Novamente me falou o Senhor. “Compre e use um cinto de linho, mas não o lave nem o ponha na água”.
ASÍ me dijo Jehová: Ve, y cómprate un cinto de lino, y cíñelo sobre tus lomos, y no lo meterás en agua.
Thus saith the LORD unto me, Go and get thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water.
The LORD said to me, “Go, and buy yourself a linen belt, and put it on your waist, and don’t put it in water.”
Obedeci ao Senhor, comprei e passei a usar o cinto.
Y compré el cinto conforme á la palabra de Jehová, y púselo sobre mis lomos.
So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.
So I bought a belt according to the LORD’s word, and put it on my waist.
Algum tempo depois, o Senhor tornou a falar comigo e disse:
Y fué á mí segunda vez palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying,

“Leve o cinto que você comprou e está usando, vá até Perate e esconda-o ali num buraco entre as pedras”.
Toma el cinto que compraste, que está sobre tus lomos, y levántate, y ve al Eufrates, y escóndelo allá en la concavidad de una peña.
Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.
“Take the belt that you have bought, which is on your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.”
E assim fiz eu; escondi o cinto num buraco entre as pedras junto ao rio, conforme o Senhor me havia dito.
Fuí pues, y escondílo junto al Eufrates, como Jehová me mandó.
So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.

Depois de muito tempo, o Senhor me disse: “Jeremias, vá novamente a Perate e apanhe o cinto que mandei você esconder”.
Y sucedió que al cabo de muchos días me dijo Jehová: Levántate, y ve al Eufrates, y toma de allí el cinto que te mandé escondieses allá.
And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.
After many days, the LORD said to me, “Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the belt from there, which I commanded you to hide there.”
Fui até Perate, cavei o lugar onde havia escondido o cinto e o tirei dali. Mas o cinto estava podre e não servia para mais nada!
Entonces fuí al Eufrates, y cavé, y tomé el cinto del lugar donde lo había escondido; y he aquí que el cinto se había podrido; para ninguna cosa era bueno.
Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.
Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the belt from the place where I had hidden it; and behold, the belt was ruined. It was profitable for nothing.
Então o Senhor me explicou a razão de tudo aquilo:
Y fué á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

“Assim diz o Senhor: Esse cinto estragado mostra como vou destruir o orgulho exagerado de Judá e de Jerusalém.
Así ha dicho Jehová: Así haré podrir la soberbia de Judá, y la mucha soberbia de Jerusalem,
Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
“The LORD says, ‘In this way I will ruin the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
Esse povo rebelde se recusa a me obedecer, segue com teimosia suas próprias ideias erradas e corre atrás de outros deuses para prestar-lhes culto e adorá-los; por isso, acabarão como esse cinto, completamente estragado e inútil.
A este pueblo malo, que no quieren oir mis palabras, que andan en las imaginaciones de su corazón, y se fueron en pos de dioses ajenos para servirles, y para encorvarse á ellos; y vendrá á ser como este cinto, que para ninguna cosa es bueno.
This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.

Eu trouxe Israel e Judá para bem junto de mim, como o cinto fica preso à cintura de quem o usa, para que fossem o meu povo. Eles mostrariam ao mundo quem eu sou, e através deles os outros povos me dariam louvor e glória. Mas eles não quiseram saber disso e se afastaram de mim”, declara o Senhor.
Porque como el cinto se junta á los lomos del hombre, así hice juntar á mí toda la casa de Israel y toda la casa de Judá, dice Jehová, para que me fuesen por pueblo y por fama, y por alabanza y por honra: empero no escucharon.
For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to me,’ says the LORD; ‘that they may be to me for a people, for a name, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’
“Diga-lhes também o seguinte: Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel: Encham de vinho todas as vasilhas de couro! E se eles disserem: ‘Isso você não precisa dizer; todos sabem que se deve encher de vinho toda vasilha de couro’,
Les dirás pues esta palabra: Así ha dicho Jehová, Dios de Israel: Henchiráse de vino todo odre. Y ellos te dirán: ¿No sabemos que todo odre se henchirá de vino?

então você deve dizer a eles: Assim diz o Senhor: ‘Eu vou deixar todo este povo completamente embriagado, desde o rei, assentado no trono de Davi, até os sacerdotes e profetas, e todos os habitantes de Jerusalém.

Então quebrarei a todos, colocando uns contra os outros. Vou jogar os pais contra os filhos, os filhos contra os pais. Esse povo vai ficar em pedaços’, diz o Senhor. ‘Nem a minha compaixão, nem a minha bondade me impedirão de destruir todos eles’ ”.
Y quebrantarélos el uno con el otro, los padres con los hijos juntamente, dice Jehová: no perdonaré, ni tendré piedad ni misericordia, para no destruirlos.

Não sejam orgulhosos! Escutem e obedeçam, pois foi o Senhor quem falou!

Mas, se vocês teimarem em não obedecer ao Senhor, eu chorarei em segredo por causa desse terrível orgulho de vocês! Meus olhos vão derramar muitas lágrimas, porque o rebanho do Senhor vai ser levado para o exílio.

Diga ao rei e à rainha-mãe: “Desçam de seus tronos e sentem-se no pó! Suas belas e gloriosas coroas serão arrancadas de suas cabeças!”

Até as cidades do Neguebe, ao sul, foram destruídas na invasão. E não há ninguém para reconstruir essas cidades, porque todos os moradores de Judá foram exilados.

Erga os olhos, Jerusalém, olhe para o norte, e veja os exércitos se aproximando! Onde está o rebanho, as ovelhas que Deus havia colocado sob a sua responsabilidade, e das quais você se orgulhava?
Alzad vuestros ojos, y ved los que vienen del aquilón: ¿dónde está el rebaño que te fué dado, la grey de tu gloria?
Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

Sabe o que vai acontecer quando o Senhor colocar seus antigos aliados para dominar você? Você vai gemer de dor, como a mulher que está em trabalho de parto.
¿Qué dirás cuando te visitará? porque tú los enseñaste á ser príncipes y cabeza sobre ti. ¿No te tomarán dolores como á mujer que pare?
What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?
What will you say when he sets over you as head those whom you have yourself taught to be friends to you? Won’t sorrows take hold of you, as of a woman in travail?
E quando você questionar a razão de tanto sofrimento, eu darei a seguinte resposta: “Isso aconteceu por causa dos seus muitos pecados. Por isso as suas vestes foram rasgadas, e você foi violentada”.
Cuando dijeres en tu corazón: ¿Por qué me ha sobrevenido esto? Por la enormidad de tu maldad fueron descubiertas tus faldas, fueron desnudos tus calcañares.
And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.
If you say in your heart, “Why have these things come on me?” Your skirts are uncovered because of the greatness of your iniquity, and your heels suffer violence.
Por acaso o etíope pode mudar a cor da sua pele? Ou o leopardo pode tirar as manchas de seu pelo? É claro que não. Da mesma forma, vocês são incapazes de fazer o que é certo, porque já estão acostumados a fazer o mal!

I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?
