Jeremias foi levado junto com outros moradores de Jerusalém para Ramá. Lá, Nebuzaradã, o chefe da guarda, encontrou o profeta acorrentado entre todos os cativos de Jerusalém e de Judá que estavam sendo levados para o exílio na Babilônia e o libertou.
PALABRA que fué á Jeremías de Jehová, después que Nabuzaradán capitán de la guardia le envió desde Ramá, cuando le tomó estando atado con esposas entre toda la transmigración de Jerusalem y de Judá que iban cautivos á Babilonia.
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.

Quando Nebuzaradã encontrou Jeremias, disse-lhe: “O Senhor, o seu Deus, fez acontecer toda essa destruição em Judá, tal como havia falado.

Isso aconteceu porque vocês pecaram contra o Senhor e não obedeceram às suas ordens. Sim, foi por isso que houve toda essa destruição!
Y halo traído y hecho Jehová según que había dicho: porque pecasteis contra Jehová, y no oísteis su voz, por eso os ha venido esto.
Now the LORD hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.

Mas hoje eu o liberto das correntes que prendem as suas mãos. Você está livre para fazer o que quiser; se preferir ir comigo para a Babilônia, está bem, eu tomarei conta de você. Se preferir ficar por aqui mesmo, está bem. Veja! Toda esta terra está diante de você; basta escolher e ir para onde melhor lhe parecer”.
Y ahora yo te he soltado hoy de las esposas que tenías en tus manos. Si te está bien venir conmigo á Babilonia, ven, y yo miraré por ti; mas si no te está bien venir conmigo á Babilonia, déjalo: mira, toda la tierra está delante de ti; ve á donde mejor y más cómodo te pareciere ir.
And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
Now, behold, I release you today from the chains which are on your hand. If it seems good to you to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will take care of you; but if it seems bad to you to come with me into Babylon, don’t. Behold, all the land is before you. Where it seems good and right to you to go, go there.”
Jeremias demorou a decidir, e Nebuzaradã acrescentou: “Vá procurar Gedalias, filho de Aicão, neto de Safã. Ele foi escolhido pelo rei Nabucodonosor como governador das cidades de Judá. Viva entre o povo, como um homem comum. A escolha é sua; faça o que achar melhor”. Então Nebuzaradã deu a Jeremias um pouco de alimento, algum dinheiro e o deixou partir.
Y aun no se había él vuelto, cuando le dijo: Vuélvete á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Saphán, al cual el rey de Babilonia ha puesto sobre todas las ciudades de Judá, y vive con él en medio del pueblo: ó ve á donde te pareciere más cómodo de ir. Y dióle el capitán de la guardia presentes y dones, y despidióle.
Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.
Now while he had not yet gone back, “Go back then,” he said, “to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right to you to go.” So the captain of the guard gave him food and a present, and let him go.
Jeremias foi para Gedalias, filho de Aicão, na cidade de Mispá. Ficou vivendo entre o povo que foi deixado em Judá.
Fuése entonces Jeremías á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, á Mizpa, y moró con él en medio del pueblo que había quedado en la tierra.
Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.

Quando os líderes dos grupos de soldados espalhados pelo interior de Judá souberam que o rei da Babilônia tinha nomeado Gedalias para governar a terra e cuidar dos pobres, homens, mulheres e crianças, e souberam que nem todo o povo tinha sido deportado para a Babilônia,
Y como oyeron todos los príncipes del ejército que estaba por el campo, ellos y sus hombres, que el rey de Babilonia había puesto á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam sobre la tierra, y que le había encomendado los hombres, y las mujeres, y los niños, y los pobres de la tierra, que no fueron trasportados á Babilonia;
Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;

foram a Mispá procurar Gedalias. Estes eram os líderes: Ismael, filho de Netanias, Joanã e Jônatas, filhos de Careá, Seraías, filho de Tanumete, os filhos de Efai, natural de Netofate, e Jezanias, filho de um sírio de Maaca, juntamente com seus soldados.
Vinieron luego á Gedalías en Mizpa, es á saber, Ismael hijo de Nethanías, y Johanán y Jonathán hijos de Carea, y Seraías hijo de Tanhumeth, y los hijos de Ephi Netophatita, y Jezanías hijo de Maachâti, ellos y sus hombres.
Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.

Gedalias, filho de Aicão, neto de Safã, fez um juramento a eles e aos seus soldados: “Fiquem conosco e sirvam ao rei da Babilônia, porque assim vocês viverão em paz e sem preocupações.
Y juróles Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Saphán, á ellos y á sus hombres, diciendo: No tengáis temor de servir á los Caldeos: habitad en la tierra, y servid al rey de Babilonia, y tendréis bien.
And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

Eu ficarei aqui em Mispá; quando o rei mandar supervisores para examinar minha administração, apresentarei um pedido em favor de vocês. Mas é preciso que vocês escolham cidades onde morar, colham as uvas, os figos, as azeitonas para fazer azeite, e ajuntem em toda a colheita”.
Y he aquí que yo habito en Mizpa, para estar delante de los Caldeos que vendrán á nosotros; mas vosotros, coged el vino, y el pan, y el aceite, y ponedlo en vuestros almacenes, y quedaos en vuestras ciudades que habéis tomado.

Todos os judeus que haviam fugido para as terras de Moabe, Amom e Edom ouviram que havia ficado um remanescente do povo na terra de Judá. Também ficaram sabendo que havia um governador escolhido pelo rei da Babilônia, Gedalias, filho de Aicão e neto de Safã.
Asimismo todos los Judíos que estaban en Moab, y entre los hijos de Ammón, y en Edom, y los que estaban en todas las tierras, cuando oyeron decir como el rey de Babilonia había dejado algunos en la Judea, y que había puesto sobre ellos á Gedalías hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Saphán,
Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;

Por causa disso, resolveram todos voltar para Judá, de todas as terras para onde tinham fugido. Apresentaram-se a Gedalias, em Mispá, tomaram posse de campos e fazendas e colheram muitas uvas para o vinho e frutas de verão.
Todos estos Judíos tornaron entonces de todas las partes adonde habían sido echados, y vinieron á tierra de Judá, á Gedalías en Mizpa; y cogieron vino y muy muchos frutos.

Algum tempo depois, Joanã, filho de Careá, e os outros comandantes do exército que ainda estavam em campo aberto, vieram procurar Gedalias em Mispá

e lhe disseram: “Tome cuidado porque Baalis, rei dos amonitas, contratou Ismael, filho de Netanias, para matá-lo”. Gedalias, no entanto, não acreditou neles.
Y dijéronle: ¿No sabes de cierto como Baalis, rey de los hijos de Ammón, ha enviado á Ismael hijo de Nethanías, para matarte? Mas Gedalías hijo de Ahicam no los creyó.
And said unto him, Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.
and said to him, “Do you know that Baalis the king of the children of Ammon has sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to take your life?” But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam didn’t believe them.
Então Joanã, filho de Careá, procurou Gedalias em particular e propôs o seguinte: “Olhe, que tal eu ir sozinho, sem ninguém saber, e matar Ismael, filho de Netanias? Por que ele deveria fazer com que esse remanescente do povo que ficou, os judeus que voltaram de outras terras, fosse novamente espalhado? Isso será uma desgraça para todo o povo que ficou em Judá”.
Entonces Johanán hijo de Carea habló á Gedalías en secreto, en Mizpa, diciendo: Yo iré ahora, y heriré á Ismael hijo de Nethanías, y hombre no lo sabrá: ¿por qué te ha de matar, y todos los Judíos que se han recogido á ti se derramarán, y perecerá el resto de Judá?
Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?
Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, “Please let me go, and I will kill Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man will know it. Why should he take your life, that all the Jews who are gathered to you should be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?”
Mas Gedalias, filho de Aicão, respondeu a Joanã, filho de Careá: “Você está proibido de fazer isso! Você está espalhando mentiras sobre Ismael”.
Pero Gedalías hijo de Ahicam dijo á Johanán hijo de Carea: No hagas esto, porque falso es lo que tú dices de Ismael.
But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.
But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah, “You shall not do this thing, for you speak falsely of Ishmael.”
