Jeremías 1

Este es el mensaje que el Señor le comunicó al sacerdote Jeremías, hijo de Jilquías, quien vivió en el pueblo de Anatot en la provincia de Benjamín.

LAS palabras de Jeremías hijo de Hilcías, de los sacerdotes que estuvieron en Anathoth, en tierra de Benjamín.

The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:

The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, one of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin.

Recibió el primero de los mensajes de parte de Dios en el año trece del reinado de Josías, hijo de Amón, rey de Judá.

La palabra de Jehová que fué á él en los días de Josías hijo de Amón, rey de Judá, en el año décimotercio de su reinado.

To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

The LORD’s word came to him in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

Recibió otros durante el reinado de Joacim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, y posteriormente en diversas ocasiones hasta el mes de julio en el año once del reinado de Sedequías, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, cuando la población de Jerusalén fue llevada cautiva a Babilonia.

Fué asimismo en días de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, hasta el fin del año undécimo de Sedechîas hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, hasta la cautividad de Jerusalem en el mes quinto.

It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

El Señor me dijo:

Fué pues palabra de Jehová á mí, diciendo:

Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Now the LORD’s word came to me, saying,

Yo había determinado tu futuro desde que te estabas formando en el vientre de tu madre; antes que nacieras te escogí y te consagré como vocero mío ante el mundo.

Antes que te formase en el vientre te conocí, y antes que salieses de la matriz te santifiqué, te dí por profeta á las gentes.

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

«¡Oh Señor Dios», dije yo, «no puedo hacer eso! ¡No soy más que un muchacho! ¡Ni siquiera puedo hablar con soltura!».

Y yo dije: ¡Ah! ¡ah! ¡Señor Jehová! He aquí, no sé hablar, porque soy niño.

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I don’t know how to speak; for I am a child.”

No digas eso, respondió el Señor, pues tú irás a dondequiera que yo te envíe y anunciarás lo que yo te diga.

Y díjome Jehová: No digas, soy niño; porque á todo lo que te enviaré irás tú, y dirás todo lo que te mandaré.

But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

But the LORD said to me, “Don’t say, ‘I am a child;’ for you must go to whomever I send you, and you must say whatever I command you.

Y no le tengas miedo al pueblo, porque yo, el Señor, estaré contigo y te libraré en caso de peligro.

No temas delante de ellos, porque contigo soy para librarte, dice Jehová.

Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

Don’t be afraid because of them, for I am with you to rescue you,” says the LORD.

Luego el Señor me tocó la boca y dijo: Mira, te he dado la capacidad de comunicar mis mensajes.

Y extendió Jehová su mano, y tocó sobre mi boca; y díjome Jehová: He aquí he puesto mis palabras en tu boca.

Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

Then the LORD stretched out his hand and touched my mouth. Then the LORD said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.

Hoy comienza tu trabajo: prevenir a las naciones y a los pueblos del mundo. De acuerdo con mis palabras, expresadas por tu boca, yo derribaré a unos y los destruiré, y plantaré y cuidaré a otros, los fortaleceré y los engrandeceré.

Mira que te he puesto en este día sobre gentes y sobre reinos, para arrancar y para destruir, y para arruinar y para derribar, y para edificar y para plantar.

See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

Behold, I have today set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to uproot and to tear down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”

Luego el Señor me dijo: Mira, Jeremías, ¿qué ves? Y yo respondí: Veo una rama de almendro.

Y la palabra de Jehová fué á mí, diciendo: ¿Qué ves tú, Jeremías? Y dije: Yo veo una vara de almendro.

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.

Moreover the LORD’s word came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.”

Y el Señor respondió: Eso es, y significa que sin duda alguna ejecutaré mis amenazas de castigo.

Y díjome Jehová: Bien has visto; porque yo apresuro mi palabra para ponerla por obra.

Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well; for I watch over my word to perform it.”

Luego me preguntó: ¿Qué ves ahora? Y yo respondí: Veo una vasija de agua hirviendo que se ladea hacia el sur.

Y fué á mí palabra de Jehová segunda vez, diciendo: ¿Qué ves tú? Y dije: Yo veo una olla que hierve; y su haz está de la parte del aquilón.

And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.

The LORD’s word came to me the second time, saying, “What do you see?” I said, “I see a boiling cauldron; and it is tipping away from the north.”

Sí, dijo, porque del norte caerá un terror hirviendo sobre todos los pueblos de esta tierra.

Y díjome Jehová: Del aquilón se soltará el mal sobre todos los moradores de la tierra.

Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.

Then the LORD said to me, “Out of the north, evil will break out on all the inhabitants of the land.

Yo llamo a los ejércitos de los países del norte para que se lancen sobre Jerusalén y la rodeen con sus ejércitos, y que hagan lo mismo con todas las demás ciudades de Judá.

Porque he aquí que yo convoco todas las familias de los reinos del aquilón, dice Jehová; y vendrán, y pondrá cada uno su asiento á la entrada de las puertas de Jerusalem, y junto á todos sus muros en derredor, y en todas las ciudades de Judá.

For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.

For behold, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north,” says the LORD. “They will come, and they will each set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all its walls all around, and against all the cities of Judah.

Así castigaré a mi pueblo por haberme abandonado y por rendirles homenaje a otros dioses, que son sólo ídolos hechos por sus propias manos.

Y á causa de toda su malicia, proferiré mis juicios contra los que me dejaron, é incensaron á dioses extraños, y á hechuras de sus manos se encorvaron.

And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.

Así que levántate, vístete y ve a decirles cuanto yo te mande. No les tengas miedo, mantén una postura firme ante ellos.

Tú pues, ciñe tus lomos, y te levantarás, y les hablarás todo lo que te mandaré: no temas delante de ellos, porque no te haga yo quebrantar delante de ellos.

Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.

“You therefore put your belt on your waist, arise, and say to them all that I command you. Don’t be dismayed at them, lest I dismay you before them.

Mira, hoy te vuelvo inexpugnable a todos sus ataques, no pueden dañarte. Yo te doy una gran fuerza como si fueras ciudad llena de torres defensivas que no puede ser conquistada, como si fueras una columna de hierro o fuerte puerta de bronce. Todos los reyes de Judá, sus funcionarios, sacerdotes y habitantes no podrán nada contra ti.

Porque he aquí que yo te he puesto en este día como ciudad fortalecida, y como columna de hierro, y como muro de bronce sobre toda la tierra, á los reyes de Judá, á sus príncipes, á sus sacerdotes, y al pueblo de la tierra.

For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.

For behold, I have made you today a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land.

Van a intentar acabar contigo, pero fracasarán porque yo estoy contigo, dice el Señor. Yo te libraré.

Y pelearán contra ti, mas no te vencerán; porque yo soy contigo, dice Jehová, para librarte.

And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.

They will fight against you, but they will not prevail against you; for I am with you”, says the LORD, “to rescue you.”
