1Le parole di Geremia, figliuolo di Hilchia, d'infra i sacerdoti che dimoravano in Anatot, nella contrada di Beniamino;
2al quale fu indirizzata la parola del Signore, a' dì di Giosia, figliuolo di Amon, re di Giuda, nell'anno tredicesimo del suo regno.
3E fu ancora appresso a' dì di Gioiachim, figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda: infino al fine dell'anno undecimo di Sedechia, figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda; finchè Gerusalemme fu menata in cattività, che fu nel quinto mese.
4LA parola del Signore adunque mi fu indirizzata, dicendo:
5Io ti ho conosciuto, avanti che ti formassi nel ventre; e avanti che tu uscissi della matrice, io ti ho consecrato, io ti ho costituito profeta alle genti.
6Ed io risposi: Ahi! Signore Iddio! ecco, io non so parlare; perciocchè io son fanciullo.
7E il Signore mi disse: Non dire: Io son fanciullo; perciocchè tu andrai dovunque io ti manderò, e dirai tutte le cose che io ti comanderò.
8Non temer di loro; conciossiachè io sia teco per liberati, dice il Signore.
9E il Signore distese la sua mano, e mi toccò la bocca. Poi il Signore mi disse: Ecco, io ho messe le mie parole nella tua bocca.
10Vedi, io ti ho oggi costituito sopra le genti, e sopra i regni; per divellere, per diroccare, per disperdere, e per distruggere; ed altresì per edificare, e per piantare.
11Poi la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata, dicendo: Che vedi, Geremia? Ed io dissi: Io veggo una verga di mandorlo.
12Ed il Signore mi disse: Bene hai veduto; conciossiachè io sia vigilante, ed intento a mandare ad esecuzione la mia parola.
13Poi la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata la seconda volta, dicendo: Che vedi? Ed io dissi: Io veggo una pignatta che bolle, la cui bocca è volta verso il Settentrione.
14E il Signore mi disse: Dal Settentrione traboccherà il male sopra tutti gli abitanti del paese.
15Perciocchè, ecco, io chiamo tutte le nazioni de' regni del Settentrione, dice il Signore; e verranno, e porranno ciascuna il suo seggio reale all'entrata delle porte di Gerusalemme, ed appresso tutte le sue mura d'ogni intorno, ed appresso tutte le città di Giuda.
16Ed io pronunzierò i miei giudicii contro a loro, per tutta la lor malvagità per la quale mi hanno abbandonato, ed han fatti profumi ad altri dii, ed hanno adorate le opere delle lor mani.
17Tu adunque, cingiti i lombi, e levati, e di' loro tutto ciò che io ti comanderò; non aver spavento di loro, che talora io non ti fiacchi nel lor cospetto.
18E quant'è a me, ecco, io ti ho oggi posto come una città di fortezza, e come una colonna di ferro, e come mura di rame, contro a tutto il paese; contro ai re di Giuda, a' suoi principi, a' suoi sacerdoti, ed al popolo del paese.
19Ed essi combatteranno contro a te, ma non vi vinceranno; perciocchè io son teco, per liberarti, dice il Signore.

1LAS palabras de Jeremías hijo de Hilcías, de los sacerdotes que estuvieron en Anathoth, en tierra de Benjamín.
2La palabra de Jehová que fué á él en los días de Josías hijo de Amón, rey de Judá, en el año décimotercio de su reinado.
3Fué asimismo en días de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, hasta el fin del año undécimo de Sedechîas hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, hasta la cautividad de Jerusalem en el mes quinto.
4Fué pues palabra de Jehová á mí, diciendo:
5Antes que te formase en el vientre te conocí, y antes que salieses de la matriz te santifiqué, te dí por profeta á las gentes.
6Y yo dije: ¡Ah! ¡ah! ¡Señor Jehová! He aquí, no sé hablar, porque soy niño.
7Y díjome Jehová: No digas, soy niño; porque á todo lo que te enviaré irás tú, y dirás todo lo que te mandaré.
8No temas delante de ellos, porque contigo soy para librarte, dice Jehová.
9Y extendió Jehová su mano, y tocó sobre mi boca; y díjome Jehová: He aquí he puesto mis palabras en tu boca.
10Mira que te he puesto en este día sobre gentes y sobre reinos, para arrancar y para destruir, y para arruinar y para derribar, y para edificar y para plantar.
11Y la palabra de Jehová fué á mí, diciendo: ¿Qué ves tú, Jeremías? Y dije: Yo veo una vara de almendro.
12Y díjome Jehová: Bien has visto; porque yo apresuro mi palabra para ponerla por obra.
13Y fué á mí palabra de Jehová segunda vez, diciendo: ¿Qué ves tú? Y dije: Yo veo una olla que hierve; y su haz está de la parte del aquilón.
14Y díjome Jehová: Del aquilón se soltará el mal sobre todos los moradores de la tierra.
15Porque he aquí que yo convoco todas las familias de los reinos del aquilón, dice Jehová; y vendrán, y pondrá cada uno su asiento á la entrada de las puertas de Jerusalem, y junto á todos sus muros en derredor, y en todas las ciudades de Judá.
16Y á causa de toda su malicia, proferiré mis juicios contra los que me dejaron, é incensaron á dioses extraños, y á hechuras de sus manos se encorvaron.
17Tú pues, ciñe tus lomos, y te levantarás, y les hablarás todo lo que te mandaré: no temas delante de ellos, porque no te haga yo quebrantar delante de ellos.
18Porque he aquí que yo te he puesto en este día como ciudad fortalecida, y como columna de hierro, y como muro de bronce sobre toda la tierra, á los reyes de Judá, á sus príncipes, á sus sacerdotes, y al pueblo de la tierra.
19Y pelearán contra ti, mas no te vencerán; porque yo soy contigo, dice Jehová, para librarte.

1The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
2To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
3It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
4Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
5Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
6Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
8Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
9Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
11Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
12Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
13And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.
14Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
15For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.
16And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.
17Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.
18For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
19And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.

1The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, one of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin.
2The LORD’s word came to him in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
3It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
4Now the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
5“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
6Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I don’t know how to speak; for I am a child.”
7But the LORD said to me, “Don’t say, ‘I am a child;’ for you must go to whomever I send you, and you must say whatever I command you.
8Don’t be afraid because of them, for I am with you to rescue you,” says the LORD.
9Then the LORD stretched out his hand and touched my mouth. Then the LORD said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
10Behold, I have today set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to uproot and to tear down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”
11Moreover the LORD’s word came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.”
12Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well; for I watch over my word to perform it.”
13The LORD’s word came to me the second time, saying, “What do you see?” I said, “I see a boiling cauldron; and it is tipping away from the north.”
14Then the LORD said to me, “Out of the north, evil will break out on all the inhabitants of the land.
15For behold, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north,” says the LORD. “They will come, and they will each set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all its walls all around, and against all the cities of Judah.
16I will utter my judgments against them concerning all their wickedness, in that they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, and worshiped the works of their own hands.
17“You therefore put your belt on your waist, arise, and say to them all that I command you. Don’t be dismayed at them, lest I dismay you before them.
18For behold, I have made you today a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land.
19They will fight against you, but they will not prevail against you; for I am with you”, says the LORD, “to rescue you.”
