1Recorre rápidamente las calles de Jerusalén y ve ahora, adquiere conocimiento y busca en sus lugares amplios si hay un hombre, si hay uno que sea recto, que mantenga la fe; y ella tendrá mi perdón.
2Y aunque dicen: Por el Señor viviente; Verdaderamente sus juramentos son falsos.
3Oh Señor, ¿no ven tus ojos buena fe? Les has dado un castigo, pero no les dolió; les enviaste destrucción, pero rehusaron recibir corrección; les endureció la cara más que una roca; han rechazado arrepentirse.
4Entonces dije: Pero estos son los pobres; son tontos, porque no tienen conocimiento del camino del Señor ni del comportamiento deseado por su Dios.
5Iré a los grandes hombres y hablaré con ellos; porque tienen conocimiento del camino del Señor y del comportamiento deseado por su Dios. Pero en cuanto a estos, también quebrantaron el yugo y rompieron las coyundas.
6Y así, un león del bosque los matará, un lobo del desierto los destruirá, un leopardo vigilará sus pueblos, y todos los que salgan de ellos serán alimento para las bestias; por el gran número de sus pecados y el aumento de sus malas acciones.
7¿Cómo es posible que tengas mi perdón por esto? tus hijos me han abandonado, dando su juramento para aquellos que no es Dios; cuando les había dado comida en toda su medida, eran infieles a sus esposas, complaciéndose en las casas de rameras en compañía.
8Estaban llenos de deseo, como caballos después de una comida de grano; todos iban tras la esposa de su vecino.
9¿No debo castigar por estas cosas? dice el Señor: ¿no he de dar su merecido a una nación como esta?
10Sube sus paredes y haz destrucción; pero no los destruyas por completo; quita sus ramas, porque no son las del Señor.
11Porque el pueblo de Israel y el pueblo de Judá han sido desleales conmigo, dice el Señor.
12Negaron al Señor, diciendo: él no es, Él no hará nada, y ningún mal vendrá a nosotros; no veremos la espada ni hambre.
13Y los profetas se convertirán en viento, y la palabra no está en ellos; así se les hará.
14Por esta razón, el Señor, el Dios de los ejércitos, ha dicho; Por lo que has dicho, haré que mis palabras en tu boca se conviertan en fuego, y esta gente en madera, y serán quemados por ella.
15Mira, te enviaré una nación de muy lejos, oh pueblo de Israel, dice el Señor; una nación fuerte y una nación antigua, una nación cuyo lenguaje te es extraño, para que no puedas percibir el sentido de sus palabras.
16Sus flechas dan muerte segura, todos son hombres de guerra.
17Ellos comerán todo lo que produzcan en tus campos, que habría sido alimento para tus hijos y tus hijas: comerán tus rebaños y reses; comerán todas tus viñedos y tus higueras: y con la Espada destruirán tus ciudades amuralladas en que tu confias.
18Pero aun en esos días, dice el Señor, no permitiré que tu destrucción sea completa.
19Y sucederá cuando digas: ¿Por qué el Señor nuestro Dios nos ha hecho todas estas cosas? les dirás: “ Así como abandonaron al Señor, haciéndote siervos de dioses extraños en su propia tierra, serán siervos de hombres extranjeros en una tierra que no es tuya”.
20Di esto abiertamente en la casa de Jacob y procamenlo en Judá, diciendo:
21Escuchen ahora esto, oh necios sin entendimiento; que tienen ojos pero no ven nada, y oídos sin el poder de oír.
22¿No me temes? dice el Señor ¿No tiemblan de miedo ante mí, que he puesto la arena como límite para el mar, por un orden eterno, para que no pueda pasarlo? y aunque está siempre en movimiento, no puede seguir su camino; Aunque el sonido de sus ondas es fuerte, no pueden pasarlo.
23Pero el corazón de este pueblo está descontrolado y rebelde; Me han abandonado y se han ido.
24Y no dicen en sus corazones: Ahora, adoremos a nuestro Dios, que da la lluvia, el invierno y la lluvia de la primavera, en el momento adecuado; Quién nos guarda las semanas ordenadas del corte de grano.
25Por tu maldad, estas cosas han sido rechazadas y tus pecados te han ocultado el bien.
26Porque hay pecadores entre mi pueblo; ellos vigilan, como los hombres que observan las aves; Ponen una red y se llevan hombres.
27Como la casa de las aves está llena de pájaros, también están sus casas llenas de engaño; por esta razón se han hecho grandes y tienen riqueza.
28Se han vuelto gordos y fuertes; han ido muy lejos en las obras del mal; no apoyan la causa del huérfano, para que prospere; Ni defienden los derechos del pobre.
29¿No debo castigar por estas cosas? dice el Señor: ¿no he de dar su merecido a una nación como esta?
30Una cosa de asombro y temor ha ocurrido en la tierra;
31Los profetas dan palabras falsas y los sacerdotes toman decisiones por su cuenta; y mi gente se alegra de tenerlo así, ¿y qué harás al final?

1DISCURRID por las plazas de Jerusalem, y mirad ahora, y sabed, y buscad en sus plazas si halláis hombre, si hay alguno que haga juicio, que busque verdad; y yo la perdonaré.
2Y si dijeren: Vive Jehová; por tanto jurarán mentira.
3Oh Jehová, ¿no miran tus ojos á la verdad? Azotástelos, y no les dolió; consumístelos, y no quisieron recibir corrección; endurecieron sus rostros más que la piedra, no quisieron tornarse.
4Yo empero dije: Por cierto ellos son pobres, enloquecido han, pues no conocen el camino de Jehová, el juicio de su Dios.
5Irme he á los grandes, y hablaréles; porque ellos conocen el camino de Jehová, el juicio de su Dios. Ciertamente ellos también quebraron el yugo, rompieron las coyundas.
6Por tanto, león del monte los herirá, destruirálos lobo del desierto, tigre acechará sobre sus ciudades; cualquiera que de ellas saliere, será arrebatado: porque sus rebeliones se han multiplicado, hanse aumentado sus deslealtades.
7¿Cómo te he de perdonar por esto? Sus hijos me dejaron, y juraron por lo que no es Dios. Saciélos, y adulteraron, y en casa de ramera se juntaron en compañías.
8Como caballos bien hartos fueron á la mañana, cada cual relinchaba á la mujer de su prójimo.
9¿No había de hacer visitación sobre esto? dijo Jehová. De una gente como ésta ¿no se había de vengar mi alma?
10Escalad sus muros, y destruid; mas no hagáis consumación: quitad las almenas de sus muros, porque no son de Jehová.
11Porque resueltamente se rebelaron contra mí la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá, dice Jehová.
12Negaron á Jehová, y dijeron: El no es, y no vendrá mal sobre nosotros, ni veremos cuchillo ni hambre;
13Antes los profetas serán como viento, y no hay en ellos palabra; así se hará á ellos.
14Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová Dios de los ejércitos: Porque hablasteis esta palabra, he aquí yo pongo en tu boca mis palabras por fuego, y á este pueblo por leños, y los consumirá.
15He aquí yo traigo sobre vosotros gente de lejos, oh casa de Israel, dice Jehová; gente robusta, gente antigua, gente cuya lengua ignorarás, y no entenderás lo que hablare.
16Su aljaba como sepulcro abierto, todos valientes.
17Y comerá tu mies y tu pan, que habían de comer tus hijos y tus hijas; comerá tus ovejas y tus vacas, comerá tus viñas y tus higueras; y tus ciudades fuertes en que tú confías, tornará en nada á cuchillo.
18Empero en aquellos días, dice Jehová, no os acabaré del todo.
19Y será que cuando dijereis: ¿Por qué hizo Jehová el Dios nuestro con nosotros todas estas cosas? entonces les dirás: De la manera que me dejasteis á mí, y servisteis á dioses ajenos en vuestra tierra, así serviréis á extraños en tierra ajena.
20Denunciad esto en la casa de Jacob, y haced que esto se oiga en Judá, diciendo:
21Oid ahora esto, pueblo necio y sin corazón, que tienen ojos y no ven, que tienen oídos y no oyen:
22¿A mí no temeréis? dice Jehová; ¿no os amedrentaréis á mi presencia, que al mar por ordenación eterna, la cual no quebrantará, puse arena por término? Se levantarán tempestades, mas no prevalecerán; bramarán sus ondas, mas no lo pasarán.
23Empero este pueblo tiene corazón falso y rebelde; tornáronse y fuéronse.
24Y no dijeron en su corazón: Temamos ahora á Jehová Dios nuestro, que da lluvia temprana y tardía en su tiempo; los tiempos establecidos de la siega nos guarda.
25Vuestras iniquidades han estorbado estas cosas; y vuestros pecados apartaron de vosotros el bien.
26Porque fueron hallados en mi pueblo impíos; acechaban como quien pone lazos; pusieron trampa para tomar hombres.
27Como jaula llena de pájaros, así están sus casas llenas de engaño: así se hicieron grandes y ricos.
28Engordaron y pusiéronse lustrosos, y sobrepujaron los hechos del malo: no juzgaron la causa, la causa del huérfano; con todo hiciéronse prósperos, y la causa de los pobres no juzgaron.
29¿No tengo de visitar sobre esto? dice Jehová; ¿y de tal gente no se vengará mi alma?
30Cosa espantosa y fea es hecha en la tierra:
31Los profetas profetizaron mentira, y los sacerdotes dirigían por manos de ellos; y mi pueblo así lo quiso. ¿Qué pues haréis á su fin?
King James Version
1Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.
2And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.
3O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
4Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.
5I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.
6Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.
7How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.
8They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour’s wife.
9Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
10Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD’s.
11For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.
12They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:
13And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
14Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
15Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.
16Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.
17And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.
18Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.
19And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
20Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,
21Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:
22Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?
23But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.
24Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
25Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.
26For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.
27As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.
28They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
29Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
30A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;
31The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?
World English Bible
1“Run back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in its wide places, if you can find a man, if there is anyone who does justly, who seeks truth, then I will pardon her.
2Though they say, ‘As the LORD lives,’ surely they swear falsely.”
3O LORD, don’t your eyes look on truth? You have stricken them, but they were not grieved. You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than a rock. They have refused to return.
4Then I said, “Surely these are poor. They are foolish; for they don’t know the LORD’s way, nor the law of their God.
5I will go to the great men and will speak to them, for they know the way of the LORD, and the law of their God.” But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.
6Therefore a lion out of the forest will kill them. A wolf of the evenings will destroy them. A leopard will watch against their cities. Everyone who goes out there will be torn in pieces, because their transgressions are many and their backsliding has increased.
7“How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me, and sworn by what are no gods. When I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the prostitutes’ houses.
8They were as fed horses roaming at large. Everyone neighed after his neighbor’s wife.
9Shouldn’t I punish them for these things?” says the LORD. “Shouldn’t my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
10“Go up on her walls, and destroy, but don’t make a full end. Take away her branches, for they are not the LORD’s.
11For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me,” says the LORD.
12They have denied the LORD, and said, “It is not he. Evil won’t come on us. We won’t see sword or famine.
13The prophets will become wind, and the word is not in them. Thus it will be done to them.”
14Therefore the LORD, the God of Armies says, “Because you speak this word, behold, I will make my words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it will devour them.
15Behold, I will bring a nation on you from far away, house of Israel,” says the LORD. “It is a mighty nation. It is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you don’t know and don’t understand what they say.
16Their quiver is an open tomb. They are all mighty men.
17They will eat up your harvest and your bread, which your sons and your daughters should eat. They will eat up your flocks and your herds. They will eat up your vines and your fig trees. They will beat down your fortified cities in which you trust with the sword.
18“But even in those days,” says the LORD, “I will not make a full end of you.
19It will happen when you say, ‘Why has the LORD our God done all these things to us?’ Then you shall say to them, ‘Just as you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’
20“Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,
21‘Hear this now, foolish people without understanding, who have eyes, and don’t see, who have ears, and don’t hear:
22Don’t you fear me?’ says the LORD; ‘Won’t you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it can’t pass it? Though its waves toss themselves, yet they can’t prevail. Though they roar, they still can’t pass over it.’
23“But this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart. They have revolted and gone.

30“An astonishing and horrible thing has happened in the land.
31The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will you do in the end of it?
