En el principio era el Verbo y el Verbo estaba en Dios, y el Verbo era Dios.

Hubo un hombre enviado de Dios que se llamaba Juan.

Este vino como testigo, para dar testimonio de la luz, a fin de que por medio de él todos creyesen.

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

El Verbo era la luz verdadera, que cuanto es de sí alumbra a todo hombre que viene a este mundo.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

En el mundo estaba, y el mundo fue por él hecho, y con todo el mundo no le conoció.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

Pero a todos los que le recibieron, que son los que creen en su nombre, les dio poder de llegar a ser hijos de Dios.

Mas á todos los que le recibieron, dióles potestad de ser hechos hijos de Dios, á los que creen en su nombre:

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Los cuales no nacen de la sangre, ni de la voluntad de la carne, ni de querer de hombre, sino que nacen de Dios.

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Y el Verbo se hizo carne; y habitó en medio de nosotros; y nosotros hemos visto su gloria, gloria que el Unigénito debía recibir del Padre, lleno de gracia y de verdad.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

De él da testimonio Juan, y clama diciendo: He aquí aquel de quien yo os decía: El que ha de venir después de mí, ha sido preferido a mí; por cuanto era antes que yo.

Juan dió testimonio de él, y clamó diciendo: Este es del que yo decía: El que viene tras mí, es antes de mí: porque es primero que yo.

John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

John testified about him. He cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.’”

De la plenitud de éste hemos participado todos nosotros, y recibido una gracia por otra gracia.

Porque de su plenitud tomamos todos, y gracia por gracia.

And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.

Porque la ley fue dada por Moisés; mas la gracia y la verdad fue traída por Jesucristo.

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

A Dios nadie le ha visto jamás: El hijo unigénito, existente desde siempre en el seno del Padre, él mismo es quien le ha hecho conocer a los hombres.

A Dios nadie le vió jamás: el unigénito Hijo, que está en el seno del Padre, él le declaró.

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

No one has seen God at any time. The only born Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him.

Y he aquí el testimonio que dio Juan a favor de Jesús , cuando los judíos le enviaron de Jerusalén sacerdotes y levitas para preguntarle: ¿Tú quién eres?

Y éste es el testimonio de Juan, cuando los Judíos enviaron de Jerusalem sacerdotes y Levitas, que le preguntasen: ¿Tú, quién eres?

And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

This is John’s testimony, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”

El confesó la verdad, y no la negó; antes protestó claramente: Yo no soy el Cristo .

Y confesó, y no negó; mas declaró: No soy yo el Cristo.

And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

He declared, and didn’t deny, but he declared, “I am not the Christ.”

¿Pues quién eres?, le dijeron: ¿Eres tú Elías? Y dijo: No lo soy. ¿Eres tú el profeta? Respondió: No.

Y le preguntaron: ¿Qué pues? ¿Eres tú Elías? Dijo: No soy. ¿Eres tú el profeta? Y respondió: No.

And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

They asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” He answered, “No.”

¿Pues quién eres tú, le dijeron, para que podamos dar alguna respuesta a los que nos han enviado? ¿Qué dices de ti mismo?

Dijéronle: ¿Pues quién eres? para que demos respuesta á los que nos enviaron. ¿Qué dices de ti mismo?

Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

They said therefore to him, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”

Yo soy, dijo entonces, la voz del que clama en el desierto: Enderezad el camino del Señor, como lo tiene dicho el profeta Isaías.

Dijo: Yo soy la voz del que clama en el desierto: Enderezad el camino del Señor, como dijo Isaías profeta.

He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

He said, “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”

Es de saber que los enviados eran de la secta de los fariseos.

Y los que habían sido enviados eran de los Fariseos.

And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

The ones who had been sent were from the Pharisees.

Y le preguntaban de nuevo, diciendo: ¿Pues cómo bautizas, si tú no eres el Cristo , ni Elías, ni el profeta?

Y preguntáronle, y dijéronle: ¿Por qué pues bautizas, si tú no eres el Cristo, ni Elías, ni el profeta?

And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

They asked him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?”

Les respondió Juan, diciendo: Yo bautizo con agua; pero en medio de vosotros está uno, a quien no conocéis.

Y Juan les respondió, diciendo: Yo bautizo con agua; mas en medio de vosotros ha estado á quien vosotros no conocéis.

John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

John answered them, “I baptize in water, but among you stands one whom you don’t know.

El es el que ha de venir después de mí, el cual ha sido preferido a mí, y a quien yo no soy digno de desatar la correa de su zapato.

Este es el que ha de venir tras mí, el cual es antes de mí: del cual yo no soy digno de desatar la correa del zapato.

He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

He is the one who comes after me, who is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I’m not worthy to loosen.”

Todo esto sucedió en Betania, la que está a la otra parte del Jordán, donde Juan estaba bautizando.

Estas cosas acontecieron en Betábara, de la otra parte del Jordán, donde Juan bautizaba.

These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

Al día siguiente vio Juan a Jesús que venía a encontrarle, y dijo: He aquí el cordero de Dios, ved aquí el que quita los pecados del mundo.

El siguiente día ve Juan á Jesús que venía á él, y dice: He aquí el Cordero de Dios, que quita el pecado del mundo.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Este es aquel de quien yo dije: Detrás de mí viene un varón, el cual ha sido preferido a mí; por cuanto era antes que yo.

Este es del que dije: Tras mí viene un varón, el cual es antes de mí: porque era primero que yo.

This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.’

Yo no le conocía; pero yo he venido a bautizar con agua; para que él sea reconocido por Mesías en Israel.

Y yo no le conocía; más para que fuese manifestado á Israel, por eso vine yo bautizando con agua.

And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

I didn’t know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water, that he would be revealed to Israel.”

Y dio entonces Juan este testimonio de Jesús , diciendo: Yo he visto al Espíritu Santo descender del cielo en forma de paloma, y reposar sobre él.

Y Juan dió testimonio, diciendo: Vi al Espíritu que descendía del cielo como paloma, y reposó sobre él.

And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

John testified, saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.

Yo antes no le conocía, mas el que me envió a bautizar con agua, me dijo: Aquel sobre quien vieres que baja el Espíritu Santo, y reposa sobre él, ése es el que bautiza con el Espíritu Santo.

Y yo no le conocía; mas el que me envió á bautizar con agua, aquél me dijo: Sobre quien vieres descender el Espíritu, y que reposa sobre él, éste es el que bautiza con Espíritu Santo.

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

I didn’t recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘On whomever you will see the Spirit descending and remaining on him is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’

Yo le he visto; y por eso doy testimonio de que él es el Hijo de Dios.

And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

I have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.”

Al día siguiente otra vez estaba Juan allí con dos de sus discípulos.

Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

Y viendo a Jesús que pasaba, dijo: He aquí el cordero de Dios.

And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”

Los dos discípulos al oírle hablar así, se fueron en pos de Jesús .

Y oyéronle los dos discípulos hablar, y siguieron á Jesús.

And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

Y volviéndose Jesús , y viendo que le seguían, les dijo: ¿Qué buscáis? Respondieron ellos: Rabbi (que quiere decir Maestro), ¿dónde habitas?

Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

Les dijo: Venid y lo veréis. Fueron, pues, y vieron dónde habitaba, y se quedaron con él aquel día, era entonces como la hora de las diez.

Díceles: Venid y ved. Vinieron, y vieron donde moraba, y quedáronse con él aquel día: porque era como la hora de las diez.

He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.

Uno de los dos, que habiendo oído lo que dijo Juan, siguieron a Jesús , era Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro.

Era Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro, uno de los dos que habían oído de Juan, y le habían seguido.

One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

El primero a quien éste halló fue Simón, su hermano, y le dijo: Hemos hallado al Mesías (que quiere decir el Cristo ).

He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

Y le llevó a Jesús . Y Jesús , fijos los ojos en él, dijo: Tú eres Simón, hijo de Jona o Juan: Tú serás llamado Cefas, que quiere decir Pedro, o piedra.

Y le trajo á Jesús. Y mirándole Jesús, dijo: Tú eres Simón, hijo de Jonás: tú serás llamado Cephas (que quiere decir, Piedra).

And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas” (which is by interpretation, Peter).

Al día siguiente determinó Jesús encaminarse a Galilea, y en el camino encontró a Felipe, y le dijo: Sígueme.

El siguiente día quiso Jesús ir á Galilea, y halla á Felipe, al cual dijo: Sígueme.

The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

On the next day, he was determined to go out into Galilee, and he found Philip. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.”

Era Felipe de Betsaida, patria de Andrés y de Pedro.

Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Felipe halló a Natanael, y le dijo: Hemos encontrado a aquel de quien escribió Moisés en la ley, y anunciaron los profetas, a Jesús de Nazaret, el hijo de José.

Felipe halló á Natanael, y dícele: Hemos hallado á aquel de quien escribió Moisés en la ley, y los profetas: á Jesús, el hijo de José, de Nazaret.

Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets, wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

Le respondió Natanael: ¿Acaso de Nazaret puede salir cosa buena? Le dijo Felipe: Ven, y lo verás.

Y díjole Natanael: ¿De Nazaret puede haber algo de bueno? Dícele Felipe: Ven y ve.

And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

Vio ¿Jesús venir hacia sí a Natanael, y dijo de él: He aquí un verdadero israelita, en quien ni hay doblez ni engaño.

Jesús vió venir á sí á Natanael, y dijo de él: He aquí un verdadero Israelita, en el cual no hay engaño.

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said about him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”

Le dijo Natanael: ¿De dónde me conoces? Le respondió Jesús : Antes que Felipe te llamara, yo te vi cuando estabas debajo de la higuera.

Dícele Natanael: ¿De dónde me conoces? Respondió Jesús, y díjole: Antes que Felipe te llamara, cuando estabas debajo de la higuera te vi.

Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

Al oír esto Natanael, le dijo: ¡Oh Maestro!, tú eres el Hijo de Dios, tú eres el rey de Israel.

Respondió Natanael, y díjole: Rabbí, tú eres el Hijo de Dios; tú eres el Rey de Israel.

Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel!”

Le replicó Jesús : Por haberte dicho que te vi debajo de la higuera, crees; mayores cosas que éstas verás todavía.

Respondió Jesús y díjole: ¿Porque te dije, te vi debajo de la higuera, crees? cosas mayores que éstas verás.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

Jesus answered him, “Because I told you, ‘I saw you underneath the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these!”

Y le añadió: En verdad, en verdad os digo, que algún día veréis abierto el cielo, y a los ángeles de Dios subir y bajar, sirviendo al Hijo del hombre.

Y dícele: De cierto, de cierto os digo: De aquí adelante veréis el cielo abierto, y los ángeles de Dios que suben y descienden sobre el Hijo del hombre.

And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

He said to him, “Most certainly, I tell you all, hereafter you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
