Y RESPONDIÓ Sophar Naamathita, y dijo:
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
Then Zophar, the Naamathite, answered,
“¿Acaso no habrá respuesta para tantas palabras? ¿Crees que por hablar mucho tienes la razón?
¿Las muchas palabras no han de tener respuesta? ¿y el hombre parlero será justificado?
Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?
“Shouldn’t the multitude of words be answered? Should a man full of talk be justified?
¿Piensas que tus mentiras nos van a callar a todos? ¿Te vas a burlar de Dios sin que nadie te ponga en vergüenza?
¿Harán tus falacias callar á los hombres? ¿y harás escarnio, y no habrá quien te avergüence?
Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?
Should your boastings make men hold their peace? When you mock, will no man make you ashamed?
Tú afirmas: ‘Lo que enseño es puro y soy inocente ante los ojos de Dios’.
Tú dices: Mi conversar es puro, y yo soy limpio delante de tus ojos.
For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
For you say, ‘My doctrine is pure. I am clean in your eyes.’
¡Cómo quisiera que Dios mismo hablara y abriera sus labios para responderte!
Mas ¡oh quién diera que Dios hablara, y abriera sus labios contigo,
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against you,
Él te mostraría los secretos de la sabiduría, porque la verdadera sabiduría tiene muchos lados. Reconozcan, pues, que Dios les está cobrando menos de lo que su maldad merece.
Y que te declarara los arcanos de la sabiduría, que son de doble valor que la hacienda! Conocerías entonces que Dios te ha castigado menos que tu iniquidad merece.
And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.
that he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For true wisdom has two sides. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.
“¿Acaso puedes entender los misterios de Dios? ¿Puedes explorar los límites del Todopoderoso?
¿Alcanzarás tú el rastro de Dios? ¿llegarás tú á la perfección del Todopoderoso?
Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?
“Can you fathom the mystery of God? Or can you probe the limits of the Almighty?
Son más altos que los cielos; ¿qué puedes hacer tú? Son más profundos que el lugar de los muertos; ¿qué puedes saber tú?
Es más alto que los cielos: ¿qué harás? Es más profundo que el infierno: ¿cómo lo conocerás?
It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?
They are high as heaven. What can you do? They are deeper than Sheol. What can you know?
Su grandeza es más extensa que la tierra y más ancha que el mar.
Su dimensión es más larga que la tierra, y más ancha que la mar.
The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
Its measure is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
Si él pasa y te arresta, o si te llama a juicio, ¿quién se le puede oponer?
Si cortare, ó encerrare, ó juntare, ¿quién podrá contrarrestarle?
If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?
If he passes by, or confines, or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?
Porque él conoce bien a los mentirosos; cuando ve la maldad, no la pasa por alto.
Porque él conoce á los hombres vanos: ve asimismo la iniquidad, ¿y no hará caso?
For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?
For he knows false men. He sees iniquity also, even though he doesn’t consider it.
El hombre necio se hará sabio el día que una cría de burro salvaje nazca siendo persona.
El hombre vano se hará entendido, aunque nazca como el pollino del asno montés.
For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass’s colt.
An empty-headed man becomes wise when a man is born as a wild donkey’s colt.
“Pero si tú preparas tu corazón y levantas tus manos hacia él en oración;
Si tú apercibieres tu corazón, y extendieres á él tus manos;
If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;
“If you set your heart aright, stretch out your hands toward him.
si te alejas de la maldad que tienes en las manos y no dejas que la injusticia viva en tu casa,
Si alguna iniquidad hubiere en tu mano, y la echares de ti, y no consintieres que more maldad en tus habitaciones;
If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.
If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away. Don’t let unrighteousness dwell in your tents.
entonces podrás levantar la frente limpia de pecado; estarás firme y no tendrás miedo.
Entonces levantarás tu rostro limpio de mancha, y serás fuerte y no temerás:
For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:
Surely then you will lift up your face without spot. Yes, you will be steadfast, and will not fear,
Olvidarás tus sufrimientos, o los recordarás como agua que ya pasó.
Y olvidarás tu trabajo, ó te acordarás de él como de aguas que pasaron:
Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
for you will forget your misery. You will remember it like waters that have passed away.
Tu vida será más brillante que el sol del mediodía, y hasta tus momentos oscuros brillarán como el amanecer.
Y en mitad de la siesta se levantará bonanza; resplandecerás, y serás como la mañana:
And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.
Life will be clearer than the noonday. Though there is darkness, it will be as the morning.
Vivirás tranquilo porque hay esperanza; te sentirás protegido y dormirás seguro.
Y confiarás, que habrá esperanza; y cavarás, y dormirás seguro:
And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.
You will be secure, because there is hope. Yes, you will search, and will take your rest in safety.
Descansarás sin que nadie te asuste, y muchos buscarán ganarse tu favor.
Y te acostarás, y no habrá quien te espante: y muchos te rogarán.
Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.
Also you will lie down, and no one will make you afraid. Yes, many will court your favor.
Pero a los malvados se les cansará la vista buscando ayuda; no tendrán a dónde huir, y su única esperanza será la muerte”.
Mas los ojos de los malos se consumirán, y no tendrán refugio; y su esperanza será agonía del alma.
But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.
But the eyes of the wicked will fail. They will have no way to flee. Their hope will be the giving up of the spirit.”
