»Wird wohl ein Weiser windiges Wissen als Antwort vortragen und seine Lunge mit (bloßem) Ostwind blähen,
¿Si proferirá el sabio vana sabiduría, y henchirá su vientre de viento solano?
Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
“Should a wise man answer with vain knowledge, and fill himself with the east wind?
um sich mit Reden zu verantworten, die nichts taugen, und mit Worten, durch die er nichts nützt?
¿Disputará con palabras inútiles, y con razones sin provecho?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches with which he can do no good?
Dazu vernichtest du die fromme Scheu und tust der Andachtsstille Abbruch, die Gott gebührt;
Tú también disipas el temor, y menoscabas la oración delante de Dios.
Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
Yes, you do away with fear, and hinder devotion before God.
denn dein Schuldbewußtsein macht deinen Mund beredt, und du wählst die Sprache der Verschmitzten.
Porque tu boca declaró tu iniquidad, pues has escogido el hablar de los astutos.
For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.
Dein eigener Mund verurteilt dich, nicht ich, und deine eigenen Lippen zeugen gegen dich.
Tu boca te condenará, y no yo; y tus labios testificarán contra ti.
Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

Bist du etwa als erster der Menschen geboren und noch vor den Bergen auf die Welt gekommen?
¿Naciste tú primero que Adam? ¿ó fuiste formado antes que los collados?
Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
“Are you the first man who was born? Or were you brought out before the hills?
Hast du im Rate Gottes als Zuhörer gelauscht und dort die Weisheit an dich gerissen?
¿Oíste tú el secreto de Dios, que detienes en ti solo la sabiduría?
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
Was weißt du denn, das wir nicht auch wüßten? was verstehst du, das uns nicht auch bekannt wäre?
¿Qué sabes tú que no sepamos? ¿qué entiendes que no se halle en nosotros?
What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?
What do you know that we don’t know? What do you understand which is not in us?
Auch unter uns sind Ergraute, sind Weißköpfe, reicher noch als dein Vater an Lebenstagen.
Entre nosotros también hay cano, también hay viejo mucho mayor en días que tu padre.
With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.
With us are both the gray-headed and the very aged men, much older than your father.
Sind dir die Tröstungen Gottes minderwertig, und gilt ein Wort der Sanftmut nichts bei dir?
¿En tan poco tienes las consolaciones de Dios? ¿tienes acaso alguna cosa oculta cerca de ti?
Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
Are the consolations of God too small for you, even the word that is gentle toward you?
Was reißt deine Leidenschaft dich fort, und was rollen deine Augen,
¿Por qué te enajena tu corazón, y por qué guiñan tus ojos,
Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
Why does your heart carry you away? Why do your eyes flash,
daß du gegen Gott deine Wut richtest und (solche) Reden deinem Munde entfahren läßt?
Pues haces frente á Dios con tu espíritu, y sacas tales palabras de tu boca?
That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?
that you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?
Was ist der Mensch, daß er rein sein könnte, und der vom Weibe Geborene, daß er als gerecht dastände?
¿Qué cosa es el hombre para que sea limpio, y que se justifique el nacido de mujer?
What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
What is man, that he should be clean? What is he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
Bedenke doch: selbst seinen heiligen (Engeln) traut er nicht, und nicht einmal der Himmel ist rein in seinen Augen:
He aquí que en sus santos no confía, y ni los cielos son limpios delante de sus ojos:
Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
Behold, he puts no trust in his holy ones. Yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight;
geschweige denn der Abscheuliche und Entartete, der Mensch, dem Unrechttun wie Wassertrinken ist!«
¿Cuánto menos el hombre abominable y vil, que bebe la iniquidad como agua?
How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water!
»Ich will dich unterweisen: höre mir zu; und was ich gesehen habe, will ich berichten,
Escúchame; yo te mostraré y te contaré lo que he visto:
I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;
“I will show you, listen to me; that which I have seen I will declare
was die Weisen von ihren Vätern überkommen und ohne Hehl verkündigt haben –
(Lo que los sabios nos contaron de sus padres, y no lo encubrieron;
Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:

ihnen war noch allein das Land übergeben, und noch kein Fremder war unter ihnen umhergezogen –:
A los cuales solos fué dada la tierra, y no pasó extraño por medio de ellos:)

›Sein ganzes Leben lang muß der Frevler sich ängstigen, und zwar alle die Jahre hindurch, die dem Gewalttätigen beschieden sind.
Todos los días del impío, él es atormentado de dolor, y el número de años es escondido al violento.
The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
the wicked man writhes in pain all his days, even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor.
Schreckensrufe dringen ihm laut ins Ohr; mitten im ruhigen Glück überfällt ihn der Verderber;
Estruendos espantosos hay en sus oídos; en la paz le vendrá quien lo asuele.
A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.
er hegt keine Zuversicht, aus der Finsternis wieder herauszukommen, und ist (in seiner Angst) für das Schwert ausersehen.
El no creerá que ha de volver de las tinieblas, y está mirando al cuchillo.
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
He doesn’t believe that he will return out of darkness. He is waited for by the sword.
Er irrt nach Brot umher – wo findet er’s? Er weiß, daß durch ihn der Tag des Verderbens festgesetzt ist.
Desasosegado á comer siempre, sabe que le está aparejado día de tinieblas.
He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
He wanders abroad for bread, saying, ‘Where is it?’ He knows that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
Angst und Bangigkeit schrecken ihn: sie überwältigen ihn wie ein König, der zum Sturm gerüstet ist.
Tribulación y angustia le asombrarán, y esforzaránse contra él como un rey apercibido para la batalla.
Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

Weil er seine Hand gegen Gott erhoben und dem Allmächtigen Trotz geboten hat –
Por cuanto él extendió su mano contra Dios, y se esforzó contra el Todopoderoso,
For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty,
er stürmte gegen ihn an mit emporgerecktem Halse, mit den dichten Buckeln seiner Schilde –
El le acometerá en la cerviz, en lo grueso de las hombreras de sus escudos:
He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
he runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick shields of his bucklers,
weil er sein Gesicht von Fett hatte strotzen lassen und Schmer an seinen Lenden angesetzt
Porque cubrió su rostro con su gordura, é hizo pliegues sobre los ijares;
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
because he has covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat on his thighs.
und sich in gebannten Städten angesiedelt hatte, in Häusern, die unbewohnt bleiben sollten, die zu Trümmerhaufen bestimmt waren:
Y habitó las ciudades asoladas, las casas inhabitadas, que estaban puestas en montones.
And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
He has lived in desolate cities, in houses which no one inhabited, which were ready to become heaps.
so bringt er’s nicht zu Reichtum, und sein Wohlstand hat keinen Bestand, und seine Sichel neigt sich nicht zur Erde.
No enriquecerá, ni será firme su potencia, ni extenderá por la tierra su hermosura.
He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
He will not be rich, neither will his substance continue, neither will their possessions be extended on the earth.
Er kommt nicht aus der Finsternis heraus; seine Schößlinge versengt die Gluthitze, und er selbst vergeht durch den Zornhauch des Mundes Gottes.
No se escapará de las tinieblas: la llama secará sus ramos, y con el aliento de su boca perecerá.
He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
He will not depart out of darkness. The flame will dry up his branches. He will go away by the breath of God’s mouth.
Er verlasse sich nicht auf Trug: er täuscht sich nur; denn Trug wird auch das sein, was er durch seinen eigenen (Trug) erzielt:
No confíe el iluso en la vanidad; porque ella será su recompensa.
Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself, for emptiness will be his reward.
ehe noch seine Zeit da ist, erfüllt sich sein Geschick, während sein Wipfel noch nicht gegrünt hat.
El será cortado antes de su tiempo, y sus renuevos no reverdecerán.
It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.

Wie der Weinstock stößt er seine Beeren unreif ab und läßt wie der Ölbaum seine Blüten abfallen.
El perderá su agraz como la vid, y derramará su flor como la oliva.
He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.

Denn die Rotte des Frevlers bleibt ohne Frucht, und Feuer verzehrt die Zelte der Bestechung.
Porque la sociedad de los hipócritas será asolada, y fuego consumirá las tiendas de soborno.
For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
For the company of the godless will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.
Mit Unheil gehen sie schwanger und gebären Frevel, und ihr Inneres bringt nur Selbsttäuschung zutage.‹«
Concibieron dolor, y parieron iniquidad; y las entrañas de ellos meditan engaño.
They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
They conceive mischief and produce iniquity. Their heart prepares deceit.”
