Entró a reinar Sedecías, hijo de Josías, en lugar de Jeconías, hijo de Joakim, habiendo sido establecido rey de Judá por Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia.
Y REINÓ el rey Sedechîas hijo de Josías, en lugar de Conías hijo de Joacim, al cual Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia había constituído por rey en la tierra de Judá.
And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.

Y ni él, ni sus servidores, ni la gente de la tierra obedecieron a las palabras que el Señor dijo por boca del profeta Jeremías.
Mas no obedeció él, ni sus siervos, ni el pueblo de la tierra á las palabras de Jehová, que dijo por el profeta Jeremías.
But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.

Y envió el rey Sedecías a Jucal, hijo de Selemías, y a Sofonías, hijo de Maasías sacerdote, a decir al profeta Jeremías: Ruega por nosotros al Señor Dios nuestro.
Y envió el rey Sedechîas á Jucal hijo de Selemías, y á Sephanías hijo de Maasías sacerdote, para que dijesen al profeta Jeremías: Ruega ahora por nosotros á Jehová nuestro Dios.
And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our God for us.

Andaba entonces Jeremías libremente por entre el pueblo, pues no le habían aún puesto en la cárcel.
Y Jeremías entraba y salía en medio del pueblo; porque no lo habían puesto en la casa de la cárcel.

Entonces el Señor habló al profeta Jeremías del modo siguiente:

Esto dice el Señor Dios de Israel: Diréis al rey de Judá, que os ha enviado a consultarme: Mira que el ejército del faraón que venía a socorreros, se volverá a su tierra, a Egipto;
Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel: Diréis así al rey de Judá, que os envió á mí para que me preguntaseis: He aquí que el ejército de Faraón que había salido en vuestro socorro, se volvió á su tierra en Egipto.
Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
“The LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: “Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, will return to Egypt into their own land.
y volverán los caldeos, y combatirán contra esta ciudad, y se apoderarán de ella, y la entregarán a las llamas.
Y tornarán los Caldeos, y combatirán esta ciudad, y la tomarán, y la pondrán á fuego.
And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
The Chaldeans will come again, and fight against this city. They will take it and burn it with fire.”’
Esto dice el Señor: No queráis engañaros a vosotros mismos, diciendo: Se irán los caldeos para no volver, y nos dejarán en paz, porque entended que no se irán.
Así ha dicho Jehová: No engañéis vuestras almas, diciendo: Sin duda los Caldeos se han ido de nosotros: porque no se irán.
Thus saith the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.
“The LORD says, ‘Don’t deceive yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans will surely depart from us;” for they will not depart.
Pero aun cuando vosotros derrotaréis todo el ejército de los caldeos, que os hace la guerra, y solamente quedaren de él algunos pocos heridos, saldrían éstos solos de sus tiendas, y entregarían esta ciudad a las llamas.
Porque aun cuando hirieseis todo el ejército de los Caldeos que pelean con vosotros, y quedasen de ellos hombres alanceados, cada uno se levantará de su tienda, y pondrán esta ciudad á fuego.
For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.

Habiéndose, pues, retirado de Jerusalén el ejército de los caldeos, por causa del ejército del faraón,

partió Jeremías de Jerusalén para irse a la tierra de Benjamín, y para repartir allí cierta posesión en presencia de aquellos ciudadanos.
Salíase de Jerusalem Jeremías para irse á tierra de Benjamín, para apartarse de allí en medio del pueblo.
Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people.

Y así que llegó a la puerta llamada de Benjamín, el que estaba por turno haciendo la guardia de la puerta, el cual se llamaba Jerías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Hananías, asió al profeta Jeremías, diciendo: Tú huyes a los caldeos.
Y cuando fué á la puerta de Benjamín, estaba allí un prepósito que se llamaba Irías, hijo de Selemías, hijo de Hananías, el cual prendió á Jeremías profeta, diciendo: Tú te retiras á los Caldeos.
And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.
When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”
Es falso, respondió Jeremías, yo no hu-yo a los caldeos. Pero Jerías no lo escuchó, sino que prendió a Jeremías y lo presentó a los príncipes.
Y Jeremías dijo: Falso: no me retiro á los Caldeos. Mas él no lo escuchó, antes prendió Irías á Jeremías, y llevólo delante de los príncipes.
Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
Then Jeremiah said, “That is false! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans.” But he didn’t listen to him; so Irijah seized Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
Irritados con eso los príncipes contra Jeremías, después de haberlo hecho azotar, lo metieron en la cárcel que había en la casa de Jonatán, secretario o escriba, por tener éste a su cargo la cárcel.
Y los príncipes se airaron contra Jeremías, y azotáronle, y pusiéronle en prisión en la casa de Jonathán escriba, porque aquélla habían hecho casa de cárcel.
Wherefore the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.

Entró, pues, Jeremías en un hondo calabozo, y en una mazmorra, donde permaneció muchos días.

Después el rey Sedecías envió a sacarlo de allí, y lo interrogó secretamente en su palacio, diciéndole: ¿Crees tú que hay efectivamente alguna revelación de parte del Señor? Sí, la hay, respondió Jeremías, y añadió: Tú serás entregado en manos del rey de Babilonia.
El rey Sedechîas envió, y sacóle; y preguntóle el rey escondidamente en su casa, y dijo: ¿Hay palabra de Jehová? Y Jeremías dijo: Hay. Y dijo más: En mano del rey de Babilonia serás entregado.
Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.
then Zedekiah the king sent and had him brought out. The king asked him secretly in his house, “Is there any word from the LORD?” Jeremiah said, “There is.” He also said, “You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”
¿Y en qué he pecado contra ti, añadió Jeremías al rey Sedecías, contra tus servidores, o contra tu pueblo para que me hayas mandado poner en la cárcel?
Dijo también Jeremías al rey Sedechîas: ¿En qué pequé contra ti, y contra tus siervos, y contra este pueblo, para que me pusieseis en la casa de la cárcel?
Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?
Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “How have I sinned against you, against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?
¿Dónde están aquellos profetas vuestros que os profetizaban, y decían: No vendrá contra vosotros, ni contra esta tierra el rey de Babilonia?
¿Y dónde están vuestros profetas que os profetizaban, diciendo: No vendrá el rey de Babilonia contra vosotros, ni contra esta tierra?
Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
Now where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you, nor against this land’?
Ahora, pues, escúchame, te ruego, ¡oh rey mi Señor!; recibe favorablemente la súplica que te hago, y no me vuelvas otra vez a la casa o cárcel de Jonatán secretario, para que no me muera yo allí.
Ahora pues, oye, te ruego, oh rey mi señor: caiga ahora mi súplica delante de ti, y no me hagas volver á casa de Jonathán escriba, porque no me muera allí.
Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”
Mandó, pues, el rey Sedecías que pusiesen a Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel, y que cada día le diesen una torta de pan, además de la vianda, mientras hubiese pan en la ciudad; con eso se mantuvo Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel.
Entonces dió orden el rey Sedechîas, y depositaron á Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel, haciéndole dar una torta de pan al día, de la plaza de los Panaderos, hasta que todo el pan de la ciudad se gastase. Y quedó Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel.
Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
