t this the people that you have despised? Please go out now and fight with them.”

And Abimelech dwelt at Arumah: and Zebul thrust out Gaal and his brethren, that they should not dwell in Shechem.

Am andern Morgen aber ging das Volk aufs Feld hinaus, und es ward dem Abimelech angesagt.

Da nahm er das Heer und machte drei Abteilungen und lauerte im Feld. Als er nun sah, daß das Volk aus der Stadt ging, fiel er sie an und schlug sie.
