Ah, Senhor, a única coisa que o deixa satisfeito é a verdade! Bem que o Senhor tentou ensinar isso ao povo, castigando-o, mas eles não se importaram! O Senhor os esmagou, mas eles não aproveitaram a sua correção. Endureceram o seu coração mais que a rocha, e recusaram-se a se arrepender.
Oh Jehová, ¿no miran tus ojos á la verdad? Azotástelos, y no les dolió; consumístelos, y no quisieron recibir corrección; endurecieron sus rostros más que la piedra, no quisieron tornarse.

Vou procurar os líderes, as pessoas importantes, e falarei com eles. Com certeza eles conhecem o caminho do Senhor e sabem que Deus julga o pecado. Mas todos eles também não quiseram obedecer a Deus e se revoltaram contra ele.

“Vocês acham que, vendo isso, eu ainda deveria perdoar? Seus filhos me abandonaram e adoram ídolos que não são deuses. Eu dei de comer ao meu povo e, quando já estavam satisfeitos, cometeram adultério, reunindo-se em casas de prostituição.

Os profetas de Deus não passam de um bando de faladores que não têm autoridade para falar. Todas essas ameaças de castigo vão cair sobre eles mesmos, mas não sobre nós!”

Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Todo-poderoso: “Já que esse povo zomba dos meus profetas, eu vou transformar em fogo as palavras que falei através de você; vou fazer desse povo lenha, e eles serão destruídos quando as profecias forem cumpridas.
Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová Dios de los ejércitos: Porque hablasteis esta palabra, he aquí yo pongo en tu boca mis palabras por fuego, y á este pueblo por leños, y los consumirá.

As suas armas são mortais; todos os soldados dessa nação são homens valentes.

“Mas, mesmo quando tudo isso acontecer, eu não vou destruir vocês completamente”, declara o Senhor.

“Quando o povo perguntar: ‘Por que o Senhor, o nosso Deus, fez tudo isso conosco?’, você deve responder: Vocês abandonaram o Senhor e se entregaram aos deuses dos estrangeiros em sua própria terra. É por isso que, agora, vocês serão escravos em terra alheia!
Y será que cuando dijereis: ¿Por qué hizo Jehová el Dios nuestro con nosotros todas estas cosas? entonces les dirás: De la manera que me dejasteis á mí, y servisteis á dioses ajenos en vuestra tierra, así serviréis á extraños en tierra ajena.
And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
It will happen when you say, ‘Why has the LORD our God done all these things to us?’ Then you shall say to them, ‘Just as you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’

Escute bem, povo tolo e ignorante, gente que tem olhos mas não vê, que tem ouvidos mas não ouve.

Será que vocês não têm respeito por mim?”, pergunta o Senhor. “Será que vocês não tremem diante da minha presença? Porque fui eu que fiz da areia o limite para o mar, um limite eterno, que ele nunca vai ultrapassar; mesmo que as ondas se levantem e o mar fique muito bravo, dali não passará!
¿A mí no temeréis? dice Jehová; ¿no os amedrentaréis á mi presencia, que al mar por ordenación eterna, la cual no quebrantará, puse arena por término? Se levantarán tempestades, mas no prevalecerán; bramarán sus ondas, mas no lo pasarán.
Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

Mas o coração do meu povo é tão mau e rebelde; eles se afastaram e me abandonaram.

Eles não dizem no seu íntimo: ‘Temamos o Senhor, o nosso Deus, aquele que sempre dá as chuvas da primavera e do outono no tempo certo, e ano após ano manda a colheita no tempo certo’.
Y no dijeron en su corazón: Temamos ahora á Jehová Dios nuestro, que da lluvia temprana y tardía en su tiempo; los tiempos establecidos de la siega nos guarda.
Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

Por isso, eu vou tirar de suas mãos todas essas bênçãos maravilhosas, por causa dos pecados e maldades que vocês cometeram.

“No meio do meu povo existem homens perversos; cada um anda vigiando o outro, como um caçador escondido espera o animal chegar. Eles preparam armadilhas para apanhar o outro.
Porque fueron hallados en mi pueblo impíos; acechaban como quien pone lazos; pusieron trampa para tomar hombres.
For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

Como um viveiro cheio de pássaros, as suas casas estão cheias de planos maldosos. E assim eles se tornaram ricos e poderosos,
Como jaula llena de pájaros, así están sus casas llenas de engaño: así se hicieron grandes y ricos.

bem alimentados e sadios. Mas a sua maldade vai além dos limites; não cuidam dos órfãos, não dão importância aos sofrimentos dos pobres, não se incomodam em fazer justiça.

Seria possível fechar os meus olhos diante de todo esse pecado?”, pergunta o Senhor. “Seria justo deixar de castigar essa nação tão má?
¿No tengo de visitar sobre esto? dice Jehová; ¿y de tal gente no se vengará mi alma?
Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

Está acontecendo uma coisa horrível, difícil de acreditar, nesta terra:
Cosa espantosa y fea es hecha en la tierra:
A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

Os profetas não falam a verdade, e, apoiados por eles, os sacerdotes enganam o povo com a sua própria autoridade, e o meu povo fica feliz com isso! Mas o que vocês vão fazer quando toda essa situação chegar ao fim?
Los profetas profetizaron mentira, y los sacerdotes dirigían por manos de ellos; y mi pueblo así lo quiso. ¿Qué pues haréis á su fin?
