Und ich sage euch nun: Ein neu Gebot gebe ich euch, daß ihr euch untereinander liebet, wie ich euch geliebet habe, auf daß auch ihr einander lieb habet.

Mas ninguno de los que estaban á la mesa entendió á qué propósito le dijo esto.

Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.

Now nobody at the table knew why he said this to him.
