1Das Wort, welches der Prophet Jeremia zu Baruk, dem Sohne Nerijas, redete, als er diese Worte aus dem Munde Jeremias in ein Buch schrieb, im vierten Jahre Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, indem er sprach:
2So spricht Jehova, der Gott Israels, von dir, Baruk:
3Du sprichst: Wehe mir! Denn Jehova hat Kummer zu meinem Schmerze gefügt; ich bin müde von meinem Seufzen, und Ruhe finde ich nicht.
4So sollst du zu ihm sagen: So spricht Jehova: Siehe, was ich gebaut habe, breche ich ab; und was ich gepflanzt habe, reiße ich aus, und zwar das ganze Land.
5Und du, du trachtest nach großen Dingen für dich? Trachte nicht danach! Denn siehe, ich bringe Unglück über alles Fleisch, spricht Jehova; aber ich gebe dir deine Seele zur Beute an allen Orten, wohin du ziehen wirst.

1PALABRA que habló Jeremías profeta á Baruch hijo de Nerías, cuando escribía en el libro estas palabras de boca de Jeremías, el año cuarto de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, diciendo:
2Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel, á ti, oh Baruch:
3Tú dijiste: ¡Ay de mí ahora! porque me ha añadido Jehová tristeza sobre mi dolor; trabajé en mi gemido, y no he hallado descanso.
4Así le has de decir: Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que yo destruyo los que edifiqué, y arranco los que planté, y toda esta tierra.
5¿Y tú buscas para ti grandezas? No busques; porque he aquí que yo traigo mal sobre toda carne, ha dicho Jehová, y á ti te daré tu vida por despojo en todos los lugares adonde fueres.

1The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,
2Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch;
3Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.
4Thus shalt thou say unto him, The LORD saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.
5And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

1The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,
2“The LORD, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch:
3‘You said, “Woe is me now! For the LORD has added sorrow to my pain! I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest.”’
4“You shall tell him, the LORD says: ‘Behold, that which I have built, I will break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land.
5Do you seek great things for yourself? Don’t seek them; for, behold, I will bring evil on all flesh,’ says the LORD, ‘but I will let you escape with your life wherever you go.’”
