1Pero Jesús se fue al monte de los Olivos.
2A la mañana siguiente regresó al templo. La gente se le acercó, y él se sentó a enseñarles.
3Entonces los maestros de la ley y los fariseos llevaron a una mujer que había sido sorprendida en adulterio. La pusieron en medio del grupo
4y le dijeron a Jesús: ―Maestro, esta mujer ha sido sorprendida en el momento mismo en que cometía adulterio.
5La ley de Moisés nos ordena que debemos apedrear a esa clase de mujeres. ¿Tú qué dices?
6Ellos le estaban poniendo una trampa al hacerle esa pregunta, para así tener de qué acusarlo. Pero Jesús se inclinó y comenzó a escribir en el suelo con su dedo.
7Como seguían haciéndole preguntas, se enderezó y les dijo: ―Aquel de ustedes que nunca haya pecado, tire la primera piedra.
8Y se inclinó de nuevo a seguir escribiendo en el suelo.
9Al oír esto, los más viejos comenzaron a irse, y luego poco a poco los demás también se fueron. Sólo la mujer seguía allí y Jesús se quedó solo con ella.
10Entonces él se enderezó y le preguntó: ―Mujer, ¿dónde están? ¿Nadie te ha condenado?
11Ella dijo: ―Nadie, Señor. ―Yo tampoco te condeno. Vete y no vuelvas a pecar.
12Jesús, una vez más le habló a la gente diciendo: ―Yo soy la luz del mundo. El que me sigue no andará en oscuridad, porque tendrá la luz de la vida.
13Los fariseos le dijeron: ―Tú eres tu propio testigo y por eso tu testimonio no es válido.
14Jesús respondió: ―Aunque yo sea mi propio testigo, mi testimonio es válido. Porque yo sé de dónde vengo y a dónde voy; pero ustedes no saben de dónde vengo ni a dónde voy.
15Ustedes juzgan según criterios humanos; yo, en cambio, no juzgo a nadie.
16Pero si lo hago, mi juicio es de acuerdo con la verdad, porque yo no juzgo por mi cuenta, sino que el Padre que me envió juzga conmigo.
17En la ley de ustedes está escrito que el testimonio de dos personas se considera verdadero.
18Yo mismo soy uno de mis testigos; y mi Padre que me envió es el otro.
19Le preguntaron: ―¿Dónde está tu padre? ―Si me conocieran a mí, también conocerían al Padre.
20Jesús dijo estas palabras mientras enseñaba en el templo, en el lugar donde se ponen las ofrendas. Pero nadie lo arrestó porque todavía no había llegado su tiempo.
21Jesús les dijo una vez más: ―Yo me voy, y ustedes me buscarán, pero morirán en su pecado. A donde yo voy, ustedes no pueden ir.
22Los judíos decían: «¿Será que está pensando suicidarse, y por eso dice que a donde él va nosotros no podemos ir?».
23Jesús continuó diciendo: ―Ustedes son de aquí abajo; yo soy de allá arriba. Ustedes son de este mundo; yo no soy de este mundo.
24Por eso les dije que morirán en sus pecados. Pues si no creen que yo soy el que afirmo ser, morirán en sus pecados.
25Le preguntaron: ―¿Quién eres tú? Jesús les contestó: ―En primer lugar, ¿por qué tengo que darles explicaciones?
26Yo tengo muchas cosas que decir y juzgar de ustedes. Pero el que me envió es verdadero, y yo le repito al mundo lo que le he oído decir a él.
27Pero ellos seguían sin entender que les estaba hablando de Dios.
28Por eso Jesús les dijo: ―Cuando hayan levantado al Hijo del hombre, ustedes comprenderán que yo soy, y que no hago nada por mi propia cuenta, sino que hablo lo que el Padre me ha enseñado.
29El que me envió está conmigo y no me ha dejado solo, porque siempre hago lo que a él le agrada.
30Cuando Jesús dijo todo esto, muchos creyeron en él.
31Entonces Jesús les dijo a los judíos que creyeron en él: ―Si ustedes se mantienen obedientes a mis enseñanzas, serán de verdad mis discípulos.
32Entonces conocerán la verdad, y la verdad los hará libres.
33Ellos le contestaron: ―Nosotros somos descendientes de Abraham y nunca hemos sido esclavos de nadie. ¿Qué quieres decir con eso de que seremos libres?
34Jesús respondió: ―Es bien cierto que el que peca es esclavo del pecado.
35El esclavo no se queda para siempre en la familia; el hijo, en cambio, sí se queda para siempre en la familia.
36Así que si el Hijo los libera, serán libres de verdad.
37Yo sé que ustedes son descendientes de Abraham. Sin embargo, tratan de matarme porque no quieren aceptar mi palabra.
38Yo hablo de lo que he visto al estar con mi Padre. Así también ustedes, hagan lo que del Padre han escuchado.
39Ellos respondieron: ―¡Nuestro padre es Abraham! Él les dijo: ―Si ustedes fueran en verdad sus hijos, harían lo que él hizo.
40Yo les he dicho la verdad que he recibido de Dios, y aun así ustedes quieren matarme. ¡Abraham nunca hizo tal cosa!
41Lo que ustedes hacen es lo que hace su padre. Ellos le respondieron: ―Nosotros no somos hijos que nacieron de prostitución. Nuestro Padre es sólo uno, y es Dios mismo.
42Jesús les contestó: ―Si en verdad Dios fuera su Padre, ustedes me amarían, porque vine de Dios y aquí estoy. No vine por mi propia cuenta, sino porque Dios me envió.
43¿Por qué no entienden lo que les hablo? Porque no pueden aceptar mi mensaje.
44Ustedes son de su padre el diablo y quieren cumplir los deseos de él. Desde el principio el diablo ha sido un asesino, y no se mantiene en la verdad porque no hay verdad en él. Él es mentiroso por naturaleza, y por eso miente. ¡Él es el padre de la mentira!
45Pero a mí, que les digo la verdad, no me creen.
46¿Quién de ustedes me puede probar que he pecado? Si digo la verdad, ¿por qué no me creen?
47El que es de Dios escucha lo que Dios dice. Pero ustedes no escuchan, porque no son de Dios.
48Los judíos respondieron: ―Tenemos razón al decir que eres samaritano, y que estás endemoniado.
49Jesús les respondió: ―No tengo ningún demonio. Lo único que hago es honrar a mi Padre. Ustedes en cambio, me deshonran a mí.
50Yo no busco que me den la gloria a mí; pero hay uno que sí la busca, y él es el que juzga.
51La verdad es que el que obedece mi palabra, nunca morirá.
52Los judíos dijeron: ―Ahora estamos seguros de que estás endemoniado. Abraham murió y también los profetas, pero tú dices que si alguno obedece tu palabra, nunca morirá.
53¿Acaso eres más importante que nuestro padre Abraham? Él murió, y también los profetas murieron. ¿Quién te has creído que eres?
54Jesús les respondió: ―Si yo me doy gloria a mí mismo, mi gloria no sirve de nada. Pero el que me da la gloria es mi Padre, el que ustedes dicen que es su Dios.
55Pero en realidad, ustedes no lo conocen. Yo, en cambio, sí lo conozco. Si yo les dijera que no lo conozco, sería tan mentiroso como ustedes. Pero lo conozco y obedezco su palabra.
56Abraham, el padre de ustedes, se llenó de alegría al pensar que vería mi día; lo vio y se alegró.
57Los judíos le dijeron: ―Todavía no tienes cincuenta años de edad, ¿y ya has visto a Abraham?
58―La verdad es que, antes que Abraham naciera, yo existo.
59Entonces los judíos tomaron piedras para arrojárselas, pero Jesús se escondió y salió del templo.

1Y JESÚS se fué al monte de las Olivas.
2Y por la mañana volvió al templo, y todo el pueblo vino á él: y sentado él, los enseñaba.
3Entonces los escribas y los Fariseos le traen una mujer tomada en adulterio; y poniéndola en medio,
4Dícenle: Maestro, esta mujer ha sido tomada en el mismo hecho, adulterando;
5Y en la ley Moisés nos mandó apedrear á las tales: tú pues, ¿qué dices?
6Mas esto decían tentándole, para poder acusarle. Empero Jesús, inclinado hacia abajo, escribía en tierra con el dedo.
7Y como perseverasen preguntándole, enderezóse, y díjoles: El que de vosotros esté sin pecado, arroje contra ella la piedra el primero.
8Y volviéndose á inclinar hacia abajo, escribía en tierra.
9Oyendo, pues, ellos, redargüidos de la conciencia, salíanse uno á uno, comenzando desde los más viejos hasta los postreros: y quedó solo Jesús, y la mujer que estaba en medio.
10Y enderezándose Jesús, y no viendo á nadie más que á la mujer, díjole: ¿Mujer, dónde están los que te acusaban? ¿Ninguno te ha condenado?
11Y ella dijo: Señor, ninguno. Entonces Jesús le dijo: Ni yo te condeno: vete, y no peques más.
12Y hablóles Jesús otra vez, diciendo: Yo soy la luz del mundo: el que me sigue, no andará en tinieblas, mas tendrá la lumbre de la vida.
13Entonces los Fariseos le dijeron: Tú de ti mismo das testimonio: tu testimonio no es verdadero.
14Respondió Jesús, y díjoles: Aunque yo doy testimonio de mí mismo, mi testimonio es verdadero, porque sé de dónde he venido y á dónde voy; mas vosotros no sabéis de dónde vengo, y á dónde voy.
15Vosotros según la carne juzgáis; mas yo no juzgo á nadie.
16Y si yo juzgo, mi juicio es verdadero; porque no soy solo, sino yo y el que me envió, el Padre.
17Y en vuestra ley está escrito que el testimonio de dos hombres es verdadero.
18Yo soy el que doy testimonio de mí mismo: y da testimonio de mí el que me envió, el Padre.
19Y decíanle: ¿Dónde está tu Padre? Respondió Jesús: Ni á mí me conocéis, ni á mi Padre; si á mí me conocieseis, á mi Padre también conocierais.
20Estas palabras habló Jesús en el lugar de las limosnas, enseñando en el templo: y nadie le prendió; porque aun no había venido su hora.
21Y díjoles otra vez Jesús: Yo me voy, y me buscaréis, mas en vuestro pecado moriréis: á donde yo voy, vosotros no podéis venir.
22Decían entonces los Judíos: ¿Hase de matar á sí mismo, que dice: A donde yo voy, vosotros no podéis venir?
23Y decíales: Vosotros sois de abajo, yo soy de arriba; vosotros sois de este mundo, yo no soy de este mundo.
24Por eso os dije que moriréis en vuestros pecados; porque si no creyereis que yo soy, en vuestros pecados moriréis.
25Y decíanle: ¿Tú quién eres? Entonces Jesús les dijo: El que al principio también os he dicho.
26Muchas cosas tengo que decir y juzgar de vosotros: mas el que me envió, es verdadero: y yo, lo que he oído de él, esto hablo en el mundo.
27Mas no entendieron que él les hablaba del Padre.
28Díjoles pues, Jesús: Cuando levantareis al Hijo del hombre, entonces entenderéis que yo soy, y que nada hago de mí mismo; mas como el Padre me enseñó, esto hablo.
29Porque el que me envió, conmigo está; no me ha dejado solo el Padre; porque yo, lo que á él agrada, hago siempre.
30Hablando él estas cosas, muchos creyeron en él.
31Y decía Jesús á los Judíos que le habían creído: Si vosotros permaneciereis en mi palabra, seréis verdaderamente mis discípulos;
32Y conoceréis la verdad, y la verdad os libertará.
33Y respondiéronle: Simiente de Abraham somos, y jamás servimos á nadie: ¿cómo dices tú: Seréis libres?
34Jesús les respondió: De cierto, de cierto os digo, que todo aquel que hace pecado, es siervo de pecado.
35Y el siervo no queda en casa para siempre: el hijo queda para siempre.
36Así que, si el Hijo os libertare, seréis verdaderamente libres.
37Sé que sois simiente de Abraham, mas procuráis matarme, porque mi palabra no cabe en vosotros.
38Yo hablo lo que he visto cerca del Padre; y vosotros hacéis lo que habéis oído cerca de vuestro padre.
39Respondieron y dijéronle: Nuestro padre es Abraham. Díceles Jesús: Si fuerais hijos de Abraham, las obras de Abraham haríais.
40Empero ahora procuráis matarme, hombre que os he hablado la verdad, la cual he oído de Dios: no hizo esto Abraham.
41Vosotros hacéis las obras de vuestro padre. Dijéronle entonces: Nosotros no somos nacidos de fornicación; un padre tenemos, que es Dios.
42Jesús entonces les dijo: Si vuestro padre fuera Dios, ciertamente me amaríais: porque yo de Dios he salido, y he venido; que no he venido de mí mismo, mas él me envió.
43¿Por qué no reconocéis mi lenguaje? porque no podéis oir mi palabra.
44Vosotros de vuestro padre el diablo sois, y los deseos de vuestro padre queréis cumplir. El, homicida ha sido desde el principio, y no permaneció en la verdad, porque no hay verdad en él. Cuando habla mentira, de suyo habla; porque es mentiroso, y padre de mentira.
45Y porque yo digo verdad, no me creéis.
46¿Quién de vosotros me redarguye de pecado? Pues si digo verdad, ¿por qué vosotros no me creéis?
47El que es de Dios, las palabras de Dios oye: por esto no las oís vosotros, porque no sois de Dios.
48Respondieron entonces los Judíos, y dijéronle: ¿No decimos bien nosotros, que tú eres Samaritano, y tienes demonio?
49Respondió Jesús: Yo no tengo demonio, antes honro á mi Padre; y vosotros me habéis deshonrado.
50Y no busco mi gloria: hay quien la busque, y juzgue.
51De cierto, de cierto os digo, que el que guardare mi palabra, no verá muerte para siempre.
52Entonces los Judíos le dijeron: Ahora conocemos que tienes demonio. Abraham murió, y los profetas, y tú dices: El que guardare mi palabra, no gustará muerte para siempre.
53¿Eres tú mayor que nuestro padre Abraham, el cual murió? y los profetas murieron: ¿quién te haces á ti mismo?
54Respondió Jesús: Si yo me glorifico á mí mismo, mi gloria es nada: mi Padre es el que me glorifica; el que vosotros decís que es vuestro Dios;
55Y no le conocéis: mas yo le conozco; y si dijere que no le conozco, seré como vosotros mentiroso: mas le conozco, y guardo su palabra.
56Abraham vuestro padre se gozó por ver mi día; y lo vió, y se gozó.
57Dijéronle entonces los Judíos: Aun no tienes cincuenta años, ¿y has visto á Abraham?
58Díjoles Jesús: De cierto, de cierto os digo: Antes que Abraham fuese, yo soy.
59Tomaron entonces piedras para tirarle: mas Jesús se encubrió, y salió del templo; y atravesando por medio de ellos, se fué.

1Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
12Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
13The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.
14Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
15Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
16And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
17It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
18I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
19Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
20These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
21Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
22Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.
23And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
24I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
25Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
26I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
27They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
28Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
29And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
30As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
37I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
38I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
39They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
40But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
41Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
46Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
47He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
48Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
49Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.
50And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
51Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
52Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.
53Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
54Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
55Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
56Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
59Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
World English Bible
1but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2Now very early in the morning, he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him. He sat down and taught them.
3The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman taken in adultery. Having set her in the middle,
4they told him, “Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act.
5Now in our law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. What then do you say about her?”
6They said this testing him, that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with his finger.
7But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her.”
8Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground with his finger.
9They, when they heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning from the oldest, even to the last. Jesus was left alone with the woman where she was, in the middle.
10Jesus, standing up, saw her and said, “Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?”
11She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more.”
12Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”
13The Pharisees therefore said to him, “You testify about yourself. Your testimony is not valid.”
14Jesus answered them, “Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you don’t know where I came from, or where I am going.
15You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
16Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.
17It’s also written in your law that the testimony of two people is valid.
18I am one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me.”
19They said therefore to him, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”
20Jesus spoke these words in the treasury, as he taught in the temple. Yet no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.
21Jesus said therefore again to them, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you can’t come.”
22The Jews therefore said, “Will he kill himself, because he says, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come’?”
23He said to them, “You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.
24I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.”
25They said therefore to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.
26I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you. However, he who sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these I say to the world.”
27They didn’t understand that he spoke to them about the Father.
28Jesus therefore said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as my Father taught me, I say these things.
29He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”
30As he spoke these things, many believed in him.
31Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples.
32You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
33They answered him, “We are Abraham’s offspring, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How do you say, ‘You will be made free’?”
34Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin.
35A bondservant doesn’t live in the house forever. A son remains forever.
36If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
37I know that you are Abraham’s offspring, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.
38I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have seen with your father.”
39They answered him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.
40But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham didn’t do this.
41You do the works of your father.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.”
42Therefore Jesus said to them, “If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I haven’t come of myself, but he sent me.
43Why don’t you understand my speech? Because you can’t hear my word.
44You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.
45But because I tell the truth, you don’t believe me.
46Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?
47He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you don’t hear, because you are not of God.”
48Then the Jews answered him, “Don’t we say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?”
49Jesus answered, “I don’t have a demon, but I honor my Father and you dishonor me.
50But I don’t seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges.
51Most certainly, I tell you, if a person keeps my word, he will never see death.”
52Then the Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, as did the prophets; and you say, ‘If a man keeps my word, he will never taste of death.’
53Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?”
54Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is our God.
55You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, ‘I don’t know him,’ I would be like you, a liar. But I know him and keep his word.
56Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it and was glad.”
57The Jews therefore said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old! Have you seen Abraham?”
58Jesus said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM.”
59Therefore they took up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple, having gone through the middle of them, and so passed by.
