1Cuando Jesús se dio cuenta que los fariseos habían descubierto que él estaba ganando y bautizando más discípulos que Juan,
2(aunque no era Jesús quien estaba bautizando, sino sus discípulos),
3se fue de Judea y regresó a Galilea.
4En su camino, tenía que pasar por Samaria.
5Así que llegó a la ciudad de Sicar, cerca del campo que Jacob había entregado a su hijo José.
6Allí estaba el pozo de Jacob, y Jesús, estando cansado del viaje, se sentó junto al pozo. Era medio día.
7Una mujer samaritana vino a buscar agua. Y Jesús le dijo: “¿Podrías darme de beber, por favor?”
8pues sus discípulos habían ido a comprar comida a la ciudad.
9“Tú eres un judío, y yo soy una mujer samaritana. ¿Cómo puedes pedirme que te dé de beber?” respondió la mujer, pues los judíos no se asocian con los samaritanos.
10Jesús le respondió: “Si tan solo reconocieras el don de Dios y a quien te está pidiendo ‘dame de beber,’ tú le habrías pedido a él y él te habría dado el agua de vida”.
11“Señor, tú no tienes un cántaro, y el pozo es profundo. ¿De dónde vas a sacar el agua de vida?” respondió ella.
12“Nuestro Padre Jacob nos dio el pozo. Él mismo bebió de él, así como sus hijos y sus animales. ¿Eres tu más grande que él?”
13Jesús respondió: “Todo el que bebe agua de este pozo, volverá a tener sed.
14Pero los que beban del agua que yo doy, no volverán a tener sed de nuevo. El agua que yo doy se convierte en una fuente de agua rebosante dentro de ellos, dándoles vida eterna”.
15“Señor”, respondió la mujer, “¡Por favor, dame de esa agua para que yo no tenga más sed y no tenga que venir aquí a buscar agua!”
16“Ve y llama a tu esposo, y regresa aquí”, le dijo Jesús.
17“No tengo un esposo”, respondió la mujer. “Estás en lo correcto al decir que no tienes un esposo”, le dijo Jesús.
18“Has tenido cinco esposos, y el hombre con el que estás viviendo ahora no es tu esposo. ¡Así que lo que dices es cierto!”
19“Puedo ver que eres un profeta, señor”, respondió la mujer.
20“Dime esto: nuestros ancestros adoraron aquí en este monte, pero tú dices que en Jerusalén es donde debemos adorar”.
21Jesús respondió: “Créeme que viene el tiempo en que ustedes no adorarán al Padre ni en este monte, ni en Jerusalén.
22Ustedes no conocen realmente al Dios que están adorando, mientras que nosotros adoramos al Dios que conocemos, porque la salvación viene de los judíos.
23Pero viene el tiempo—y de hecho, ya llegó—cuando los adoradores adorarán al Padre en Espíritu y en verdad, porque este es el tipo de adoradores que el Padre quiere.
24Dios es Espíritu, así que los adoradores deben adorar en Espíritu y en verdad”.
25La mujer dijo: “Bueno, yo sé que el Mesías vendrá”, (al que llaman Cristo). “Cuando él venga, él nos lo explicará a todos nosotros”.
26Jesús respondió: “YO SOY—el que habla contigo”.
27Justo en ese momento, regresaron los discípulos. Ellos estaban sorprendidos de que él estuviera hablando con una mujer, pero ninguno de ellos le preguntó “¿qué haces?” o “¿por qué estás hablando con ella?”
28La mujer dejó su tinaja de agua y corrió de regreso a la ciudad, diciendo a la gente:
29“¡Vengan y conozcan a un hombre que me dijo todo lo que he hecho! ¿Podría ser este el Mesías?”
30Entonces la gente se fue de la ciudad para verlo.
31Mientras tanto, los discípulos de Jesús estaban insistiéndole: “¡Maestro, come algo, por favor!”
32Pero Jesús respondió: “La comida que yo tengo para comer es una de la que ustedes no saben”.
33“¿Le trajo comida alguien?” se preguntaban los discípulos unos a otros.
34Jesús les explicó: “Mi comida es hacer la voluntad de Aquél que me envió y completar su obra.
35¿No tienen ustedes el dicho: ‘hay cuatro meses entre la siembra y la cosecha?’ ¡Abran sus ojos y miren a su alrededor! Los cultivos están maduros, listos para la siega.
36Al segador se le paga bien y la cosecha es para vida eterna, a fin de que tanto el sembrador como el segador puedan celebrar juntos.
37Así que el proverbio que dice ‘uno es el que siembra y otro es el que cosecha,’ es verdadero.
38Yo los envío a ustedes a cosechar aquello que no sembraron. Otros hicieron la obra, y ustedes han segado ahora los beneficios de lo que ellos hicieron”.
39Muchos samaritanos de aquella ciudad creyeron en él porque la mujer dijo “Él me dijo todo lo que yo he hecho”.
40Así que cuando vinieron a verlo, le suplicaron que se quedara con ellos. Él permaneció allí por dos días,
41y por lo que él les dijo, muchos creyeron en él.
42Ellos le dijeron a la mujer: “Ahora nuestra confianza en él no es por lo que tú nos dijiste sino porque nosotros mismos lo hemos oído. Estamos convencidos de que él es realmente el Salvador del mundo”.
43Después de dos días, siguió camino a Galilea.
44Jesús mismo había hecho el comentario de que un profeta no es respetado en su propia tierra.
45Pero cuando llegó a Galilea, el pueblo lo recibió porque ellos también habían estado en la fiesta de la Pascua y habían visto todo lo que él había hecho en Jerusalén.
46Él visitó nuevamente Caná de Galilea, donde había convertido el agua en vino. Cerca, en la ciudad de Capernaúm, vivía un oficial del rey cuyo hijo estaba muy enfermo.
47Cuando él escuchó que Jesús había regresado de Judea a Galilea, fue a Jesús y le rogó que viniese y sanase a su hijo que estaba a punto de morir.
48“A menos que vean señales y milagros, ustedes no creerán realmente en mi”, dijo Jesús.
49“Señor, solo ven antes de que mi hijo muera”, suplicó el oficial.
50“Ve a casa”, le dijo Jesús. “¡Tu hijo vivirá!” El hombre creyó lo que Jesús le dijo y se fue a casa.
51Mientras aún iba de camino, sus siervos salieron a su encuentro, y al verlo, le dijeron la noticia de que su hijo estaba vivo y recuperándose.
52Él les preguntó a qué hora había comenzado a mejorar su hijo. “Ayer a la una de la tarde dejó de tener fiebre”, le dijeron.
53Entonces el padre se dio cuenta de que esa era la hora precisa en la que Jesús le había dicho “¡Tu hijo vivirá!” Entonces él y todos en su casa creyeron en Jesús.
54Este fue el segundo milagro que Jesús hizo después de regresar de Judea a Galilea.

1DE manera que como Jesús entendió que los Fariseos habían oído que Jesús hacía y bautizaba más discípulos que Juan,
2(Aunque Jesús no bautizaba, sino sus discípulos),
3Dejó á Judea, y fuése otra vez á Galilea.
4Y era menester que pasase por Samaria.
5Vino, pues, á una ciudad de Samaria que se llamaba Sichâr, junto á la heredad que Jacob dió á José su hijo.
6Y estaba allí la fuente de Jacob. Pues Jesús, cansado del camino, así se sentó á la fuente. Era como la hora de sexta.
7Vino una mujer de Samaria á sacar agua: y Jesús le dice: Dame de beber.
8(Porque sus discípulos habían ido á la ciudad á comprar de comer.)
9Y la mujer Samaritana le dice: ¿Cómo tú, siendo Judío, me pides á mí de beber, que soy mujer Samaritana? porque los Judíos no se tratan con los Samaritanos.
10Respondió Jesús y díjole: Si conocieses el don de Dios, y quién es el que te dice: Dame de beber: tú pedirías de él, y él te daría agua viva.
11La mujer le dice: Señor, no tienes con qué sacarla, y el pozo es hondo: ¿de dónde, pues, tienes el agua viva?
12¿Eres tú mayor que nuestro padre Jacob, que nos dió este pozo, del cual él bebió, y sus hijos, y sus ganados?
13Respondió Jesús y díjole: Cualquiera que bebiere de esta agua, volverá á tener sed;
14Mas el que bebiere del agua que yo le daré, para siempre no tendrá sed: mas el agua que yo le daré, será en él una fuente de agua que salte para vida eterna.
15La mujer le dice: Señor, dame esta agua, para que no tenga sed, ni venga acá á sacarla.
16Jesús le dice: Ve, llama á tu marido, y ven acá.
17Respondió la mujer, y dijo: No tengo marido. Dícele Jesús: Bien has dicho, No tengo marido;
18Porque cinco maridos has tenido: y el que ahora tienes no es tu marido; esto has dicho con verdad.
19Dícele la mujer: Señor, paréceme que tú eres profeta.
20Nuestros padres adoraron en este monte, y vosotros decís que en Jerusalem es el lugar donde es necesario adorar.
21Dícele Jesús: Mujer, créeme, que la hora viene, cuando ni en este monte, ni en Jerusalem adoraréis al Padre.
22Vosotros adoráis lo que no sabéis; nosotros adoramos lo que sabemos: porque la salud viene de los Judíos.
23Mas la hora viene, y ahora es, cuando los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad; porque también el Padre tales adoradores busca que le adoren.
24Dios es Espíritu; y los que le adoran, en espíritu y en verdad es necesario que adoren.
25Dícele la mujer: Sé que el Mesías ha de venir, el cual se dice el Cristo: cuando él viniere nos declarará todas las cosas.
26Dícele Jesús: Yo soy, que hablo contigo.
27Y en esto vinieron sus discípulos, y maravilláronse de que hablaba con mujer; mas ninguno dijo: ¿Qué preguntas? ó, ¿Qué hablas con ella?
28Entonces la mujer dejó su cántaro, y fué á la ciudad, y dijo á aquellos hombres:
29Venid, ved un hombre que me ha dicho todo lo que he hecho: ¿si quizás es éste el Cristo?
30Entonces salieron de la ciudad, y vinieron á él.
31Entre tanto los discípulos le rogaban, diciendo: Rabbí, come.
32Y él les dijo: Yo tengo una comida que comer, que vosotros no sabéis.
33Entonces los discípulos decían el uno al otro: ¿Si le habrá traído alguien de comer?
34Díceles Jesús: Mi comida es que haga la voluntad del que me envió, y que acabe su obra.
35¿No decís vosotros: Aun hay cuatro meses hasta que llegue la siega? He aquí os digo: Alzad vuestros ojos, y mirad las regiones, porque ya están blancas para la siega.
36Y el que siega, recibe salario, y allega fruto para vida eterna; para que el que siembra también goce, y el que siega.
37Porque en esto es el dicho verdadero: Que uno es el que siembra, y otro es el que siega.
38Yo os he enviado á segar lo que vosotros no labrasteis: otros labraron, y vosotros habéis entrado en sus labores.
39Y muchos de los Samaritanos de aquella ciudad creyeron en él por la palabra de la mujer, que daba testimonio, diciendo: Que me dijo todo lo que he hecho.
40Viniendo pues los Samaritanos á él, rogáronle que se quedase allí: y se quedó allí dos días.
41Y creyeron muchos más por la palabra de él.
42Y decían á la mujer: Ya no creemos por tu dicho; porque nosotros mismos hemos oído, y sabemos que verdaderamente éste es el Salvador del mundo, el Cristo.
43Y dos días después, salió de allí, y fuése á Galilea.
44Porque el mismo Jesús dió testimonio de que el profeta en su tierra no tiene honra.
45Y como vino á Galilea, los Galileos le recibieron, vistas todas las cosas que había hecho en Jerusalem en el día de la fiesta: porque también ellos habían ido á la fiesta.
46Vino pues Jesús otra vez á Caná de Galilea, donde había hecho el vino del agua. Y había en Capernaum uno del rey, cuyo hijo estaba enfermo.
47Este, como oyó que Jesús venía de Judea á Galilea, fué á él, y rogábale que descendiese, y sanase á su hijo, porque se comenzaba á morir.
48Entonces Jesús le dijo: Si no viereis señales y milagros no creeréis.
49El del rey le dijo: Señor, desciende antes que mi hijo muera.
50Dícele Jesús: Ve, tu hijo vive. Y el hombre creyó á la palabra que Jesús le dijo, y se fué.
51Y cuando ya él descendía, los siervos le salieron á recibir, y le dieron nuevas, diciendo: Tu hijo vive.
52Entonces él les preguntó á qué hora comenzó á estar mejor. Y dijéronle: Ayer á las siete le dejó la fiebre.
53El padre entonces entendió, que aquella hora era cuando Jesús le dijo: Tu hijo vive; y creyó él y toda su casa.
54Esta segunda señal volvió Jesús á hacer, cuando vino de Judea á Galilea.

1When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
3He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee.
4And he must needs go through Samaria.
5Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41And many more believed because of his own word;
42And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
44For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
45Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilæans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
46So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judæa into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judæa into Galilee.
World English Bible
1Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
2(although Jesus himself didn’t baptize, but his disciples),
3he left Judea and departed into Galilee.
4He needed to pass through Samaria.
5So he came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
7A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.”
8For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
9The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, “How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
10Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
11The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. So where do you get that living water?
12Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his children and his livestock?”
13Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again,
14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
15The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I don’t get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw.”
16Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
17The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You said well, ‘I have no husband,’
18for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”
19The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
20Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”
21Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
22You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.
23But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshipers.
24God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
25The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming, he who is called Christ. When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”
26Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who speaks to you.”
27Just then, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, “What are you looking for?” or, “Why do you speak with her?”
28So the woman left her water pot, went away into the city, and said to the people,
29“Come, see a man who told me everything that I have done. Can this be the Christ?”
30They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
31In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
32But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”
33The disciples therefore said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?”
34Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
35Don’t you say, ‘There are yet four months until the harvest’? Behold, I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, that they are white for harvest already.
36He who reaps receives wages and gathers fruit to eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
37For in this the saying is true, ‘One sows, and another reaps.’
38I sent you to reap that for which you haven’t labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”
39From that city many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, “He told me everything that I have done.”
40So when the Samaritans came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.
41Many more believed because of his word.
42They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”
43After the two days he went out from there and went into Galilee.
44For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
45So when he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast.
46Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him and begged him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.
48Jesus therefore said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will in no way believe.”
49The nobleman said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
50Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.
51As he was going down, his servants met him and reported, saying “Your child lives!”
52So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, the fever left him.”
53So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” He believed, as did his whole house.
54This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.
