1Als nun der Herr erkannte, daß die Pharisäer gehört hatten, daß Jesus mehr Jünger mache und taufe als Johannes
2(wiewohl Jesus selbst nicht taufte, sondern seine Jünger),
3verließ er Judäa und zog wieder nach Galiläa.
4Er mußte aber durch Samaria ziehen.
5Er kommt nun in eine Stadt Samarias, genannt Sichar, nahe bei dem Felde, welches Jakob seinem Sohne Joseph gab.
6Es war aber daselbst eine Quelle Jakobs. Jesus nun, ermüdet von der Reise, setzte sich also an die Quelle nieder. Es war um die sechste Stunde.
7Da kommt ein Weib aus Samaria, Wasser zu schöpfen. Jesus spricht zu ihr: Gib mir zu trinken.
8(Denn seine Jünger waren weggegangen in die Stadt, um Speise zu kaufen.)
9Das samaritische Weib spricht nun zu ihm: Wie bittest du, der du ein Jude bist, von mir zu trinken, die ich ein samaritisches Weib bin? (Denn die Juden verkehren nicht mit den Samaritern.)
10Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihr: Wenn du die Gabe Gottes kenntest, und wer es ist, der zu dir spricht: Gib mir zu trinken, so würdest du ihn gebeten haben, und er hätte dir lebendiges Wasser gegeben.
11Das Weib spricht zu ihm: Herr, du hast kein Schöpfgefäß, und der Brunnen ist tief; woher hast du denn das lebendige Wasser?
12Du bist doch nicht größer als unser Vater Jakob, der uns den Brunnen gab, und er selbst trank aus demselben und seine Söhne und sein Vieh?
13Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihr: Jeden, der von diesem Wasser trinkt, wird wiederum dürsten;
14wer irgend aber von dem Wasser trinken wird, das ich ihm geben werde, den wird nicht dürsten in Ewigkeit; sondern das Wasser, das ich ihm geben werde, wird in ihm eine Quelle Wassers werden, das ins ewige Leben quillt.
15Das Weib spricht zu ihm: Herr, gib mir dieses Wasser, damit mich nicht dürste und ich nicht hierher komme, um zu schöpfen.
16Jesus spricht zu ihr: Gehe hin, rufe deinen Mann und komm hierher.
17Das Weib antwortete und sprach: Ich habe keinen Mann. Jesus spricht zu ihr: Du hast recht gesagt: Ich habe keinen Mann;
18denn fünf Männer hast du gehabt, und der, den du jetzt hast, ist nicht dein Mann; hierin hast du wahr geredet.
19Das Weib spricht zu ihm: Herr, ich sehe, daß du ein Prophet bist.
20Unsere Väter haben auf diesem Berge angebetet, und ihr saget, daß in Jerusalem der Ort sei, wo man anbeten müsse.
21Jesus spricht zu ihr: Weib, glaube mir, es kommt die Stunde, da ihr weder auf diesem Berge, noch in Jerusalem den Vater anbeten werdet.
22Ihr betet an und wisset nicht, was; wir beten an und wissen, was, denn das Heil ist aus den Juden.
23Es kommt aber die Stunde und ist jetzt, da die wahrhaftigen Anbeter den Vater in Geist und Wahrheit anbeten werden; denn auch der Vater sucht solche als seine Anbeter.
24Gott ist ein Geist, und die ihn anbeten, müssen in Geist und Wahrheit anbeten.
25Das Weib spricht zu ihm: Ich weiß, das der Messias kommt, welcher Christus genannt wird; wenn jener kommt, wird er uns alles verkündigen.
26Jesus spricht zu ihr: Ich bin's, der mit dir redet.
27Und über diesem kamen seine Jünger und verwunderten sich, daß er mit einem Weibe redete. Dennoch sagte niemand: Was suchst du? oder: Was redest du mit ihr?
28Das Weib nun ließ ihren Wasserkrug stehen und ging weg in die Stadt und sagt zu den Leuten:
29Kommet, sehet einen Menschen, der mir alles gesagt hat, was irgend ich getan habe; dieser ist doch nicht etwa der Christus?
30Sie gingen zu der Stadt hinaus und kamen zu ihm.
31In der Zwischenzeit [aber] baten ihn die Jünger und sprachen: Rabbi, iß.
32Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Ich habe eine Speise zu essen, die ihr nicht kennet.
33Da sprachen die Jünger zueinander: Hat ihm wohl jemand zu essen gebracht?
34Jesus spricht zu ihnen: Meine Speise ist, daß ich den Willen dessen tue, der mich gesandt hat, und sein Werk vollbringe.
35Saget ihr nicht: Es sind noch vier Monate, und die Ernte kommt? Siehe, ich sage euch: Hebet eure Augen auf und schauet die Felder an, denn sie sind schon weiß zur Ernte.
36Der da erntet, empfängt Lohn und sammelt Frucht zum ewigen Leben, auf daß beide, der da sät und der da erntet, zugleich sich freuen.
37Denn hierin ist der Spruch wahr: Ein anderer ist es, der da sät, und ein anderer, der da erntet.
38Ich habe euch gesandt, zu ernten, woran ihr nicht gearbeitet habt; andere haben gearbeitet, und ihr seid in ihre Arbeit eingetreten.
39Aus jener Stadt aber glaubten viele von den Samaritern an ihn um des Wortes des Weibes willen, welches bezeugte: Er hat mir alles gesagt, was irgend ich getan habe.
40Als nun die Samariter zu ihm kamen, baten sie ihn, bei ihnen zu bleiben; und er blieb daselbst zwei Tage.
41Und noch viele mehr glaubten um seines Wortes willen;
42und sie sagten zu dem Weibe: Wir glauben nicht mehr um deines Redens willen, denn wir selbst haben gehört und wissen, daß dieser wahrhaftig der Heiland der Welt ist.
43Nach den zwei Tagen aber zog er von dannen aus [und ging hin] nach Galiläa;
44denn Jesus selbst bezeugte, daß ein Prophet in dem eigenen Vaterlande keine Ehre hat.
45Als er nun nach Galiläa kam, nahmen die Galiläer ihn auf, da sie alles gesehen, was er in Jerusalem auf dem Feste getan hatte; denn auch sie kamen zu dem Fest.
46Er kam nun wiederum nach Kana in Galiläa, wo er das Wasser zu Wein gemacht hatte. Und es war ein gewisser königlicher Beamter, dessen Sohn krank war, in Kapernaum.
47Als dieser gehört hatte, daß Jesus aus Judäa nach Galiläa gekommen sei, ging er zu ihm hin und bat [ihn], daß er herabkomme und seinen Sohn heile; denn er lag im Sterben.
48Jesus sprach nun zu ihm: Wenn ihr nicht Zeichen und Wunder sehet, so werdet ihr nicht glauben.
49Der königliche Beamte spricht zu ihm: Herr, komm herab, ehe mein Kind stirbt!
50Jesus spricht zu ihm: Gehe hin, dein Sohn lebt. Und der Mensch glaubte dem Worte, das Jesus zu ihm sagte, und ging hin.
51Aber schon während er hinabging, begegneten ihm seine Knechte und berichteten, daß sein Knabe lebe.
52Er erforschte nun von ihnen die Stunde, in welcher es besser mit ihm geworden sei; und sie sagten zu ihm: Gestern zur siebten Stunde verließ ihn das Fieber.
53Da erkannte der Vater, daß es in jener Stunde war, in welcher Jesus zu ihm sagte: Dein Sohn lebt. Und er glaubte, er und sein ganzes Haus.
54Dies tat Jesus wiederum als zweites Zeichen, als er aus Judäa nach Galiläa gekommen war.

1DE manera que como Jesús entendió que los Fariseos habían oído que Jesús hacía y bautizaba más discípulos que Juan,
2(Aunque Jesús no bautizaba, sino sus discípulos),
3Dejó á Judea, y fuése otra vez á Galilea.
4Y era menester que pasase por Samaria.
5Vino, pues, á una ciudad de Samaria que se llamaba Sichâr, junto á la heredad que Jacob dió á José su hijo.
6Y estaba allí la fuente de Jacob. Pues Jesús, cansado del camino, así se sentó á la fuente. Era como la hora de sexta.
7Vino una mujer de Samaria á sacar agua: y Jesús le dice: Dame de beber.
8(Porque sus discípulos habían ido á la ciudad á comprar de comer.)
9Y la mujer Samaritana le dice: ¿Cómo tú, siendo Judío, me pides á mí de beber, que soy mujer Samaritana? porque los Judíos no se tratan con los Samaritanos.
10Respondió Jesús y díjole: Si conocieses el don de Dios, y quién es el que te dice: Dame de beber: tú pedirías de él, y él te daría agua viva.
11La mujer le dice: Señor, no tienes con qué sacarla, y el pozo es hondo: ¿de dónde, pues, tienes el agua viva?
12¿Eres tú mayor que nuestro padre Jacob, que nos dió este pozo, del cual él bebió, y sus hijos, y sus ganados?
13Respondió Jesús y díjole: Cualquiera que bebiere de esta agua, volverá á tener sed;
14Mas el que bebiere del agua que yo le daré, para siempre no tendrá sed: mas el agua que yo le daré, será en él una fuente de agua que salte para vida eterna.
15La mujer le dice: Señor, dame esta agua, para que no tenga sed, ni venga acá á sacarla.
16Jesús le dice: Ve, llama á tu marido, y ven acá.
17Respondió la mujer, y dijo: No tengo marido. Dícele Jesús: Bien has dicho, No tengo marido;
18Porque cinco maridos has tenido: y el que ahora tienes no es tu marido; esto has dicho con verdad.
19Dícele la mujer: Señor, paréceme que tú eres profeta.
20Nuestros padres adoraron en este monte, y vosotros decís que en Jerusalem es el lugar donde es necesario adorar.
21Dícele Jesús: Mujer, créeme, que la hora viene, cuando ni en este monte, ni en Jerusalem adoraréis al Padre.
22Vosotros adoráis lo que no sabéis; nosotros adoramos lo que sabemos: porque la salud viene de los Judíos.
23Mas la hora viene, y ahora es, cuando los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad; porque también el Padre tales adoradores busca que le adoren.
24Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran, en espíritu y en verdad es necesario que adoren.
25Dícele la mujer: Sé que el Mesías ha de venir, el cual se dice el Cristo: cuando él viniere nos declarará todas las cosas.
26Dícele Jesús: Yo soy, que hablo contigo.
27Y en esto vinieron sus discípulos, y maravilláronse de que hablaba con mujer; mas ninguno dijo: ¿Qué preguntas? ó, ¿Qué hablas con ella?
28Entonces la mujer dejó su cántaro, y fué á la ciudad, y dijo á aquellos hombres:
29Venid, ved un hombre que me ha dicho todo lo que he hecho: ¿si quizás es éste el Cristo?
30Entonces salieron de la ciudad, y vinieron á él.
31Entre tanto los discípulos le rogaban, diciendo: Rabbí, come.
32Y él les dijo: Yo tengo una comida que comer, que vosotros no sabéis.
33Entonces los discípulos decían el uno al otro: ¿Si le habrá traído alguien de comer?
34Díceles Jesús: Mi comida es que haga la voluntad del que me envió, y que acabe su obra.
35¿No decís vosotros: Aun hay cuatro meses hasta que llegue la siega? He aquí os digo: Alzad vuestros ojos, y mirad las regiones, porque ya están blancas para la siega.
36Y el que siega, recibe salario, y allega fruto para vida eterna; para que el que siembra también goce, y el que siega.
37Porque en esto es el dicho verdadero: Que uno es el que siembra, y otro es el que siega.
38Yo os he enviado á segar lo que vosotros no labrasteis: otros labraron, y vosotros habéis entrado en sus labores.
39Y muchos de los Samaritanos de aquella ciudad creyeron en él por la palabra de la mujer, que daba testimonio, diciendo: Que me dijo todo lo que he hecho.
40Viniendo pues los Samaritanos á él, rogáronle que se quedase allí: y se quedó allí dos días.
41Y creyeron muchos más por la palabra de él.
42Y decían á la mujer: Ya no creemos por tu dicho; porque nosotros mismos hemos oído, y sabemos que verdaderamente éste es el Salvador del mundo, el Cristo.
43Y dos días después, salió de allí, y fuése á Galilea.
44Porque el mismo Jesús dió testimonio de que el profeta en su tierra no tiene honra.
45Y como vino á Galilea, los Galileos le recibieron, vistas todas las cosas que había hecho en Jerusalem en el día de la fiesta: porque también ellos habían ido á la fiesta.
46Vino pues Jesús otra vez á Caná de Galilea, donde había hecho el vino del agua. Y había en Capernaum uno del rey, cuyo hijo estaba enfermo.
47Este, como oyó que Jesús venía de Judea á Galilea, fué á él, y rogábale que descendiese, y sanase á su hijo, porque se comenzaba á morir.
48Entonces Jesús le dijo: Si no viereis señales y milagros no creeréis.
49El del rey le dijo: Señor, desciende antes que mi hijo muera.
50Dícele Jesús: Ve, tu hijo vive. Y el hombre creyó á la palabra que Jesús le dijo, y se fué.
51Y cuando ya él descendía, los siervos le salieron á recibir, y le dieron nuevas, diciendo: Tu hijo vive.
52Entonces él les preguntó á qué hora comenzó á estar mejor. Y dijéronle: Ayer á las siete le dejó la fiebre.
53El padre entonces entendió, que aquella hora era cuando Jesús le dijo: Tu hijo vive; y creyó él y toda su casa.
54Esta segunda señal volvió Jesús á hacer, cuando vino de Judea á Galilea.

1When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
3He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee.
4And he must needs go through Samaria.
5Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41And many more believed because of his own word;
42And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
44For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
45Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilæans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
46So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judæa into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judæa into Galilee.
World English Bible
1Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
2(although Jesus himself didn’t baptize, but his disciples),
3he left Judea and departed into Galilee.
4He needed to pass through Samaria.
5So he came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
7A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”
8For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
9The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, “How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
10Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
11The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. So where do you get that living water?
12Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his children and his livestock?”
13Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again,
14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
15The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I don’t get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw.”
16Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
17The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You said well, ‘I have no husband,’
18for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”
19The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
20Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”
21Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
22You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.
23But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshipers.
24God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
25The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming, he who is called Christ. When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”
26Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who speaks to you.”
27Just then, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, “What are you looking for?” or, “Why do you speak with her?”
28So the woman left her water pot, went away into the city, and said to the people,
29“Come, see a man who told me everything that I have done. Can this be the Christ?”
30They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
31In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
32But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”
33The disciples therefore said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?”
34Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
35Don’t you say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest’? Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already.
36He who reaps receives wages and gathers fruit to eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
37For in this the saying is true, ‘One sows, and another reaps.’
38I sent you to reap that for which you haven’t labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”
39From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, “He told me everything that I have done.”
40So when the Samaritans came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.
41Many more believed because of his word.
42They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”
43After the two days he went out from there and went into Galilee.
44For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
45So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast.
46Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.

50Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.
51As he was going down, his servants met him and reported, saying “Your child lives!”
52So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, the fever left him.”
53So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” He believed, as did his whole house.
54This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
