Olhei em volta procurando alguém, mas todos os homens haviam desaparecido; no céu não havia uma ave sequer. Todas haviam fugido.

Miré, y no parecía hombre, y todas las aves del cielo se habían ido.

I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
