Jeremías 18

Parole adressée à Jérémie de la part de l'Eternel et conçue en ces termes:

LA palabra que fué á Jeremías de Jehová, diciendo:

The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

"Lève-toi et descends dans la maison du potier, c'est là que je te ferai entendre mes paroles."

Levántate, y vete á casa del alfarero, y allí te haré oir mis palabras.

Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

“Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear my words.”

Je descendis dans la maison du potier, et voici, il était occupé à façonner l'ouvrage au tour.

Y descendí á casa del alfarero, y he aquí que él hacía obra sobre la rueda.

Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.

Or, quand le vase qu'il façonnait se trouvait manqué, ainsi qu'il arrive à l'argile sous la main du potier, il se mettait à en faire un nouveau vase, comme c'était le bon plaisir du potier d'agir.

Y el vaso que él hacía de barro se quebró en la mano del alfarero; y tornó é hízolo otro vaso, según que al alfarero pareció mejor hacerlo.

And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

Alors la parole de l'Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:

Entonces fué á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

"Est-ce que je ne pourrai pas agir à votre égard, ô maison d'Israëldit l'Eternelà la façon de ce potier? Certes, vous êtes sous ma main comme l'argile sous la main du potier, ô maison d'Israël!

¿No podré yo hacer de vosotros como este alfarero, oh casa de Israel, dice Jehová? He aquí que como el barro en la mano del alfarero, así sois vosotros en mi mano, oh casa de Israel.

O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

“House of Israel, can’t I do with you as this potter?” says the LORD. “Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, house of Israel.

Tantôt j'exprime contre un peuple et un royaume la menace d'extirper, de renverser et de détruire.

En un instante hablaré contra gentes y contra reinos, para arrancar, y disipar, y destruir.

At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

Mais que ce peuple, ainsi menacé par moi, se repente de ses fautes, je change d'avis quant aux calamités que j'avais l'intention de lui infliger.

Empero si esas gentes se convirtieren de su maldad, de que habré hablado, yo me arrepentiré del mal que había pensado hacerles.

If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

Tantôt j'énonce au sujet d'un peuple et d'un royaume la promesse de bâtir et de planter.

Y en un instante hablaré de la gente y del reino, para edificar y para plantar;

And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;

Mais qu'il fasse ce qui déplaît à mes yeux en refusant d'écouter ma voix, je rétracte le bien que j'avais promis de lui faire.

Pero si hiciere lo malo delante de mis ojos, no oyendo mi voz, arrepentiréme del bien que había determinado hacerle.

If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

if they do that which is evil in my sight, that they don’t obey my voice, then I will repent of the good with which I said I would benefit them.

Et maintenant parle donc aux gens de Juda et aux habitants de Jérusalem en ces termes: "Voici, je prépare contre vous des malheurs et nourris contre vous des projets! Abandonnez donc tous votre mauvaise conduite et amendez vos voies et vos oeuvres!"

Ahora pues habla luego á todo hombre de Judá, y á los moradores de Jerusalem, diciendo: Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que yo dispongo mal contra vosotros, y trazo contra vosotros designios: conviértase ahora cada uno de su mal camino, y mejorad vuestros caminos y vuestras obras.

Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.

“Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘The LORD says: “Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a plan against you. Everyone return from his evil way now, and amend your ways and your doings.”’

Mais ils riposteront! "Peine perdue! Car nous voulons suivre nos idées, agir chacun au gré des penchants de notre coeur qui est mauvais."

Y dijeron: Es por demás: porque en pos de nuestras imaginaciones hemos de ir, y hemos de hacer cada uno el pensamiento de su malvado corazón.

And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.

But they say, ‘It is in vain; for we will walk after our own plans, and we will each follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.’”

C'est pourquoi ainsi parle l'Eternel: Interrogez donc les nations: qui a ouï pareille chose? La vierge d'Israël a commis d'horribles excès!

Por tanto, así dijo Jehová: Preguntad ahora á las gentes, quién tal haya oído. Gran fealdad ha hecho la virgen de Israel.

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.

Therefore the LORD says: “Ask now among the nations, ‘Who has heard such things?’ The virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.

Est-ce que la neige du Liban disparaît des roches en plein champ? Est-ce qu'elles tarissent, les eaux venant de loin fraîches et rapides?

¿Faltará la nieve del Líbano de la piedra del campo? ¿faltarán las aguas frías que corren de lejanas tierras?

Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?

Will the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? Will the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up?

Pourtant mon peuple m'a oublié pour encenser de vaines idoles; on les a fait trébucher dans leurs †vraies voies, ces routes des temps antiques, pour les amener sur d'autres routes, sur des chemins non frayés.

Porque mi pueblo me ha olvidado, incensando á la vanidad, y hácenles tropezar en sus caminos, en las sendas antiguas, para que caminen por sendas, por camino no hollado;

Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up;

For my people have forgotten me. They have burned incense to false gods. They have been made to stumble in their ways in the ancient paths, to walk in byways, in a way not built up,

Et ainsi ils font de leur pays une désolation, un objet d'éternelles railleries: quiconque passe dans le voisinage est stupéfait et hoche la tête.

Para poner su tierra en desolación, y en silbos perpetuos; todo aquel que pasare por ella se maravillará, y meneará su cabeza.

To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.

to make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, and shake his head.

Tel que le vent d'est, je les disperserai devant l'ennemi; c'est de dos et non de face que je les verrai au jour de leur désastre.

Como viento solano los esparciré delante del enemigo; mostraréles las espaldas, y no el rostro, en el día de su perdición.

I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.

Alors ils dirent : "Allons, montons une cabale contre Jérémie; car la loi ne sera pas perdue faute de prêtre, ni l'expérience faute de sage, ni l'éloquence faute de prophète. Allons, frappons-le avec notre langue, et ne prêtons l'oreille à aucune de ses paroles."

Y dijeron: Venid, y tracemos maquinaciones contra Jeremías; porque la ley no faltará del sacerdote, ni consejo del sabio, ni palabra del profeta. Venid é hirámoslo de lengua, y no miremos á todas sus palabras.

Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.

Then they said, “Come! Let’s devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law won’t perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let’s strike him with the tongue, and let’s not give heed to any of his words.”

Prête-moi ton oreille, ô Eternel, et entends les discours de mes adversaires.

Oh Jehová, mira por mí, y oye la voz de los que contienden conmigo.

Give heed to me, O LORD, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.

Give heed to me, LORD, and listen to the voice of those who contend with me.

Le bien se paie-t-il par le mal, qu'ils aient creusé une fosse à mon intention? Rappelle-toi comme je me tenais devant toi pour plaider leur cause, en vue de détourner d'eux ta colère.

¿Dase mal por bien, para que hayan cavado hoyo á mi alma? Acuérdate que me puse delante de ti para hablar bien por ellos, para apartar de ellos tu ira.

Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.

Aussi, livre leurs enfants en proie à la famine, précipite-les sous le tranchant de l'épée. Que leurs femmes soient privées de leurs enfants et réduites au veuvage, les époux étant enlevés par la mort et les jeunes gens tués par le glaive dans le combat!

Por tanto, entrega sus hijos á hambre, y hazlos derramar por medio de la espada; y queden sus mujeres sin hijos, y viudas; y sus maridos sean puestos á muerte, y sus jóvenes heridos á cuchillo en la guerra.

Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.

Qu'on entende des cris d'effroi sortir de leurs maisons, quand soudain tu feras fondre sur eux des troupes armées, puisqu'ils ont creusé une fosse pour s'emparer de moi et dissimulé des pièges sous mes pas!

Oigase clamor de sus casas, cuando trajeres sobre ellos ejército de repente: porque cavaron hoyo para prenderme, y á mis pies han escondido lazos.

Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.

Mais toi, ô Seigneur, tu connais toutes leurs machinations meurtrières contre moi; ne pardonne point leur crime et ne laisse pas s'effacer devant toi leur iniquité. Puissent-ils s'effondrer sous tes yeux! Sévis contre eux à l'heure de ta colère.

Mas tú, oh Jehová, conoces todo su consejo contra mí para muerte; no perdones su maldad, ni borres su pecado de delante de tu rostro: y tropiecen delante de ti; haz así con ellos en el tiempo de tu furor.

Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.

Yet, LORD, you know all their counsel against me to kill me. Don’t forgive their iniquity. Don’t blot out their sin from your sight, Let them be overthrown before you. Deal with them in the time of your anger.
