Or egli diceva questo, non perchè si curasse de' poveri, ma perciocchè era ladro, ed avea la borsa, e portava ciò che vi si metteva dentro.

Mas dijo esto, no por el cuidado que él tenía de los pobres; sino porque era ladrón, y tenía la bolsa, y traía lo que se echaba en ella.

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.
