Si juras: ‘Por la vida de Yahvé’, con verdad, justicia y rectitud, entonces las naciones serán bendecidas por él y en él encontrarán su motivo de orgullo”.
Y jurarás, diciendo, Vive Jehová, con verdad, con juicio, y con justicia: y bendecirse han en él las gentes, y en él se gloriarán.

Porque así dice Yahvé a los hombres de Judá y de Jerusalén: “Preparen su tierra virgen y no siembren entre espinos.

Conságrense a Yahvé y quiten la maldad de su corazón, hombres de Judá y habitantes de Jerusalén. No sea que mi enojo se encienda como un fuego y arda sin que nadie pueda apagarlo, a causa de sus malas acciones.
Circuncidaos á Jehová, y quitad los prepucios de vuestro corazón, varones de Judá y moradores de Jerusalem; no sea que mi ira salga como fuego, y se encienda y no haya quien apague, por la malicia de vuestras obras.

Un león ha salido de su escondite; un destructor de naciones se ha puesto en marcha. Ha dejado su lugar para reducir tu tierra a cenizas; tus ciudades quedarán en ruinas y nadie vivirá en ellas.
El león sube de su guarida, y el destruidor de gentes ha partido; salido ha de su asiento para poner tu tierra en soledad; tus ciudades serán asoladas, y sin morador.
The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

Por eso, vístanse de luto, lloren y laméntense, porque el fuego de la ira de Yahvé no se ha apartado de nosotros.

“En aquel día — dice Yahvé — el rey perderá el valor, y también sus jefes. Los sacerdotes se quedarán pasmados y los profetas no podrán creer lo que ven”.
Y será en aquel día, dice Jehová, que desfallecerá el corazón del rey, y el corazón de los príncipes, y los sacerdotes estarán atónitos, y se maravillarán los profetas.
And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
“It will happen at that day,” says the LORD, “that the heart of the king will perish, along with the heart of the princes. The priests will be astonished, and the prophets will wonder.”
Entonces yo dije: “¡Ay, Señor Yahvé! De verdad has engañado a este pueblo y a Jerusalén al decirles: ‘Tendrán paz’, cuando en realidad tienen la espada en la garganta”.
Y dije: ¡Ay, ay, Jehová Dios! verdaderamente en gran manera has engañado á este pueblo y á Jerusalem, diciendo, Paz tendréis; pues que el cuchillo ha venido hasta el alma.
Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.

En ese tiempo se dirá a este pueblo y a Jerusalén: “Un viento abrasador sopla desde las lomas del desierto hacia mi pueblo; no es un viento para limpiar el trigo.
En aquel tiempo se dirá de este pueblo y de Jerusalem: Viento seco de las alturas del desierto vino á la hija de mi pueblo, no para aventar, ni para limpiar.
At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,

Es un viento mucho más fuerte el que viene por orden mía. Ahora soy yo quien va a dictar sentencia contra ellos”.

¡Miren! El enemigo avanza como las nubes; sus carros parecen un torbellino y sus caballos son más rápidos que las águilas. ¡Pobres de nosotros, estamos perdidos!
He aquí que subirá como nube, y su carro como torbellino: más ligeros con sus caballos que las águilas. ¡Ay de nosotros, porque dados somos á saco!
Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.

Jerusalén, limpia tu corazón de tanta maldad para que puedas salvarte. ¿Hasta cuándo seguirás alimentando tus malos pensamientos?
Lava de la malicia tu corazón, oh Jerusalem, para que seas salva. ¿Hasta cuándo dejarás estar en medio de ti los pensamientos de iniquidad?
O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?

Ya se escuchan noticias desde Dan; desde los cerros de Efraín anuncian la desgracia.
Porque la voz se oye del que trae las nuevas desde Dan, y del que hace oir la calamidad desde el monte de Ephraim.
For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.

“Avisen a las naciones; anuncien contra Jerusalén: ‘Viene un ejército sitiador de una tierra lejana y ya gritan sus gritos de guerra contra las ciudades de Judá’.
Decid á las gentes; he aquí, haced oir sobre Jerusalem: Guardas vienen de tierra lejana, y darán su voz sobre las ciudades de Judá.
Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
“Tell the nations, behold, publish against Jerusalem, ‘Watchers come from a far country, and raise their voice against the cities of Judah.
La rodean como quienes cuidan un campo, porque ella se rebeló contra mí”, dice el Señor.
Como las guardas de las heredades, estuvieron sobre ella en derredor, porque se rebeló contra mí, dice Jehová.
As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.
As keepers of a field, they are against her all around, because she has been rebellious against me,’” says the LORD.
“Tu propia conducta y tus acciones te han traído esto. Este es tu castigo, y es muy amargo; ¡te ha herido en lo más profundo del corazón!”.
Tu camino y tus obras te hicieron esto, ésta tu maldad: por lo cual amargura penetrará hasta tu corazón.
Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.
“Your way and your doings have brought these things to you. This is your wickedness, for it is bitter, for it reaches to your heart.”
¡Qué dolor, qué dolor! ¡Siento que el corazón se me parte! Me late el pecho con fuerza y no puedo quedarme callado. Porque he escuchado el toque de la trompeta y el grito de guerra.
¡Mis entrañas, mis entrañas! Me duelen las telas de mi corazón: mi corazón ruge dentro de mí; no callaré; porque voz de trompeta has oído, oh alma mía, pregón de guerra.
My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

Se anuncia un desastre tras otro, pues todo el país ha sido devastado. En un instante mis tiendas fueron destruidas; en un momento mis campamentos quedaron en ruinas.
Quebrantamiento sobre quebrantamiento es llamado; porque toda la tierra es destruída: en un punto son destruídas mis tiendas, en un momento mis cortinas.
Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.
Destruction on destruction is decreed, for the whole land is laid waste. Suddenly my tents are destroyed, and my curtains gone in a moment.
¿Hasta cuándo tendré que ver banderas de guerra y escuchar el toque de la trompeta?

How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?

“Es que mi pueblo es necio, no me conocen. Son como niños tontos que no entienden nada. Son expertos para hacer lo malo, pero no saben cómo hacer lo bueno”.
Porque mi pueblo es necio; no me conocieron los hijos ignorantes y los no entendidos; sabios para mal hacer, y para bien hacer no supieron.
For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
“For my people are foolish. They don’t know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but they don’t know how to do good.”

Porque así dice Yahvé: “Todo el país quedará desolado, aunque no lo destruiré por completo.

Al oír el ruido de la caballería y de los arqueros, todos salen huyendo. Unos se esconden en el bosque y otros trepan por las rocas. Todas las ciudades han sido abandonadas; no queda ni un solo habitante.
Del estruendo de la gente de á caballo y de los flecheros huyó toda la ciudad; entráronse en las espesuras de los bosques, y subiéronse en peñascos; todas las ciudades fueron desamparadas, y no quedó en ellas morador alguno.
The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.

Y tú, que estás condenada a la ruina, ¿qué piensas hacer? Aunque te vistas de lujo, te pongas joyas de oro y te pintes mucho los ojos, de nada te sirve arreglarte tanto. Tus amantes te desprecian; lo que quieren es matarte.
Y tú, destruída, ¿qué harás? Bien que te vistas de grana, aunque te adornes con atavíos de oro, aunque pintes con antimonio tus ojos, en vano te engalanas; menospreciáronte los amadores, buscarán tu alma.
And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.
You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck yourself with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with makeup, you make yourself beautiful in vain. Your lovers despise you. They seek your life.
Oigo gritos como de una mujer de parto, como los de alguien que da a luz por primera vez. Es la voz de la ciudad de Sión, que respira con dificultad y extiende los brazos diciendo: “¡Ay de mí, que me muero en manos de los asesinos!”.
Porque voz oí como de mujer que está de parto, angustia como de primeriza; voz de la hija de Sión que lamenta y extiende sus manos, diciendo: ¡Ay ahora de mí! que mi alma desmaya á causa de los matadores.
