Desde el principio él era la Palabra, y la Palabra estaba con Dios y era Dios.

Lo que comenzó a existir en él fue la vida, y la vida fue la luz de los hombres.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Y la luz sigue brillando en la oscuridad y no es vencida por la oscuridad.

Y la luz en las tinieblas resplandece; mas las tinieblas no la comprendieron.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Hubo un hombre enviado por Dios, cuyo nombre era Juan.

Él vino para dar testimonio, para dar testimonio acerca de la luz, para que todos los hombres tuvieran fe a través de él.

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.

Él mismo no era la luz: fue enviado a dar testimonio de la luz.

He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

La verdadera luz, que ilumina a cada hombre, estaba entrando en el mundo.

Aquél era la luz verdadera, que alumbra á todo hombre que viene á este mundo.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

Él estaba en el mundo, el mundo que surgió a través de él, pero el mundo no tenía conocimiento de él.

En el mundo estaba, y el mundo fué hecho por él; y el mundo no le conoció.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn’t recognize him.

Llegó a las cosas que eran suyas y su gente no lo recibió.

A lo suyo vino, y los suyos no le recibieron.

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.

Sin embargo, a todos los que lo recibieron, se les dio el derecho de convertirse en hijos de Dios, es decir, a los que tenían fe en su nombre:

Mas á todos los que le recibieron, dióles potestad de ser hechos hijos de Dios, á los que creen en su nombre:

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Cuyo nacimiento era de Dios y no de sangre, o de un impulso de la carne y el deseo del hombre.

Los cuales no son engendrados de sangre, ni de voluntad de carne, ni de voluntad de varón, mas de Dios.

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Y el Verbo se hizo carne y tomó un lugar entre nosotros por un tiempo; y vimos su gloria, la gloria que él Padre le dio a su único hijo, lleno de gracia y verdad.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Juan dio testimonio acerca de él, y exclamó: Este es aquel de quien dije: “El que viene detrás de mí me ha sido puesto porque él existía antes que yo”.

Juan dió testimonio de él, y clamó diciendo: Este es del que yo decía: El que viene tras mí, es antes de mí: porque es primero que yo.

John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

John testified about him. He cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.’”

De su plenitud todos hemos recibido gracia sobre gracia.

Porque de su plenitud tomamos todos, y gracia por gracia.

And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.

Porque la ley fue dada por medio de Moisés; la gracia y el verdadero modo de vida son nuestros a través de Jesucristo.

Porque la ley por Moisés fué dada: mas la gracia y la verdad por Jesucristo fué hecha.

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

Ningún hombre ha visto a Dios en ningún momento; el único Hijo, que está en íntima relación con el Padre, ha dejado en claro qué es Dios.

A Dios nadie le vió jamás: el unigénito Hijo, que está en el seno del Padre, él le declaró.

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

No one has seen God at any time. The only born Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him.

Y este es el testimonio de Juan cuando los judíos enviaron sacerdotes y levitas de Jerusalén a él con la pregunta: ¿Quién eres tú?

Y éste es el testimonio de Juan, cuando los Judíos enviaron de Jerusalem sacerdotes y Levitas, que le preguntasen: ¿Tú, quién eres?

And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

This is John’s testimony, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”

Dijo abiertamente y sin rodeos, yo no soy el Cristo.

Y confesó, y no negó; mas declaró: No soy yo el Cristo.

And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

He declared, and didn’t deny, but he declared, “I am not the Christ.”

Y ellos le dijeron: ¿Qué, pues? ¿Eres Elías? Y él dijo: no. ¿Eres el profeta? Y su respuesta fue, no.

Y le preguntaron: ¿Qué pues? ¿Eres tú Elías? Dijo: No soy. ¿Eres tú el profeta? Y respondió: No.

And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

They asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” He answered, “No.”

Entonces ellos le dijeron: ¿Quién eres entonces? Tenemos que dar alguna respuesta a quienes nos enviaron. ¿Qué tienes que decir sobre ti?

Dijéronle: ¿Pues quién eres? para que demos respuesta á los que nos enviaron. ¿Qué dices de ti mismo?

Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

They said therefore to him, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”

Él dijo: Yo soy la voz del que clama en el desierto, enderecen el camino del Señor, como dijo el profeta Isaías.

Dijo: Yo soy la voz del que clama en el desierto: Enderezad el camino del Señor, como dijo Isaías profeta.

He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

He said, “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”

Los que habían sido enviados venían de los fariseos.

Y los que habían sido enviados eran de los Fariseos.

And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

The ones who had been sent were from the Pharisees.

Y le hicieron esta pregunta, diciendo: ¿Por qué, pues, estás dando el bautismo si no eres el Cristo, o Elías, o el profeta?

Y preguntáronle, y dijéronle: ¿Por qué pues bautizas, si tú no eres el Cristo, ni Elías, ni el profeta?

And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

They asked him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?”

La respuesta de Juan fue: doy el bautismo con agua; pero hay uno entre ustedes de quien no tienen conocimiento;

Y Juan les respondió, diciendo: Yo bautizo con agua; mas en medio de vosotros ha estado á quien vosotros no conocéis.

John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

John answered them, “I baptize in water, but among you stands one whom you don’t know.

Es él quien viene detrás de mí; No soy digno para desatar la correa de sus sandalias.

Este es el que ha de venir tras mí, el cual es antes de mí: del cual yo no soy digno de desatar la correa del zapato.

He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

He is the one who comes after me, who is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to loosen.”

Estas cosas tuvieron lugar en Betania, al otro lado del Jordán, donde Juan estaba dando el bautismo.

Estas cosas acontecieron en Betábara, de la otra parte del Jordán, donde Juan bautizaba.

These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

Al día siguiente, Juan ve a Jesús acercarse a él y le dice: “Mira, aquí está el Cordero de Dios que quita el pecado del mundo”.

El siguiente día ve Juan á Jesús que venía á él, y dice: He aquí el Cordero de Dios, que quita el pecado del mundo.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Este es aquel de quien dije: Uno viene detrás de mí, quién es puesto sobre mí porque él existía antes que yo.

Este es del que dije: Tras mí viene un varón, el cual es antes de mí: porque era primero que yo.

This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.’

Yo mismo no tenía conocimiento de él, pero vine bautizando con agua para que Israel lo viera abiertamente.

Y yo no le conocía; más para que fuese manifestado á Israel, por eso vine yo bautizando con agua.

And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

I didn’t know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water, that he would be revealed to Israel.”

Juan dio este testimonio, diciendo: Vi al Espíritu que descendía del cielo como una paloma y descansaba sobre él.

Y Juan dió testimonio, diciendo: Vi al Espíritu que descendía del cielo como paloma, y reposó sobre él.

And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

John testified, saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.

No sabía quién era, pero el que me envió a bautizar con agua me dijo: Aquel sobre quien veas descender y descansar al Espíritu, es él quien da el bautismo con el Espíritu Santo.

Y yo no le conocía; mas el que me envió á bautizar con agua, aquél me dijo: Sobre quien vieres descender el Espíritu, y que reposa sobre él, éste es el que bautiza con Espíritu Santo.

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

I didn’t recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘On whomever you will see the Spirit descending and remaining on him is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’

Yo mismo lo he visto y mi testimonio es que él es el Hijo de Dios.

Y yo le vi, y he dado testimonio que éste es el Hijo de Dios.

And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

I have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.”

El día después, Juan estaba allí otra vez con dos de sus discípulos;

El siguiente día otra vez estaba Juan, y dos de sus discípulos.

Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

Y mirando a Jesús mientras caminaba, dijo: ¡Mira, ahí está el Cordero de Dios!

Y mirando á Jesús que andaba por allí, dijo: He aquí el Cordero de Dios.

And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”

Al escuchar lo que dijo, los dos discípulos fueron tras Jesús.

Y oyéronle los dos discípulos hablar, y siguieron á Jesús.

And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

Y Jesús, volviéndose, los vio venir detrás de él y les dijo: ¿Qué estás buscando? Le dijeron a él, Rabino (que es decir, Maestro), ¿dónde estás viviendo?

Y volviéndose Jesús, y viéndolos seguirle, díceles: ¿Qué buscáis? Y ellos le dijeron: Rabbí (que declarado quiere decir Maestro) ¿dónde moras?

Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), “where are you staying?”

Él les dijo: Ven a ver. Entonces fueron con él y vieron dónde vivía; y estuvieron con él todo ese día: era alrededor de la décima hora del día.

Díceles: Venid y ved. Vinieron, y vieron donde moraba, y quedáronse con él aquel día: porque era como la hora de las diez.

He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.

Andrés, el hermano de Simón Pedro, fue uno de los dos hombres que, al oír lo que Juan dijo, fue tras Jesús.

Era Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro, uno de los dos que habían oído de Juan, y le habían seguido.

One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

One of the two who heard John and followed him was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

Temprano en la mañana se encontró con su hermano y le dijo: ¡Hemos hecho un descubrimiento! ¡Es el Mesías! (es decir, el Cristo).

Este halló primero á su hermano Simón, y díjole: Hemos hallado al Mesías (que declarado es, el Cristo).

He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which is, being interpreted, Christ).

Y lo llevó a Jesús. Mirándolo fijamente, Jesús dijo: Tú eres Simón, el hijo de Juan; su nombre será Cefas, (es decir, Pedro).

Y le trajo á Jesús. Y mirándole Jesús, dijo: Tú eres Simón, hijo de Jonás: tú serás llamado Cephas (que quiere decir, Piedra).

And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is by interpretation, Peter).

El día después de esto, Jesús deseaba ir a Galilea. Se encontró con Felipe y le dijo: Ven y sé mi discípulo.

El siguiente día quiso Jesús ir á Galilea, y halla á Felipe, al cual dijo: Sígueme.

The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

On the next day, he was determined to go out into Galilee, and he found Philip. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.”

Ahora la ciudad de Felipe era Betsaida, de donde vinieron Andrés y Pedro.

Y era Felipe de Bethsaida, la ciudad de Andrés y de Pedro.

Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Felipe se encontró con Natanael y le dijo: ¡Hemos hecho un descubrimiento! Es él de quien Moisés, en la ley y los profetas estaban escribiendo, Jesús de Nazaret, el hijo de José.

Felipe halló á Natanael, y dícele: Hemos hallado á aquel de quien escribió Moisés en la ley, y los profetas: á Jesús, el hijo de José, de Nazaret.

Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets, wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

¡Nazaret! dijo Natanael: ¿es posible que algo bueno salga de Nazaret? Felipe le dijo: Ven a ver.

Y díjole Natanael: ¿De Nazaret puede haber algo de bueno? Dícele Felipe: Ven y ve.

And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

Jesús vio a Natanael acercándose a él y le dijo: Mira, aquí hay un verdadero hijo de Israel en quien no hay nada falso.

Jesús vió venir á sí á Natanael, y dijo de él: He aquí un verdadero Israelita, en el cual no hay engaño.

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said about him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”

Natanael le dijo: ¿De dónde me conoces ? En respuesta, Jesús dijo: Antes de que Felipe hablara contigo, mientras aún estabas debajo de la higuera, te vi.

Dícele Natanael: ¿De dónde me conoces? Respondió Jesús, y díjole: Antes que Felipe te llamara, cuando estabas debajo de la higuera te vi.

Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

Natanael le dijo: Rabí, tú eres el Hijo de Dios, tú eres el Rey de Israel.

Respondió Natanael, y díjole: Rabbí, tú eres el Hijo de Dios; tú eres el Rey de Israel.

Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel!”

En respuesta, Jesús le dijo: Tú tienes fe porque yo te dije, te vi debajo de la higuera. Verás cosas más grandiosas que estas.

Respondió Jesús y díjole: ¿Porque te dije, te vi debajo de la higuera, crees? cosas mayores que éstas verás.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

Jesus answered him, “Because I told you, ‘I saw you underneath the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these!”

Y él le dijo: De cierto les digo que verán el cielo abierto y los ángeles de Dios que suben y bajan sobre el Hijo del Hombre.

Y dícele: De cierto, de cierto os digo: De aquí adelante veréis el cielo abierto, y los ángeles de Dios que suben y descienden sobre el Hijo del hombre.

And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

He said to him, “Most certainly, I tell you all, hereafter you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
