Jeremías 37

And king Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, whom Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had made king, reigned as king in the land of Judah in place of Coniah, the son of Jehoiakim.

Y REINÓ el rey Sedechîas hijo de Josías, en lugar de Conías hijo de Joacim, al cual Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia había constituído por rey en la tierra de Judá.

And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.

Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.

But he and his servants and the people of the land did not listen to the words of Yahweh that he spoke by the hand of Jeremiah the prophet.

Mas no obedeció él, ni sus siervos, ni el pueblo de la tierra á las palabras de Jehová, que dijo por el profeta Jeremías.

But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.

But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, listened to the LORD’s words, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.

And king Zedekiah sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to Jeremiah the prophet, ⌞saying⌟, “Please pray for us to Yahweh our God.”

Y envió el rey Sedechîas á Jucal hijo de Selemías, y á Sephanías hijo de Maasías sacerdote, para que dijesen al profeta Jeremías: Ruega ahora por nosotros á Jehová nuestro Dios.

And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our God for us.

Now Jeremiah was coming and going out in the midst of the people and they had not put him in the house of imprisonment.

Y Jeremías entraba y salía en medio del pueblo; porque no lo habían puesto en la casa de la cárcel.

And the army of Pharaoh had come out from Egypt, and the Chaldeans, who were laying siege to Jerusalem, heard their report and they withdrew from Jerusalem.

Y como el ejército de Faraón hubo salido de Egipto, y vino la fama de ellos á oídos de los Caldeos que tenían cercada á Jerusalem, partiéronse de Jerusalem.

Then Pharaoh’s army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.

And the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah the prophet, ⌞saying⌟,

Entonces fué palabra de Jehová á Jeremías profeta, diciendo:

Then came the word of the LORD unto the prophet Jeremiah, saying,

“Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘This is what you shall say to the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me, “Look, the army of Pharaoh, which set out to help you, is going to return to his land Egypt.

Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel: Diréis así al rey de Judá, que os envió á mí para que me preguntaseis: He aquí que el ejército de Faraón que había salido en vuestro socorro, se volvió á su tierra en Egipto.

Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.

“The LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: “Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, will return to Egypt into their own land.

And the Chaldeans will return, and they will fight against this city, and they will capture it, and they will burn it with fire.” ’

Y tornarán los Caldeos, y combatirán esta ciudad, y la tomarán, y la pondrán á fuego.

And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.

The Chaldeans will come again, and fight against this city. They will take it and burn it with fire.”’

Thus says Yahweh: ‘You must not deceive yourselves, ⌞saying⌟, “Surely the Chaldeans will go from us,” for they will not go.

Así ha dicho Jehová: No engañéis vuestras almas, diciendo: Sin duda los Caldeos se han ido de nosotros: porque no se irán.

Thus saith the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.

“The LORD says, ‘Don’t deceive yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans will surely depart from us;” for they will not depart.

For even if you struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who are fighting against you, and only men pierced through remained among them, each one in his tent, they would rise up and they would burn this city with fire.’ ”

Porque aun cuando hirieseis todo el ejército de los Caldeos que pelean con vosotros, y quedasen de ellos hombres alanceados, cada uno se levantará de su tienda, y pondrán esta ciudad á fuego.

For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.

For though you had struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and only wounded men remained among them, they would each rise up in his tent and burn this city with fire.’”

⌞And then⌟, at the withdrawing of the army of the Chaldeans from Jerusalem ⌞before⌟ the army of Pharaoh,

Y aconteció que, como el ejército de los Caldeos se fué de Jerusalem á causa del ejército de Faraón,

And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,

When the army of the Chaldeans had withdrawn from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,

Jeremiah set out from Jerusalem to go to the land of Benjamin to receive a portion from there in the midst of the people.

Salíase de Jerusalem Jeremías para irse á tierra de Benjamín, para apartarse de allí en medio del pueblo.

Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people.

⌞And when⌟ he was at the Gate of Benjamin, there was ⌞a sentry on duty⌟ whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, ⌞saying⌟, “You are deserting to the Chaldeans!”

Y cuando fué á la puerta de Benjamín, estaba allí un prepósito que se llamaba Irías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Hananías, el cual prendió á Jeremías profeta, diciendo: Tú te retiras á los Caldeos.

And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.

When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”

And Jeremiah said, “That is a lie! I am not deserting to the Chaldeans.” But he would not listen to him. So Irijah seized Jeremiah and brought him to the officials.

Y Jeremías dijo: Falso: no me retiro á los Caldeos. Mas él no lo escuchó, antes prendió Irías á Jeremías, y llevólo delante de los príncipes.

Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.

Then Jeremiah said, “That is false! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans.” But he didn’t listen to him; so Irijah seized Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.

And the officials were angry at Jeremiah and they struck him. And they put him in ⌞prison⌟, in the house of Jonathan the secretary, for they had converted it to the ⌞prison⌟.

Y los príncipes se airaron contra Jeremías, y azotáronle, y pusiéronle en prisión en la casa de Jonathán escriba, porque aquélla habían hecho casa de cárcel.

Wherefore the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.

So Jeremiah came to the ⌞dungeon⌟, even to the vaulted cells, and Jeremiah stayed there many days.

Entró pues Jeremías en la casa de la mazmorra, y en las camarillas. Y habiendo estado allá Jeremías por muchos días,

When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;

When Jeremiah had come into the dungeon house and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days,

Then King Zedekiah sent and fetched him. And the king questioned him in secrecy in his house, and he said, “Is there a word from Yahweh?” And Jeremiah said, “There is.” And he said, “You will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon.”

El rey Sedechîas envió, y sacóle; y preguntóle el rey escondidamente en su casa, y dijo: ¿Hay palabra de Jehová? Y Jeremías dijo: Hay. Y dijo más: En mano del rey de Babilonia serás entregado.

Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.

then Zedekiah the king sent and had him brought out. The king asked him secretly in his house, “Is there any word from the LORD?” Jeremiah said, “There is.” He also said, “You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”

Then Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “What did I do wrong to you, or to your servants, or to this people, that you have put me in ⌞prison⌟?

Dijo también Jeremías al rey Sedechîas: ¿En qué pequé contra ti, y contra tus siervos, y contra este pueblo, para que me pusieseis en la casa de la cárcel?

Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?

Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “How have I sinned against you, against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?

And where are your prophets who prophesied to you, ⌞saying⌟, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you and against this land’?

¿Y dónde están vuestros profetas que os profetizaban, diciendo: No vendrá el rey de Babilonia contra vosotros, ni contra esta tierra?

Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?

Now where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you, nor against this land’?

Now then, my lord the king, please let my plea fall ⌞before you⌟. You must not send me back to the house of Jonathan the secretary, so that I will not die there.”

Ahora pues, oye, te ruego, oh rey mi señor: caiga ahora mi súplica delante de ti, y no me hagas volver á casa de Jonathán escriba, porque no me muera allí.

Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.

Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”

So King Zedekiah commanded, and they handed Jeremiah over in the courtyard of the guard, and they gave to him a round loaf of bread from the street of the bakers ⌞every day⌟ until the finishing of all the bread from the city. And Jeremiah stayed in the courtyard of the guard.

Entonces dió orden el rey Sedechîas, y depositaron á Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel, haciéndole dar una torta de pan al día, de la plaza de los Panaderos, hasta que todo el pan de la ciudad se gastase. Y quedó Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel.

Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
