Este es el mensaje del Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, contra Moab: ¡Ay de la ciudad de Nebo, pues quedará en ruinas! La ciudad de Quiriatayin y sus fuertes defensivos son derribados y tomados.
ACERCA de Moab. Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: ¡Ay de Nebo! que fué destruída, fué avergonzada; Chîriathaim fué tomada; fué confusa Misgab, y desmayó.
Against Moab thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed.
Of Moab. The LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Woe to Nebo! For it is laid waste. Kiriathaim is disappointed. It is taken. Misgab is put to shame and broken down.
Jamás volverá nadie a jactarse respecto a Moab, pues hay un complot contra la vida de ella. En Hesbón se han trazado planes para destruirla. «Vengan», dicen, «la haremos desaparecer como nación». En Madmén reina el silencio. Luego surgirá contra Joronayin un rumor de batalla, pues todo Moab está siendo aniquilado. Su clamor llegará hasta Zoar.
No se alabará ya más Moab; contra Hesbón maquinaron mal, diciendo: Venid, y quitémosla de entre las gentes. También tú, Madmén, serás cortada, espada irá tras ti.
There shall be no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. Also thou shalt be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue thee.
The praise of Moab is no more. In Heshbon they have devised evil against her: ‘Come! Let’s cut her off from being a nation.’ You also, Madmen, will be brought to silence. The sword will pursue you.

¡Voz de clamor de Horonaim, destrucción y gran quebrantamiento!
A voice of crying shall be from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction.

Moab fué quebrantada; hicieron que se oyese el clamor de sus pequeños.

Sus refugiados subirán por las laderas de Luhit llorando amargamente, mientras de la ciudad que han dejado se escuchan gritos de terror.
Porque á la subida de Luhith con lloro subirá el que llora; porque á la bajada de Horonaim los enemigos oyeron clamor de quebranto.
For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.
For they will go up by the ascent of Luhith with continual weeping. For at the descent of Horonaim they have heard the distress of the cry of destruction.
¡Sálvese quien pueda; ocúltense en el desierto!
Huid, salvad vuestra vida, y sed como retama en el desierto.
Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.

Porque confiaron en su riqueza y sus habilidades, por lo tanto morirán. Su dios Quemós, junto con sus sacerdotes y príncipes, será llevado a tierras lejanas.
Pues por cuanto confiaste en tus haciendas, en tus tesoros, tú también serás tomada: y Chêmos saldrá en cautiverio, los sacerdotes y sus príncipes juntamente.
For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together.

Todos los pueblos y ciudades, tanto las que se localizan en las mesetas o en los valles, serán destruidos, porque el Señor lo ha decidido.
Y vendrá destruidor á cada una de las ciudades, y ninguna ciudad escapará: arruinaráse también el valle, y será destruída la campiña, como ha dicho Jehová.
And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken.

¡Ay, que Moab tuviera alas para escapar, pues no quedará en sus ciudades persona con vida!
Dad alas á Moab, para que volando se vaya; pues serán desiertas sus ciudades hasta no quedar en ellas morador.
Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein.

¡Malditos quienes refrenan sus espadas de derramar la sangre de ustedes, negándose a realizar la obra que el Señor les ha encomendado!
Maldito el que hiciere engañosamente la obra de Jehová, y maldito el que detuviere su cuchillo de la sangre.

Desde su más temprana historia, Moab ha vivido en su lugar, libre de toda invasión. Es como vino que no ha sido trasvasado y conserva su fragancia y suavidad. ¡Pero ahora será derramado en el destierro!
Quieto estuvo Moab desde su mocedad, y sobre sus heces ha estado él reposado, y no fué trasegado de vaso en vaso, ni nunca fué en cautiverio: por tanto quedó su sabor en él, y su olor no se ha trocado.
Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.
“Moab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his dregs, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither has he gone into captivity; therefore his taste remains in him, and his scent is not changed.
¡Pronto llegará el día, ha dicho el Señor, cuando él enviará atormentadores que lo trasvasen de cántaro en cántaro, y luego quebrará los cántaros!
Por eso, he aquí que vienen días, ha dicho Jehová, en que yo le enviaré trasportadores que lo harán trasportar; y vaciarán sus vasos, y romperán sus odres.
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.

Entonces por fin Moab será avergonzado debido a su ídolo Quemós, tal y como lo fue Israel por su idolátrico becerro en Betel.
Y avergonzaráse Moab de Chêmos, á la manera que la casa de Israel se avergonzó de Beth-el, su confianza.
And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Beth-el their confidence.

¿Recuerdas cómo se vanagloriaban: «Somos héroes, poderosos hombres de guerra»?
¿Cómo diréis: Somos valientes, y robustos hombres para la guerra?
How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war?
“How do you say, ‘We are mighty men, and valiant men for the war’?
Pero ahora Moab tiene que ser destruido; ya viene su destructor. La flor de su juventud está destinada a la matanza, dice el Rey, el Señor de los ejércitos.
Destruído fué Moab, y sus ciudades asoló, y sus escogidos mancebos descendieron al degolladero, ha dicho el Rey, cuyo nombre es Jehová de los ejércitos.
Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
Moab is laid waste, and they have gone up into his cities, and his chosen young men have gone down to the slaughter,” says the King, whose name is the LORD of Armies.
La desgracia y el dolor se acercan veloces sobre Moab.
Cercano está el quebrantamiento de Moab para venir, y su mal se apresura mucho.
The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.
“The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hurries fast.
¡Amigos de Moab: sollocen y lloren por ella! ¡Vean cómo es destrozada la hermosa y fuerte, la famosa!
Compadeceos de él todos los que estáis alrededor suyo; y todos los que sabéis su nombre, decid: ¿Cómo se quebró la vara de fortaleza, el báculo de hermosura?
All ye that are about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod!
All you who are around him, bemoan him; and all you who know his name, say, ‘How the strong staff is broken, the beautiful rod!’
Bajen de su gloria y siéntense en el polvo, pueblo de Dibón, porque quienes destruyen a Moab también a Dibón destrozarán y derribarán todas sus torres defensivas.
Desciende de la gloria, siéntate en seco, moradora hija de Dibón; porque el destruidor de Moab subió contra ti, disipó tus fortalezas.
Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, and he shall destroy thy strong holds.
“You daughter who dwells in Dibon, come down from your glory, and sit in thirst; for the destroyer of Moab has come up against you. He has destroyed your strongholds.
Los de Aroer observan con ansiedad apostados junto al camino, y gritan a los que pasan huyendo de Moab: «¿Qué pasó allá?».
Párate en el camino, y mira, oh moradora de Aroer: pregunta á la que va huyendo, y á la que escapó; dile: ¿Qué ha acontecido?
O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and espy; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, and say, What is done?
Inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way and watch. Ask him who flees, and her who escapes; say, ‘What has been done?’
Y ellos responden: «¡Moab está en ruinas; lloren y laméntense por ello! ¡Cuenten por las riberas del Arnón que Moab ha sido destruida!».
Avergonzóse Moab, porque fué quebrantado: aullad y clamad: denunciad en Arnón que Moab es destruído.
Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: howl and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled,
Moab is disappointed; for it is broken down. Wail and cry! Tell it by the Arnon, that Moab is laid waste.
Todas las ciudades de la meseta quedaron también convertidas en ruinas, porque el juicio del Señor ha caído sobre todas ellas: Holón, Yahaza, Mefat,
Y que vino juicio sobre la tierra de la campiña; sobre Holón, y sobre Jahzah, y sobre Mephaath,
And judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath,

¡Se acabó la fuerza de Moab: le arrancaron los cuernos, le quebraron los brazos!, dice el Señor.
Cortado es el cuerno de Moab, y su brazo quebrantado, dice Jehová.
The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the LORD.

Tropiece y caiga como borracha, porque se ha rebelado contra el Señor. Moab se revolcará en su vómito, sufriendo la burla de todos.
Embriagadlo, porque contra Jehová se engrandeció; y revuélquese Moab sobre su vómito, y sea también él por escarnio.
Make ye him drunken: for he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.
“Make him drunk, for he magnified himself against the LORD. Moab will wallow in his vomit, and he also will be in derision.
Y todo esto es porque hiciste sufrir a Israel, te burlabas de él como si hubiera sido sorprendido robando.
¿Y no te fué á ti Israel por escarnio, como si lo tomaran entre ladrones? porque desde que de él hablaste, tú te has movido.
For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.
For wasn’t Israel a derision to you? Was he found among thieves? For as often as you speak of him, you shake your head.
Pueblo de Moab, huye de tus ciudades y mora en cuevas como paloma que hace su nido en la hendidura de las peñas.
Desamparad las ciudades, y habitad en peñascos, oh moradores de Moab; y sed como la paloma que hace nido detrás de la boca de la caverna.
O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth.
You inhabitants of Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock. Be like the dove that makes her nest over the mouth of the abyss.
Todos hemos oído del orgullo de Moab, pues grande se cree. Sabemos de tu altivez, arrogancia y soberbio corazón: ¡eres muy engreída!
Oído hemos la soberbia de Moab, que es muy soberbio: su hinchazón y su orgullo, y su altivez y la altanería de su corazón.
We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.
“We have heard of the pride of Moab. He is very proud in his loftiness, his pride, his arrogance, and the arrogance of his heart.
Yo conozco tu insolencia, ha dicho el Señor, pero falsa es tu presunción y grande tu impotencia.
Yo conozco, dice Jehová, su cólera; mas no tendrá efecto: sus mentiras no han de aprovecharle.
I know his wrath, saith the LORD; but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.
I know his wrath,” says the LORD, “that it is nothing; his boastings have done nothing.
Sí, gimo de pesar por Moab y tengo el corazón lleno de tristeza por los habitantes de Quir Jeres.
Por tanto yo aullaré sobre Moab, y sobre todo Moab haré clamor, y sobre los hombres de Kir-heres gemiré.
Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine heart shall mourn for the men of Kir-heres.
Therefore I will wail for Moab. Yes, I will cry out for all Moab. They will mourn for the men of Kir Heres.
Varones de Sibma, ricos en viñedos, lloro por ustedes más que por Jazer, porque el invasor ha destruido tus lindos viñedos, tan famosos en toda la región. Tu cosecha y vendimia han sido convertidas en un desastre.
Con lloro de Jazer lloraré por ti, oh vid de Sibma: tus sarmientos pasaron la mar, llegaron hasta la mar de Jazer: sobre tu agosto y sobre tu vendimia vino destruidor.
O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.
With more than the weeping of Jazer I will weep for you, vine of Sibmah. Your branches passed over the sea. They reached even to the sea of Jazer. The destroyer has fallen on your summer fruits and on your vintage.
El júbilo y la alegría se fueron de la fértil Moab. Ya los lagares no dan vino; no hay quien exprima las uvas bajo sus pies mientras entona canciones alegres. Gritos hay, sí, ¡pero no de alegría!
Y será cortada la alegría y el regocijo de los campos labrados, y de la tierra de Moab: y haré cesar el vino de los lagares: no pisarán con canción; la canción no será canción.
And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting.
Gladness and joy is taken away from the fruitful field and from the land of Moab. I have caused wine to cease from the wine presses. No one will tread with shouting. The shouting will be no shouting.
Se levantan en cambio horribles gritos de terror por todo el país, desde Hesbón hasta Elalé y Yahaza, desde Zoar hasta Joronayin y Eglat Selisiyá. Los prados de Nimrín han quedado desiertos.
El clamor, desde Hesbón hasta Eleale; hasta Jaaz dieron su voz: desde Zoar hasta Horonaim, becerra de tres años: porque también las aguas de Nimrin serán destruídas.
From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, as an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.

Porque el Señor dice: ¡Yo acabé con la práctica de ofrecer homenaje a los falsos dioses y la ofrenda de perfumes delicados a los ídolos que realiza Moab!
Y haré cesar de Moab, dice Jehová, quien sacrifique en altar, y quien ofrezca sahumerio á sus dioses.
Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high places, and him that burneth incense to his gods.

En mi corazón hay mucha pesadumbre por Moab y Quir Jeres, pues toda su prosperidad se ha esfumado en un dos por tres.
Por tanto, mi corazón resonará como flautas por causa de Moab, asimismo resonará mi corazón á modo de flautas por los hombres de Kir-heres: porque perecieron las riquezas que había hecho.
Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kir-heres: because the riches that he hath gotten are perished.

Angustiados, los hombres se rasuran la cabeza y la barba, se hieren el cuerpo y visten saco penitencial.
Porque en toda cabeza habrá calva, y toda barba será raída; sobre todas manos rasguños, y sacos sobre todos los lomos.
For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.

En todo hogar de Moab y en las calles habrá llanto y dolor porque descargué mi golpe y rompí a Moab como a cacharro viejo e inútil.
Sobre todas las techumbres de Moab y en sus calles, todo él será llanto; porque yo quebranté á Moab como á vaso que no agrada, dice Jehová.
There shall be lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the LORD.
On all the housetops of Moab, and in its streets, there is lamentation everywhere; for I have broken Moab like a vessel in which no one delights,” says the LORD.
¡Cómo quedó quebrantada! ¡Oigan sus gemidos! ¡Miren la vergüenza de Moab! Porque ella constituye ahora ejemplo de horror y burla para sus vecinos.
Aullad: ¡Cómo ha sido quebrantado! ¡cómo volvió la cerviz Moab, y fué avergonzado! Y fué Moab en escarnio y en espanto á todos los que están en sus alrededores.
They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.
“How it is broken down! How they wail! How Moab has turned the back with shame! So will Moab become a derision and a terror to all who are around him.”
El Señor se levanta sobre el país de Moab como si fuera un águila en vuelo.
Porque así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que como águila volará, y extenderá sus alas á Moab.
For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab.
For the LORD says: “Behold, he will fly as an eagle, and will spread out his wings against Moab.
Sus ciudades han sido destruidas, sus fortalezas defensivas han sido tomadas. A sus más fuertes guerreros les tiembla el corazón de miedo como a mujer ante los dolores del parto.
Tomadas son las ciudades, y tomadas son las fortalezas; y será aquel día el corazón de los valientes de Moab como el corazón de mujer en angustias.
Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
Kerioth is taken, and the strongholds are seized. The heart of the mighty men of Moab at that day will be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
Moab ha sido totalmente destruida, ya no volverá a ser nación, porque se ha jactado contra el Señor.
Y Moab será destruído para dejar de ser pueblo: porque se engrandeció contra Jehová.
And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.

¡Miedo, emboscadas y traición serán tu herencia, oh Moab! dice el Señor.
Miedo y hoyo y lazo sobre ti, oh morador de Moab, dice Jehová.
Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD.
Terror, the pit, and the snare are on you, inhabitant of Moab,” says the LORD.
El que huya caerá en una trampa y el que escape de esta caerá en un lazo de cazador. Yo me encargaré de que no escapen, porque ha llegado el día de su juicio, dice el Señor.
El que huyere del miedo, caerá en el hoyo; y el que saliere del hoyo, será preso del lazo: porque yo traeré sobre él, sobre Moab, año de su visitación, dice Jehová.
He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.
“He who flees from the terror will fall into the pit; and he who gets up out of the pit will be taken in the snare, for I will bring on him, even on Moab, the year of their visitation,” says the LORD.
Huyen a Hesbón incapaces de ir más lejos. Pero fuego surge en Hesbón, en la región de Sijón, y de un extremo al otro devora el país junto con su población rebelde.
A la sombra de Hesbón se pararon los que huían de la fuerza; mas salió fuego de Hesbón, y llama de en medio de Sihón, y quemó el rincón de Moab, y la mollera de los hijos revoltosos.
They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.
“Those who fled stand without strength under the shadow of Heshbon; for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, and a flame from the middle of Sihon, and has devoured the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.
¡Ay de ti, Moab! El pueblo del dios Quemós ha sido destruido, y a sus hijos e hijas se los llevan como esclavos.
¡Ay de ti, Moab! pereció el pueblo de Chêmos: porque tus hijos fueron presos para cautividad, y tus hijas para cautiverio.
Woe be unto thee, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perisheth: for thy sons are taken captives, and thy daughters captives.
Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh are undone; for your sons are taken away captive, and your daughters into captivity.
Pero más adelante, dice el Señor, yo restauraré a Moab. (Aquí termina la profecía relativa a Moab).
Empero haré tornar el cautiverio de Moab en lo postrero de los tiempos, dice Jehová. Hasta aquí es el juicio de Moab.
Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the latter days, saith the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.
“Yet I will reverse the captivity of Moab in the latter days,” says the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.
