1No princípio era o Verbo, e o Verbo estava com Deus, e o Verbo era Deus.
2Ele estava no princípio com Deus.
3Todas as coisas foram feitas por meio dele. Sem ele, nada do que existe veio a existir sem ele.
4Nele estava a vida, e a vida era a luz dos homens.
5A luz brilha nas trevas, e as trevas não a venceram.
6Houve um homem enviado por Deus, cujo nome era João.
7Este veio como testemunha, para que testificasse a respeito da luz, a fim de que todos cressem por meio dele.
8Ele não era a luz, mas foi enviado para que testificasse a respeito da luz.
9A verdadeira luz, que ilumina a todos, estava vindo ao mundo.
10Ele estava no mundo, e o mundo foi feito por meio dele, e o mundo não o reconheceu.
11Ele veio para o que era seu, e os seus não o receberam.
12Mas, a todos quantos o receberam, deu-lhes o poder de se tornarem filhos de Deus, ou seja, aos que creem no seu nome:
13os quais não nasceram do sangue, nem da vontade da carne, nem da vontade do homem, mas de Deus.
14O Verbo se fez carne e armou sua tenda entre nós. Vimos a sua glória, glória como do Filho unigênito do Pai, cheio de graça e de verdade.
15João testificou a respeito dele. Ele clamou, dizendo: “Este era aquele de quem eu disse: ‘Aquele que vem depois de mim me superou, pois já existia antes de mim.’”
16Da sua plenitude todos nós recebemos graça sobre graça.
17Pois a lei foi dada por meio de Moisés. A graça e a verdade vieram por meio de Jesus Cristo.
18Ninguém jamais viu a Deus. O Filho unigênito, que está no seio do Pai, o revelou.
19Este é o testemunho de João, quando os judeus enviaram sacerdotes e levitas de Jerusalém para lhe perguntar: “Quem é você?”
20Ele declarou, e não negou, mas declarou: “Eu não sou o Cristo.”
21Eles lhe perguntaram: “Então, quem? Você é Elias?” Ele disse: “Não sou.” “Você é o profeta?” Ele respondeu: “Não.”
22Disseram-lhe, portanto: “Quem é você? Dê-nos uma resposta para levarmos àqueles que nos enviaram. O que você diz a respeito de si mesmo?”
23Ele disse: “Eu sou a voz do que clama no deserto: ‘Endireitem o caminho do Senhor’, como disse o profeta Isaías.”
24Os que tinham sido enviados eram dos fariseus.
25Eles lhe perguntaram: “Por que então você batiza, se não é o Cristo, nem Elias, nem o profeta?”
26João lhes respondeu: “Eu batizo em água, mas no meio de vocês está alguém que vocês não conhecem.
27Ele é aquele que vem depois de mim, que tem primazia sobre mim, de quem não sou digno de desamarrar a correia da sandália.”
28Essas coisas aconteceram em Betânia, do outro lado do Jordão, onde João estava batizando.
29No dia seguinte, ele viu Jesus vindo em sua direção e disse: “Eis o Cordeiro de Deus, que tira o pecado do mundo!
30Este é aquele de quem eu disse: ‘Depois de mim vem um homem que tem a preferência sobre mim, pois já existia antes de mim.’
31Eu não o conhecia, mas por esta razão vim batizando em água: para que ele fosse revelado a Israel.”
32João testificou, dizendo: “Eu vi o Espírito descer do céu como uma pomba, e permaneceu sobre ele.
33Eu não o reconheci, mas aquele que me enviou a batizar em água me disse: ‘Aquele sobre quem você vir o Espírito descer e permanecer, esse é o que batiza no Espírito Santo.’
34Eu vi e testifiquei que este é o Filho de Deus.”
35Novamente, no dia seguinte, João estava lá com dois dos seus discípulos,
36e, olhando para Jesus, que andava por ali, disse: “Eis o Cordeiro de Deus!”
37Os dois discípulos o ouviram falar e seguiram a Jesus.
38Jesus voltou-se e, vendo que o seguiam, disse-lhes: “O que vocês estão procurando?” Eles lhe disseram: “Rabi” (que, traduzido, quer dizer Mestre), “onde o senhor está hospedado?”
39Ele lhes disse: “Venham e vejam.” Eles foram e viram onde ele estava hospedado, e passaram aquele dia com ele. Era por volta da décima hora.
40Um dos dois que ouviram João e seguiram a Jesus era André, irmão de Simão Pedro.
41Ele primeiro encontrou seu próprio irmão, Simão, e lhe disse: “Achamos o Messias!” (que, traduzido, é Cristo).
42Ele o levou a Jesus. Jesus olhou para ele e disse: “Você é Simão, filho de Jonas. Você será chamado Cefas” (que, traduzido, é Pedro).
43No dia seguinte, ele decidiu partir para a Galileia, e encontrou Filipe. Jesus lhe disse: “Siga-me.”
44Ora, Filipe era de Betsaida, a cidade de André e Pedro.
45Filipe encontrou Natanael e lhe disse: “Achamos aquele sobre quem Moisés escreveu na lei, e também os profetas: Jesus de Nazaré, filho de José.”
46Natanael lhe perguntou: “Pode vir alguma coisa boa de Nazaré?” Filipe lhe disse: “Venha e veja.”
47Jesus viu Natanael vindo em sua direção e disse a respeito dele: “Eis um verdadeiro israelita, em quem não há engano!”
48Natanael lhe perguntou: “Como o senhor me conhece?” Jesus lhe respondeu: “Antes que Filipe o chamasse, quando você estava debaixo da figueira, eu o vi.”
49Natanael lhe respondeu: “Rabi, você é o Filho de Deus! Você é o Rei de Israel!”
50Jesus lhe respondeu: “Você crê porque eu disse: ‘Eu o vi debaixo da figueira’? Você verá coisas maiores do que estas!”
51E lhe disse: “Eu lhes digo com toda a verdade: de agora em diante vocês verão o céu aberto, e os anjos de Deus subindo e descendo sobre o Filho do Homem.”

3Todas las cosas por él fueron hechas; y sin él nada de lo que es hecho, fué hecho.
4En él estaba la vida, y la vida era la luz de los hombres.
5Y la luz en las tinieblas resplandece; mas las tinieblas no la comprendieron.
6Fué un hombre enviado de Dios, el cual se llamaba Juan.
7Este vino por testimonio, para que diese testimonio de la luz, para que todos creyesen por él.
8No era él la luz, sino para que diese testimonio de la luz.
9Aquél era la luz verdadera, que alumbra á todo hombre que viene á este mundo.
10En el mundo estaba, y el mundo fué hecho por él; y el mundo no le conoció.
11A lo suyo vino, y los suyos no le recibieron.
12Mas á todos los que le recibieron, dióles potestad de ser hechos hijos de Dios, á los que creen en su nombre:
13Los cuales no son engendrados de sangre, ni de voluntad de carne, ni de voluntad de varón, mas de Dios.
14Y aquel Verbo fué hecho carne, y habitó entre nosotros (y vimos su gloria, gloria como del unigénito del Padre), lleno de gracia y de verdad.
15Juan dió testimonio de él, y clamó diciendo: Este es del que yo decía: El que viene tras mí, es antes de mí: porque es primero que yo.
16Porque de su plenitud tomamos todos, y gracia por gracia.
17Porque la ley por Moisés fué dada: mas la gracia y la verdad por Jesucristo fué hecha.
18A Dios nadie le vió jamás: el unigénito Hijo, que está en el seno del Padre, él le declaró.
19Y éste es el testimonio de Juan, cuando los Judíos enviaron de Jerusalem sacerdotes y Levitas, que le preguntasen: ¿Tú, quién eres?
20Y confesó, y no negó; mas declaró: No soy yo el Cristo.
21Y le preguntaron: ¿Qué pues? ¿Eres tú Elías? Dijo: No soy. ¿Eres tú el profeta? Y respondió: No.
22Dijéronle: ¿Pues quién eres? para que demos respuesta á los que nos enviaron. ¿Qué dices de ti mismo?
23Dijo: Yo soy la voz del que clama en el desierto: Enderezad el camino del Señor, como dijo Isaías profeta.
24Y los que habían sido enviados eran de los Fariseos.
25Y preguntáronle, y dijéronle: ¿Por qué pues bautizas, si tú no eres el Cristo, ni Elías, ni el profeta?
26Y Juan les respondió, diciendo: Yo bautizo con agua; mas en medio de vosotros ha estado á quien vosotros no conocéis.
27Este es el que ha de venir tras mí, el cual es antes de mí: del cual yo no soy digno de desatar la correa del zapato.
28Estas cosas acontecieron en Betábara, de la otra parte del Jordán, donde Juan bautizaba.
29El siguiente día ve Juan á Jesús que venía á él, y dice: He aquí el Cordero de Dios, que quita el pecado del mundo.
30Este es del que dije: Tras mí viene un varón, el cual es antes de mí: porque era primero que yo.
31Y yo no le conocía; más para que fuese manifestado á Israel, por eso vine yo bautizando con agua.
32Y Juan dió testimonio, diciendo: Vi al Espíritu que descendía del cielo como paloma, y reposó sobre él.
33Y yo no le conocía; mas el que me envió á bautizar con agua, aquél me dijo: Sobre quien vieres descender el Espíritu, y que reposa sobre él, éste es el que bautiza con Espíritu Santo.
34Y yo le vi, y he dado testimonio que éste es el Hijo de Dios.
35El siguiente día otra vez estaba Juan, y dos de sus discípulos.
36Y mirando á Jesús que andaba por allí, dijo: He aquí el Cordero de Dios.
37Y oyéronle los dos discípulos hablar, y siguieron á Jesús.
38Y volviéndose Jesús, y viéndolos seguirle, díceles: ¿Qué buscáis? Y ellos le dijeron: Rabbí (que declarado quiere decir Maestro) ¿dónde moras?
39Díceles: Venid y ved. Vinieron, y vieron donde moraba, y quedáronse con él aquel día: porque era como la hora de las diez.
40Era Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro, uno de los dos que habían oído de Juan, y le habían seguido.
41Este halló primero á su hermano Simón, y díjole: Hemos hallado al Mesías (que declarado es, el Cristo).
42Y le trajo á Jesús. Y mirándole Jesús, dijo: Tú eres Simón, hijo de Jonás: tú serás llamado Cephas (que quiere decir, Piedra).
43El siguiente día quiso Jesús ir á Galilea, y halla á Felipe, al cual dijo: Sígueme.
44Y era Felipe de Bethsaida, la ciudad de Andrés y de Pedro.
45Felipe halló á Natanael, y dícele: Hemos hallado á aquel de quien escribió Moisés en la ley, y los profetas: á Jesús, el hijo de José, de Nazaret.
46Y díjole Natanael: ¿De Nazaret puede haber algo de bueno? Dícele Felipe: Ven y ve.
47Jesús vió venir á sí á Natanael, y dijo de él: He aquí un verdadero Israelita, en el cual no hay engaño.
48Dícele Natanael: ¿De dónde me conoces? Respondió Jesús, y díjole: Antes que Felipe te llamara, cuando estabas debajo de la higuera te vi.
49Respondió Natanael, y díjole: Rabbí, tú eres el Hijo de Dios; tú eres el Rey de Israel.
50Respondió Jesús y díjole: ¿Porque te dije, te vi debajo de la higuera, crees? cosas mayores que éstas verás.
51Y dícele: De cierto, de cierto os digo: De aquí adelante veréis el cielo abierto, y los ángeles de Dios que suben y descienden sobre el Hijo del hombre.

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2The same was in the beginning with God.
3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

21And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
22Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
23He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
24And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
25And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?
26John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
27He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.
28These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
29The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
30This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
31And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
32And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
33And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
34And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
35Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
36And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
37And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
38Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?
39He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.
40One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
41He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
42And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
43The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.
44Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
45Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
46And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
48Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
49Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
50Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
51And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

9The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.
10He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn’t recognize him.
11He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.
12But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name:
13who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

28These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
29The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
30This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.’
31I didn’t know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water, that he would be revealed to Israel.”
32John testified, saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.
33I didn’t recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘On whomever you will see the Spirit descending and remaining on him is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’
34I have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.”
35Again, the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples,
36and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”
37The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
38Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), “where are you staying?”
39He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
40One of the two who heard John and followed him was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
41He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah!” (which is, being interpreted, Christ).
42He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is by interpretation, Peter).
43On the next day, he was determined to go out into Galilee, and he found Philip. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.”
44Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
45Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets, wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
46Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said about him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”
48Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
49Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel!”
50Jesus answered him, “Because I told you, ‘I saw you underneath the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these!”
51He said to him, “Most certainly, I tell you all, hereafter you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
