Wird ein Weiser windige Erkenntnis antworten, und wird er sein Inneres füllen mit Ostwind,
¿Si proferirá el sabio vana sabiduría, y henchirá su vientre de viento solano?
Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
“Should a wise man answer with vain knowledge, and fill himself with the east wind?
streitend mit Reden, die nichts taugen, und mit Worten, womit er nicht nützt?
¿Disputará con palabras inútiles, y con razones sin provecho?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches with which he can do no good?
Ja, du vernichtest die Gottesfurcht und schmälerst die Andacht vor Gott.
Tú también disipas el temor, y menoscabas la oración delante de Dios.
Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
Yes, you do away with fear, and hinder devotion before God.
Denn deine Ungerechtigkeit belehrt deinen Mund, und du wählst die Sprache der Listigen.
Porque tu boca declaró tu iniquidad, pues has escogido el hablar de los astutos.
For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.

Dein Mund verdammt dich, und nicht ich; und deine Lippen zeugen wider dich.

Bist du als Erster zum Menschen gezeugt, und vor den Hügeln du geboren?

Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
“Are you the first man who was born? Or were you brought out before the hills?
Hast du im Rate Gottes zugehört, und die Weisheit an dich gerissen?
¿Oíste tú el secreto de Dios, que detienes en ti solo la sabiduría?
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
Was weißt du, das wir nicht wüßten, was verstehst du, das uns nicht bekannt wäre?
¿Qué sabes tú que no sepamos? ¿qué entiendes que no se halle en nosotros?
What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
What do you know that we don’t know? What do you understand which is not in us?
Unter uns sind auch Alte, auch Greise, reicher an Tagen als dein Vater.
Entre nosotros también hay cano, también hay viejo mucho mayor en días que tu padre.
With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

Sind dir zu wenig die Tröstungen Gottes, und ein sanftes Wort an dich zu gering?

Was reißt dein Herz dich hin, und was zwinken deine Augen,

Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,

daß du gegen Gott dein Schnauben kehrst, und Reden hervorgehen lässest aus deinem Munde?
Pues haces frente á Dios con tu espíritu, y sacas tales palabras de tu boca?
That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?

Was ist der Mensch, daß er rein sein sollte, und der vom Weibe Geborene, daß er gerecht wäre?
¿Qué cosa es el hombre para que sea limpio, y que se justifique el nacido de mujer?
What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

Siehe, auf seine Heiligen vertraut er nicht, und die Himmel sind nicht rein in seinen Augen:
He aquí que en sus santos no confía, y ni los cielos son limpios delante de sus ojos:
Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water!
Ich will dir's berichten, höre mir zu; und was ich gesehen, will ich erzählen,

was die Weisen verkündigt und nicht verhehlt haben von ihren Vätern her, -

ihnen allein war das Land übergeben, und kein Fremder zog durch ihre Mitte; -

Alle seine Tage wird der Gesetzlose gequält, und eine kleine Zahl von Jahren ist dem Gewalttätigen aufgespart.

The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.

Die Stimme von Schrecknissen ist in seinen Ohren, im Frieden kommt der Verwüster über ihn;
Estruendos espantosos hay en sus oídos; en la paz le vendrá quien lo asuele.
A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.
er glaubt nicht an eine Rückkehr aus der Finsternis, und er ist ausersehen für das Schwert.
El no creerá que ha de volver de las tinieblas, y está mirando al cuchillo.
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
He doesn’t believe that he will return out of darkness. He is waited for by the sword.
Er schweift umher nach Brot, wo es finden? Er weiß, daß neben ihm ein Tag der Finsternis bereitet ist.
Desasosegado á comer siempre, sabe que le está aparejado día de tinieblas.
He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

wider ihn anrannte mit gerecktem Halse, mit den dichten Buckeln seiner Schilde;
El le acometerá en la cerviz, en lo grueso de las hombreras de sus escudos:
He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
he runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick shields of his bucklers,
weil er sein Angesicht bedeckt hat mit seinem Fette und Schmer angesetzt an den Lenden;
Porque cubrió su rostro con su gordura, é hizo pliegues sobre los ijares;
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
because he has covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat on his thighs.
und zerstörte Städte bewohnte, Häuser, die nicht bewohnt werden sollten, die zu Steinhaufen bestimmt waren:
Y habitó las ciudades asoladas, las casas inhabitadas, que estaban puestas en montones.
And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.

so wird er nicht reich werden, und sein Vermögen wird keinen Bestand haben; und nicht neigt sich zur Erde, was solche besitzen.
No enriquecerá, ni será firme su potencia, ni extenderá por la tierra su hermosura.
He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.

Er entweicht nicht der Finsternis; seine Schößlinge versengt die Flamme; und er muß weichen durch den Hauch seines Mundes. -

He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.

Er verlasse sich nicht auf Nichtiges, er wird getäuscht; denn Nichtiges wird seine Vergeltung sein.

For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
