Jeremías 14

Palabras que habló el Señor a Jeremías sobre el suceso de la sequedad.

PALABRA de Jehová que fué á Jeremías, con motivo de la sequía.

The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth.

This is the LORD’s word that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought:

La Judea está cubierta de luto, y sus puertas destruidas y derribadas por el suelo, y Jerusalén alza el grito hasta el cielo.

Enlutóse Judá, y sus puertas se despoblaron: oscureciéronse en tierra, y subió el clamor de Jerusalem.

Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.

“Judah mourns, and its gates languish. They sit in black on the ground. The cry of Jerusalem goes up.

Los amos envían a sus criados por agua; van éstos a sacarla, y no la encuentran, y se vuelven con sus vasijas vacías, confusos y afligidos, y cubiertas sus cabezas en señal de dolor.

Y los principales de ellos enviaron sus criados al agua: vinieron á las lagunas, y no hallaron agua: volviéronse con sus vasos vacíos; se avergonzaron, confundiéronse, y cubrieron sus cabezas.

And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.

Their nobles send their little ones to the waters. They come to the cisterns, and find no water. They return with their vessels empty. They are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.

A causa de la esterilidad de la tierra, por haberle faltado la lluvia, los labradores, abatidos, cubren sus cabezas,

Porque se resquebrajó la tierra á causa de no llover en el país; confusos los labradores, cubrieron sus cabezas.

Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.

Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed. They cover their heads.

pues hasta la cierva, después de haber parido en el campo, abandona la cría por falta de hierba;

Y aun las ciervas en los campos parían, y dejaban la cría, porque no había hierba.

Yea, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook it, because there was no grass.

Yes, the doe in the field also calves and forsakes her young, because there is no grass.

y los asnos bravíos se ponen encima de los riscos, atraen a sí la frescura del aire, como hacen los dragones; y ha desfallecido la luz de sus ojos, por no haber hierba con qué alimentarse.

Y los asnos monteses se ponían en los altos, aspiraban el viento como los chacales; sus ojos se ofuscaron, porque no había hierba.

And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.

The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights. They pant for air like jackals. Their eyes fail, because there is no vegetation.

Aunque nuestras maldades dan testimonio contra nosotros, tú, ¡oh Señor!, míranos con piedad por amor de tu santo Nombre; pues nuestras rebeldías son muchas, y hemos pecado gravísimamente contra ti.

Si nuestras iniquidades testifican contra nosotros, oh Jehová, haz por amor de tu nombre; porque nuestras rebeliones se han multiplicado, contra ti pecamos.

O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name’s sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.

Though our iniquities testify against us, work for your name’s sake, LORD; for our rebellions are many. We have sinned against you.

¡Oh esperanza de Israel y salvador suyo en tiempo de tribulación!, ¿por qué has de estar en esta tierra tuya como un extranjero y como un caminante que sólo se detiene para pasar la noche?

Oh esperanza de Israel, Guardador suyo en el tiempo de la aflicción, ¿por qué has de ser como peregrino en la tierra, y como caminante que se aparta para tener la noche?

O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?

You hope of Israel, its Savior in the time of trouble, why should you be as a foreigner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to stay for a night?

¿Por qué has de ser para tu pueblo como un hombre que va divagando, o como un campeón sin fuerzas para salvar? Ello es, ¡oh Señor!, que tú habitas entre nosotros, y nosotros llevamos el nombre de pueblo tuyo; no nos abandones, pues.

¿Por qué has de ser como hombre atónito, y como valiente que no puede librar? tú empero estás entre nosotros, oh Jehová, y sobre nosotros es invocado tu nombre; no nos desampares.

Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.

Why should you be like a scared man, as a mighty man who can’t save? Yet you, LORD, are in the middle of us, and we are called by your name. Don’t leave us.

Esto dice el Señor a ese pueblo que tanto gusta tener siempre en movimiento los pies, y no sosiega, y ha desagradado a Dios: Ahora se acordará el Señor de sus maldades y tomará cuentas de sus pecados.

Así ha dicho Jehová á este pueblo: Así amaron moverse, ni detuvieron sus pies: por tanto, Jehová no los tiene en voluntad; acordaráse ahora de la maldad de ellos, y visitará sus pecados.

Thus saith the LORD unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the LORD doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.

The LORD says to this people: “Even so they have loved to wander. They have not restrained their feet. Therefore the LORD does not accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish them for their sins.”

Y me dijo el Señor: No tienes que rogar que haga bien a ese pueblo.

Y díjome Jehová: No ruegues por este pueblo para bien.

Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good.

The LORD said to me, “Don’t pray for this people for their good.

Cuando ayunaren, no atenderé a sus oraciones, y si ofrecieron holocaustos y víctimas, no los aceptaré; sino que los he de consumir con la espada, con el hambre y con la peste.

Cuando ayunaren, yo no oiré su clamor, y cuando ofrecieren holocausto y ofrenda, no lo aceptaré; antes los consumiré con cuchillo, y con hambre, y con pestilencia.

When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.

When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.”

Entonces dije yo: ¡Ah!, ¡ah! ¡Señor Dios mío! ¡Ah!, que los profetas les dicen: No temáis; no veréis vosotros la espada enemiga; ni habrá hambre entre vosotros; antes bien os concederá el Señor una paz verdadera en este lugar.

Y yo dije: ¡Ah! ah! Señor Jehová! he aquí que los profetas les dicen: No veréis cuchillo, ni habrá hambre en vosotros, sino que en este lugar os daré paz verdadera.

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.

Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, the prophets tell them, ‘You will not see the sword, neither will you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.’”

Y me dijo el Señor: Falsamente vaticinan en mi nombre esos profetas: yo no los he enviado, ni dado orden alguna, ni les he hablado; os venden por profecías, visiones falsas, y adivinaciones, e imposturas, y las ilusiones de su corazón.

Díjome entonces Jehová: Falso profetizan los profetas en mi nombre: no los envié, ni les mandé, ni les hablé: visión mentirosa, y adivinación, y vanidad, y engaño de su corazón os profetizan.

Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.

Then the LORD said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I didn’t send them. I didn’t command them. I didn’t speak to them. They prophesy to you a lying vision, divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.

Por tanto, esto dice el Señor: En orden a los profetas que profetizan en mi Nombre, sin ser enviados por mí diciendo: No vendrá espada ni hambre sobre esta tierra; al filo de la espada y por hambre perecerán los tales profetas.

Por tanto así ha dicho Jehová sobre los profetas que profetizan en mi nombre, los cuales yo no envié, y que dicen, Cuchillo ni hambre no habrá en esta tierra: Con cuchillo y con hambre serán consumidos esos profetas.

Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.

Therefore the LORD says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, but I didn’t send them, yet they say, ‘Sword and famine will not be in this land.’ Those prophets will be consumed by sword and famine.

Y los moradores de los pueblos, a los cuales éstos profetizaban, serán arrojados por las calles de Jerusalén , muertos de hambre, y al filo de la espada ellos y sus mujeres, y sus hijos e hijas, sin que haya nadie que les dé sepultura; y sobre ellos derramaré el castigo de su maldad.

Y el pueblo á quien profetizan, echado será en las calles de Jerusalem por hambre y por espada; y no habrá quien los entierre, ellos, y sus mujeres, y sus hijos, y sus hijas; y sobre ellos derramaré su maldad.

And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.

The people to whom they prophesy will be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. They will have no one to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters, for I will pour their wickedness on them.

Y tú les dirás entretanto estas palabras: Derramen mis ojos sin cesar lágrimas noche y día, porque Jerusalén , la virgen hija del pueblo mío, se halla quebrantada de una extrema aflicción, con una llaga sumamente maligna.

Decirles has, pues, esta palabra: Córranse mis ojos en lágrimas noche y día, y no cesen; porque de gran quebrantamiento es quebrantada la virgen hija de mi pueblo, de plaga muy recia.

Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.

“You shall say this word to them: “‘Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.

Si salgo al campo, yo no veo sino cadáveres de gente pasada a cuchillo; si entro en la ciudad, he aquí la población transida de hambre. Hasta los profetas y los sacerdotes son conducidos cautivos a un país desconocido.

Si salgo al campo, he aquí muertos á cuchillo; y si me entro en la ciudad, he aquí enfermos de hambre: porque también el profeta como el sacerdote anduvieron rodeando en la tierra, y no conocieron.

If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.

If I go out into the field, then behold, the slain with the sword! If I enter into the city, then behold, those who are sick with famine! For both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.’”

¿Por ventura, Señor, has desechado del todo a Judá? ¿O es Sión abominada de tu alma? ¿Por qué, pues, nos has azotado con tanto rigor, que no nos queda parte sana? Esperamos la paz o felicidad, y no tenemos ningún bien; y el tiempo de restablecernos, y he aquí que estamos todos llenos de confusión.

¿Has desechado enteramente á Judá? ¿ha aborrecido tu alma á Sión? ¿Por qué nos hiciste herir sin que nos quede cura? Esperamos paz, y no hubo bien; tiempo de cura, y he aquí turbación.

Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul lothed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble!

Have you utterly rejected Judah? Has your soul loathed Zion? Why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay!

¡Oh Señor!, reconocemos nuestras impiedades y las maldades de nuestros padres: Pecado hemos contra ti.

Reconocemos, oh Jehová, nuestra impiedad, la iniquidad de nuestros padres: porque contra ti hemos pecado.

We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee.

We acknowledge, LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against you.

No nos dejes caer en el oprobio, ¡oh Señor!, por amor de tu Nombre: Ni nos castigues con ver ultrajado el templo, solio de tu gloria; acuérdate de mantener tu antigua alianza con nosotros.

Por amor de tu nombre no nos deseches, ni trastornes el trono de tu gloria: acuérdate, no invalides tu pacto con nosotros.

Do not abhor us, for thy name’s sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.

Pues qué, ¿hay por ventura entre los simulacros o ídolos de las gentes quién dé la lluvia? ¿O pueden ellos desde los cielos enviarnos agua? ¿No eres tú el que la envías, Señor Dios nuestro, en quien nosotros esperamos? Sí: porque tú eres el que ha hecho todas estas cosas.

¿Hay entre las vanidades de las gentes quien haga llover? ¿y darán los cielos lluvias? ¿No eres tú, Jehová, nuestro Dios? en ti pues esperamos; pues tú hiciste todas estas cosas.

Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.

Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the sky give showers? Aren’t you he, the LORD our God? Therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.
