Assim diz o Senhor ao povo de Judá e de Jerusalém: “Passem o arado na terra que não foi preparada e não semeiem as sementes entre os espinhos.
Porque así dice Jehová á todo varón de Judá y de Jerusalem: Haced barbecho para vosotros, y no sembréis sobre espinas.

Façam uma nova aliança com o Senhor, povo de Judá e moradores de Jerusalém! Mas deve ser uma aliança para purificar seus corações e seus pensamentos em vez de simplesmente o seu corpo. Se vocês não fizerem isso, a minha ira vai queimar como fogo. E, por causa da maldade de seus pecados, o meu furor queimará, e ninguém será capaz de apagar esse fogo!
Circuncidaos á Jehová, y quitad los prepucios de vuestro corazón, varones de Judá y moradores de Jerusalem; no sea que mi ira salga como fuego, y se encienda y no haya quien apague, por la malicia de vuestras obras.

Um leão saiu da sua toca, um destruidor de nações caminha para cá. Ele saiu de onde vive para arrasar a terra. Em breve destruirá completamente todas as cidades desta terra que ficarão sem um único habitante.
El león sube de su guarida, y el destruidor de gentes ha partido; salido ha de su asiento para poner tu tierra en soledad; tus ciudades serán asoladas, y sin morador.
The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

Por isso, vistam roupas de luto, chorem e gritem de tristeza e dor, pois o fogo da ira do Senhor contra nós ainda não passou.
Por esto vestíos de saco, endechad y aullad; porque la ira de Jehová no se ha apartado de nosotros.
For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.

“E quando a invasão começar”, diz o Senhor, “os reis e seus príncipes perderão a coragem, os sacerdotes serão dominados pelo medo e os profetas perderão a noção das coisas”.

Então eu disse: “Ah, Soberano Senhor, o povo foi enganado pelas suas palavras. O Senhor prometeu paz para Jerusalém, mas na verdade a espada já está em nossa garganta!”

Naquele dia será dito ao povo de Judá e a Jerusalém: “Vindo do deserto, um vento muito quente vai soprar sobre a minha família, o meu povo, mas não será um vento fraco para peneirar a palha do trigo.
En aquel tiempo se dirá de este pueblo y de Jerusalem: Viento seco de las alturas del desierto vino á la hija de mi pueblo, no para aventar, ni para limpiar.
At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,

É um vento muito forte, que vem ao meu comando. Então anunciarei a vocês a condenação de seus pecados”.
Viento más vehemente que estos vendrá á mí: y ahora yo hablaré juicios con ellos.
Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.

Vejam! O inimigo avança sobre nós como nuvens que cobrem o céu; os seus carros de guerra são como a tempestade, e os seus cavalos são mais ligeiros do que as águias. Ai de nós! Chegou o nosso fim!
He aquí que subirá como nube, y su carro como torbellino: más ligeros con sus caballos que las águilas. ¡Ay de nosotros, porque dados somos á saco!

Ó Jerusalém, limpe o mal do seu coração enquanto ainda há tempo para se salvar. Até quando permanecerão em seu íntimo esses maus pensamentos?
Lava de la malicia tu corazón, oh Jerusalem, para que seas salva. ¿Hasta cuándo dejarás estar en medio de ti los pensamientos de iniquidad?
O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long will your evil thoughts lodge within you?
O castigo pela sua idolatria já foi proclamado da região de Dã, e dos montes de Efraim anuncia-se calamidade.
Porque la voz se oye del que trae las nuevas desde Dan, y del que hace oir la calamidad desde el monte de Ephraim.
For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.

“Anunciem às outras nações que os exércitos inimigos vêm de longe para cercar Jerusalém, fazendo ameaças de destruição contra todas as cidades de Judá.
Decid á las gentes; he aquí, haced oir sobre Jerusalem: Guardas vienen de tierra lejana, y darán su voz sobre las ciudades de Judá.
Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
“Tell the nations, behold, publish against Jerusalem, ‘Watchers come from a far country, and raise their voice against the cities of Judah.
Eles cercam Jerusalém como homens que guardam um campo, o meu povo se rebelou contra mim”, diz o Senhor.
Como las guardas de las heredades, estuvieron sobre ella en derredor, porque se rebeló contra mí, dice Jehová.
As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.
As keepers of a field, they are against her all around, because she has been rebellious against me,’” says the LORD.
“O seu mau comportamento, o seu próprio pecado é que trouxe a desgraça sobre você. Como é amargo esse seu castigo. Ele atinge o seu próprio coração!”
Tu camino y tus obras te hicieron esto, ésta tu maldad: por lo cual amargura penetrará hasta tu corazón.
Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.
“Your way and your doings have brought these things to you. This is your wickedness, for it is bitter, for it reaches to your heart.”
Meu coração, ai meu coração; estou me torcendo de dor! Ó meu coração! O meu coração está disparando dentro do meu peito! Não posso ficar quieto, porque já ouvi o som da trombeta e os gritos de guerra do inimigo.
¡Mis entrañas, mis entrañas! Me duelen las telas de mi corazón: mi corazón ruge dentro de mí; no callaré; porque voz de trompeta has oído, oh alma mía, pregón de guerra.
My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
My anguish, my anguish! I am pained at my very heart! My heart trembles within me. I can’t hold my peace, because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
Ondas e ondas de destruição caem sobre a terra, até ela ficar completamente destruída! De repente, num instante, minhas tendas foram derrubadas e os meus abrigos destruídos.
Quebrantamiento sobre quebrantamiento es llamado; porque toda la tierra es destruída: en un punto son destruídas mis tiendas, en un momento mis cortinas.
Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.

Quanto tempo isso vai durar? Até quando terei de ver o sinal levantado e ouvir o toque da trombeta na batalha?

How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
How long will I see the standard and hear the sound of the trumpet?
“O meu povo não tem juízo e não me conhece. São crianças tolas que não compreendem as coisas; não têm juízo. São muito espertos para praticar o mal, mas não sabem fazer o bem!”
Porque mi pueblo es necio; no me conocieron los hijos ignorantes y los no entendidos; sabios para mal hacer, y para bien hacer no supieron.
For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
“For my people are foolish. They don’t know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but they don’t know how to do good.”
Olhei para a terra, e ela havia se transformado em total confusão, completamente vazia. Olhei para os céus, e a sua luz havia desaparecido.
Miré la tierra, y he aquí que estaba asolada y vacía; y los cielos, y no había en ellos luz.
I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

Assim diz o Senhor: “Toda essa terra ficará devastada, embora não a consuma de todo.

Por causa disso, a terra ficará de luto; os céus se cobrirão de preto; porque eu falei e não me arrependi, nem voltarei atrás”.

Todas as cidades fogem, cheias de medo, ao ouvir o barulho dos exércitos, dos cavalos e dos soldados. Os moradores se escondem nas matas e outros escalam as rochas. As cidades ficaram completamente vazias, sem ninguém para defendê-las.
Del estruendo de la gente de á caballo y de los flecheros huyó toda la ciudad; entráronse en las espesuras de los bosques, y subiéronse en peñascos; todas las ciudades fueron desamparadas, y no quedó en ellas morador alguno.
The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.

O que você está fazendo, ó cidade devastada? Por que você se veste de vermelho, enfeita-se de joias de ouro e pinta os olhos? Isso não adianta nada! Os seus antigos amantes a desprezam e tentarão matar você!
Y tú, destruída, ¿qué harás? Bien que te vistas de grana, aunque te adornes con atavíos de oro, aunque pintes con antimonio tus ojos, en vano te engalanas; menospreciáronte los amadores, buscarán tu alma.
And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.
You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck yourself with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with makeup, you make yourself beautiful in vain. Your lovers despise you. They seek your life.
Ouvi gritos desesperados como os de uma mulher em trabalho de parto, como a agonia de uma mulher ao dar à luz pela primeira vez. É o grito da cidade de Sião, respirando com dificuldade, estendendo os braços pedindo ajuda e dizendo: “Ai de mim! Estou perdida! Ajudem-me! A minha alma desfalece por causa dos assassinos!”
Porque voz oí como de mujer que está de parto, angustia como de primeriza; voz de la hija de Sión que lamenta y extiende sus manos, diciendo: ¡Ay ahora de mí! que mi alma desmaya á causa de los matadores.
