Entonces Pilato tomó a Jesús y lo azotó con cuerdas.

ASÍ que, entonces tomó Pilato á Jesús, y le azotó.

Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

So Pilate then took Jesus and flogged him.

Y los hombres del ejército hicieron una corona de espinas y se la pusieron sobre su cabeza, y le pusieron una túnica púrpura.

Y los soldados entretejieron de espinas una corona, y pusiéronla sobre su cabeza, y le vistieron de una ropa de grana;

And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,

The soldiers twisted thorns into a crown and put it on his head, and dressed him in a purple garment.

Y siguieron viniendo y diciendo: ¡Larga vida al Rey de los Judíos! Y ellos le dieron golpes con sus manos.

Y decían: ¡Salve, Rey de los Judíos! y dábanle de bofetadas.

And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

They kept saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and they kept slapping him.

Y salió Pilato de nuevo, y les dijo: Mira, dejo que venga a ustedes para aclararles que no veo mal en él.

Entonces Pilato salió otra vez fuera, y díjoles: He aquí, os le traigo fuera, para que entendáis que ningún crimen hallo en él.

Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.

Then Pilate went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I bring him out to you, that you may know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”

Entonces salió Jesús con la corona de espinas y la túnica púrpura. Y Pilato les dijo: ¡Aquí está el hombre!

Y salió Jesús fuera, llevando la corona de espinas y la ropa de grana. Y díceles Pilato: He aquí el hombre.

Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

Jesus therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. Pilate said to them, “Behold, the man!”

Entonces, cuando los principales sacerdotes y la policía lo vieron, lanzaron un gran clamor: ¡A la cruz! a la cruz! Pilato les dijo: llévenselo ustedes mismos y pónganlo en la cruz: no veo ningún crimen en él.

Y como le vieron los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los servidores, dieron voces diciendo: Crucifícale, crucifícale. Díceles Pilato: Tomadle vosotros, y crucificadle; porque yo no hallo en él crimen.

When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him, they shouted, saying, “Crucify! Crucify!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no basis for a charge against him.”

Y los judíos respondieron: Nosotros tenemos una ley, y por esa ley es correcto que él sea ejecutado porque dijo que era el Hijo de Dios.

Respondiéronle los Judíos: Nosotros tenemos ley, y según nuestra ley debe morir, porque se hizo Hijo de Dios.

The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.”

Cuando llegó esta palabra a los oídos de Pilato, su temor aumentó;

Y como Pilato oyó esta palabra, tuvo más miedo.

When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;

When therefore Pilate heard this saying, he was more afraid.

Y volvió al pretorio y dijo a Jesús: ¿De dónde vienes? Pero Jesús no le dio respuesta.

Y entró otra vez en el pretorio, y dijo á Jesús: ¿De dónde eres tú? Mas Jesús no le dió respuesta.

And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

Entonces Pilato le dijo: ¿No me dices nada? ¿No está claro para ti que tengo poder para dejarte ir y poder para matarte en la cruz?

Entonces dícele Pilato: ¿A mí no me hablas? ¿no sabes que tengo potestad para crucificarte, y que tengo potestad para soltarte?

Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

Pilate therefore said to him, “Aren’t you speaking to me? Don’t you know that I have power to release you and have power to crucify you?”

Jesús dio esta respuesta: no tendrías ningún poder sobre mí si Dios no te lo hubiera dado; de modo que el que me entrego a ti tiene el mayor pecado.

Respondió Jesús: Ninguna potestad tendrías contra mí, si no te fuese dado de arriba: por tanto, el que á ti me ha entregado, mayor pecado tiene.

Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

Jesus answered, “You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me to you has greater sin.”

Al oír esto, Pilato tuvo el deseo de dejarlo ir, pero los judíos dijeron en voz alta: Si dejas ir a este hombre, no eres amigo del César; todo el que se hace rey va contra César.

Desde entonces procuraba Pilato soltarle; mas los Judíos daban voces, diciendo: Si á éste sueltas, no eres amigo de César: cualquiera que se hace rey, á César contradice.

And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Cæsar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Cæsar.

At this, Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you release this man, you aren’t Caesar’s friend! Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar!”

Entonces, cuando estas palabras llegaron a oídos de Pilato, él sacó a Jesús, sentándose en el asiento del juez en un lugar llamado en hebreo, Gabata o el Piso de Piedra.

Entonces Pilato, oyendo este dicho, llevó fuera á Jesús, y se sentó en el tribunal en el lugar que se dice Lithóstrotos, y en hebreo Gabbatha.

When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.

When Pilate therefore heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called “The Pavement”, but in Hebrew, “Gabbatha.”

Fue el día en que se prepararon para la Pascua, y era como la hora sexta. Y dijo a los judíos: ¡Allí está su Rey!

Y era la víspera de la Pascua, y como la hora de sexta. Entonces dijo á los Judíos: He aquí vuestro Rey.

And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, at about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!”

Entonces lanzaron un gran clamor: ¡Fuera con él! Fuera con él! a la cruz! Pilato les dijo: ¿Debo matar a su Rey en la cruz? Los principales sacerdotes dijeron en respuesta: No tenemos más rey que César.

Mas ellos dieron voces: Quita, quita, crucifícale. Díceles Pilato: ¿A vuestro Rey he de crucificar? Respondieron los pontífices: No tenemos rey sino á César.

But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Cæsar.

They cried out, “Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”

Entonces él lo entregó a ellos para que lo mataran en la cruz. Y ellos se llevaron a Jesús;

Así que entonces lo entregó á ellos para que fuese crucificado. Y tomaron á Jesús, y le llevaron.

Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

So then he delivered him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led him away.

Y él salió con su cruz sobre él al lugar que se llama Lugar de las calaveras (en hebreo, Gólgota):

Y llevando su cruz, salió al lugar que se dice de la Calavera, y en hebreo, Gólgotha;

And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

He went out, bearing his cross, to the place called “The Place of a Skull”, which is called in Hebrew, “Golgotha”,

donde lo pusieron en la cruz con otros dos, uno a la derecha y el otro a la izquierda, y Jesús en medio.

Donde le crucificaron, y con él otros dos, uno á cada lado, y Jesús en medio.

Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

Y Pilato puso en la cruz una declaración por escrito. La escritura era: JESÚS EL NAZARENO, EL REY DE LOS JUDÍOS.

Y escribió también Pilato un título, que puso encima de la cruz. Y el escrito era: JESUS NAZARENO, REY DE LOS JUDIOS.

And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. There was written, “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

La escritura fue vista por varios judíos, porque el lugar donde Jesús fue muerto en la cruz estaba cerca de la ciudad; y la escritura estaba en hebreo y latín y griego.

Y muchos de los Judíos leyeron este título: porque el lugar donde estaba crucificado Jesús era cerca de la ciudad: y estaba escrito en hebreo, en griego, y en latín.

This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.

Therefore many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.

Entonces los principales sacerdotes de los judíos dijeron a Pilato: No pongas, rey de los judíos, sino que dijo: Yo soy el Rey de los judíos.

Y decían á Pilato los pontífices de los Judíos: No escribas, Rey de los Judíos: sino, que él dijo: Rey soy de los Judíos.

Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.

The chief priests of the Jews therefore said to Pilate, “Don’t write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘he said, “I am King of the Jews.”’”

Pero Pilato respondió: Lo que he puesto por escrito no cambiará.

Respondió Pilato: Lo que he escrito, he escrito.

Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

Y cuando Jesús fue clavado en la cruz, los hombres del ejército tomaron sus vestidos, y lo dividieron en cuatro partes, cada uno por persona, y tomaron su túnica: ahora la túnica estaba sin una unión, hecho de un pedazo de tela.

Y como los soldados hubieron crucificado á Jesús, tomaron sus vestidos, é hicieron cuatro partes (para cada soldado una parte); y la túnica; mas la túnica era sin costura, toda tejida desde arriba.

Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

Entonces dijeron entre sí: No se corte esto, pero echemos a suerte y veamos quién la recibe. (Hicieron esto para que las Escrituras se hicieran realidad, que dicen: hicieron una distribución de mis ropas entre ellos, y mi túnica la echaron a suerte.) Esto fue lo que hicieron los hombres del ejército.

Y dijeron entre ellos: No la partamos, sino echemos suertes sobre ella, de quién será; para que se cumpliese la Escritura, que dice: Partieron para sí mis vestidos, y sobre mi vestidura echaron suertes. Y los soldados hicieron esto.

They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

Then they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says, “They parted my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing.” Therefore the soldiers did these things.

Y al lado de la cruz de Jesús estaban su madre, y la hermana de su madre, María, mujer de Cleofás, y María Magdalena.

Y estaban junto á la cruz de Jesús su madre, y la hermana de su madre, María mujer de Cleofas, y María Magdalena.

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

But standing by Jesus’ cross were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

Entonces, cuando Jesús vio a su madre y al discípulo que le era querido, dijo a su madre: ¡Madre, allí está tu hijo!

Y como vió Jesús á la madre, y al discípulo que él amaba, que estaba presente, dice á su madre: Mujer, he ahí tu hijo.

When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

Therefore when Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!”

Entonces dijo al discípulo: ¡Allí está tu madre! Y a partir de esa hora, el discípulo la llevó a su casa.

Después dice al discípulo: He ahí tu madre. Y desde aquella hora el discípulo la recibió consigo.

Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour, the disciple took her to his own home.

Después de esto, conscientes de que todo había sido hecho para que las Escrituras se volvieran realidad, Jesús dijo: Dame agua.

Después de esto, sabiendo Jesús que todas las cosas eran ya cumplidas, para que la Escritura se cumpliese, dijo: Sed tengo.

After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

After this, Jesus, seeing that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I am thirsty!”

Había una vasija preparada, llena de vino amargo, y pusieron una esponja llena de vinagre en una vara y se la llevaron a la boca.

Y estaba allí un vaso lleno de vinagre: entonces ellos hinchieron una esponja de vinagre, y rodeada á un hisopo, se la llegaron á la boca.

Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop, and held it at his mouth.

Y cuando Jesús hubo tomado el vino, dijo: Consumado es. Y con la cabeza inclinada, y murió.

Y como Jesús tomó el vinagre, dijo: Consumado es. Y habiendo inclinado la cabeza, dió el espíritu.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Ahora era el día de prepararse para la Pascua, y para que los cuerpos no estuvieran en la cruz en el día de reposo porque el día de ese sábado era un gran día, los judíos pidieron a Pilato que les quebraran las piernas y se los llevaran.

Entonces los Judíos, por cuanto era la víspera de la Pascua, para que los cuerpos no quedasen en la cruz en el sábado, pues era el gran día del sábado, rogaron á Pilato que se les quebrasen las piernas, y fuesen quitados.

The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies wouldn’t remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.

Entonces vinieron los hombres del ejército, y las piernas del primero fueron quebradas y luego del otro que fue muerto en la cruz con Jesús.

Y vinieron los soldados, y quebraron las piernas al primero, y asimismo al otro que había sido crucificado con él.

Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.

Therefore the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with him;

Pero cuando vinieron a Jesús, vieron que ya estaba muerto en este momento, por eso no le quebraron las piernas;

Mas cuando vinieron á Jesús, como le vieron ya muerto, no le quebraron las piernas:

But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

but when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they didn’t break his legs.

Pero uno de los hombres le hizo una herida en el costado con una lanza, y enseguida salió sangre y agua.

Empero uno de los soldados le abrió el costado con una lanza, y luego salió sangre y agua.

But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

However, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

Y el que lo vio dio testimonio y su testimonio es verdadero, está seguro de que lo que dice es verdadero para que ustedes también crean.

Y el que lo vió, da testimonio, y su testimonio es verdadero: y él sabe que dice verdad, para que vosotros también creáis.

And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.

Estas cosas sucedieron para que las Escrituras sean verdaderas, Ningún hueso de su cuerpo se romperá.

Porque estas cosas fueron hechas para que se cumpliese la Escritura: Hueso no quebrantaréis de él.

For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

For these things happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled, “A bone of him will not be broken.”

Y nuevamente, otro versículo dice: “Verán al que fue herido por sus lanzas”.

Y también otra Escritura dice: Mirarán al que traspasaron.

And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

Again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom they pierced.”

Después de estas cosas, José de Arimatea, que era discípulo de Jesús, pero en secreto por temor a los judíos, le pidió a Pilato que le permitiera llevarse el cuerpo de Jesús, y Pilato le dijo que lo hiciera. Entonces fue y se llevó su cuerpo.

Después de estas cosas, José de Arimatea, el cual era discípulo de Jesús, mas secreto por miedo de los Judíos, rogó á Pilato que pudiera quitar el cuerpo de Jesús: y permitióselo Pilato. Entonces vino, y quitó el cuerpo de Jesús.

And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.

Y vino Nicodemo el que había venido primero a Jesús de noche con un rollo de mirra y áloes mezclados, como cien libras.

Y vino también Nicodemo, el que antes había venido á Jesús de noche, trayendo un compuesto de mirra y de áloes, como cien libras.

And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.

Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds.

Entonces tomaron el cuerpo de Jesús, y lo cubrieron de lino con especias aromáticas, como es el la tradición de los judíos cuando ponen a los muertos a descansar.

Tomaron pues el cuerpo de Jesús, y envolviéronlo en lienzos con especias, como es costumbre de los Judíos sepultar.

Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

So they took Jesus’ body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.

Ahora había un jardín cerca de la cruz, y en el jardín un lugar nuevo para los muertos en el que nunca nadie había sido puesto.

Y en aquel lugar donde había sido crucificado, había un huerto; y en el huerto un sepulcro nuevo, en el cual aun no había sido puesto ninguno.

Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden was a new tomb in which no man had ever yet been laid.

Entonces pusieron a Jesús allí, porque era el día de los judíos para alistarse para la Pascua, y el lugar de la tumba estaba cerca.

Allí, pues, por causa de la víspera de la Pascua de los Judíos, porque aquel sepulcro estaba cerca, pusieron á Jesús.

There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

Then, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day (for the tomb was near at hand), they laid Jesus there.
