Entonces Pilato tomó a Jesús y mandó que lo azotaran.

ASÍ que, entonces tomó Pilato á Jesús, y le azotó.

Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

So Pilate then took Jesus and flogged him.

Los soldados hicieron una corona de espinas, se la pusieron a Jesús en la cabeza y también le pusieron un manto de color rojo oscuro.

Y los soldados entretejieron de espinas una corona, y pusiéronla sobre su cabeza, y le vistieron de una ropa de grana;

And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,

The soldiers twisted thorns into a crown and put it on his head, and dressed him in a purple garment.

Mientras se acercaban a pegarle en la cara, le gritaban: ―¡Viva el rey de los judíos!

Y decían: ¡Salve, Rey de los Judíos! y dábanle de bofetadas.

And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

They kept saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and they kept slapping him.

Pilato volvió a salir y les dijo a los judíos: ―Aquí está. Lo saqué para que sepan que no creo que sea culpable de nada.

Entonces Pilato salió otra vez fuera, y díjoles: He aquí, os le traigo fuera, para que entendáis que ningún crimen hallo en él.

Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.

Then Pilate went out again, and said to them, “Behold, I bring him out to you, that you may know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”

Cuando sacaron a Jesús, llevaba puestos la corona de espinas y el manto de color rojo. Pilato les dijo: ―¡Aquí está el hombre!

Y salió Jesús fuera, llevando la corona de espinas y la ropa de grana. Y díceles Pilato: He aquí el hombre.

Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

Jesus therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. Pilate said to them, “Behold, the man!”

Al verlo, los jefes de los sacerdotes y los guardias gritaron: ―¡Crucifícalo! ¡Crucifícalo! Pilato les respondió: ―Llévenselo y crucifíquenlo ustedes. Yo no creo que sea culpable de nada.

Y como le vieron los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los servidores, dieron voces diciendo: Crucifícale, crucifícale. Díceles Pilato: Tomadle vosotros, y crucificadle; porque yo no hallo en él crimen.

When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him, they shouted, saying, “Crucify! Crucify!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no basis for a charge against him.”

Los judíos le dijeron: ―Nosotros tenemos una ley, y según esa ley tiene que morir, pues se ha hecho pasar por el Hijo de Dios.

Respondiéronle los Judíos: Nosotros tenemos ley, y según nuestra ley debe morir, porque se hizo Hijo de Dios.

The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.”

Cuando Pilato oyó esto, sintió miedo.

Y como Pilato oyó esta palabra, tuvo más miedo.

When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;

When therefore Pilate heard this saying, he was more afraid.

Entró una vez más en el palacio y le preguntó a Jesús: ―¿De dónde eres tú? Pero Jesús no le respondió.

Y entró otra vez en el pretorio, y dijo á Jesús: ¿De dónde eres tú? Mas Jesús no le dió respuesta.

And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.

He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

Pilato le dijo: ―¿No me vas a hablar? ¿No te das cuenta de que tengo poder para ponerte en libertad o para mandar que te crucifiquen?

Entonces dícele Pilato: ¿A mí no me hablas? ¿no sabes que tengo potestad para crucificarte, y que tengo potestad para soltarte?

Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

Pilate therefore said to him, “Aren’t you speaking to me? Don’t you know that I have power to release you and have power to crucify you?”

Jesús le contestó: ―No tendrías ningún poder sobre mí si no se te hubiera dado de arriba. Por eso el que me entregó a ti, es culpable de un pecado más grande.

Respondió Jesús: Ninguna potestad tendrías contra mí, si no te fuese dado de arriba: por tanto, el que á ti me ha entregado, mayor pecado tiene.

Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

Jesus answered, “You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me to you has greater sin.”

Desde ese momento Pilato trató de poner en libertad a Jesús, pero los judíos gritaban: ―Si dejas en libertad a ese hombre, no eres amigo del emperador. Cualquiera que quiera ser rey, es enemigo del emperador.

Desde entonces procuraba Pilato soltarle; mas los Judíos daban voces, diciendo: Si á éste sueltas, no eres amigo de César: cualquiera que se hace rey, á César contradice.

And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Cæsar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Cæsar.

At this, Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you release this man, you aren’t Caesar’s friend! Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar!”

Al oír esto, Pilato llevó afuera a Jesús y se sentó en el tribunal, en un lugar llamado Gabatá que en arameo significa el Empedrado.

Entonces Pilato, oyendo este dicho, llevó fuera á Jesús, y se sentó en el tribunal en el lugar que se dice Lithóstrotos, y en hebreo Gabbatha.

When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.

When Pilate therefore heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called “The Pavement”, but in Hebrew, “Gabbatha.”

Era cerca del mediodía, un día antes de la Pascua. Pilato les dijo a los judíos: ―Aquí tienen a su rey.

Y era la víspera de la Pascua, y como la hora de sexta. Entonces dijo á los Judíos: He aquí vuestro Rey.

And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, at about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!”

Ellos gritaron: ―¡Fuera! ¡Fuera! ¡Crucifícalo! Pilato les respondió: ―¿Creen que voy a crucificar a su rey? Los jefes de los sacerdotes contestaron: ―Nuestro único rey es el emperador romano.

Mas ellos dieron voces: Quita, quita, crucifícale. Díceles Pilato: ¿A vuestro Rey he de crucificar? Respondieron los pontífices: No tenemos rey sino á César.

But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Cæsar.

They cried out, “Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”

Entonces Pilato se lo entregó para que lo crucificaran, y los soldados se lo llevaron.

Así que entonces lo entregó á ellos para que fuese crucificado. Y tomaron á Jesús, y le llevaron.

Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

So then he delivered him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led him away.

Jesús salió cargando su propia cruz, iba hacia el Gólgota, que en arameo significa de la Calavera.

Y llevando su cruz, salió al lugar que se dice de la Calavera, y en hebreo, Gólgotha;

And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

He went out, bearing his cross, to the place called “The Place of a Skull”, which is called in Hebrew, “Golgotha”,

Allí lo crucificaron junto a otros dos, uno a cada lado, y Jesús en medio.

Donde le crucificaron, y con él otros dos, uno á cada lado, y Jesús en medio.

Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

Pilato mandó que pusieran un letrero sobre la cruz. En este estaba escrito: «jesús de nazaret, rey de los judíos».

Y escribió también Pilato un título, que puso encima de la cruz. Y el escrito era: JESUS NAZARENO, REY DE LOS JUDIOS.

And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. There was written, “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

Muchos de los judíos lo leyeron, porque el lugar donde crucificaron a Jesús estaba cerca de la ciudad. El letrero estaba escrito en arameo, latín y griego.

Y muchos de los Judíos leyeron este título: porque el lugar donde estaba crucificado Jesús era cerca de la ciudad: y estaba escrito en hebreo, en griego, y en latín.

This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.

Therefore many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.

Los jefes de los sacerdotes judíos le dijeron a Pilato: ―No escribas “Rey de los judíos”, sino “Él dice que es rey de los judíos”.

Y decían á Pilato los pontífices de los Judíos: No escribas, Rey de los Judíos: sino, que él dijo: Rey soy de los Judíos.

Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.

The chief priests of the Jews therefore said to Pilate, “Don’t write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘he said, “I am King of the Jews.”’”

Pilato les respondió: ―Lo que he escrito, escrito se queda.

Respondió Pilato: Lo que he escrito, he escrito.

Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

Después de que los soldados crucificaron a Jesús, tomaron su manto y lo partieron en cuatro pedazos, uno para cada uno de ellos. Tomaron también su túnica, que era de una sola pieza, sin costura, tejida de arriba abajo.

Y como los soldados hubieron crucificado á Jesús, tomaron sus vestidos, é hicieron cuatro partes (para cada soldado una parte); y la túnica; mas la túnica era sin costura, toda tejida desde arriba.

Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

Los soldados se dijeron unos a otros: ―No la dividamos. Mejor echemos suertes para ver a quién le toca. Y así lo hicieron, y de esta forma se cumplió la Escritura que dice: «Se repartieron mi manto, y sobre mi túnica echaron suertes».

Y dijeron entre ellos: No la partamos, sino echemos suertes sobre ella, de quién será; para que se cumpliese la Escritura, que dice: Partieron para sí mis vestidos, y sobre mi vestidura echaron suertes. Y los soldados hicieron esto.

They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

Then they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says, “They parted my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing.” Therefore the soldiers did these things.

Junto a la cruz de Jesús estaban su madre, la hermana de su madre, María la esposa de Cleofas, y María Magdalena.

Y estaban junto á la cruz de Jesús su madre, y la hermana de su madre, María mujer de Cleofas, y María Magdalena.

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

But standing by Jesus’ cross were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

Cuando Jesús vio a su madre, y junto a ella al discípulo a quien él quería mucho, dijo a su madre: ―Mujer, ahí tienes a tu hijo.

Y como vió Jesús á la madre, y al discípulo que él amaba, que estaba presente, dice á su madre: Mujer, he ahí tu hijo.

When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

Therefore when Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!”

Luego, le dijo al discípulo: ―Ahí tienes a tu madre. Desde ese momento, ese discípulo la recibió en su casa.

Después dice al discípulo: He ahí tu madre. Y desde aquella hora el discípulo la recibió consigo.

Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour, the disciple took her to his own home.

Después de esto, como Jesús sabía que ya todo había terminado, y para que se cumpliera la Escritura, dijo: ―Tengo sed.

Después de esto, sabiendo Jesús que todas las cosas eran ya cumplidas, para que la Escritura se cumpliese, dijo: Sed tengo.

After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

After this, Jesus, seeing that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I am thirsty!”

Había allí un jarro lleno de vinagre; así que empaparon una esponja en el vinagre, la pusieron en una caña y se la acercaron a la boca.

Y estaba allí un vaso lleno de vinagre: entonces ellos hinchieron una esponja de vinagre, y rodeada á un hisopo, se la llegaron á la boca.

Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop, and held it at his mouth.

Al probar Jesús el vinagre, dijo: ―Todo está cumplido. Luego inclinó la cabeza y entregó el espíritu.

Y como Jesús tomó el vinagre, dijo: Consumado es. Y habiendo inclinado la cabeza, dió el espíritu.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Era un día antes de la Pascua. Los judíos no querían que los cuerpos siguieran colgados en la cruz en sábado, porque este era un día muy solemne. Por eso le pidieron a Pilato ordenar que les quebraran las piernas a los crucificados y bajaran sus cuerpos.

Entonces los Judíos, por cuanto era la víspera de la Pascua, para que los cuerpos no quedasen en la cruz en el sábado, pues era el gran día del sábado, rogaron á Pilato que se les quebrasen las piernas, y fuesen quitados.

The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies wouldn’t remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.

Los soldados fueron y le quebraron las piernas al primer hombre que habían crucificado con Jesús, y luego al otro.

Y vinieron los soldados, y quebraron las piernas al primero, y asimismo al otro que había sido crucificado con él.

Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.

Therefore the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with him;

Y cuando se acercaron a Jesús, se dieron cuenta de que ya estaba muerto, por eso no le quebraron las piernas.

Mas cuando vinieron á Jesús, como le vieron ya muerto, no le quebraron las piernas:

But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:

but when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they didn’t break his legs.

Pero uno de los soldados le atravesó el costado con una lanza, y en ese momento le salió sangre y agua.

Empero uno de los soldados le abrió el costado con una lanza, y luego salió sangre y agua.

But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

However, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

El que dice esto es el que lo vio, y lo que dice es verdad. Él sabe que dice la verdad, para que también ustedes crean.

Y el que lo vió, da testimonio, y su testimonio es verdadero: y él sabe que dice verdad, para que vosotros también creáis.

And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.

Estas cosas sucedieron para que se cumpliera la Escritura: «No le quebraron ningún hueso»

Porque estas cosas fueron hechas para que se cumpliese la Escritura: Hueso no quebrantaréis de él.

For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

For these things happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled, “A bone of him will not be broken.”

y, como dice en otra parte de la Escritura: «Mirarán al que traspasaron».

Y también otra Escritura dice: Mirarán al que traspasaron.

And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

Again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom they pierced.”

Después de esto, José de Arimatea le pidió a Pilato el cuerpo de Jesús. José era discípulo de Jesús, aunque en secreto porque le tenía miedo a los judíos. Pilato le dio permiso y él se llevó el cuerpo.

Después de estas cosas, José de Arimatea, el cual era discípulo de Jesús, mas secreto por miedo de los Judíos, rogó á Pilato que pudiera quitar el cuerpo de Jesús: y permitióselo Pilato. Entonces vino, y quitó el cuerpo de Jesús.

And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus’ body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.

También Nicodemo, el que había visitado a Jesús de noche, llegó con unos treinta y cuatro kilos de una mezcla de mirra y áloe.

Y vino también Nicodemo, el que antes había venido á Jesús de noche, trayendo un compuesto de mirra y de áloes, como cien libras.

And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.

Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds.

Entre los dos envolvieron el cuerpo de Jesús con vendas empapadas en las especias aromáticas. Así era la costumbre judía de sepultar a los muertos.

Tomaron pues el cuerpo de Jesús, y envolviéronlo en lienzos con especias, como es costumbre de los Judíos sepultar.

Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

So they took Jesus’ body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.

En el lugar donde crucificaron a Jesús había un huerto, y en el huerto un sepulcro nuevo en el que todavía no habían sepultado a nadie.

Y en aquel lugar donde había sido crucificado, había un huerto; y en el huerto un sepulcro nuevo, en el cual aun no había sido puesto ninguno.

Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.

Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden was a new tomb in which no man had ever yet been laid.

Como estaba por empezar el sábado, y el sepulcro estaba cerca, pusieron allí a Jesús.

Allí, pues, por causa de la víspera de la Pascua de los Judíos, porque aquel sepulcro estaba cerca, pusieron á Jesús.

There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

Then, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day (for the tomb was near at hand), they laid Jesus there.
