EL HOMBRE nacido de mujer, corto de días, y harto de sinsabores:
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

Il tombe comme une fleur s'épanouit ; il passe comme une ombre ; il n's'arrête jamais.
Que sale como una flor y es cortado; y huye como la sombra, y no permanece.
He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

N'est-ce pas de vous qu'il tient sa raison ? Et n'est-ce point vous qui l'appelez devant vous pour être jugé ?
¿Y sobre éste abres tus ojos, y me traes á juicio contigo?
And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?

Qui sera exempt de souillure ? Personne.
¿Quién hará limpio de inmundo? Nadie.

Sa vie sur la terre n'eût-elle duré qu'un jour. L'homme peut supputer lui- même le nombre de ses mois ; vous avez fixé le terme ; nul ne le dépasse.
Ciertamente sus días están determinados, y el número de sus meses está cerca de ti: tú le pusiste términos, de los cuales no pasará.
Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;

Détournez-vous donc de lui afin qu'il se repose et qu'il se complaise en sa vie, comme le travailleur à gages.
Si tú lo dejares, él dejará de ser: entre tanto deseará, como el jornalero, su día.
Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.

L'arbre ne perd point toute espérance ; si on le taille, il fleurira encore, et il ne manquera pas de rejetons.

For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

Si se envejeciere en la tierra su raíz, y su tronco fuere muerto en el polvo,
Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;

La senteur de l'eau le ranimera, et il portera des fruits comme un jeune plant.
Al percibir el agua reverdecerá, y hará copa como planta.
Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.

L'homme meurt et il disparaît ; le mortel tombe et il n'est plus.

La mer à la longue s'appauvrit ; le fleuve abandonné à lui-même se dessèche ;
Las aguas de la mar se fueron, y agotóse el río, secóse.
As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:

L'homme une fois couché ne se relèvera pas que le ciel ne se dissolve ; les morts ne sortiront pas de leur sommeil.
Así el hombre yace, y no se tornará á levantar: hasta que no haya cielo no despertarán, ni se levantarán de su sueño.
So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

Puissiez-vous me garder dans les enfers ; et me cacher jusqu'à ce que votre courroux s'apaise ; et me marquer le temps où vous vous souviendrez de moi.
¡Oh quién me diera que me escondieses en el sepulcro, que me encubrieras hasta apaciguarse tu ira, que me pusieses plazo, y de mí te acordaras!
O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
“Oh that you would hide me in Sheol, that you would keep me secret until your wrath is past, that you would appoint me a set time and remember me!
Car l'homme sera mort, lorsqu'il aura remplit les jours de sa vie, il vivra. J'attendrai jusqu'à ce que je renaisse.
Si el hombre muriere, ¿volverá á vivir? Todos los días de mi edad esperaré, hasta que venga mi mutación.
If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
If a man dies, will he live again? I would wait all the days of my warfare, until my release should come.
Vous m'appellerez alors et je vous obéirai : ne rejetez donc pas les œuvres de vos mains.
Aficionado á la obra de tus manos, llamarás, y yo te responderé.
Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
You would call, and I would answer you. You would have a desire for the work of your hands.
Vous avez compté mes actions et nulle de mes fautes ne vous est échappée.
Pues ahora me cuentas los pasos, y no das tregua á mi pecado.
For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
But now you count my steps. Don’t you watch over my sin?
Vous avez scellé mes péchés dans un sac ; vous avez mis un signe à ceux que la contrainte m'a fait commettre.
Tienes sellada en saco mi prevaricación, y coacervas mi iniquidad.
My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
My disobedience is sealed up in a bag. You fasten up my iniquity.
Mais les monts s'écroulent, les roches sont déracinées ;
Y ciertamente el monte que cae se deshace, y las peñas son traspasadas de su lugar;
And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
“But the mountain falling comes to nothing. The rock is removed out of its place.
Les eaux aplanissent la pierre ; les ondes couvrent les hautes cimes des monts ; et vous avez détruit la patience de l'homme.
Las piedras son desgastadas con el agua impetuosa, que se lleva el polvo de la tierra: de tal manera haces tú perecer la esperanza del hombre.
The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.

Vous l'avez poussé à la mort et il est parti ; vous avez tourné vers lui votre visage et vous l'avez congédié.
Para siempre serás más fuerte que él, y él se va; demudarás su rostro, y enviaráslo.
Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
You forever prevail against him, and he departs. You change his face, and send him away.
Des fils nombreux sont issus de lui et il n'en sait rien ; sa postérité n'est pas nombreuse ; il l'ignore.
Sus hijos serán honrados, y él no lo sabrá; ó serán humillados, y no entenderá de ellos.
His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.

Mais ses chairs ont connu la souffrance et son âme a été affligée.
Mas su carne sobre él se dolerá, y entristecerse ha en él su alma.
But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
