Jeremías 38

Sefatias, filho de Matã, Gedalias, filho de Pasur, Jucal, filho de Selemias, e Pasur, filho de Malquias, ouviram tudo que Jeremias estava dizendo a todo o povo:

Y OYÓ Sephatías hijo de Mathán, y Gedalías hijo de Pashur, y Jucal hijo de Selemías, y Pashur hijo de Melchîas, las palabras que Jeremías hablaba á todo el pueblo, diciendo:

Then Shephatiah the son of Mattan, and Gedaliah the son of Pashur, and Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashur the son of Malchiah, heard the words that Jeremiah had spoken unto all the people, saying,

Shephatiah the son of Mattan, Gedaliah the son of Pashhur, Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur the son of Malchijah heard the words that Jeremiah spoke to all the people, saying,

“Assim diz o Senhor: ‘Quem ficar em Jerusalém morrerá pela espada, pela fome ou pela doença. Mas quem se render aos babilônios escapará com vida, mesmo perdendo tudo o que tem’.

Así ha dicho Jehová: El que se quedare en esta ciudad morirá á cuchillo, ó de hambre, ó de pestilencia; mas el que saliere á los Caldeos vivirá, pues su vida le será por despojo, y vivirá.

Thus saith the LORD, He that remaineth in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth forth to the Chaldeans shall live; for he shall have his life for a prey, and shall live.

“The LORD says, ‘He who remains in this city will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, but he who goes out to the Chaldeans will live. He will escape with his life and he will live.’

Assim diz o Senhor: ‘Sem a menor sombra de dúvida, Jerusalém será conquistada pelo exército do rei da Babilônia. Nabucodonosor tomará posse desta cidade’ ”.

Así ha dicho Jehová: De cierto será entregada esta ciudad en mano del ejército del rey de Babilonia, y tomarála.

Thus saith the LORD, This city shall surely be given into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army, which shall take it.

The LORD says, ‘This city will surely be given into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon, and he will take it.’”

Então os quatro oficiais procuraram o rei e disseram: “Este homem deve morrer! As suas palavras vão deixar todos os nossos soldados e cidadãos completamente desanimados! Ninguém mais vai querer lutar para defender a cidade. Jeremias não tem boas intenções com o povo; ele quer ver a sua ruína”.

Y dijeron los príncipes al rey: Muera ahora este hombre; porque de esta manera hace desmayar las manos de los hombres de guerra que han quedado en esta ciudad, y las manos de todo el pueblo, hablándoles tales palabras; porque este hombre no busca la paz de este pueblo, sino el mal.

Therefore the princes said unto the king, We beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.

Then the princes said to the king, “Please let this man be put to death, because he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them; for this man doesn’t seek the welfare of this people, but harm.”

O rei Zedequias concordou e disse: “Façam o que bem entenderem com ele. De qualquer maneira, eu não poderia impedir vocês”.

Y dijo el rey Sedechîas: Helo ahí, en vuestras manos está; que el rey no podrá contra vosotros nada.

Then Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand: for the king is not he that can do any thing against you.

Zedekiah the king said, “Behold, he is in your hand; for the king can’t do anything to oppose you.”

Os oficiais foram à cela onde estava Jeremias. Tiraram o profeta de lá e o jogaram dentro de um poço vazio no pátio da guarda do palácio. Esse poço pertencia a Malquias, filho do rei. Eles baixaram Jeremias com cordas. No fundo do poço não havia água, mas uma grossa camada de lama, e Jeremias ficou atolado nela.

Entonces tomaron ellos á Jeremías, é hiciéronlo echar en la mazmorra de Malchîas hijo de Amelech, que estaba en el patio de la cárcel; y metieron á Jeremías con sogas. Y en la mazmorra no había agua, sino cieno; y hundióse Jeremías en el cieno.

Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the mire.

Then they took Jeremiah and threw him into the dungeon of Malchijah the king’s son, that was in the court of the guard. They let down Jeremiah with cords. In the dungeon there was no water, but mire; and Jeremiah sank in the mire.

Quando Ebede-Meleque, o etíope responsável pelas esposas e filhos do rei Zedequias, soube que Jeremias tinha sido jogado dentro do poço,

Y oyendo Ebed-melec, hombre etiope, eunuco que estaba en casa del rey, que habían puesto á Jeremías en la mazmorra, y estando sentado el rey á la puerta de Benjamín,

Now when Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, one of the eunuchs which was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon; the king then sitting in the gate of Benjamin;

Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, a eunuch, who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon (the king was then sitting in Benjamin’s gate),

correu até o portão de Benjamim, onde o rei estava julgando um caso, e lhe disse:

Ebed-melec salió de la casa del rey, y habló al rey, diciendo:

Ebed-melech went forth out of the king’s house, and spake to the king, saying,

Ebedmelech went out of the king’s house, and spoke to the king, saying,

“Ó rei, meu senhor”, disse ele, “seus oficiais fizeram uma coisa muito má, jogando Jeremias dentro do poço. Lá dentro ele vai morrer de fome, porque já não há pão na cidade”.

Mi señor el rey, mal hicieron estos varones en todo lo que han hecho con Jeremías profeta, al cual hicieron echar en la mazmorra; porque allí se morirá de hambre, pues no hay más pan en la ciudad.

My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for there is no more bread in the city.

“My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon. He is likely to die in the place where he is, because of the famine; for there is no more bread in the city.”

Então o rei ordenou a Ebede-Meleque, o etíope: “Leve trinta homens sob as suas ordens e tire o profeta Jeremias de dentro do poço, antes que ele morra”.

Entonces mandó el rey al mismo Ebed-melec Etiope, diciendo: Toma en tu poder treinta hombres de aquí, y haz sacar á Jeremías profeta de la mazmorra, antes que muera.

Then the king commanded Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from hence thirty men with thee, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he die.

Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, “Take from here thirty men with you, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he dies.”

Ebede-Meleque escolheu os trinta homens. Chegando ao palácio, foi a um quarto onde se jogavam trapos e coisas velhas. Pegou uns pedaços de pano e, por meio de cordas, desceu-os a Jeremias no fundo do poço.

Y tomó Ebed-melec en su poder hombres, y entró á la casa del rey al lugar debajo de la tesorería, y tomó de allí trapos viejos, traídos, viejos, y andrajosos, y echólos á Jeremías con sogas en la mazmorra.

So Ebed-melech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.

So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took from there rags and worn-out garments, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.

Então Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, gritou para Jeremias: “Coloque esses trapos debaixo dos braços para servirem de almofada. Assim as cordas não cortarão suas axilas”. Jeremias fez conforme Ebede-Meleque sugeriu

Y dijo Ebed-melec Etiope á Jeremías: Pon ahora esos trapos viejos, traídos, y rotos, bajo los sobacos de tus brazos, debajo de las sogas. Y lo hizo así Jeremías.

And Ebed-melech the Ethiopian said unto Jeremiah, Put now these old cast clouts and rotten rags under thine armholes under the cords. And Jeremiah did so.

Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, “Now put these rags and worn-out garments under your armpits under the cords.” Jeremiah did so.

e foi puxado para cima, por meio de cordas. Depois que saiu do poço, Jeremias foi levado de volta para a prisão do palácio, junto ao alojamento dos guardas.

De este modo sacaron á Jeremías con sogas, y subiéronlo de la mazmorra; y quedó Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel.

So they drew up Jeremiah with cords, and took him up out of the dungeon: and Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

So they lifted Jeremiah up with the cords, and took him up out of the dungeon; and Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

Algum tempo depois, o rei Zedequias mandou buscar Jeremias, para encontrar-se com ele junto à terceira porta do templo do Senhor. Lá ele disse ao profeta: “Vou lhe fazer uma pergunta; quero que me responda apenas a verdade e não esconda coisa alguma!”

Después envió el rey Sedechîas, é hizo traer á sí á Jeremías profeta á la tercera entrada que estaba en la casa de Jehová. Y dijo el rey á Jeremías: Pregúntote una palabra, no me encubras ninguna cosa.

Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took Jeremiah the prophet unto him into the third entry that is in the house of the LORD: and the king said unto Jeremiah, I will ask thee a thing; hide nothing from me.

Then Zedekiah the king sent and took Jeremiah the prophet to himself into the third entry that is in the LORD’s house. Then the king said to Jeremiah, “I will ask you something. Hide nothing from me.”

Jeremias respondeu a Zedequias: “Se eu lhe disser a verdade, você não me matará? E, mesmo que eu lhe dê um bom conselho, você não me escutaria”.

Y Jeremías dijo á Sedechîas: Si te lo denunciare, ¿no es verdad que me matarás? y si te diere consejo, no has de escucharme.

Then Jeremiah said unto Zedekiah, If I declare it unto thee, wilt thou not surely put me to death? and if I give thee counsel, wilt thou not hearken unto me?

Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “If I declare it to you, will you not surely put me to death? If I give you counsel, you will not listen to me.”

Então, em segredo, Zedequias jurou a Jeremias: “Juro pelo nome do Senhor, de quem recebemos a vida, que não o matarei. Também não o entregarei aos homens que tentam tirar a sua vida”.

Y juró el rey Sedechîas en secreto á Jeremías, diciendo: Vive Jehová que nos hizo esta alma, que no te mataré, ni te entregaré en mano de estos varones que buscan tu alma.

So Zedekiah the king sware secretly unto Jeremiah, saying, As the LORD liveth, that made us this soul, I will not put thee to death, neither will I give thee into the hand of these men that seek thy life.

So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying, “As the LORD lives, who made our souls, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.”

Então Jeremias disse a Zedequias: “Assim diz o Senhor Todo-poderoso, o Deus de Israel: ‘Se você se entregar imediatamente aos oficiais do rei da Babilônia, salvará sua vida, salvará Jerusalém da destruição e poderá viver com sua família, e esta cidade não será incendiada.

Entonces dijo Jeremías á Sedechîas: Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Si salieres luego á los príncipes del rey de Babilonia, tu alma vivirá, y esta ciudad no será puesta á fuego; y vivirás tú y tu casa:

Then said Jeremiah unto Zedekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; If thou wilt assuredly go forth unto the king of Babylon’s princes, then thy soul shall live, and this city shall not be burned with fire; and thou shalt live, and thine house:

Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “The LORD, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you will go out to the king of Babylon’s princes, then your soul will live, and this city will not be burned with fire. You will live, along with your house.

Mas, se você não se render imediatamente, esta cidade será entregue nas mãos dos babilônios, eles a incendiarão, e você não conseguirá escapar dos soldados de Nabucodonosor’ ”.

Mas si no salieres á los príncipes del rey de Babilonia, esta ciudad será entregada en mano de los Caldeos, y la pondrán á fuego, y tú no escaparás de sus manos.

But if thou wilt not go forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, then shall this city be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and thou shalt not escape out of their hand.

But if you will not go out to the king of Babylon’s princes, then this city will be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they will burn it with fire, and you won’t escape out of their hand.’”

“Tenho medo de me render”, disse o rei a Jeremias, “ser entregue aos judeus que passaram para o lado dos babilônios, e eles me maltratarem”.

Y dijo el rey Sedechîas á Jeremías: Témome á causa de los Judíos que se han adherido á los Caldeos, que no me entreguen en sus manos y me escarnezcan.

And Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews that are fallen to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me.

Zedekiah the king said to Jeremiah, “I am afraid of the Jews who have defected to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me.”

Jeremias respondeu: “Basta você obedecer a estas ordens do Senhor, e nada de mal acontecerá. Você não será entregue aos inimigos e escapará com vida.

Y dijo Jeremías: No te entregarán. Oye ahora la voz de Jehová que yo te hablo, y tendrás bien, y vivirá tu alma.

But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver thee. Obey, I beseech thee, the voice of the LORD, which I speak unto thee: so it shall be well unto thee, and thy soul shall live.

But Jeremiah said, “They won’t deliver you. Obey, I beg you, the LORD’s voice, in that which I speak to you; so it will be well with you, and your soul will live.

Mas, se você teimar em não se render, é esta a profecia que o Senhor me autoriza a dar:

Mas si no quisieres salir, esta es la palabra que me ha mostrado Jehová:

But if thou refuse to go forth, this is the word that the LORD hath shewed me:

But if you refuse to go out, this is the word that the LORD has shown me:

Todas as suas mulheres serão entregues aos oficiais do rei da Babilônia! Elas lhe dirão: ‘Belos amigos você arranjou, esses egípcios! Quando a situação ficou ruim, eles nos abandonaram à nossa própria sorte!’

Y he aquí que todas las mujeres que han quedado en casa del rey de Judá, serán sacadas á los príncipes del rey de Babilonia; y ellas mismas dirán: Te han engañado, y prevalecido contra ti tus amigos; atollaron en el cieno tus pies, se volvieron atrás.

And, behold, all the women that are left in the king of Judah’s house shall be brought forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, and those women shall say, Thy friends have set thee on, and have prevailed against thee: thy feet are sunk in the mire, and they are turned away back.

‘Behold, all the women who are left in the king of Judah’s house will be brought out to the king of Babylon’s princes, and those women will say, “Your familiar friends have turned on you, and have prevailed over you. Your feet are sunk in the mire, they have turned away from you.”

Todas as suas mulheres e todos os seus filhos serão levados como escravos para a Babilônia. Você não conseguirá escapar. Será preso pelo rei da Babilônia, e esta cidade de Jerusalém será destruída a fogo!”

Sacarán pues, todas tus mujeres y tus hijos á los Caldeos, y tú no escaparás de sus manos, sino que por mano del rey de Babilonia serás preso, y á esta ciudad quemará á fuego.

So they shall bring out all thy wives and thy children to the Chaldeans: and thou shalt not escape out of their hand, but shalt be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon: and thou shalt cause this city to be burned with fire.

They will bring out all your wives and your children to the Chaldeans. You won’t escape out of their hand, but will be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon. You will cause this city to be burned with fire.’”

Quando terminou a conversa, Zedequias disse a Jeremias: “Não conte uma palavra desta conversa a pessoa alguma! Se alguém souber que estivemos conversando, você morrerá.

Y dijo Sedechîas á Jeremías: Nadie sepa estas palabras, y no morirás.

Then said Zedekiah unto Jeremiah, Let no man know of these words, and thou shalt not die.

Then Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, “Let no man know of these words, and you won’t die.

Se algum oficial vier perguntar sobre o que conversamos e ameaçar tirar a sua vida se você não contar,

Y si los príncipes oyeren que yo he hablado contigo, y vinieren á ti y te dijeren: Decláranos ahora qué hablaste con el rey, no nos lo encubras, y no te mataremos; asimismo qué te dijo el rey;

But if the princes hear that I have talked with thee, and they come unto thee, and say unto thee, Declare unto us now what thou hast said unto the king, hide it not from us, and we will not put thee to death; also what the king said unto thee:

But if the princes hear that I have talked with you, and they come to you, and tell you, ‘Declare to us now what you have said to the king; don’t hide it from us, and we will not put you to death; also tell us what the king said to you;’

diga que você apenas me pediu para não ser levado de volta à prisão da casa de Jônatas, porque você tem medo de morrer ali”.

Les dirás: Supliqué al rey que no me hiciese tornar á casa de Jonathán porque no me muriese allí.

Then thou shalt say unto them, I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to Jonathan’s house, to die there.

then you shall tell them, ‘I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to Jonathan’s house, to die there.’”

De fato, pouco tempo depois, os oficiais da cidade vieram interrogar Jeremias sobre a conversa entre ele e o rei. Ele disse exatamente o que Zedequias tinha mandado, e os oficiais partiram sem descobrir nada, deixando Jeremias em paz.

Y vinieron luego todos los príncipes á Jeremías, y preguntáronle: y él les respondió conforme á todo lo que el rey le había mandado. Con esto se dejaron de él, porque el negocio no se había oído.

Then came all the princes unto Jeremiah, and asked him: and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they left off speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived.

Then all the princes came to Jeremiah, and asked him; and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they stopped speaking with him, for the matter was not perceived.

E Jeremias continuou preso no pátio do palácio até o dia em que Jerusalém foi conquistada pelos exércitos da Babilônia.

Y quedó Jeremías en el patio de la cárcel hasta el día que fué tomada Jerusalem; y allí estaba cuando Jerusalem fué tomada.

So Jeremiah abode in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken: and he was there when Jerusalem was taken.

So Jeremiah stayed in the court of the guard until the day that Jerusalem was taken.
