O Eternel, tes yeux peuvent-ils supporter autre chose que la vérité? Tu les as frappés, et ils ne se sentent pas atteints; tu les as ruinés, ils refusent d'accepter la leçon ils se font un visage plus dur que le roc, ils ne veulent pas se convertir.
Oh Jehová, ¿no miran tus ojos á la verdad? Azotástelos, y no les dolió; consumístelos, y no quisieron recibir corrección; endurecieron sus rostros más que la piedra, no quisieron tornarse.

Pour quelle raison te pardonnerais-je? Tes fils m'abandonnent, ils jurent par des dieux qui n'en sont pas; je les ai comblés de bien et ils trahissent leur foi, ils se rendent en foule aux mauvais lieux.

And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
It will happen when you say, ‘Why has the LORD our God done all these things to us?’ Then you shall say to them, ‘Just as you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’

Ecoutez donc ceci, peuple dénué d'intelligence et de coeur, vous qui avez des yeux pour ne pas voir, des oreilles pour ne pas entendre!
Oid ahora esto, pueblo necio y sin corazón, que tienen ojos y no ven, que tienen oídos y no oyen:

Est-ce bien moi que vous ne vénérez pas, dit l'Eternel, est-ce bien moi devant qui vous refusez de trembler, moi qui ai donné le sable comme limite à la mer, comme une barrière éternelle qu'elle ne peut franchir? Ses flots se soulèvent, impuissants, ils mugissent, mais ne vont pas au delà.
¿A mí no temeréis? dice Jehová; ¿no os amedrentaréis á mi presencia, que al mar por ordenación eterna, la cual no quebrantará, puse arena por término? Se levantarán tempestades, mas no prevalecerán; bramarán sus ondas, mas no lo pasarán.
Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

Y no dijeron en su corazón: Temamos ahora á Jehová Dios nuestro, que da lluvia temprana y tardía en su tiempo; los tiempos establecidos de la siega nos guarda.
Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

Ce sont vos fautes qui ont dérangé le cours de ces lois, vos péchés qui vous ont privés de ces bienfaits,
Vuestras iniquidades han estorbado estas cosas; y vuestros pecados apartaron de vosotros el bien.

Porque fueron hallados en mi pueblo impíos; acechaban como quien pone lazos; pusieron trampa para tomar hombres.
For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

Comme une cage remplie d'oiseaux, leurs demeures sont remplies de fraude; aussi sont-ils prospères et opulents.

II s'est passé des choses stupéfiantes et pleines d'horreur dans ce pays:

les prophètes font prédication de mensonges, les prêtres, forts de leur appui, exercent leur domination, et mon peuple aime cela! Mais que ferez-vous quand viendra la fin?
