Jeremías 4

¡Oh Israel, si te has de convertir de tus extravíos, conviértete a mí de corazón, dice el Señor! Si quitas tus escándalos o ídolos de mi presencia, no serás removido de tu tierra.

SI te has de convertir, oh Israel, dice Jehová, conviértete á mí; y si quitares de delante de mí tus abominaciones, no andarás de acá para allá.

If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.

“If you will return, Israel,” says the LORD, “if you will return to me, and if you will put away your abominations out of my sight; then you will not be removed;

Y sea tu juramento (hecho con verdad, en juicio, y con justicia): Viva el Señor; y bendecirán y alabarán al Señor las naciones todas.

Y jurarás, diciendo, Vive Jehová, con verdad, con juicio, y con justicia: y bendecirse han en él las gentes, y en él se gloriarán.

And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

and you will swear, ‘As the LORD lives,’ in truth, in justice, and in righteousness. The nations will bless themselves in him, and they will glory in him.”

Porque esto dice el Señor a los varones de Judá y de Jerusalén : Preparad surco barbecho, y no sembréis sobre espinas.

Porque así dice Jehová á todo varón de Judá y de Jerusalem: Haced barbecho para vosotros, y no sembréis sobre espinas.

For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.

For the LORD says to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem, “Break up your fallow ground, and don’t sow among thorns.

Circuncidaos por amor del Señor, y separad de vuestro corazón las inmundicias, ¡oh vosotros, varones de Judá, y moradores de Jerusalén !, no sea que se manifieste cual fuego abrasador mi enojo, y suceda un incendio, y no haya quien pueda apagarle por causa de la malicia de vuestros designios.

Circuncidaos á Jehová, y quitad los prepucios de vuestro corazón, varones de Judá y moradores de Jerusalem; no sea que mi ira salga como fuego, y se encienda y no haya quien apague, por la malicia de vuestras obras.

Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

Anunciad, pues, a Judá todo esto, y contadlo a Jerusalén ; echad la voz, y tocad la trompeta por todo el país. Gritad fuerte y decid: Jun-taos y encerrémonos en las ciudades fortificadas.

Denunciad en Judá, y haced oir en Jerusalem, y decid: Sonad trompeta en la tierra. Pregonad, juntad, y decid: Reuníos, y entrémonos en las ciudades fuertes.

Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.

Declare in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, ‘Blow the trumpet in the land!’ Cry aloud and say, ‘Assemble yourselves! Let’s go into the fortified cities!’

Alzad en Sión el estandarte; fortificaos, y no os detengáis; porque yo hago venir del septentrión el azote y una gran desolación.

Alzad bandera en Sión, juntaos, no os detengáis; porque yo hago venir mal del aquilón, y quebrantamiento grande.

Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.

Set up a standard toward Zion. Flee for safety! Don’t wait; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.”

Ha salido el león de su guarida, y se ha alzado el destrozador o conquistador de las gentes: se ha puesto en camino para asolar tu tierra; arruinadas serán tus ciudades, sin que quede un solo morador.

El león sube de su guarida, y el destruidor de gentes ha partido; salido ha de su asiento para poner tu tierra en soledad; tus ciudades serán asoladas, y sin morador.

The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

A lion has gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations. He is on his way. He has gone out from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.

Por tanto vestíos de cilicio, prorrumpid en llanto y en alaridos; pues la tremenda indignación del Señor no se ha apartado de nosotros.

Por esto vestíos de saco, endechad y aullad; porque la ira de Jehová no se ha apartado de nosotros.

For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.

For this, clothe yourself with sackcloth, lament and wail; for the fierce anger of the LORD hasn’t turned back from us.

En aquel día, dice el Señor, desfallecerá el corazón del rey, y el corazón de los príncipes; estarán atónitos los sacerdotes, y consternados los profetas.

Y será en aquel día, dice Jehová, que desfallecerá el corazón del rey, y el corazón de los príncipes, y los sacerdotes estarán atónitos, y se maravillarán los profetas.

And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.

“It will happen at that day,” says the LORD, “that the heart of the king will perish, along with the heart of the princes. The priests will be astonished, and the prophets will wonder.”

Y yo dije al oír eso: ¡Ay, ay, Señor Dios mío! ¡Ay!, ¿y es posible que hayas permitido que los falsos profetas alucinasen a este pueblo tuyo, y a Jerusalén , diciendo: Paz tendréis vosotros; cuando he aquí que la espada del enemigo ha penetrado hasta el corazón?

Y dije: ¡Ay, ay, Jehová Dios! verdaderamente en gran manera has engañado á este pueblo y á Jerusalem, diciendo, Paz tendréis; pues que el cuchillo ha venido hasta el alma.

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.

Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Surely you have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You will have peace;’ whereas the sword reaches to the heart.”

En aquel tiempo se dirá a este pueblo y a Jerusalén : Un viento abrasador sopla de la parte del desierto, en el camino que viene de Babilonia a la hija de mi pueblo, y no es viento para aventar y limpiar el grano.

En aquel tiempo se dirá de este pueblo y de Jerusalem: Viento seco de las alturas del desierto vino á la hija de mi pueblo, no para aventar, ni para limpiar.

At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,

At that time it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem, “A hot wind blows from the bare heights in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow, nor to cleanse.

Un viento más impetuoso me vendrá de aquel lado, y entonces yo les haré conocer la severidad de mis juicios.

Viento más vehemente que estos vendrá á mí: y ahora yo hablaré juicios con ellos.

Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.

A full wind from these will come for me. Now I will also utter judgments against them.”

He aquí que el ejército enemigo vendrá como una espesa nube, y sus carros de guerra como un torbellino; más veloces que águilas son sus caballos. ¡Ay desdichados de nosotros!, dirán entonces: Somos perdidos.

He aquí que subirá como nube, y su carro como torbellino: más ligeros con sus caballos que las águilas. ¡Ay de nosotros, porque dados somos á saco!

Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.

Behold, he will come up as clouds, and his chariots will be as the whirlwind. His horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! For we are ruined.

Lava, pues, ¡oh Jerusalén !, tu corazón de toda malicia, si quieres salvarte. ¿Hasta cuándo tendrán acogida en ti los pensamientos nocivos o perversos?

Lava de la malicia tu corazón, oh Jerusalem, para que seas salva. ¿Hasta cuándo dejarás estar en medio de ti los pensamientos de iniquidad?

O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?

Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long will your evil thoughts lodge within you?

Mira que ya se oye la voz de uno que llega de Dan, y anuncia y hace saber que el ídolo está viniendo por el monte de Efraín.

Porque la voz se oye del que trae las nuevas desde Dan, y del que hace oir la calamidad desde el monte de Ephraim.

For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.

For a voice declares from Dan, and publishes evil from the hills of Ephraim:

Decid, pues, a las gentes: Sabed que se ha oído en Jerusalén que vienen las milicias o tropas enemigas de lejanas tierras, y han alzado ya el grito contra las ciudades de Judá.

Decid á las gentes; he aquí, haced oir sobre Jerusalem: Guardas vienen de tierra lejana, y darán su voz sobre las ciudades de Judá.

Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.

“Tell the nations, behold, publish against Jerusalem, ‘Watchers come from a far country, and raise their voice against the cities of Judah.

Se estarán día y noche alrededor de ella como los guardas en las heredades; porque me ha provocado a ira, dice el Señor.

Como las guardas de las heredades, estuvieron sobre ella en derredor, porque se rebeló contra mí, dice Jehová.

As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.

As keepers of a field, they are against her all around, because she has been rebellious against me,’” says the LORD.

Tus procederes y tus pensamientos te han ocasionado, ¡oh Jerusalén !, estas cosas; esa malicia tuya es la causa de la amargura que ha traspasado tu corazón.

Tu camino y tus obras te hicieron esto, ésta tu maldad: por lo cual amargura penetrará hasta tu corazón.

Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.

“Your way and your doings have brought these things to you. This is your wickedness, for it is bitter, for it reaches to your heart.”

¡Ay!, mis entrañas, las entrañas mías se han conmovido de dolor y congoja; todos los interiores afectos de mi corazón están en desorden; no puedo callar cuando ha oído ya mi alma el sonido de la trompeta, el grito de la batalla.

¡Mis entrañas, mis entrañas! Me duelen las telas de mi corazón: mi corazón ruge dentro de mí; no callaré; porque voz de trompeta has oído, oh alma mía, pregón de guerra.

My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

My anguish, my anguish! I am pained at my very heart! My heart trembles within me. I can’t hold my peace, because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.

Ha venido desastre sobre desastre, y ha quedado asolada toda la tierra, de repente, en un momento fueron derribadas mis tiendas y pabellones.

Quebrantamiento sobre quebrantamiento es llamado; porque toda la tierra es destruída: en un punto son destruídas mis tiendas, en un momento mis cortinas.

Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.

Destruction on destruction is decreed, for the whole land is laid waste. Suddenly my tents are destroyed, and my curtains gone in a moment.

¿Hasta cuándo he de ver fugitivos a los de mi pueblo, y he de oír el sonido de la trompeta enemiga?

¿Hasta cuándo tengo de ver bandera, tengo de oir voz de trompeta?

How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?

How long will I see the standard and hear the sound of the trumpet?

El necio pueblo mío, dice el Señor, no me conoció, hijos insensatos son y mentecatos; para hacer el mal son sabios; mas el bien no saben hacerlo.

Porque mi pueblo es necio; no me conocieron los hijos ignorantes y los no entendidos; sabios para mal hacer, y para bien hacer no supieron.

For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

“For my people are foolish. They don’t know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but they don’t know how to do good.”

Eché una mirada a la tierra, y la vi vacía y sin nada; y a los cielos, y no había luz en ellos.

Miré la tierra, y he aquí que estaba asolada y vacía; y los cielos, y no había en ellos luz.

I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

I saw the earth and, behold, it was waste and void, and the heavens, and they had no light.

Miré los montes, y reparé que temblaban, y que todos los collados se estremecían.

Miré los montes, y he aquí que temblaban, y todos los collados fueron destruídos.

I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.

Estuve observando la Judea, y no se veía un hombre siquiera; y se habían retirado del país todas las aves del cielo.

Miré, y no parecía hombre, y todas las aves del cielo se habían ido.

I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.

I saw, and behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the sky had fled.

Miré y vi convertidas en un desierto sus fértiles campiñas; todas sus ciudades han quedado destruidas a la presencia del Señor, a la presencia de su tremenda indignación.

Miré, y he aquí el Carmelo desierto, y todas sus ciudades eran asoladas á la presencia de Jehová, á la presencia del furor de su ira.

I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.

I saw, and behold, the fruitful field was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down at the presence of the LORD, before his fierce anger.

Pero he aquí lo que dice el Señor: Toda la tierra de Judá quedará desierta, mas no acabaré de arruinarla del todo.

Porque así dijo Jehová: Toda la tierra será asolada; mas no haré consumación.

For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

For the LORD says, “The whole land will be a desolation; yet I will not make a full end.

Llorará la tierra, y se enlutarán arriba los cielos, por razón de lo que decreté; lo resolví y no me arrepentí, ni ahora cambio de parecer.

Por esto se enlutará la tierra, y los cielos arriba se oscurecerán, porque hablé, pensé, y no me arrepentí, ni me tornaré de ello.

For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.

For this the earth will mourn, and the heavens above be black, because I have spoken it. I have planned it, and I have not repented, neither will I turn back from it.”

Al ruido de la caballería y de los arqueros echó a huir toda la ciudad; corrieron a esconderse entre los riscos, se subieron a los peñascos; fueron desamparadas todas las ciudades, sin que quedase en ellas un solo habitante.

Del estruendo de la gente de á caballo y de los flecheros huyó toda la ciudad; entráronse en las espesuras de los bosques, y subiéronse en peñascos; todas las ciudades fueron desamparadas, y no quedó en ellas morador alguno.

The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.

Every city flees for the noise of the horsemen and archers. They go into the thickets and climb up on the rocks. Every city is forsaken, and not a man dwells therein.

¿Y qué harás ahora, oh desolada hija de Sión? ¿Qué harás? Por más que te vistas de grana, aunque te adornes con joyas de oro, y pintes con antimonio tus ojos, en vano te engalanarás; tus amantes te han desdeñado, quieren acabar contigo.

Y tú, destruída, ¿qué harás? Bien que te vistas de grana, aunque te adornes con atavíos de oro, aunque pintes con antimonio tus ojos, en vano te engalanas; menospreciáronte los amadores, buscarán tu alma.

And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.

You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck yourself with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with makeup, you make yourself beautiful in vain. Your lovers despise you. They seek your life.

Porque he oído gritos como de mujer que está de parto, ansias y congojas como de primeriza; la voz de la hija de Sión moribunda que extiende sus manos, y dice: ¡Ay de mí!, que me abandona mi alma al ver la mortandad de mis hijos.

Porque voz oí como de mujer que está de parto, angustia como de primeriza; voz de la hija de Sión que lamenta y extiende sus manos, diciendo: ¡Ay ahora de mí! que mi alma desmaya á causa de los matadores.

For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.

For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of her who gives birth to her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, who gasps for breath, who spreads her hands, saying, “Woe is me now! For my soul faints before the murderers.”
