Job 10

L'anima mia si annoia della mia vita. Io mi lascerò scorrere addosso il mio lamento; Io parlerò nell'amaritudine dell'anima mia.

ESTÁ mi alma aburrida de mi vida: daré yo suelta á mi queja sobre mí, hablaré con amargura de mi alma.

My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

Io dirò a Dio: Non condannarmi; Fammi assapere perchè tu litighi meco.

Diré á Dios: no me condenes; hazme entender por qué pleiteas conmigo.

I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.

I will tell God, ‘Do not condemn me. Show me why you contend with me.

Ti par egli ben fatto di oppressare, Di sdegnar l'opera delle tue mani, E di risplendere sopra il consiglio degli empi?

¿Parécete bien que oprimas, que deseches la obra de tus manos, y que resplandezcas sobre el consejo de los impíos?

Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?

Is it good to you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of your hands, and smile on the counsel of the wicked?

Hai tu occhi di carne? Vedi tu come vede l'uomo?

¿Tienes tú ojos de carne? ¿ves tú como ve el hombre?

Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth?

Do you have eyes of flesh? Or do you see as man sees?

Sono i tuoi giorni come i giorni dell'uomo mortale? Sono i tuoi anni come l'età umana?

¿Son tus días como los días del hombre, ó tus años como los tiempos humanos,

Are thy days as the days of man? are thy years as man’s days,

Are your days as the days of mortals, or your years as man’s years,

Che tu faccia inchiesta della mia iniquità, E prenda informazione del mio peccato?

Para que inquieras mi iniquidad, y busques mi pecado,

That thou enquirest after mine iniquity, and searchest after my sin?

that you inquire after my iniquity, and search after my sin?

A te si appartiene di conoscere che io non son reo; E non vi è niuno che riscuota dalla tua mano.

Sobre saber tú que no soy impío, y que no hay quien de tu mano libre?

Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of thine hand.

Although you know that I am not wicked, there is no one who can deliver out of your hand.

Le tue mani mi hanno formato e composto; E tu mi distruggi tutto quanto d'ogn'intorno.

Tus manos me formaron y me compusieron todo en contorno: ¿y así me deshaces?

Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.

“‘Your hands have framed me and fashioned me altogether, yet you destroy me.

Deh! ricordati che tu mi hai formato come dell'argilla; E tu mi fai ritornare in polvere.

Acuérdate ahora que como á lodo me diste forma: ¿y en polvo me has de tornar?

Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?

Remember, I beg you, that you have fashioned me as clay. Will you bring me into dust again?

Non mi hai tu colato come latte, E fatto rappigliar come un cacio?

¿No me fundiste como leche, y como un queso me cuajaste?

Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?

Haven’t you poured me out like milk, and curdled me like cheese?

Tu mi hai vestito di pelle e di carne E mi hai contesto d'ossa e di nervi.

Vestísteme de piel y carne, y cubrísteme de huesos y nervios.

Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews.

You have clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews.

Tu mi hai data la vita, ed hai usata benignità inverso me; E la tua cura ha guardato lo spirito mio.

Vida y misericordia me concediste, y tu visitación guardó mi espíritu.

Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.

You have granted me life and loving kindness. Your visitation has preserved my spirit.

E pur tu avevi riposte queste cose nel cuor tuo; Io conosco che questo era appo te.

Y estas cosas tienes guardadas en tu corazón; yo sé que esto está cerca de ti.

And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee.

Yet you hid these things in your heart. I know that this is with you:

Se io ho peccato, tu mi hai notato, E non mi hai assolto della mia iniquità.

Si pequé, tú me has observado, y no me limpias de mi iniquidad.

If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt not acquit me from mine iniquity.

if I sin, then you mark me. You will not acquit me from my iniquity.

Se io sono stato reo, guai a me; E se son giusto, non però alzo il capo, Essendo sazio d'ignominia, e veggendo la mia afflizione;

Si fuere malo, ¡ay de mí! y si fuere justo, no levantaré mi cabeza, estando harto de deshonra, y de verme afligido.

If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction;

If I am wicked, woe to me. If I am righteous, I still will not lift up my head, being filled with disgrace, and conscious of my affliction.

E se pur l'alzo, tu mi cacci a giusa di fiero leone, E torni a dimostrarti maraviglioso contro a me.

Y subirá de punto, pues me cazas como á león, y tornas á hacer en mí maravillas.

For it increaseth. Thou huntest me as a fierce lion: and again thou shewest thyself marvellous upon me.

If my head is held high, you hunt me like a lion. Again you show yourself powerful to me.

Tu mi produci in faccia nuovi testimoni tuoi; Tu accresci la tua indegnazione contro a me; Eserciti a muta sono sopra me.

Renuevas contra mí tus plagas, y aumentas conmigo tu furor, remudándose sobre mí ejércitos.

Thou renewest thy witnesses against me, and increasest thine indignation upon me; changes and war are against me.

You renew your witnesses against me, and increase your indignation on me. Changes and warfare are with me.

Perchè dunque mi hai tratto fuor della matrice? Io vi sarei spirato, e l'occhio d'alcuno non mi avrebbe veduto.

¿Por qué me sacaste de la matriz? Habría yo espirado, y no me vieran ojos.

Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me!

“‘Why, then, have you brought me out of the womb? I wish I had given up the spirit, and no eye had seen me.

Io sarei stato come se non avessi giammai avuto essere; Io sarei stato portato dal seno alla sepoltura.

Fuera, como si nunca hubiera sido, llevado desde el vientre á la sepultura.

I should have been as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.

I should have been as though I had not been. I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.

I miei giorni non sono eglino poca cosa? cessa dunque, E rimanti da me, sì che io mi rinforzi un poco;

¿No son mis días poca cosa? Cesa pues, y déjame, para que me conforte un poco.

Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,

Aren’t my days few? Stop! Leave me alone, that I may find a little comfort,

Avanti che io me ne vada alla terra delle tenebre, Dell'ombra della morte, onde mai non tornerò;

Antes que vaya para no volver, á la tierra de tinieblas y de sombra de muerte;

Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;

before I go where I will not return from, to the land of darkness and of the shadow of death;

Alla terra d'oscurità simile a caligine; D'ombra di morte, ove non è ordine alcuno; E la quale, quando fa chiaro, è simile a caligine.

Tierra de oscuridad, lóbrega como sombra de muerte, sin orden, y que aparece como la oscuridad misma.

A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.

the land dark as midnight, of the shadow of death, without any order, where the light is as midnight.’”
