Jeremías 32

El Señor dio a Jeremías el siguiente mensaje el décimo año del reinado de Sedequías, rey de Judá (decimoctavo año del reinado de Nabucodonosor),

PALABRA que fué á Jeremías, de Jehová el año décimo de Sedechîas rey de Judá, que fué el año décimo octavo de Nabucodonosor.

The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.

cuando estaba Jeremías preso en el calabozo subterráneo del palacio, mientras el ejército de Babilonia sitiaba a Jerusalén. El rey Sedequías lo había puesto allí porque seguía profetizando que la ciudad sería conquistada por el rey de Babilonia,

Y entonces el ejército del rey de Babilonia tenía cercada á Jerusalem; y el profeta Jeremías estaba preso en el patio de la cárcel que estaba en la casa del rey de Judá.

For then the king of Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah’s house.

Now at that time the king of Babylon’s army was besieging Jerusalem. Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard, which was in the king of Judah’s house.

Pues Sedechîas rey de Judá lo había preso, diciendo: ¿Por qué profetizas tú diciendo: Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí yo entrego esta ciudad en mano del rey de Babilonia, y tomarála;

For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;

For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, “Why do you prophesy, and say, ‘The LORD says, “Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will take it;

y que el rey Sedequías sería capturado y llevado prisionero ante el rey de Babilonia para ser enjuiciado y sentenciado.

Y Sedechîas rey de Judá no escapará de la mano de los Caldeos, sino que de cierto será entregado en mano del rey de Babilonia, y hablará con él boca á boca, y sus ojos verán sus ojos;

And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;

and Zedekiah king of Judah won’t escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but will surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and will speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes will see his eyes;

«Te llevará a Babilonia y te encarcelará por muchos años hasta que mueras. ¿Para qué ir contra los hechos? ¡No podrás triunfar! ¡Ríndete ahora!», le había dicho Jeremías una y otra vez.

Y hará llevar á Sedechîas á Babilonia, y allá estará hasta que yo le visite, dice Jehová: si peleareis con los Caldeos, no os sucederá bien?

And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper.

and he will bring Zedekiah to Babylon, and he will be there until I visit him,” says the LORD, “though you fight with the Chaldeans, you will not prosper”’?”

Luego vino a Jeremías este mensaje del Señor: Tu primo Janamel, hijo de Salún, llegará pronto a pedirte que le compres la finca que tiene en Anatot, pues por ley te corresponde la oportunidad de comprarla antes de ofrecérsela a cualquier otro.

Y dijo Jeremías: Palabra de Jehová fué á mí, diciendo:

And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Jeremiah said, “The LORD’s word came to me, saying,

—

He aquí que Hanameel, hijo de Sallum tu tío, viene á ti, diciendo: Cómprame mi heredad que está en Anathoth; porque tú tienes derecho á ella para comprarla.

Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.

‘Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you, saying, “Buy my field that is in Anathoth; for the right of redemption is yours to buy it.”’”

Llegó pues Janamel como lo había predicho el Señor y lo visitó en la cárcel. ―Cómprame el campo que tengo en Ananot, en la región de Benjamín, dijo, pues la ley te da prioridad para comprarla. Así tuve la certeza de que el mensaje que había oído era realmente del Señor.

Y vino á mí Hanameel, hijo de mi tío, conforme á la palabra de Jehová, al patio de la cárcel, y díjome: Compra ahora mi heredad que está en Anathoth, en tierra de Benjamín, porque tuyo es el derecho de la herencia, y á ti compete la redención: cómprala para ti. Entonces conocí que era palabra de Jehová.

So Hanameel mine uncle’s son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.

“So Hanamel my uncle’s son came to me in the court of the guard according to the LORD’s word, and said to me, ‘Please buy my field that is in Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is yours, and the redemption is yours. Buy it for yourself.’ “Then I knew that this was the LORD’s word.

Compré entonces el campo, pagándole a Janamel doscientos cuatro gramos de plata.

Y compré la heredad de Hanameel, hijo de mi tío, la cual estaba en Anathoth, y peséle el dinero: diecisiete siclos de plata.

And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle’s son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.

Firmé y sellé el documento de la compra ante testigos, pesé la plata y le pagué.

Y escribí la carta, y selléla, é hice atestiguar á testigos, y pesé el dinero con balanza.

And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.

I signed the deed, sealed it, called witnesses, and weighed the money in the balances to him.

Luego tomé el documento sellado que contenía términos y condiciones, y tomé también la copia sin sellar,

Tomé luego la carta de venta, sellada según el derecho y costumbre, y el traslado abierto.

So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open:

So I took the deed of the purchase, both that which was sealed, containing the terms and conditions, and that which was open;

y públicamente, en presencia de mi primo Janamel y de los testigos que habían firmado el documento, mientras los guardas de la cárcel observaban, entregué los documentos a Baruc, hijo de Nerías, quien era hijo de Maseías.

Y dí la carta de venta á Baruch hijo de Nerías, hijo de Maasías, delante de Hanameel el hijo de mi tío, y delante de los testigos que habían suscrito en la carta de venta, delante de todos los Judíos que estaban en el patio de la cárcel.

And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle’s son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.

and I delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my uncle’s son, and in the presence of the witnesses who signed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews who sat in the court of the guard.

Y le dije mientras todos escuchaban:

Y dí orden á Baruch delante de ellos, diciendo:

And I charged Baruch before them, saying,

“I commanded Baruch before them, saying,

El Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, dice: Toma el documento sellado y la copia y mételos en una tinaja para que se conserven por mucho tiempo,

Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Toma estas cartas, esta carta de venta, la sellada, y ésta la carta abierta, y ponlas en un vaso de barro, para que se guarden muchos días.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.

the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Take these deeds, this deed of the purchase which is sealed, and this deed which is open, and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may last many days.’

porque el Señor de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, dice: En el futuro, esos documentos serán valiosos; algún día la gente volverá a ser dueña de tierras en este país, y comprará y venderá casas, viñedos y campos.

Porque así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Aun se comprarán casas, y heredades, y viñas en esta tierra.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.

For the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel says: ‘Houses and fields and vineyards will yet again be bought in this land.’

Y después de entregarle los documentos a Baruc, oré así:

Y después que dí la carta de venta á Baruch hijo de Nerías, oré á Jehová, diciendo:

Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,

Now after I had delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed to the LORD, saying,

«¡Oh Señor Dios! Tú hiciste los cielos y la tierra con tu gran poder; no hay para ti nada demasiado difícil.

¡Oh Señor Jehová! he aquí que tú hiciste el cielo y la tierra con tu gran poder, y con tu brazo extendido, ni hay nada que sea difícil para ti:

Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

“Ah Lord GOD! Behold, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for you.

Eres amoroso y bondadoso para con millares de personas y sin embargo, los hijos y las hijas sufren las consecuencias de las faltas cometidas por sus padres. Tú eres el grande y poderoso Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos.

Que haces misericordia en millares, y vuelves la maldad de los padres en el seno de sus hijos después de ellos: Dios grande, poderoso, Jehová de los ejércitos es su nombre:

Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,

You show loving kindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them. The great, the mighty God, the LORD of Armies is your name:

Tienes gran sabiduría y realizas poderosos milagros, porque tu atención está puesta en todo lo que hace la gente y recompensas a cada cual según su vida y sus hechos.

Grande en consejo, y magnífico en hechos: porque tus ojos están abiertos sobre todos los caminos de los hijos de los hombres, para dar á cada uno según sus caminos, y según el fruto de sus obras:

Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

great in counsel, and mighty in work; whose eyes are open to all the ways of the children of men, to give everyone according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings;

Has hecho cosas increíbles en el país de Egipto, hechos que se recuerdan hasta el presente. Y has continuado realizando grandes milagros en Israel y en todo el mundo. Le has dado gran fama a tu nombre, tal como la tiene hoy.

Que pusiste señales y portentos en tierra de Egipto hasta este día, y en Israel, y entre los hombres; y te has hecho nombre cual es este día;

Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;

who performed signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even to this day, both in Israel and among other men; and made yourself a name, as it is today;

»Liberaste a Israel de Egipto con grandes milagros y demostraciones de poder y provocando terror en los egipcios.

Y sacaste tu pueblo Israel de tierra de Egipto con señales y portentos, y con mano fuerte y brazo extendido, con terror grande;

And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;

and brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, with wonders, with a strong hand, with an outstretched arm, and with great terror;

Diste a Israel esta tierra que prometiste a sus antepasados hace mucho, tierra tan pródiga que de ella se dice “por la que corre leche y miel”.

Y dísteles esta tierra, de la cual juraste á sus padres que se la darías, tierra que mana leche y miel:

And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;

and gave them this land, which you swore to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.

Vinieron nuestros antepasados, la conquistaron y vivieron en ella, pero se negaron a obedecerte y a cumplir tus instrucciones. No han hecho casi ninguna de las cosas que les ordenaste, por eso les has enviado este espantoso mal.

Y entraron, y poseyéronla: mas no oyeron tu voz, ni anduvieron en tu ley; nada hicieron de lo que les mandaste hacer; por tanto has hecho venir sobre ellos todo este mal.

And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:

They came in and possessed it, but they didn’t obey your voice and didn’t walk in your law. They have done nothing of all that you commanded them to do. Therefore you have caused all this evil to come upon them.

Mira cómo se han elevado los montículos de asalto contra las murallas de la ciudad, y cómo los babilonios tomarán la ciudad por el poder de sus ejércitos, por el hambre y la enfermedad. Todo ha ocurrido como tú dijiste, como planeaste que ocurriera.

He aquí que con arietes han acometido la ciudad para tomarla; y la ciudad va á ser entregada en mano de los Caldeos que pelean contra ella, á causa de la espada, y del hambre y de la pestilencia: ha pues venido á ser lo que tú dijiste, y he aquí tú lo estás viendo.

Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.

“Behold, siege ramps have been built against the city to take it. The city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, of the famine, and of the pestilence. What you have spoken has happened. Behold, you see it.

¡Y sin embargo, me ordenas comprar el campo y pagar una alta suma ante estos testigos, Señor, aun cuando la ciudad pertenecerá a nuestros enemigos!».

¡Oh Señor Jehová! ¿y me has tú dicho: Cómprate la heredad por dinero, y pon testigos; bien que la ciudad sea entregada en manos de los Caldeos?

And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

You have said to me, Lord GOD, ‘Buy the field for money, and call witnesses;’ whereas the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.”

Entonces le llegó este mensaje a Jeremías:

Y fué palabra de Jehová á Jeremías, diciendo:

Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,

Then the LORD’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,

Yo soy el Señor, el Dios de toda la humanidad. ¿Hay para mí algo demasiado difícil?

He aquí que yo soy Jehová, Dios de toda carne; ¿encubriráseme á mí alguna cosa?

Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?

Sí, daré esta ciudad a los babilonios y a Nabucodonosor, su rey; él la conquistará.

Por tanto así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí voy á entregar esta ciudad en mano de los Caldeos, y en mano de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, y la tomará:

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:

Therefore the LORD says: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will take it.

Y los babilonios que están fuera de las murallas entrarán y prenderán fuego a la ciudad y quemarán todas estas casas en cuyas azoteas han ustedes rendido homenaje al dios Baal por medio de agradables perfumes, y donde han derramado bebidas especiales en honor a otros dioses, provocando mi cólera.

Y vendrán los Caldeos que combaten esta ciudad, y la pondrán á fuego, y la abrasarán, asimismo las casas sobre cuyas azoteas ofrecieron perfumes á Baal y derramaron libaciones á dioses ajenos, para provocarme á ira.

And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.

The Chaldeans, who fight against this city, will come and set this city on fire, and burn it with the houses on whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal, and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger.

Porque Israel y Judá no han hecho sino lo malo desde su más tierna infancia; me han enfurecido con todas sus malas acciones.

Porque los hijos de Israel y los hijos de Judá no han hecho sino lo malo delante de mis ojos desde su juventud: porque los hijos de Israel no han hecho más que provocarme á ira con la obra de sus manos, dice Jehová.

For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.

“For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done only that which was evil in my sight from their youth; for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, says the LORD.

Desde que esta ciudad fue edificada hasta el presente, no ha hecho sino enojarme; así que estoy resuelto a deshacerme de ella.

Por manera que para enojo mío y para ira mía me ha sido esta ciudad, desde el día que la edificaron hasta hoy, para que la haga quitar de mi presencia;

For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,

For this city has been to me a provocation of my anger and of my wrath from the day that they built it even to this day, so that I should remove it from before my face,

Las malvadas acciones de Israel y Judá —del pueblo, de sus reyes, dignatarios, sacerdotes y profetas— me irritan.

Por toda la maldad de los hijos de Israel y de los hijos de Judá, que han hecho para enojarme, ellos, sus reyes, sus príncipes, sus sacerdotes, y sus profetas, y los varones de Judá, y los moradores de Jerusalem.

Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Me han vuelto la espalda y no han querido volverse a mí. Día tras día, año tras año, les enseñaba a discernir entre el bien y el mal, pero no querían escuchar ni obedecer.

Y volviéronme la cerviz, y no el rostro: y cuando los enseñaba, madrugando y enseñando, no escucharon para recibir corrección:

And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.

They have turned their backs to me, and not their faces. Although I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction.

Hasta llegaron a profanar mi templo rindiendo homenaje allí a ídolos abominables.

Antes asentaron sus abominaciones en la casa sobre la cual es invocado mi nombre, contaminándola.

But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.

Y han edificado elevados altares a Baal en el valle de Ben Hinón. Allí han quemado a sus hijos como sacrificio a Moloc, algo que jamás ordené y ni siquiera imaginé sugerir. ¡Qué increíble iniquidad, la cual lleva a Judá a pecar tan espantosamente!

Y edificaron altares á Baal, los cuales están en el valle del hijo de Hinnom, para hacer pasar por el fuego sus hijos y sus hijas á Moloch; lo cual no les mandé, ni me vino al pensamiento que hiciesen esta abominación, para hacer pecar á Judá.

And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Por lo tanto, el Señor Dios de Israel dice respecto a esta ciudad: ¡Caerá ante el poder del rey de Babilonia mediante guerra, hambre y enfermedad!

Y con todo, ahora así dice Jehová Dios de Israel, á esta ciudad, de la cual decís vosotros, Entregada será en mano del rey de Babilonia á cuchillo, á hambre, y á pestilencia:

And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;

Now therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, says concerning this city, about which you say, “It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:”

Pero aun así, yo traeré de nuevo a mi pueblo de regreso desde todos los países en donde mi furia los habrá esparcido. Los traeré a esa misma ciudad y haré que vivan en paz y seguridad.

He aquí que yo los juntaré de todas las tierras á las cuales los eché con mi furor, y con mi enojo y saña grande; y los haré tornar á este lugar, y harélos habitar seguramente;

Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:

“Behold, I will gather them out of all the countries where I have driven them in my anger, and in my wrath, and in great indignation; and I will bring them again to this place. I will cause them to dwell safely.

Y ellos serán mi pueblo y yo seré su Dios.

Y me serán por pueblo, y yo seré á ellos por Dios.

And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.

Y les daré corazón y mente dispuestos para honrarme y respetarme por siempre, por su propio bien y por el de todos sus descendientes.

Y daréles un corazón, y un camino, para que me teman perpetuamente, para que hayan bien ellos, y sus hijos después de ellos.

And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

Y celebraré un convenio eterno con ellos, prometiendo no volver a abandonarlos, y hacerles sólo bien. Pondré en sus corazones el deseo de honrarme y respetarme, y nunca me abandonarán.

Y haré con ellos pacto eterno, que no tornaré atrás de hacerles bien, y pondré mi temor en el corazón de ellos, para que no se aparten de mí.

And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

Me deleitaré en hacerles bien y los volveré a establecer en esta tierra con gran alegría.

Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

Así como les envié todos estos terrores y males, de igual modo les haré todo el bien que les he prometido.

Porque así ha dicho Jehová: Como traje sobre este pueblo todo este grande mal, así traeré sobre ellos todo el bien que acerca de ellos hablo.

For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.

For the LORD says: “Just as I have brought all this great evil on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.

Nuevamente se venderán y comprarán tierras en este país, hoy asolado por los babilonios, del cual han desaparecido personas y bestias.

Y poseerán heredad en esta tierra de la cual vosotros decís: Está desierta, sin hombres y sin animales; es entregada en manos de los Caldeos.

And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

Sí, se volverán a comprar y vender tierras —se firmarán y sellarán documentos de compra-venta ante testigos— en la región de Benjamín y aquí en Jerusalén, en las ciudades de Judá y en toda la región montañosa, en el valle de Filistea y también en el sur, porque un día yo les restauraré su prosperidad.

Heredades comprarán por dinero, y harán carta, y la sellarán, y pondrán testigos, en tierra de Benjamín y en los contornos de Jerusalem, y en las ciudades de Judá: y en las ciudades de las montañas, y en las ciudades de las campiñas, y en las ciudades del mediodía: porque yo haré tornar su cautividad, dice Jehová.
