Por acaso o sábio dará como resposta vão conhecimento, e encherá seu ventre de vento oriental?
¿Si proferirá el sabio vana sabiduría, y henchirá su vientre de viento solano?
Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
“Should a wise man answer with vain knowledge, and fill himself with the east wind?
Repreenderá com palavras que nada servem, e com argumentos que de nada aproveitam?
¿Disputará con palabras inútiles, y con razones sin provecho?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches with which he can do no good?
Porém tu destróis o temor, e menosprezas a oração diante de Deus.
Tú también disipas el temor, y menoscabas la oración delante de Dios.
Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
Yes, you do away with fear, and hinder devotion before God.
Pois tua perversidade conduz tua boca, e tu escolheste a língua dos astutos.
Porque tu boca declaró tu iniquidad, pues has escogido el hablar de los astutos.
For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.
Tua boca te condena, e não eu; e teus lábios dão testemunho contra ti.

Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

Por acaso foste tu o primeiro ser humano a nascer? Ou foste gerado antes dos morros?
¿Naciste tú primero que Adam? ¿ó fuiste formado antes que los collados?
Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
“Are you the first man who was born? Or were you brought out before the hills?
Ouviste tu o segredo de Deus? Reténs tu apenas contigo a sabedoria?
¿Oíste tú el secreto de Dios, que detienes en ti solo la sabiduría?
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
O que tu sabes que nós não saibamos? O que tu entendes que não tenhamos entendido ?
¿Qué sabes tú que no sepamos? ¿qué entiendes que no se halle en nosotros?
What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
What do you know that we don’t know? What do you understand which is not in us?
Entre nós também há os que tenham cabelos grisalhos, também há os que são muito mais idosos que teu pai.
Entre nosotros también hay cano, también hay viejo mucho mayor en días que tu padre.
With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

Por acaso as consolações de Deus te são poucas? As mansas palavras voltadas a ti?
¿En tan poco tienes las consolaciones de Dios? ¿tienes acaso alguna cosa oculta cerca de ti?
Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
Are the consolations of God too small for you, even the word that is gentle toward you?
Por que o teu coração te arrebata, e por que centelham teus olhos,
¿Por qué te enajena tu corazón, y por qué guiñan tus ojos,
Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
Why does your heart carry you away? Why do your eyes flash,
Para que vires teu espírito contra Deus, e deixes sair tais tais palavras de tua boca?
Pues haces frente á Dios con tu espíritu, y sacas tales palabras de tu boca?
That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?
that you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?
O que é o homem, para que seja puro? E o nascido de mulher, para que seja justo?
¿Qué cosa es el hombre para que sea limpio, y que se justifique el nacido de mujer?
What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
What is man, that he should be clean? What is he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
Eis que Deus não confia em seus santos, nem os céus são puros diante de seus olhos;
He aquí que en sus santos no confía, y ni los cielos son limpios delante de sus ojos:
Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

Quanto menos o homem, abominável e corrupto, que bebe a maldade como água?
¿Cuánto menos el hombre abominable y vil, que bebe la iniquidad como agua?
How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water!
Escuta-me; eu te mostrarei; eu te contarei o que vi.
Escúchame; yo te mostraré y te contaré lo que he visto:
I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
“I will show you, listen to me; that which I have seen I will declare
(O que os sábios contaram, o que não foi encoberto por seus pais,
(Lo que los sabios nos contaron de sus padres, y no lo encubrieron;
Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:
(which wise men have told by their fathers, and have not hidden it;
A somente os quais a terra foi dada, e estranho nenhum passou por meio deles):
A los cuales solos fué dada la tierra, y no pasó extraño por medio de ellos:)
Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.

Todos os dias do perverso são sofrimento para si, o número de anos reservados ao opressor.
Todos los días del impío, él es atormentado de dolor, y el número de años es escondido al violento.
The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.

Ruídos de horrores estão em seus ouvidos; até na paz lhe sobrevém o assolador.
Estruendos espantosos hay en sus oídos; en la paz le vendrá quien lo asuele.
A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.
Ele não crê que voltará da escuridão; ao contrário, a espada o espera.
El no creerá que ha de volver de las tinieblas, y está mirando al cuchillo.
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
He doesn’t believe that he will return out of darkness. He is waited for by the sword.
Anda vagueando por comida, onde quer que ela esteja. Ele sabe que o dia das trevas está prestes a acontecer.
Desasosegado á comer siempre, sabe que le está aparejado día de tinieblas.
He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
He wanders abroad for bread, saying, ‘Where is it?’ He knows that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
Angústia e aflição o assombram, e prevalecem contra ele como um rei preparado para a batalha;
Tribulación y angustia le asombrarán, y esforzaránse contra él como un rey apercibido para la batalla.
Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

Porque ele estendeu sua mão contra Deus, e se embraveceu contra o Todo-Poderoso,
Por cuanto él extendió su mano contra Dios, y se esforzó contra el Todopoderoso,
For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty,
Corre contra ele com dureza de pescoço, e como seus escudos grossos e levantados.
El le acometerá en la cerviz, en lo grueso de las hombreras de sus escudos:
He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
he runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick shields of his bucklers,
Porque cobriu seu rosto com sua gordura, e engordou as laterais de seu corpo.
Porque cubrió su rostro con su gordura, é hizo pliegues sobre los ijares;
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
because he has covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat on his thighs.
E habitou em cidades desoladas cidades, em casas desabitadas; que estavam prestes a desmoronar.
Y habitó las ciudades asoladas, las casas inhabitadas, que estaban puestas en montones.
And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.

Ele não enriquecerá, nem seu patrimônio subsistirá, nem suas riquezas se estenderão pela terra.

He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.

Não escapará das trevas; a chama secará seus ramos, e ao sopro de sua boca desparecerá.

He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.

Não confie ele na ilusão para ser enganado; pois a sua recompensa será nada.
No confíe el iluso en la vanidad; porque ella será su recompensa.
Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself, for emptiness will be his reward.
Não sendo ainda seu tempo, ela se cumprirá; e seu ramo não florescerá.

Pois a ajuntamento dos hipócritas será estéril, e fogo consumirá as tendas do suborno.

For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
For the company of the godless will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.
Eles concebem a maldade, e dão à luz a perversidade; e o ventre deles prepara enganos.
Concibieron dolor, y parieron iniquidad; y las entrañas de ellos meditan engaño.
They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
