1Après cela, Jésus parcourait la Galilée, car il ne voulait pas séjourner en Judée, parce que les Juifs cherchaient à le faire mourir.
2Or, la fête des Juifs, la fête des Tabernacles, était proche.
3Et ses frères lui dirent: Pars d’ici, et va en Judée, afin que tes disciples voient aussi les œuvres que tu fais.
4Personne n’agit en secret, lorsqu’il désire paraître: si tu fais ces choses, montre-toi toi-même au monde.
5Car ses frères non plus ne croyaient pas en lui.
6Jésus leur dit: Mon temps n’est pas encore venu, mais votre temps est toujours prêt.
7Le monde ne peut vous haïr; moi, il me hait, parce que je rends de lui le témoignage que ses œuvres sontmauvaises.
8Montez, vous, à cette fête; pour moi, je n’y monte point,parce que mon temps n’est pas encore accompli.
9Après leur avoir dit cela, il resta en Galilée.
10Lorsque ses frères furent montés à la fête, il y monta aussi lui-même, non publiquement, mais comme en secret.
11Les Juifs le cherchaient pendant la fête, et disaient: Où est-il?
12Il y avait dans la foule grande rumeur à son sujet. Les uns disaient: C’est un homme de bien. D’autres disaient: Non, il égare la multitude.
13Personne, toutefois, ne parlait librement de lui, par crainte des Juifs.
14Vers le milieu de la fête, Jésus monta au temple. Et il enseignait.
15Les Juifs s’étonnaient, disant: Comment connaît-il les Écritures, lui qui n’a point étudié?
16Jésus leur répondit: Ma doctrine n’est pas de moi, mais de celui qui m’a envoyé.
17Si quelqu’un veut faire sa volonté, il connaîtra si ma doctrine est de Dieu, ou si je parle de mon chef.
18Celui qui parle de son chef cherche sa propre gloire; mais celui qui cherche la gloire de celui qui l’a envoyé, celui-là est vrai, et il n’y a point d’injustice en lui.
19Moïse ne vous a-t-il pas donné la loi? Et nul de vous n’observe la loi.Pourquoi cherchez-vous à me faire mourir?
20La foule répondit: Tu as un démon. Qui est-ce qui cherche à te faire mourir?
21Jésus leur répondit: J’ai fait une œuvre, et vous en êtes tous étonnés.
22Moïse vous a donné lacirconcision, non qu’elle vienne de Moïse, car elle vientdes patriarches, et vous circoncisez un homme le jour du sabbat.
23Si un homme reçoit la circoncision le jour du sabbat, afin que la loi de Moïse ne soit pas violée, pourquoi vous irritez-vous contre moi de ce que j’ai guéri un homme tout entier le jour du sabbat?
24Ne jugez pas selon l’apparence, mais jugez selon la justice.
25Quelques habitants de Jérusalem disaient: N’est-ce pas là celui qu’ils cherchent à faire mourir?
26Et voici, il parle librement, et ils ne lui disent rien! Est-ce que vraiment les chefs auraient reconnu qu’il est le Christ?
27Cependant celui-ci, nous savons d’où il est; mais le Christ, quand il viendra, personne ne saura d’où il est.
28Et Jésus, enseignant dans le temple, s’écria: Vous me connaissez, et vous savez d’où je suis! Je ne suis pas venude moi-même:mais celui qui m’a envoyé est vrai, et vous ne le connaissez pas.
29Moi, je le connais; car je viens de lui, et c’est lui qui m’a envoyé.
30Ils cherchaient donc à se saisir de lui, et personne ne mit la main sur lui, parce que son heure n’était pas encore venue.
31Plusieurs parmi la foule crurent en lui, et ils disaient: Le Christ, quand il viendra, fera-t-il plus de miracles que n’en a fait celui-ci?
32Les pharisiens entendirent la foule murmurant de lui ces choses. Alors les principaux sacrificateurs et les pharisiens envoyèrent des huissiers pour le saisir.
33Jésus dit: Je suis encore avec vous pour un peu de temps, puis je m’en vais vers celui qui m’a envoyé.
34Vous me chercherez et vous ne me trouverez pas, et vous ne pouvez venir où je serai.
35Sur quoi les Juifs dirent entre eux: Où ira-t-il, que nous ne le trouvions pas? Ira-t-il parmi ceux qui sont dispersés chez les Grecs, et enseignera-t-il les Grecs?
36Que signifie cette parole qu’il a dite: Vous me chercherez et vous ne me trouverez pas, et vous ne pouvez venir où je serai?
37Le dernier jour, le grand jour de la fête, Jésus, se tenant debout, s’écria: Si quelqu’un a soif, qu’il vienne à moi, et qu’il boive.
38Celui qui croit en moi, des fleuves d’eau vive couleront de son sein, comme ditl’Écriture.
39Il dit cela de l’Esprit que devaient recevoir ceux qui croiraient en lui; car l’Esprit n’était pas encore, parce que Jésus n’avait pas encore été glorifié.
40Des gens de la foule, ayant entendu ces paroles, disaient: Celui-ci est vraiment le prophète.
41D’autres disaient: C’est le Christ. Et d’autres disaient: Est-ce bien de la Galilée que doit venir le Christ?
42L’Écriture ne dit-elle pas que c’est de la postérité de David, et du village de Bethléhem, où était David, que le Christ doit venir?
43Il y eut donc, à cause de lui, division parmi la foule.
44Quelques-uns d’entre eux voulaient le saisir, mais personne ne mit la main sur lui.
45Ainsi les huissiers retournèrent vers les principaux sacrificateurs et les pharisiens. Et ceux-ci leur dirent: Pourquoi ne l’avez-vous pas amené?
46Les huissiers répondirent: Jamais homme n’a parlé comme cet homme.
47Les pharisiens leur répliquèrent: Est-ce que vous aussi, vous avez été séduits?
48Y a-t-il quelqu’un des chefs ou des pharisiens qui ait cru en lui?
49Mais cette foule qui ne connaît pas la loi, ce sont des maudits!
50Nicodème, qui était venu de nuit vers Jésus, et qui était l’un d’entre eux, leur dit:
51Notre loi condamne-t-elle un homme avant qu’on l’entende et qu’on sache ce qu’il a fait?
52Ils lui répondirent: Es-tu aussi Galiléen? Examine, et tu verras que de la Galilée il ne sort point de prophète.
53Et chacun s’en retourna dans sa maison.

1Y PASADAS estas cosas andaba Jesús en Galilea: que no quería andar en Judea, porque los Judíos procuraban matarle.
2Y estaba cerca la fiesta de los Judíos, la de los tabernáculos.
3Y dijéronle sus hermanos: Pásate de aquí, y vete á Judea, para que también tus discípulos vean las obras que haces.
4Que ninguno que procura ser claro, hace algo en oculto. Si estas cosas haces, manifiéstate al mundo.
5Porque ni aun sus hermanos creían en él.
6Díceles entonces Jesús: Mi tiempo aun no ha venido; mas vuestro tiempo siempre está presto.
7No puede el mundo aborreceros á vosotros; mas á mí me aborrece, porque yo doy testimonio de él, que sus obras son malas.
8Vosotros subid á esta fiesta; yo no subo aún á esta fiesta, porque mi tiempo aun no es cumplido.
9Y habiéndoles dicho esto, quedóse en Galilea.
10Mas como sus hermanos hubieron subido, entonces él también subió á la fiesta, no manifiestamente, sino como en secreto.
11Y buscábanle los Judíos en la fiesta, y decían: ¿Dónde está aquél?
12Y había grande murmullo de él entre la gente: porque unos decían: Bueno es; y otros decían: No, antes engaña á las gentes.
13Mas ninguno hablaba abiertamente de él, por miedo de los Judíos.
14Y al medio de la fiesta subió Jesús al templo, y enseñaba.
15Y maravillábanse los Judíos, diciendo: ¿Cómo sabe éste letras, no habiendo aprendido?
16Respondióles Jesús, y dijo: Mi doctrina no es mía, sino de aquél que me envió.
17El que quisiere hacer su voluntad, conocerá de la doctrina si viene de Dios, ó si yo hablo de mí mismo.
18El que habla de sí mismo, su propia gloria busca; mas el que busca la gloria del que le envió, éste es verdadero, y no hay en él injusticia.
19¿No os dió Moisés la ley, y ninguno de vosotros hace la ley? ¿Por qué me procuráis matar?
20Respondió la gente, y dijo: Demonio tienes: ¿quién te procura matar?
21Jesús respondió, y díjoles: Una obra hice, y todos os maravilláis.
22Cierto, Moisés os dió la circuncisión (no porque sea de Moisés, mas de los padres); y en sábado circuncidáis al hombre.
23Si recibe el hombre la circuncisión en sábado, para que la ley de Moisés no sea quebrantada, ¿os enojáis conmigo porque en sábado hice sano todo un hombre?
24No juzguéis según lo que parece, mas juzgad justo juicio.
25Decían entonces unos de los de Jerusalem: ¿No es éste al que buscan para matarlo?
26Y he aquí, habla públicamente, y no le dicen nada; ¿si habrán entendido verdaderamente los príncipes, que éste es el Cristo?
27Mas éste, sabemos de dónde es: y cuando viniere el Cristo, nadie sabrá de dónde sea.
28Entonces clamaba Jesús en el templo, enseñando y diciendo: Y á mí me conocéis, y sabéis de dónde soy; y no he venido de mí mismo; mas el que me envió es verdadero, al cual vosotros no conocéis.
29Yo le conozco, porque de él soy, y él me envió.
30Entonces procuraban prenderle; mas ninguno puso en él mano, porque aun no había venido su hora.
31Y muchos del pueblo creyeron en él, y decían: El Cristo, cuando viniere, ¿hará más señales que las que éste hace?
32Los Fariseos oyeron á la gente que murmuraba de él estas cosas; y los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los Fariseos enviaron servidores que le prendiesen.
33Y Jesús dijo: Aun un poco de tiempo estaré con vosotros, é iré al que me envió.
34Me buscaréis, y no me hallaréis; y donde yo estaré, vosotros no podréis venir.
35Entonces los Judíos dijeron entre sí: ¿A dónde se ha de ir éste que no le hallemos? ¿Se ha de ir á los esparcidos entre los Griegos, y á enseñar á los Griegos?
36¿Qué dicho es éste que dijo: Me buscaréis, y no me hallaréis; y donde yo estaré, vosotros no podréis venir?
37Mas en el postrer día grande de la fiesta, Jesús se ponía en pie y clamaba, diciendo: Si alguno tiene sed, venga á mí y beba.
38El que cree en mí, como dice la Escritura, ríos de agua viva correrán de su vientre.
39(Y esto dijo del Espíritu que habían de recibir los que creyesen en él: pues aun no había venido el Espíritu Santo; porque Jesús no estaba aún glorificado.)
40Entonces algunos de la multitud, oyendo este dicho, decían: Verdaderamente éste es el profeta.
41Otros decían: Este es el Cristo. Algunos empero decían: ¿De Galilea ha de venir el Cristo?
42¿No dice la Escritura, que de la simiente de David, y de la aldea de Bethlehem, de donde era David, vendrá el Cristo?
43Así que había disensión entre la gente acerca de él.
44Y algunos de ellos querían prenderle; mas ninguno echó sobre él manos.
45Y los ministriles vinieron á los principales sacerdotes y á los Fariseos; y ellos les dijeron: ¿Por qué no le trajisteis?
46Los ministriles respondieron: Nunca ha hablado hombre así como este hombre.
47Entonces los Fariseos les respondieron: ¿Estáis también vosotros engañados?
48¿Ha creído en él alguno de los príncipes, ó de los Fariseos?
49Mas estos comunales que no saben la ley, malditos son.
50Díceles Nicodemo (el que vino á él de noche, el cual era uno de ellos):
51¿Juzga nuestra ley á hombre, si primero no oyere de él, y entendiere lo que ha hecho?
52Respondieron y dijéronle: ¿Eres tú también Galileo? Escudriña y ve que de Galilea nunca se levantó profeta.
53Y fuése cada uno á su casa.

1After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.
2Now the Jews’ feast of tabernacles was at hand.
3His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judæa, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.
4For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.
5For neither did his brethren believe in him.
6Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.
7The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
8Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.
9When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.
10But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
11Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
12And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.
13Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.
14Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
15And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
16Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
18He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
19Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?
20The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?
21Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.
22Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
23If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?
24Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
25Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?
26But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?
27Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.
28Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
29But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.
30Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.
31And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?
32The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.
33Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.
34Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
35Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
36What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?
37In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
40Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.
41Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
42Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
43So there was a division among the people because of him.
44And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.
45Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?
46The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.
47Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?
48Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?
49But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.
50Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)
51Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?
52They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.
53And every man went unto his own house.

1After these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee, for he wouldn’t walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
2Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was at hand.
3His brothers therefore said to him, “Depart from here and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see your works which you do.
4For no one does anything in secret while he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world.”
5For even his brothers didn’t believe in him.
6Jesus therefore said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
7The world can’t hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.
8You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled.”
9Having said these things to them, he stayed in Galilee.
10But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.
11The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, “Where is he?”
12There was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said, “He is a good man.” Others said, “Not so, but he leads the multitude astray.”
13Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.
14But when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
15The Jews therefore marveled, saying, “How does this man know letters, having never been educated?”
16Jesus therefore answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.
17If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God or if I am speaking from myself.
18He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
19Didn’t Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill me?”
20The multitude answered, “You have a demon! Who seeks to kill you?”
21Jesus answered them, “I did one work and you all marvel because of it.
22Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a boy.
23If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because I made a man completely healthy on the Sabbath?
24Don’t judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”
25Therefore some of them of Jerusalem said, “Isn’t this he whom they seek to kill?
26Behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is truly the Christ?
27However, we know where this man comes from, but when the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from.”
28Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, “You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you don’t know.
29I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”
30They sought therefore to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.
31But of the multitude, many believed in him. They said, “When the Christ comes, he won’t do more signs than those which this man has done, will he?”
32The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
33Then Jesus said, “I will be with you a little while longer, then I go to him who sent me.
34You will seek me and won’t find me. You can’t come where I am.”
35The Jews therefore said among themselves, “Where will this man go that we won’t find him? Will he go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?
36What is this word that he said, ‘You will seek me, and won’t find me;’ and ‘Where I am, you can’t come’?”
37Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!
38He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.”
39But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn’t yet glorified.
40Many of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, “This is truly the prophet.”
41Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “What, does the Christ come out of Galilee?
42Hasn’t the Scripture said that the Christ comes of the offspring of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?”
43So a division arose in the multitude because of him.
44Some of them would have arrested him, but no one laid hands on him.
45The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said to them, “Why didn’t you bring him?”
46The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this man!”
47The Pharisees therefore answered them, “You aren’t also led astray, are you?
48Have any of the rulers or any of the Pharisees believed in him?
49But this multitude that doesn’t know the law is cursed.”
50Nicodemus (he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,
51“Does our law judge a man unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?”
52They answered him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search and see that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.”
53Everyone went to his own house,
