1Quando dunque il Signore ebbe saputo che i Farisei aveano udito ch’egli faceva e battezzava più discepoli di Giovanni
2(quantunque non fosse Gesù che battezzava, ma i suoi discepoli),
3lasciò la Giudea e se n’andò di nuovo in Galilea.
4Or doveva passare per la Samaria.
5Giunse dunque a una città della Samaria, chiamata Sichar, vicina al podere che Giacobbe dette a Giuseppe, suo figliuolo;
6e quivi era la fonte di Giacobbe. Gesù dunque, stanco del cammino, stava così a sedere presso la fonte. Era circa l’ora sesta.
7Una donna samaritana venne ad attinger l’acqua. Gesù le disse: Dammi da bere.
8(Giacché i suoi discepoli erano andati in città a comprar da mangiare).
9Onde la donna samaritana gli disse: Come mai tu che sei giudeo chiedi da bere a me che sono una donna samaritana? Infatti i Giudei non hanno relazioni co’ Samaritani.
10Gesù rispose e le disse: Se tu conoscessi il dono di Dio e chi è che ti dice: Dammi da bere, tu stessa gliene avresti chiesto, ed egli t’avrebbe dato dell’acqua viva.
11La donna gli disse: Signore, tu non hai nulla per attingere, e il pozzo è profondo; donde hai dunque cotest’acqua viva?
12Sei tu più grande di Giacobbe nostro padre che ci dette questo pozzo e ne bevve egli stesso co’ suoi figliuoli e il suo bestiame?
13Gesù rispose e le disse: Chiunque beve di quest’acqua avrà sete di nuovo;
14ma chi beve dell’acqua che io gli darò, non avrà mai più sete; anzi, l’acqua che io gli darò, diventerà in lui una fonte d’acqua che scaturisce in vita eterna.
15La donna gli disse: Signore, dammi di cotest’acqua, affinché io non abbia più sete, e non venga più sin qua ad attingere.
16Gesù le disse: Va’ a chiamar tuo marito e vieni qua.
17La donna gli rispose: Non ho marito. E Gesù: Hai detto bene: Non ho marito;
18perché hai avuto cinque mariti; e quello che hai ora, non è tuo marito; in questo hai detto il vero.
19La donna gli disse: Signore, io vedo che tu sei un profeta.
20I nostri padri hanno adorato su questo monte, e voi dite che a Gerusalemme è il luogo dove bisogna adorare.
21Gesù le disse: Donna, credimi; l’ora viene che né su questo monte né a Gerusalemme adorerete il Padre.
22Voi adorate quel che non conoscete; noi adoriamo quel che conosciamo, perché la salvazione vien da’ Giudei.
23Ma l’ora viene, anzi è già venuta, che i veri adoratori adoreranno il Padre in ispirito e verità; poiché tali sono gli adoratori che il Padre richiede.
24Iddio è spirito; e quelli che l’adorano, bisogna che l’adorino in ispirito e verità.
25La donna gli disse: Io so che il Messia (ch’è chiamato Cristo) ha da venire; quando sarà venuto, ci annunzierà ogni cosa.
26Gesù le disse: Io che ti parlo, son desso.
27In quel mentre giunsero i suoi discepoli, e si maravigliarono ch’egli parlasse con una donna; ma pur nessuno gli chiese: Che cerchi? o: Perché discorri con lei?
28La donna lasciò dunque la sua secchia, se ne andò in città e disse alla gente:
29Venite a vedere un uomo che m’ha detto tutto quello che ho fatto; non sarebb’egli il Cristo?
30La gente uscì dalla città e veniva a lui.
31Intanto i discepoli lo pregavano, dicendo: Maestro, mangia.
32Ma egli disse loro: Io ho un cibo da mangiare che voi non sapete.
33Perciò i discepoli si dicevano l’uno all’altro: Forse qualcuno gli ha portato da mangiare?
34Gesù disse loro: Il mio cibo è di far la volontà di Colui che mi ha mandato, e di compiere l’opera sua.
35Non dite voi che ci sono ancora quattro mesi e poi vien la mietitura? Ecco, io vi dico: Levate gli occhi e mirate le campagne come già son bianche da mietere.
36Il mietitore riceve premio e raccoglie frutto per la vita eterna, affinché il seminatore ed il mietitore si rallegrino assieme.
37Poiché in questo è vero il detto: L’uno semina e l’altro miete.
38Io v’ho mandati a mieter quello intorno a cui non avete faticato; altri hanno faticato, e voi siete entrati nella lor fatica.
39Or molti de’ Samaritani di quella città credettero in lui a motivo della testimonianza resa da quella donna: Egli m’ha detto tutte le cose che ho fatte.
40Quando dunque i Samaritani furono venuti a lui, lo pregarono di trattenersi da loro; ed egli si trattenne quivi due giorni.
41E più assai credettero a motivo della sua parola;
42e dicevano alla donna: Non è più a motivo di quel che tu ci hai detto, che crediamo; perché abbiamo udito da noi, e sappiamo che questi è veramente il Salvator del mondo.
43Passati que’ due giorni, egli partì di là per andare in Galilea;
44poiché Gesù stesso aveva attestato che un profeta non è onorato nella sua propria patria.
45Quando dunque fu venuto in Galilea, fu accolto dai Galilei, perché avean vedute tutte le cose ch’egli avea fatte in Gerusalemme alla festa; poiché anch’essi erano andati alla festa.
46Gesù dunque venne di nuovo a Cana di Galilea, dove avea cambiato l’acqua in vino. E v’era un certo ufficial reale, il cui figliuolo era infermo a Capernaum.
47Come egli ebbe udito che Gesù era venuto dalla Giudea in Galilea, andò a lui e lo pregò che scendesse e guarisse il suo figliuolo, perché stava per morire.
48Perciò Gesù gli disse: Se non vedete segni e miracoli, voi non crederete.
49L’ufficial reale gli disse: Signore, scendi prima che il mio bambino muoia.
50Gesù gli disse: Va’, il tuo figliuolo vive. Quell’uomo credette alla parola che Gesù gli avea detta, e se ne andò.
51E come già stava scendendo, i suoi servitori gli vennero incontro e gli dissero: Il tuo figliuolo vive.
52Allora egli domandò loro a che ora avesse cominciato a star meglio; ed essi gli risposero: Ieri, all’ora settima, la febbre lo lasciò.
53Così il padre conobbe che ciò era avvenuto nell’ora che Gesù gli avea detto: Il tuo figliuolo vive; e credette lui con tutta la sua casa.
54Questo secondo miracolo fece di nuovo Gesù, tornando dalla Giudea in Galilea.

1DE manera que como Jesús entendió que los Fariseos habían oído que Jesús hacía y bautizaba más discípulos que Juan,
2(Aunque Jesús no bautizaba, sino sus discípulos),
3Dejó á Judea, y fuése otra vez á Galilea.
4Y era menester que pasase por Samaria.
5Vino, pues, á una ciudad de Samaria que se llamaba Sichâr, junto á la heredad que Jacob dió á José su hijo.
6Y estaba allí la fuente de Jacob. Pues Jesús, cansado del camino, así se sentó á la fuente. Era como la hora de sexta.
7Vino una mujer de Samaria á sacar agua: y Jesús le dice: Dame de beber.
8(Porque sus discípulos habían ido á la ciudad á comprar de comer.)
9Y la mujer Samaritana le dice: ¿Cómo tú, siendo Judío, me pides á mí de beber, que soy mujer Samaritana? porque los Judíos no se tratan con los Samaritanos.
10Respondió Jesús y díjole: Si conocieses el don de Dios, y quién es el que te dice: Dame de beber: tú pedirías de él, y él te daría agua viva.
11La mujer le dice: Señor, no tienes con qué sacarla, y el pozo es hondo: ¿de dónde, pues, tienes el agua viva?
12¿Eres tú mayor que nuestro padre Jacob, que nos dió este pozo, del cual él bebió, y sus hijos, y sus ganados?
13Respondió Jesús y díjole: Cualquiera que bebiere de esta agua, volverá á tener sed;
14Mas el que bebiere del agua que yo le daré, para siempre no tendrá sed: mas el agua que yo le daré, será en él una fuente de agua que salte para vida eterna.
15La mujer le dice: Señor, dame esta agua, para que no tenga sed, ni venga acá á sacarla.
16Jesús le dice: Ve, llama á tu marido, y ven acá.
17Respondió la mujer, y dijo: No tengo marido. Dícele Jesús: Bien has dicho, No tengo marido;
18Porque cinco maridos has tenido: y el que ahora tienes no es tu marido; esto has dicho con verdad.
19Dícele la mujer: Señor, paréceme que tú eres profeta.
20Nuestros padres adoraron en este monte, y vosotros decís que en Jerusalem es el lugar donde es necesario adorar.
21Dícele Jesús: Mujer, créeme, que la hora viene, cuando ni en este monte, ni en Jerusalem adoraréis al Padre.
22Vosotros adoráis lo que no sabéis; nosotros adoramos lo que sabemos: porque la salud viene de los Judíos.
23Mas la hora viene, y ahora es, cuando los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad; porque también el Padre tales adoradores busca que le adoren.
24Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran, en espíritu y en verdad es necesario que adoren.
25Dícele la mujer: Sé que el Mesías ha de venir, el cual se dice el Cristo: cuando él viniere nos declarará todas las cosas.
26Dícele Jesús: Yo soy, que hablo contigo.
27Y en esto vinieron sus discípulos, y maravilláronse de que hablaba con mujer; mas ninguno dijo: ¿Qué preguntas? ó, ¿Qué hablas con ella?
28Entonces la mujer dejó su cántaro, y fué á la ciudad, y dijo á aquellos hombres:
29Venid, ved un hombre que me ha dicho todo lo que he hecho: ¿si quizás es éste el Cristo?
30Entonces salieron de la ciudad, y vinieron á él.
31Entre tanto los discípulos le rogaban, diciendo: Rabbí, come.
32Y él les dijo: Yo tengo una comida que comer, que vosotros no sabéis.
33Entonces los discípulos decían el uno al otro: ¿Si le habrá traído alguien de comer?
34Díceles Jesús: Mi comida es que haga la voluntad del que me envió, y que acabe su obra.
35¿No decís vosotros: Aun hay cuatro meses hasta que llegue la siega? He aquí os digo: Alzad vuestros ojos, y mirad las regiones, porque ya están blancas para la siega.
36Y el que siega, recibe salario, y allega fruto para vida eterna; para que el que siembra también goce, y el que siega.
37Porque en esto es el dicho verdadero: Que uno es el que siembra, y otro es el que siega.
38Yo os he enviado á segar lo que vosotros no labrasteis: otros labraron, y vosotros habéis entrado en sus labores.
39Y muchos de los Samaritanos de aquella ciudad creyeron en él por la palabra de la mujer, que daba testimonio, diciendo: Que me dijo todo lo que he hecho.
40Viniendo pues los Samaritanos á él, rogáronle que se quedase allí: y se quedó allí dos días.
41Y creyeron muchos más por la palabra de él.
42Y decían á la mujer: Ya no creemos por tu dicho; porque nosotros mismos hemos oído, y sabemos que verdaderamente éste es el Salvador del mundo, el Cristo.
43Y dos días después, salió de allí, y fuése á Galilea.
44Porque el mismo Jesús dió testimonio de que el profeta en su tierra no tiene honra.
45Y como vino á Galilea, los Galileos le recibieron, vistas todas las cosas que había hecho en Jerusalem en el día de la fiesta: porque también ellos habían ido á la fiesta.
46Vino pues Jesús otra vez á Caná de Galilea, donde había hecho el vino del agua. Y había en Capernaum uno del rey, cuyo hijo estaba enfermo.
47Este, como oyó que Jesús venía de Judea á Galilea, fué á él, y rogábale que descendiese, y sanase á su hijo, porque se comenzaba á morir.
48Entonces Jesús le dijo: Si no viereis señales y milagros no creeréis.
49El del rey le dijo: Señor, desciende antes que mi hijo muera.
50Dícele Jesús: Ve, tu hijo vive. Y el hombre creyó á la palabra que Jesús le dijo, y se fué.
51Y cuando ya él descendía, los siervos le salieron á recibir, y le dieron nuevas, diciendo: Tu hijo vive.
52Entonces él les preguntó á qué hora comenzó á estar mejor. Y dijéronle: Ayer á las siete le dejó la fiebre.
53El padre entonces entendió, que aquella hora era cuando Jesús le dijo: Tu hijo vive; y creyó él y toda su casa.
54Esta segunda señal volvió Jesús á hacer, cuando vino de Judea á Galilea.

1When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
3He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee.
4And he must needs go through Samaria.
5Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41And many more believed because of his own word;
42And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
44For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
45Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilæans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
46So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judæa into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judæa into Galilee.

1Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
2(although Jesus himself didn’t baptize, but his disciples),
3he left Judea and departed into Galilee.
4He needed to pass through Samaria.
5So he came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
7A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”
8For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
9The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, “How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
10Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
11The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. So where do you get that living water?
12Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his children and his livestock?”
13Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again,
14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
15The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I don’t get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw.”
16Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
17The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You said well, ‘I have no husband,’
18for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”
19The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
20Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”
21Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
22You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.
23But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshipers.
24God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
25The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming, he who is called Christ. When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”
26Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who speaks to you.”
27Just then, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, “What are you looking for?” or, “Why do you speak with her?”
28So the woman left her water pot, went away into the city, and said to the people,
29“Come, see a man who told me everything that I have done. Can this be the Christ?”
30They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
31In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
32But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”
33The disciples therefore said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?”
34Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
35Don’t you say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest’? Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already.
36He who reaps receives wages and gathers fruit to eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
37For in this the saying is true, ‘One sows, and another reaps.’
38I sent you to reap that for which you haven’t labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”
39From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, “He told me everything that I have done.”
40So when the Samaritans came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.
41Many more believed because of his word.
42They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”
43After the two days he went out from there and went into Galilee.
44For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
45So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast.
46Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him and begged him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.
48Jesus therefore said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will in no way believe.”
49The nobleman said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
50Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.
51As he was going down, his servants met him and reported, saying “Your child lives!”
52So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, the fever left him.”
53So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” He believed, as did his whole house.
54This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
