Ich aber wusste, dass du mich allezeit erhörst; doch um der Volksmenge willen, die umhersteht, habe ich es gesagt, damit sie glauben, dass du mich gesandt hast.

Que yo sabía que siempre me oyes; mas por causa de la compañía que está alrededor, lo dije, para que crean que tú me has enviado.

And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

I know that you always listen to me, but because of the multitude standing around I said this, that they may believe that you sent me.”
