Doch ich weift, daß du mich allezeit horest, sondern um des Volks willen, das umherstehet, sage ich's, daß sie glauben, du habest mich gesandt.

Que yo sabía que siempre me oyes; mas por causa de la compañía que está alrededor, lo dije, para que crean que tú me has enviado.

And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

I know that you always listen to me, but because of the multitude standing around I said this, that they may believe that you sent me.”
