1Darnach zog Jesus umher in Galiläa; denn er wollte nicht in Judäa umherziehen, darum daß ihm die Juden nach dem Leben stellten.
2Es war aber nahe der Juden Fest, die Laubhütten.
3Da sprachen seine Brüder zu ihm: Mache dich auf von dannen und gehe nach Judäa, auf daß auch deine Jünger sehen, die Werke die du tust.
4Niemand tut etwas im Verborgenen und will doch frei offenbar sein. Tust du solches, so offenbare dich vor der Welt.
5Denn auch seine Brüder glaubten nicht an ihn.
6Da spricht Jesus zu ihnen: Meine Zeit ist noch nicht hier; eure Zeit aber ist allewege.
7Die Welt kann euch nicht hassen; mich aber haßt sie, denn ich zeuge von ihr, daß ihre Werke böse sind.
8Gehet ihr hinauf auf dieses Fest; ich will noch nicht hinaufgehen auf dieses Fest, den meine Zeit ist noch nicht erfüllt.
9Da er aber das zu ihnen gesagt, blieb er in Galiläa.
10Als aber seine Brüder waren hinaufgegangen, da ging er auch hinauf zu dem Fest, nicht offenbar, sondern wie heimlich.
11Da suchten ihn die Juden am Fest und sprachen: Wo ist der?
12Und es war ein großes Gemurmel unter dem Volk. Etliche sprachen: Er ist fromm; die andern aber sprachen: Nein, er verführt das Volk.
13Niemand aber redete frei von ihm um der Furcht willen vor den Juden.
14Aber mitten im Fest ging Jesus hinauf in den Tempel und lehrte.
15Und die Juden verwunderten sich und sprachen: Wie kann dieser die Schrift, so er sie doch nicht gelernt hat?
16Jesus antwortete ihnen und sprach: Meine Lehre ist nicht mein, sondern des, der mich gesandt hat.
17So jemand will des Willen tun, der wird innewerden, ob diese Lehre von Gott sei, oder ob ich von mir selbst rede.
18Wer von sich selbst redet, der sucht seine eigene Ehre; wer aber sucht die Ehre des, der ihn gesandt hat, der ist wahrhaftig, und ist keine Ungerechtigkeit an ihm.
19Hat euch nicht Mose das Gesetz gegeben? und niemand unter euch tut das Gesetz. Warum sucht ihr mich zu töten?
20Das Volk antwortete und sprach: Du hast den Teufel; wer versucht dich zu töten?
21Jesus antwortete und sprach: Ein einziges Werk habe ich getan, und es wundert euch alle.
22Mose hat euch darum gegeben die Beschneidung, nicht daß sie von Mose kommt, sondern von den Vätern, und ihr beschneidet den Menschen am Sabbat.
23So ein Mensch die Beschneidung annimmt am Sabbat, auf daß nicht das Gesetz Mose's gebrochen werde, zürnet ihr denn über mich, daß ich den ganzen Menschen habe am Sabbat gesund gemacht?
24Richtet nicht nach dem Ansehen, sondern richtet ein rechtes Gericht.
25Da sprachen etliche aus Jerusalem: Ist das nicht der, den sie suchten zu töten?
26Und siehe zu, er redet frei, und sie sagen nichts. Erkennen unsere Obersten nun gewiß, daß er gewiß Christus sei?
27Doch wir wissen, woher dieser ist; wenn aber Christus kommen wird, so wird niemand wissen, woher er ist.
28Da rief Jesus im Tempel und sprach: Ja, ihr kennet mich und wisset, woher ich bin; und von mir selbst bin ich nicht gekommen, sondern es ist ein Wahrhaftiger, der mich gesandt hat, welchen ihr nicht kennet.
29Ich kenne ihn aber; denn ich bin von ihm, und er hat mich gesandt.
30Da suchten sie ihn zu greifen; aber niemand legte die Hand an ihn, denn seine Stunde war noch nicht gekommen.
31Aber viele vom Volk glaubten an ihn und sprachen: Wenn Christus kommen wird, wird er auch mehr Zeichen tun, denn dieser tut?
32Und es kam vor die Pharisäer, daß das Volk solches von ihm murmelte. Da sandten die Pharisäer und Hohenpriester Knechte aus, das sie ihn griffen.
33Da sprach Jesus zu ihnen: Ich bin noch eine kleine Zeit bei euch, und dann gehe ich hin zu dem, der mich gesandt hat.
34Ihr werdet mich suchen, und nicht finden; und wo ich bin, könnet ihr nicht hin kommen.
35Da sprachen die Juden untereinander: Wo soll dieser hin gehen, daß wir ihn nicht finden sollen? Will er zu den Zerstreuten unter den Griechen gehen und die Griechen lehren?
36Was ist das für eine Rede, daß er sagte: “Ihr werdet mich suchen, und nicht finden; und wo ich bin, da könnet ihr nicht hin kommen”?
37Aber am letzten Tage des Festes, der am herrlichsten war, trat Jesus auf, rief und sprach: Wen da dürstet, der komme zu mir und trinke!
38Wer an mich glaubt, wie die Schrift sagt, von des Leibe werden Ströme des lebendigen Wassers fließen.
39Das sagte er aber von dem Geist, welchen empfangen sollten, die an ihn glaubten; denn der Heilige Geist war noch nicht da, denn Jesus war noch nicht verklärt.
40Viele nun vom Volk, die diese Rede hörten, sprachen: Dieser ist wahrlich der Prophet.
41Andere sprachen: Er ist Christus. Etliche aber sprachen: Soll Christus aus Galiläa kommen?
42Spricht nicht die Schrift: von dem Samen Davids und aus dem Flecken Bethlehem, da David war, soll Christus kommen?
43Also ward eine Zwietracht unter dem Volk über ihn.
44Es wollten aber etliche ihn greifen; aber niemand legte die Hand an ihn.
45Die Knechte kamen zu den Hohenpriestern und Pharisäern; und sie sprachen zu ihnen: Warum habt ihr ihn nicht gebracht?
46Die Knechte antworteten: Es hat nie ein Mensch also geredet wie dieser Mensch.
47Da antworteten ihnen die Pharisäer: Seid ihr auch verführt?
48Glaubt auch irgendein Oberster oder Pharisäer an ihn?
49sondern das Volk, das nichts vom Gesetz weiß, ist verflucht.
50Spricht zu ihnen Nikodemus, der bei der Nacht zu ihm kam, welcher einer unter ihnen war:
51Richtet unser Gesetz auch einen Menschen, ehe man ihn verhört und erkennt, was er tut?
52Sie antworteten und sprachen zu ihm: Bist du auch ein Galiläer? Forsche und siehe, aus Galiläa steht kein Prophet auf.
53Und ein jeglicher ging also heim.

1Y PASADAS estas cosas andaba Jesús en Galilea: que no quería andar en Judea, porque los Judíos procuraban matarle.
2Y estaba cerca la fiesta de los Judíos, la de los tabernáculos.
3Y dijéronle sus hermanos: Pásate de aquí, y vete á Judea, para que también tus discípulos vean las obras que haces.
4Que ninguno que procura ser claro, hace algo en oculto. Si estas cosas haces, manifiéstate al mundo.
5Porque ni aun sus hermanos creían en él.
6Díceles entonces Jesús: Mi tiempo aun no ha venido; mas vuestro tiempo siempre está presto.
7No puede el mundo aborreceros á vosotros; mas á mí me aborrece, porque yo doy testimonio de él, que sus obras son malas.
8Vosotros subid á esta fiesta; yo no subo aún á esta fiesta, porque mi tiempo aun no es cumplido.
9Y habiéndoles dicho esto, quedóse en Galilea.
10Mas como sus hermanos hubieron subido, entonces él también subió á la fiesta, no manifiestamente, sino como en secreto.
11Y buscábanle los Judíos en la fiesta, y decían: ¿Dónde está aquél?
12Y había grande murmullo de él entre la gente: porque unos decían: Bueno es; y otros decían: No, antes engaña á las gentes.
13Mas ninguno hablaba abiertamente de él, por miedo de los Judíos.
14Y al medio de la fiesta subió Jesús al templo, y enseñaba.
15Y maravillábanse los Judíos, diciendo: ¿Cómo sabe éste letras, no habiendo aprendido?
16Respondióles Jesús, y dijo: Mi doctrina no es mía, sino de aquél que me envió.
17El que quisiere hacer su voluntad, conocerá de la doctrina si viene de Dios, ó si yo hablo de mí mismo.
18El que habla de sí mismo, su propia gloria busca; mas el que busca la gloria del que le envió, éste es verdadero, y no hay en él injusticia.
19¿No os dió Moisés la ley, y ninguno de vosotros hace la ley? ¿Por qué me procuráis matar?
20Respondió la gente, y dijo: Demonio tienes: ¿quién te procura matar?
21Jesús respondió, y díjoles: Una obra hice, y todos os maravilláis.
22Cierto, Moisés os dió la circuncisión (no porque sea de Moisés, mas de los padres); y en sábado circuncidáis al hombre.
23Si recibe el hombre la circuncisión en sábado, para que la ley de Moisés no sea quebrantada, ¿os enojáis conmigo porque en sábado hice sano todo un hombre?
24No juzguéis según lo que parece, mas juzgad justo juicio.
25Decían entonces unos de los de Jerusalem: ¿No es éste al que buscan para matarlo?
26Y he aquí, habla públicamente, y no le dicen nada; ¿si habrán entendido verdaderamente los príncipes, que éste es el Cristo?
27Mas éste, sabemos de dónde es: y cuando viniere el Cristo, nadie sabrá de dónde sea.
28Entonces clamaba Jesús en el templo, enseñando y diciendo: Y á mí me conocéis, y sabéis de dónde soy; y no he venido de mí mismo; mas el que me envió es verdadero, al cual vosotros no conocéis.
29Yo le conozco, porque de él soy, y él me envió.
30Entonces procuraban prenderle; mas ninguno puso en él mano, porque aun no había venido su hora.
31Y muchos del pueblo creyeron en él, y decían: El Cristo, cuando viniere, ¿hará más señales que las que éste hace?
32Los Fariseos oyeron á la gente que murmuraba de él estas cosas; y los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los Fariseos enviaron servidores que le prendiesen.
33Y Jesús dijo: Aun un poco de tiempo estaré con vosotros, é iré al que me envió.
34Me buscaréis, y no me hallaréis; y donde yo estaré, vosotros no podréis venir.
35Entonces los Judíos dijeron entre sí: ¿A dónde se ha de ir éste que no le hallemos? ¿Se ha de ir á los esparcidos entre los Griegos, y á enseñar á los Griegos?
36¿Qué dicho es éste que dijo: Me buscaréis, y no me hallaréis; y donde yo estaré, vosotros no podréis venir?
37Mas en el postrer día grande de la fiesta, Jesús se ponía en pie y clamaba, diciendo: Si alguno tiene sed, venga á mí y beba.
38El que cree en mí, como dice la Escritura, ríos de agua viva correrán de su vientre.
39(Y esto dijo del Espíritu que habían de recibir los que creyesen en él: pues aun no había venido el Espíritu Santo; porque Jesús no estaba aún glorificado.)
40Entonces algunos de la multitud, oyendo este dicho, decían: Verdaderamente éste es el profeta.
41Otros decían: Este es el Cristo. Algunos empero decían: ¿De Galilea ha de venir el Cristo?
42¿No dice la Escritura, que de la simiente de David, y de la aldea de Bethlehem, de donde era David, vendrá el Cristo?
43Así que había disensión entre la gente acerca de él.
44Y algunos de ellos querían prenderle; mas ninguno echó sobre él manos.
45Y los ministriles vinieron á los principales sacerdotes y á los Fariseos; y ellos les dijeron: ¿Por qué no le trajisteis?
46Los ministriles respondieron: Nunca ha hablado hombre así como este hombre.
47Entonces los Fariseos les respondieron: ¿Estáis también vosotros engañados?
48¿Ha creído en él alguno de los príncipes, ó de los Fariseos?
49Mas estos comunales que no saben la ley, malditos son.
50Díceles Nicodemo (el que vino á él de noche, el cual era uno de ellos):
51¿Juzga nuestra ley á hombre, si primero no oyere de él, y entendiere lo que ha hecho?
52Respondieron y dijéronle: ¿Eres tú también Galileo? Escudriña y ve que de Galilea nunca se levantó profeta.
53Y fuése cada uno á su casa.

1After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.
2Now the Jews’ feast of tabernacles was at hand.
3His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judæa, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.
4For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.
5For neither did his brethren believe in him.
6Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.
7The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
8Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.
9When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.
10But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
11Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
12And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.
13Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.
14Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
15And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
16Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
18He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
19Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?
20The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?
21Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.
22Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
23If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?
24Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
25Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?
26But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?
27Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.
28Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
29But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.
30Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.
31And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?
32The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.
33Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.
34Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
35Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
36What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?
37In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
40Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.
41Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
42Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
43So there was a division among the people because of him.
44And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.
45Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?
46The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.
47Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?
48Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?
49But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.
50Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)
51Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?
52They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.
53And every man went unto his own house.

1After these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee, for he wouldn’t walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
2Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was at hand.
3His brothers therefore said to him, “Depart from here and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see your works which you do.
4For no one does anything in secret while he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world.”
5For even his brothers didn’t believe in him.
6Jesus therefore said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
7The world can’t hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.
8You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled.”
9Having said these things to them, he stayed in Galilee.
10But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.
11The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, “Where is he?”
12There was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said, “He is a good man.” Others said, “Not so, but he leads the multitude astray.”
13Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.
14But when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
15The Jews therefore marveled, saying, “How does this man know letters, having never been educated?”
16Jesus therefore answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.
17If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God or if I am speaking from myself.
18He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
19Didn’t Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill me?”
20The multitude answered, “You have a demon! Who seeks to kill you?”
21Jesus answered them, “I did one work and you all marvel because of it.
22Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a boy.
23If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because I made a man completely healthy on the Sabbath?
24Don’t judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”
25Therefore some of them of Jerusalem said, “Isn’t this he whom they seek to kill?
26Behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is truly the Christ?
27However, we know where this man comes from, but when the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from.”
28Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, “You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you don’t know.
29I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”
30They sought therefore to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.
31But of the multitude, many believed in him. They said, “When the Christ comes, he won’t do more signs than those which this man has done, will he?”
32The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
33Then Jesus said, “I will be with you a little while longer, then I go to him who sent me.
34You will seek me and won’t find me. You can’t come where I am.”
35The Jews therefore said among themselves, “Where will this man go that we won’t find him? Will he go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?
36What is this word that he said, ‘You will seek me, and won’t find me;’ and ‘Where I am, you can’t come’?”
37Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!
38He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.”
39But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn’t yet glorified.
40Many of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, “This is truly the prophet.”
41Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “What, does the Christ come out of Galilee?
42Hasn’t the Scripture said that the Christ comes of the offspring of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?”
43So a division arose in the multitude because of him.
44Some of them would have arrested him, but no one laid hands on him.
45The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said to them, “Why didn’t you bring him?”
46The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this man!”
47The Pharisees therefore answered them, “You aren’t also led astray, are you?
48Have any of the rulers or any of the Pharisees believed in him?
49But this multitude that doesn’t know the law is cursed.”
50Nicodemus (he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,
51“Does our law judge a man unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?”
52They answered him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search and see that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.”
53Everyone went to his own house,
